The Apocalypse Ain't So Bad. Except for the Bloodthirsty Monsters.Frank just wants to hunt monsters in peace. He’s good at it and prefers to kill evil creatures alone. However, the sudden power outage, falling blazing rocks from the sky, and a stranded girl thrust into his life change everything.
Now Frank finds himself tasked with defending a girl whose feistiness may prove more than a match for his hard edges. Even worse, his new companion is being hunted by a new threat - a monster Frank has never encountered… one that may be impossible to kill.
Can Frank survive a world-ending cataclysm, defeat unkillable monsters, and keep his companion safe from the creatures and herself, or will it all end in fire?

Jessie and Frank became friends under the oddest of circumstances. It looks like it is the end of the world...How will they survive? It is a good post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel, and I would love to see where the two go from here!
Frank just wants a fast food dinner before heading home. Instead, he witnesses something fiery falling from the sky, taking out the truck in front of him at the drive-through window! He soon finds himself saddled with a young woman who claims to have met his FIL, who said that Frank has to defend her and save the world!
Frank isn't interested in saving anyone but himself and his two dogs, Atticus and Scout. But, he reluctantly allows Jessie to go with him to his well-stocked hideaway. Everyone called him a crazy prepper, but when the SHTF, they now expect him to share his goods with them (even though they didn't bother to prepare for themselves!).
I have read a lot of post-apoc books, but this one is unique because Frank happens to be a monster hunter! His neighbor is a vampire, werewolves encounter them on the way home and something is stalking people in the woods around his house! The intereaction between Frank and Jessie is great and I look forward to the next book in this series to see what caused this apocalypse and what happens next!
The narrator was perfect for this book and his performance kept my interest throughout.
"Last gasp of the world" is the first installment in an apocalyptic series. It's a delightful paranormal sci-fi horror of a bitter monster hunter with 2 incredibly trained dogs, and a lively woman who explodes into their lives seeking protection as the world turns on its head.
I really enjoyed the book, i was glued to it throughout. It really reminded me of the Supernatural series (minus the Winchester boys' charm). Jessie is a pretty amazing stronger-than-she-seems character, and I'm hopeful to see some character growth in Frank, our monster hunter in the next book. And the dogs are just 🤩🤩 I'm also looking forward to figuring out the big picture about this apocalypse! Certainly a lot of things are brewing so the author really left me excited about continuing. Overall, an excellent start to a fascinating series, really looking forward to reading the rest of it.
This was at turns both a humorous and sad commentary on the way humans react in a crisis. We're hesitant to give help and save resources for ourselves. I really enjoyed the humor!
A fast through drive-thru is were our main character Frank is when the end of the world starts. Meteors and power outages for everything, including cars, happen all over. Frank meets Jessie there after she tries to get help from him when the vehicle she was in gets hit. From there Frank walks the long trip back home and Jessie tags along. Frank tries to get rid of her but she's sticking like glue. From there we learn more about a prophesy Jessie is part of and Frank's current occupation.
Frank and Jessie meet under strange circumstances and together are trying to figure out if it's really the end of the world. Monsters, mayhem and adventure. Great story, amazing characters, can't wait for more!!
This was a very good first installment. I really warmed to both Frank and Jessie and found each of them interesting in their own way. Looking forward to installment two.
Jessie just wants to forget what happened at the nursing home. Now she is afraid the elderly gentleman was right. Things are falling from the sky. Jessie finds Frank, and their journey begins. Frank is not a people person, but now he doesn't have a choice. The world is falling apart. There are monsters around some Frank has never seen before. Can they do what they need to. Edge of your seat read. Amazing characters.
