The Scare Zone takes a brilliant premise a dying theme park turned Halloween attraction and twists it into something genuinely terrifying. What starts as a desperate attempt to save a business quickly descends into a nightmare where the line between staged fear and real horror is obliterated.

Chris Bishop nails the atmosphere. The setting feels tight, grimy, and unsafe, and the realization that the monsters are real lands hard. Making the protagonist a scare actor is a smart, effective choice; someone trained to fake fear being forced to confront the real thing adds a sharp psychological edge to the story.

What elevates this book beyond standard horror is the internal struggle woven into the chaos. The fight isn’t just against creatures lurking in the park—it’s against trauma, doubt, and survival instincts pushed to their limits. The pacing is relentless, the tension keeps escalating, and the danger never feels hollow.

Scare Zone by Chris Bishop is a gripping, heart-pounding rollercoaster of a read that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The story is set against the backdrop of a haunted house attraction, but it quickly escalates from spooky fun to a deadly game of survival. Bishop does a fantastic job of blending horror, mystery, and action, making it impossible to put the book down.

The characters are well-written, with distinct personalities that make you care about their fates, even as the tension builds and the terror ramps up. I was particularly drawn to the main character, whose vulnerability and determination made them relatable and compelling.

It is certainly a must read for anyone who loves horror themed events, theme parks and spooks tales.

This book was so engaging. Within minutes I was on my way to Treasure Isle, a failing theme park. Bishop transports you into this haunting story that describes one of the main character’s dream to save Treasure Isle. Instead it turns into a haunting and sometimes eerie story that grabbed me and took me for an awesome ride.

Bishop’s story took me right back to my memories of Haloween Haunts that I have always loved. His descriptions afforded me the opportunity to visit and join in with the frightening theme park’s haunt.

I can’t wait for Bishop to finish his next book.
