The last thing I expected when I found the trespasser bathing in my river was for it to be her…

Daisy Adair has always been my dream girl. From when we were best friends in high school to finding her now.

A gorgeous mother who shows up on my property with three kids in tow.

But I became a recluse for a reason.

The life I chose is full of wickedness and peril. The last thing I need is the object of my every fantasy invading my space and risking her life because of me.

Only when she tells me she’s on the run from her ex, I promise to do anything to keep them safe, even marry her to protect her kids.

That single kiss at the altar rips through every barrier, our passion unleashed.

Now, living under the same roof blurs the lines I’ve drawn.

Each glance of her down the hall and I am splintering.

Each brush of her hand and I am brought to my knees.

Our future—bright, hopeful, and almost within reach—hovers on the edge of becoming real…

Until we discover the threat surrounding her is grimmer than either of us imagined.

Now I’m fighting to save her and her children before our second chance at forever is burned to the ground…

On the Brink of Bliss by A.L. Jackson

Oh my god, I absolutely ate this up. This was my first A.L. Jackson book, and I’m officially obsessed. This is romantic suspense done right, it’s emotional, tender, intense, and completely immersive.

This is the final book in a series of interconnected standalones, and even jumping in at the end, I was fully invested. I will 100% be going back to read the rest because this story made me feral in the best way.

Cash and Daisy’s story was beautiful, aching, and incredibly swoony. Second-chance romance, forced proximity, and marriage of convenience blended perfectly with danger and suspense. What stood out most to me was the found family, not just between the main couple, but with the children too. The way Cash cares, protects, and slowly lets himself hope again completely melted me. It was emotional without being overdone, sweet without losing the edge, and full of heart.

And the audiobook was Incredible. I’m a huge Samantha Brentmoor fan, and she absolutely delivered. The narration added so much emotion, tension, and depth to the story.

This book gave me romance, suspense, found family, and a deeply satisfying love story. I was hooked, invested, and didn’t want it to end. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Thank you to Valentine PR for the gifted ALC.

Cash & Daisy

Our mountain recluse who speaks in grunts was who I was most excited for, favorite MMC vibes.

Daisy:
Single mom of three
Shy vibes
An awful ex husband

Childhood best friends.

As with this series, there’s danger, sovereign sanctuary business, violence, and a man with a very troubled past that doesn’t think he deserves love.

Cash with her kids was 😍
Big grump melts

Did not see the twist at the end coming.
I almost never do with this authors books 🤣

Loved seeing all the big bad biker men altogether.

If I could, I woukd rate this book a million stars! Amy has given me the story I have been waiting on this entire series. Cash getting his HEA is everything to me. That man had stolen my heart from the second he was introduced in the first book of this series. I absolutely love a story that consumes me and Amy does it every time!

This story is Cash and Daisy's story. Cash is that morally gray character that is in a secret society and he will leave you melting in a pile of goo. Cash is everything and more!
Daisy is a single mom on the run and looking for the only person she knows will keep her safe.
Cash and Daisy have the soulmates vibes going on in this book! I could feel the chemistry coming off the pages of these two. The love these two have can travel space and time. Nothing was going to keep them apart.

Sean Masters and Samantha Brentmoor absolutely slay with dual narrated audio. Sean has the best voice and I could not have imagined anyone else for this story and as Cash's voice. He has that commanding and gruff voice that is always so sweet to my ears. Samantha brings the sweet guarded voice that is spot on for Daisy. Something about the way that she can make you love a character through her voice. One of my favorite things about her is the way she does the male voice in the chapters she reads.

I am so sad to leave Moonlit Ridge. This series has been a favorite of mine and I have been in bliss since the beginning.

So… this one was a mix for me :/ Cash’s backstory and past timeline are definitely the highlight—teenage Cash, before tragedy struck, is magnetic and heartbreaking, and the yearning between him and Daisy is absolutely addictive. That part of the story kept me hooked!

Daisy's character is just ok. And I get her desperation and need to protect her kids, but I struggled a bit connecting to her. Some of her decisions feel like huge asks, and her personality is timid in a way that doesn’t always land with me. Their chemistry in the present is decent, but at times it feels like it’s built on fear and obligation more than passion

The writing is fine, but some of the dialogue feels a little off. A lot of the romantic lines between any of the characters sounded over-the-top, and the interactions between his friends and their wives? It felt a bit forced and unrealistic. Also, I wasn’t into the Sovereign Sanctum stuff— some of it came across as tacky and didn’t add much for me

That said, the book is still entertaining. There’s enough mystery, danger, and emotional stakes to keep you reading

Thank you to Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this ARC 💕

Okay, this might be my favorite and I definitely love how this series wrapped up with Cash’s story! He’s so grumpy and I am a sucker for a grumpy mmc! But despite that, seeing him soften up for Daisy and her kids had me melting inside! They’ve both been though a lot in the past, but I loved the glimpses of their friendship from back then. So much chemistry between them and I loved every minute of them together.

The audio is performed in dual by Samantha Brentmoor & Sean Masters - I love both of these narrators and couldn’t get enough of them! I think they were the perfect choices for Daisy & Cash!

What to expect:
💜single mom
💜fake marriage
💜grumpy x sunshine
💜mutual pining
💜small town
💜found family
💜secret society

Thank you so much to A.L. Jackson and Valentine PR for letting me read/listen and review this book. All opinions are my own!

On the Brink of Bliss is a riveting conclusion to the Moonlit Ridge series. I have loved every book I've read of AL Jackson's and I'm glad to add this to the list of books I've finished in a day! I couldn't put it down!

On the Brink of Bliss is one of those books that you have to unravel and I was so invested in finding out what happened next. Daisy and Cash have a past that is expanded upon with flashbacks to their teen years, leading up to a life-altering event that caused their separation. Years later when Daisy turns up troubled with her children in tow, Cash is more than willing to do whatever it takes to keep them safe. I loved the storyline and suspense. The plot twist reveal at the end was epic. I can't think of a more perfect ending and the epilogue will have you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Tropes:
✨️ Single Mom
✨️ Grumpy/Sunshine
✨️ Found Family
✨️ Mutual Pining
✨️ Small Town
✨️ Dual POV
✨️ HEA

“It’s you and me, Daisy. Us. Forever. Because once I have you, I’m never letting you go.”

Note: you don't have to read the previous books in the series to enjoy this BUT you'll see previous characters. Trust me, you will love seeing them in the future. The found family in this series is the best.

Thanks so much to AL Jackson for the gifted copy!

Daisy & Cash were best friends when they were kids. Their relationship was slowly developing into more but then Cash had suffered a tragedy and left Daisy behind. Now all these years later, she found him and needs his help. I loved the flashbacks so that we could see the history between Cash & Daisy. Honestly, my heart was broken for Cash. He had such a promising future then something tragic set him off on a different path. He would do absolutely anything for Daisy which now extends to her kids too. I loved seeing him soften towards her 3 babies. He didn't think he deserved love but he got that and so much more. This one was full of heartbreak, angst, longing, twists and turns and I absolutely ate it up.

As always, I loved the suspense and part of it caught me off guard! I loved this group of people so much! I hate that it's over but excited to see what's next.

🎧Audio:🎧
This was a dual narration by Sean Masters & Samantha Brentmoor. Sean was perfect as the broody, closed off Cash. Samantha was phenomenal at voicing all the different kids and women at once. I was impressed. The audio was sooo good!

What a way to end this series! I’ve been craving Cash’s story since book 1. I have a thing for a broody, mysterious recluse and it certainly delivered! Loved this series so much and Amy saved the best of last! Cash had a lot to overcome as did Daisy. Best friends since they were teenagers until tragedy tore them apart and boy did it! I loved them and how much they loved each other. The kids were the cutest! Amy always writes the best kids! Found family, banter and spice were top tier as always! Gonna miss these Sovereign Sanctum men but happy they’ll pop up in the next series!

My thoughts:

This book was so good!! I was quickly hooked and it didn’t let me go!! This story was emotional, intense, yet romantic & so swoony!!

Cash & Daisy’s relationship was everything!! Second chance, forced proximity, and so much tension between these two! This one was beautiful, dangerous, and the perfect amount of suspense to keep you sucked in!! This book has the most amazing found family. Between Cash & Daisy, but also wth her kids. Cash was a top tier man!! He was slowly shedding his tough shell enough to let them all in & start to open himself up, but still kept his edgy protective side that made you love him more!

This is the last in the Moonlit Ridge Series and even though I haven’t read them all, I was fully invested in this one!! I’m so excited for what is next to come! The set up left me so ready for the new series!! 🤭😍

If you’re looking for a great romantic suspense that’s going to keep you wanting more. This is for you!!!

On the Brink of Bliss is the last book in the Moonlit Ridge series. Daisy and Cash were friends when they were teenagers, but something happened to pull them apart. Present day, Daisy finds Cash with her 3 kids seeking help from her evil ex-husband. They decide to marry, so that Cash could protect her kids if something happened to her. However, their soul deep feelings for each other never went away. I liked the romance and the external conflict that caused Cash and Daisy to come back together. I really liked how the series wrapped up in general. The audiobook is fantastic! Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters nailed that narration. I adored the audiobook!

Thank you to AL Jackson and Valentine PR for an ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been a SUPER FAN of all the Moonlit Ridge books… each and every single one…

But Cash…

I have been waiting for this book forever….. and boy it did NOT DISAPPOINT!!!

Daddy Cash, the team recluse, the burly secluded, grumpy hacker. Running from his past, saddened by all he lost and the best friend he left behind.

Daisy- Cash’s best-friend, the only person she ever had that believed in her. Her ex husband turned out to be a horrible man, so she does the one thing she can think of, divorce him and run for safety with her 3 babies.

Safety = Cash. While Cash is so apprehensive, when he finally lets all his walls down the love that comes out of all of them was epic and beautiful. Making this officially one of the most incredible grumpy x sunshine romances ever…

I fell in love all over again. You felt all his feelings, all his pain, and grief- every emotion . Just beautiful writing.

On The Brink Of Bliss is book 5 and the last one in The Moonlit Ridge series and highly recommend reading them in order to grasp the entirety of this crew. Also, you don't want to miss the greatness of each and every single book in this series. My heart is shattered and broken that this is the last book in the series. I have been obsessed, consumed and enthralled by this series from the start. This was a beautiful and fantastic way to end the series. Amy's writing as usual is absolutely stunning, it was even more beautiful in this one. The way she brought this story to life, Cash & Daisy had such depth and emotion, I felt everything deep in my soul. This is truly a book that needs to be experienced, each and everyone of her books are masterpieces.

I have been waiting for Cash's story and the wait was definitely worth it. I could not for the life of me stop reading. The story, the plot, the characters, the love, the chemistry, the banter, the friendships, the found family, everything was phenomenal. The growth and development of Cash and Daisy's relationship was perfection, done with so much authenticity and realness. The flashbacks with the past were perfect to give us even more depth and insight on their past relationship. The twists were once again on point, I did have one of them figured out early on but it didn't deter my enjoyment in any way. This series will remain one of my all time favorites and in my heart forever. The thing I loved the most was how there was so much tenderness throughout the book even with all the darkness. Daisy's kids were the absolute sweetest and they broke my heart so many times. Watching Cash step up and become a dad to them made my heart squeeze so hard.

Overall, this is a must series in my opinion if you're a fan of morally grey MMC’s, motorcycle club romances, protective MMC’s that love their women and their family so intensely, this is for you. Amy's writing is special, her storytelling is lyrical and her delivery immaculate.

🎧 The narration by Samantha Brentmoor & Sean Masters was outstanding. This was the perfect cast to bring this series to a close. They truly brought so much emotion, pain, tenderness and love to the story. Every single thing was felt through their performance. It just made the emotional experience of this last book in the series even more intense. Highly recommend!

Not enough plot/action to justify the length of the book

[apologies, this will sound like a bit of a rant]

I wanted to love it, I really did. But I just...couldn't. 💔
After the incredible Redemption Hills series, which had such great story building with plot twists that gave whiplays, I had such high expectations...maybe too high. 😭

This is a long *ss book (600 pages, 15hrs), but there is just not enough plot to justify the length. ⛔
Not a whole lot happens, there is just chapters-and-chapters of reminiscing and guilt tripping. 🙂‍↔️

Go listen to Redemption Hills series instead, which has the plot-twists-of-all-plot-twists. 🫨
My thoughts: abso-fuckin’-lutely addictive, bing-worthy, interconnected standalones, dual narration, small town, single parent, enemies-to-lovers, the nicknames for the FMC #swoon, their tattoos, HEA 🔥
Start with Give me a Reason, but you're going to want to listen to the rest of the series as well. 😏

Anyway, for this book:
⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the story by A.L. Jackson
🔥🔥🔥🔥 for the narration by Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters🎙️

What I loved:
🎙️how the male narrator managed to bring the female POV to life
🧒the children's voices (and lisps) really stole the show
📆the flashbacks to the past; when they met, when they were teenagers, to her discovering her ex-husband's shady dealings
🌈how the words "brink" and "bliss" were referenced throughout the book

What I struggled with:
🌐a lot of background information, worldbuilding, inner thoughts,...which comes in handy for someone new to the series (like me), but I can imagine it will be a tad (understatement) too much for someone else... and overall: too little action/drama

What you need to know:
📚interconnected standalone, last one in the Moonlit Ridge series
🎙️dual narration
🫂dual POV
🏘️small town second chance(-ish) romance
💒fake marriage
🛌roommates-to-lovers
☀️grumpy recluse x sunshine wallflower

📖 On the Brink of Bliss by A.L. Jackson

🎧 Format: Audiobook - Dual
🎙️ Narrators: Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters

🗣️ “Stop looking at me that… before it’s too late for YOU…” 👀

✍️ Non-Spoiler Audiobook Review
On The Brink of Bliss was the first book I’ve read by this author, and the way I ran to Audible to snatch the others in the series should tell you, it will not be my last. Technically, it’s book 5 in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Performed in DUAL narration by Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters, you cannot help but fall in love with these characters. Their voices created an emotional and addictive atmosphere, keeping you locked in from start to finish.

Cash and Daisy stole my heart right from the start. His grunts and her coy demeanor were the perfect combination for the ideal couple. The self-loathing this man had was so heartbreaking and unwarranted. Everyone deserves love, but Cash truly believed he did not, which stemmed from past trauma. All the guilt this man felt was heartbreaking. We get both past and present, giving us a closer look into their relationship and the love they shared. Can I just say, the way he called her, Sweet Girl,” nearly took me out 👀 Plus his love for children… be still my heart.

OTBOB is a sweet, feel good contemporary romance about best friends who fall in love at the wrong time in their lives, experience heartbreaking tragedies, finding family in unlikely strangers and falling in love all over again. The swooning is off the charts with Cash and Daisy and their group of protective misfits. I loved this story and these characters so much!

Thank you, VPR, for the ALC.

On the Brink of Bliss is book 5 in the Moonlit Ridge Series, but can be read as a standalone. It’s the first book I have read in the series, and it certainly won’t be the last…now I have to go back and read the first 4 because I’m hooked!

This book had my complete heart and soul. It’s absolutely one of my favourite reads so far. It’s a long one, but I couldn’t put it down! It’s full of mystery, suspense, romance, spice, trauma and heartbreak. Cash & Daisy are now one of my favourite book couples. The love and yearning for each other throughout the story was so intense, it’s like you were there and you could feel it!

The flashbacks to when they were teenagers really shows how Cash wasn’t always a “grumpy giant”. He used to be funny and full of whit. Then tragedy happened and it changed him and their lives fell apart. But having Daisy and her three adorable kids show up on his land several years later needing help, brought his softer side back out and we got to watch this damaged man begin to heal.

The spicy scenes in this book were on fire! They were so intense, you could just feel all the heartache, emotions and love. Amy really made these scenes so descriptive and vivid, I just couldn’t stop reading! Absolutely some of the best love scenes ever written in my eyes.

And that ending….I knew something big was going to happen, but I wasn’t expecting all of that! I predicted a couple of things, but wasn’t able to put it all together until the end. What a way to end the Moonlit Ridge Series! Be sure to read the Bonus Chapter that Amy posts at the end of the book!

Thank you A.L. Jackson and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this and give my honest opinion!

“My wife. My Wallflower. My best friend.”

Cash❤️ I think of all the SS men I had a feeling he was going to be my favorite. I mean you just know the recluse hacker has a tortured backstory that will want you to love him. He did not disappoint! Daisy a ghost from his past shows up on his property with an impossible ask with her 3 kids, that leads them to deal with unhealed truths and revelations. Can they find a way back to each other? I loved their story so much. I love how all the women in this series stand for their guys once they decide they are all in no wavering. This was the perfect ending to this series and just enough of a tease into a new story.

Such a good ending to the series. I could not put this book down. Finally getting to hear Cash’s backstory was so good. He was always just outside so the mystery matched the man I think. I also love that his story was a second chance romance. Cash really needed that. Seeing him and Daisy come back together was sad and happy. They still had their connection even when one of them tried to fight it. In addition to the ARC I also got the ALC and it was so awesome! Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters did a fantastic job with the duet narration.

Moonlit Ridge is forever going to hold a special place in my heart. This series ends with the final installment, On the Brink of Bliss, Cash’s story. While all of these books are intense and heartbreaking, Cash’s story is the most…well of everything. Each book is a standalone in an interconnected world, but truly they need to be read in order, there is far too much backstory that would be missed out on. Please check your trigger warnings before reading.

Cash and Daisy share a history together, a history that Cash tries (and fails) to forget. They met when they were young, found each other in high-school, but when you truly connect with someone, age is just a number. Torn apart by tragedy, Cash turns into himself, vowing to never let another innocent die in vain. Daisy tries to make the best of her life, even if it means moving on from Cash, even if it means keeping him alive in her mind when he isn't there for her. Fast forward, Cash is a member of Sovereign Santium, a secret group that helps women and children when they need a way out from a world that would cause them harm. He and his brothers protect those that need it. Each of his brothers have found love, a woman, a family to call their own, Cash however is a grumpy recluse that likes to spend his time alone in his cabin. He loves his brothers and the family that have made, but Cash holds demons inside him that hold him back from life. After returning home one night however, Cash finds something on his land that changes his life forever.

Daisy is now a single mother on the run from her ex-husband hell bent on taking her out. She thought she would be safe, that she did the right thing, but all that matters now is that her children are safe. With no family, and no one else to go to, Daisy tracts down the one person who ever truly made her feel safe. Cash. Once she finds him, all she has to do is get him to agree to fake marry her, to keep her children safe, to love them. She just wasn’t expecting Cash to actually agree to her demand. Now that he has, things are different between them and Daisy isn’t sure she can go back to how things used to be.

Cash and Daisy broke my heart, then healed it all in one amazing book. The depth of their relationship together, how they started, how they loved each other, then lost each other, only to find each other again, but held back by fear and guilt. This book was everything. Daisy and her kids act as a bridge to bring Cash out of the self imposed hell island he placed himself on years ago. And Cash does what he does best, he protects. He acts as a shield to Daisy and her children, he keeps them safe, he cares for them, he loves them. The flash-backs from their early years are really meaningful, and I really enjoyed reading them, but my favorite moments for sure are the moments with Cash and the kids. He’s a stark, grumpy guy, but with those kids, he is soft and vulnerable, it rounds out his giant personality well. Of course with all of this author's books there is spice, and boy oh boy…Cash has another level to him in this category. The spice was a great addition to the book, but Daisy and Cash’s relationship takes center stage, they have such a need for one another that it almost transcends time. It makes for a fabulous read. I’m so sad to see the series come to an end, but what an end it was. It may still be early in the year, but this is my favorite read so far. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

On the Brink of Bliss by A.L. Jackson felt like emotional whiplash in the best possible way, the kind where your heart is racing, your chest hurts a little, and you’re already mad at yourself for how attached you’ve become. Published by A.L. Jackson Books Inc., thank you to Valentine PR and the author for my ALC/ARC, because this book did not come to play and neither did my feelings.

This is the final book in the Moonlit Ridge series, and it carries that quiet, heavy energy of something meaningful coming to an end. You can feel it on every page and every spoken word. This story isn’t trying to shock you with nonstop twists or overwhelm you with chaos. Instead, it settles in slowly, wraps itself around your emotions, and refuses to let go. It’s romantic suspense, yes, but it’s also deeply cozy in a way that sneaks up on you. Kids’ laughter echoing through a house that hasn’t felt like home in years. Shared meals. Lingering looks in hallways that say everything words won’t. The kind of love that grows in small moments while danger waits just outside the door.

Cash and Daisy absolutely own this story. Cash is the definition of a grumpy recluse, a man who has convinced himself that the darkness he carries disqualifies him from happiness. He isolates. He protects from a distance. He believes loving someone means eventually hurting them. Daisy shows up anyway, with three kids, a past that refuses to stay buried, and a quiet strength that cracks him open piece by piece. She doesn’t beg or demand. She simply stays, and somehow that’s what undoes him.

Listening to this on audio made the emotional experience even richer. The dual narration brings an added layer of intimacy, giving Cash’s broody restraint and Daisy’s quiet resilience a depth that hit straight in the chest. Hearing the tenderness in the softer moments and the tension in the dangerous ones made it impossible to disconnect. It felt immersive, like being pulled directly into their home and their hearts.

What surprised me most was how tender this book is. Yes, there’s danger. Yes, there’s a fake marriage, a morally gray hero, and an ever-present threat tightening the tension. But the emotional core is so soft. Watching Cash with Daisy’s children absolutely wrecked me. He loves them instinctively, fiercely, without hesitation. Daisy, too, is written with so much care. She’s resilient without being hardened, vulnerable without being fragile. Her refusal to give up on Cash feels rooted in history, trust, and knowing who he was before the world broke him.

The pacing gives every emotion room to breathe, and the flashbacks add depth instead of distraction, showing who they were before everything went wrong and why their connection still matters now. One quote that stayed with me long after I finished was, “It’s you and me, Daisy. Us. Forever.” Simple. Earned. Heart-stopping.

This landed at about four and a half stars for me, the kind of rating that comes from being emotionally satisfied while still wishing you didn’t have to say goodbye. If you love slow-burn romantic suspense, found family, grumpy-sunshine dynamics, and love that feels like safety, this book is absolutely for you.

So tell me… how do you recover after finishing a series that felt like home?

HEA: Yes

On the Brink of Bliss is the emotional send-off Moonlit Ridge deserved. Tender, dangerous, and painfully romantic, this final installment wraps up the series with aching longing, found-family warmth, and a love story that has been quietly waiting years for its moment. If you’re a sucker for second chances, forced proximity, and men who would burn the world down to protect their people, this one hits exactly where it should.

There’s something extra bittersweet about knowing this is the last visit to Moonlit Ridge, and A.L. Jackson leans into that emotion beautifully. Cash and Daisy’s story feels like a love letter to everything this series has built: broken people finding safety, families stitched together from pain, and hope carved out of darkness.

The Story

Cash has been living in isolation for a reason. His past is violent, haunted, and full of ghosts he doesn’t think he deserves to outrun. Daisy was once his whole world, and now she’s back, on the run from an abusive ex, with three kids and nowhere safe to go.

What starts as protection turns into a marriage of convenience, and that single kiss at the altar cracks open years of buried longing. Forced under the same roof, Cash and Daisy are forced to confront not only their feelings, but the trauma that shaped them. Teenage Cash, before everything shattered, is a standout. His love for Daisy is soft, desperate, and heartbreaking in the best way.

The suspense adds weight without overpowering the romance, and the found-family element, especially involving the kids, gives this story a warmth that lingers long after the last page.

🎧 Narration

Performed in dual narration by Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters, and honestly, this is audio romance at its finest. Samantha Brentmoor brings Daisy to life with warmth, vulnerability, and quiet strength, making it impossible not to fall in love with her. Sean Masters is perfection as Cash, all gravel, command, and aching tenderness under the rough edges. Together, they elevate every emotional beat, making the longing, danger, and devotion hit even harder.

✔️ Marriage of convenience with real emotional weight

Final Thoughts

On the Brink of Bliss is swoony, emotional, and deeply satisfying. It gives Cash and Daisy the love story they’ve always deserved and closes out Moonlit Ridge with heart, danger, and tenderness in equal measure. If you’ve followed this series from the start, this finale feels like a warm, bittersweet goodbye. And if you’re just dropping in, it’s a powerful reminder that sometimes the greatest loves are the ones that survive everything.

Star: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Narrators: Samantha Brentmoor & Sean Masters

On the Brink of Bliss is an emotionally rich and suspense filled chapter in A.L. Jackson’s Moonlit Ridge series that pulls you deep into a story of long buried love, quiet devotion, and the fierce instinct to protect at all costs. From the very first pages, the atmosphere is heavy with longing and unease, setting the tone for a romance that feels both tender and dangerous.

The story between Daisy Adair and the brooding Cash is the heartbeat of the story. Their past as best friends add an extra layer of intimacy and heartbreak to their reunion, making every interaction feel loaded with what was lost and what might still be possible. Daisy’s return to his life is not just unexpected; it is disruptive in the best way, forcing him to confront the isolation he has chosen and the feelings he has never truly buried.

Daisy is a compelling heroine, defined not by fear but by resilience. As a single mother on the run, her priority is always her children, and that fierce love shapes every decision she makes. Her vulnerability feels authentic, balanced by a quiet strength that makes her easy to root for. The way she navigates the fake marriage arrangement is especially effective, as it becomes less about pretending and more about finding safety, trust, and a sense of home she has been denied for too long.

Cash’s internal struggle adds depth to romance. His belief that his life is too dark and dangerous for Daisy creates a constant push and pull that fuels emotional tension. Watching him fight his feelings while instinctively stepping into the role of protector is both heartbreaking and deeply satisfying. Each shared space, each accidental touch, and each charged glance builds that tension until it feels impossible for either of them to keep pretending their marriage is only for show.

The suspense thread woven through the story keeps the stakes high and the pacing tight. The danger surrounding Daisy and her children never fades into the background; instead, it presses closer as the story unfolds, reinforcing the idea that love does not exist in a vacuum. The looming threat gives real weight to the characters’ choices and makes their moments of happiness feel fragile and precious.

Emotionally, the story delivers on all fronts. There is yearning, guilt, hope, and a deep sense of earned connection that grows stronger with every chapter. The romance is passionate without overshadowing the emotional journey, and the sense of found family adds warmth to the darker elements of the plot.

On the Brink of Bliss is a powerful blend of second chance romance and romantic suspense, capturing the idea that love can be both a risk and a refuge. It is a story about choosing connection over isolation and believing that even after everything has been broken, something beautiful can still be built.

Exceptional Story & Narration🎧Riveting & Heartfelt!

On the Brink of Bliss
Moonlit Ridge, Book 5
By: A.L. Jackson
Narrated by: Samantha Brentmoor, Sean Masters

I loved everything about this book and this series, and while it is sad that this is the last book, A.L. Jackson gave her characters a blissful and worthy ending. And with every ending, there is a new beginning, a spin-off of sorts starting with Silas’ story, and this won’t be the end of seeing these amazing characters of the Moonlit Ridge, which made me happy. As much as I would like to say that Jackson left the best story for last, Cash Cunningham and Daisy Adair’s story, I can’t because each book was just as amazing as the last and so were the characters. Cash and Daisy were each other’s person, meeting when they were young, immediately bonding and becoming best of friends and so much more. But tragedy strikes the Cunningham family, and Cash bails, and Daisy never saw him again. She moved on, married, and had three adorable children, but her husband, Ethan, was not who she thought he was. On the run, she looks for the only person she can trust to help her and keep her and her children safe. Cash is the hacker for the Sovereign and is the most reclusive and closed off of the group of guys, the founders of the secret society. Cash and Daisy have not seen each other in years, and she caught him off guard, so their reunion was great, and I loved his reaction to the kids too. I loved watching these two reacquaint themselves and learn more about them and their backstories. Cash, who thinks he is undeserving of anything good, pushes her away, but there were unresolved feelings between them and a chemistry stronger than ever. Jackson created another masterpiece of a story here, a cleverly plotted story pieced together perfectly to bring it full circle, and I loved how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow-burn, but so worth the wait, steamy romance. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are phenomenal, as are the character growth and development. It was great seeing and catching up with the rest of the crew, and it warmed my heart to see this found family's strong bond and friendships, a brotherhood that grew and continues to grow. A.L. Jackson, thank you for another exceptional story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧Samantha Brentmoor and Sean Masters, an ideal pairing and cast to bring the characters to life, deliver an exceptional performance with voices that are fitting for a perfect portrayal of each. Brentmoor was fabulous in Daisy’s role, grasping every aspect of her personality, and Master did the same as Cash and was just as fabulous. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side and secondary characters too, kids included, who were absolutely adorable. They set the right tone for the story, conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance, making you feel each one. These two entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to, and their captivating performance rivets you to the story.

Thank you A. L. Jackson and Valentine Press for the ARC and ALC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

This finale to the series about the likable and hardened Band of Brothers of the Sovereign Sanctum had me hooked from the very first moment and kept me spellbound until the very last page. Once again, A.L. Jackson delivers a moving, dark romantic suspense novel with a gripping plot that is bursting with emotion, drama, danger, twists and turns, funny moments, plenty of spice, and has the following tropes:

- Friends to lovers
- Second chance
- Morally Gray Hero
- Ex-MC hero
- Heroine on the run/in danger
- Single mum
- Close/Forded proximity
- Roommates to lovers
- Band of brothers
- Tortured lead
- „Touch her and die“
- Secret Society
- Self-justice
- Found family
- Small town

Cash and Daisy are appealing characters who will reel you in and make you fall in love right from the start. I found Cash fascinating throughout the entire series, and his past really moved me. Daisy is strong and determined. I really liked how she became Cash's calming influence. I loved their friendship in their youth, and their chemistry as adults was off the charts. The children were adorable, and I was pleased that the earlier characters in the series were not neglected and that the strong bond between them all grew even stronger.

About the audiobook:

What can I say? I love the series and Sean Masters is one of my favorite narrators, so I was incredibly excited to receive an ALC and, of course, I wasn't disappointed! Sean Masters and Samantha Brentmoor were brilliant and perfect for the characters. Their voices convey the emotions and sexual tension between the characters perfectly. I also enjoyed how they both embodied the children. Simply great!

Cash Cunningham had always been the recluse of the crew, always alone in his forest cabin with maximum security measures, never voluntarily attending family gatherings, never having guests, and always keeping his feelings under wraps. When he encounters campers on a stroll across his property, he can't believe his eyes, it’s his former childhood friend Daisy Adair and her children – the girl he left behind when a wrong decision and catastrophe completely derailed his once happy life.
Daisy Adair is on the run from her criminal ex-husband, who was released from prison due to a procedural error. Now she wants to ask her childhood friend and first love Cash to marry her so that her children will be protected from her ex-husband if anything happens to her.
Cash reluctantly takes the small family in, even though he believes that his secrets, his actions and his dark past make him the last person Daisy should seek refuge with for her children. But he is prepared to protect them with his life and soon finds himself unable to resist Daisy's attraction and that of her children...

I’m sad that this series is coming to an end, but I am already looking forward to meeting this band of brothers again in the future series. I highly recommend both the book and the audiobook!
