Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.
In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

After finishing His in the Dark, I didn’t think Willow Winters could pull me any deeper into this world of gods, prophecy, and dangerous love… but His in the Fire proved me very, very wrong.
This continuation takes everything that was dark, seductive, and mysterious in the first book and sets it ablaze with emotion, war, and impossible choices.
I’ve always loved Greek mythology, but this series has completely reshaped how I see these characters. In the first book, I started to view Hades in a new light. In this one? That perspective deepened in a way I didn’t expect. The ache of being separated from him, from the Underworld, from the throne Persephone was meant to sit on beside him, is palpable on every page. You don’t just read her longing, you feel it.
What makes this book so powerful is the emotional tug-of-war between Olympus and the Underworld, between mother and lover, between safety and destiny. Persephone is no longer just discovering who she is; she’s wrestling with the terrifying realization of what she’s capable of. Her power, her thoughts, her desperation… it all feels heavier, darker, and more intense.
And Hades? The way his presence lingers even when he’s not physically there is a testament to how strong their bond is. His love is fierce, possessive, and unwavering, but it’s also deeply emotional. The idea that Demeter would starve the world for her and Hades would burn it for her perfectly captures the stakes and the devotion on both sides.
I also loved how the mythology continues to be woven so intricately into the story. The war among the gods, the politics of Olympus, the weight of prophecy. It all builds into something bigger than just a romance. This feels epic in scope while still being intensely personal.
The writing is lush, emotional, and immersive. The tension isn’t just romantic here; it’s psychological, mythological, and deeply internal. Persephone’s struggle to find balance between light and dark, love and duty, sanity and power, is gripping from start to finish.
If the first book was a descent into darkness, His in the Fire is the reckoning. The realization that she doesn’t belong fully to one world or the other, and that she may crave both, is beautifully done.
This series has given me a completely new appreciation for Hades, Persephone, and even the complex role of Demeter in a way I never expected when I first picked it up. And I loved every second of it.
Willow Winters didn’t just continue the story. She intensified it in the best possible way.
This was the second book to an amazing duology! I was obsessed with the first book and the second one made me even love this duology more I absolutely recommend it!
This Hades and Persephone retelling continues with Persephone growing into the incredible woman she becomes at the ending of the book, she finds out the lies and deception of her father and the secrets Hades hid from her, this story was filled with action, desire and desperation for each other.
The love they share for one another is incredible and so strong they would just about do anything for each other!
I loved reading it so much and will absolutely put this on my list of favorite mythology retelling books I’ve read so far.
This is the second book in the Hades and Persephone duology. It picks up where we left off in book one. The obsession, the darkness, the desire; all of it had me addicted to the story. I love Hades and Persephone inspired stories. The fire is explosive. The mmc would burn the world down for the woman he loves. He’d walk through fire. He is just so swoony. This story was passionate. This story was intense. This story is a must read.
This sequel dives straight into the aftermath of His in the Dark and never loosens its grip. The moment I opened the book, I was right back in the middle of a world ruled by gods, power struggles, and love that refuses to be denied.
Hades is relentless in his claim on Persephone—not just as his lover, but as his equal and rightful queen of the Underworld. At the same time, Demeter’s hold over her daughter tightens, pulling Persephone toward Olympus and igniting a dangerous clash between the gods. With war looming and the mortal realm hanging in the balance, Persephone is forced into an impossible position.
What truly shines is Persephone’s emotional journey. Her struggle between loyalty, love, and destiny is written with so much depth that every choice feels heavy and heartbreaking. The push and pull between worlds kept me glued to every page, desperate to see how it would all unfold.
This duology delivers romance, sacrifice, magic, and unwavering devotion in a way that feels both epic and intimate. A stunning conclusion that left me breathless and satisfied—this Hades and Persephone story is a must-read and a well-earned five stars.
I have been eagerly awaiting this book, having loved the first one so much, and my patience has been rewarded in this second visit to the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology. The story of Persephone has always held a poignancy for me, but this retelling has a richness that makes it more emotional and human. The cast is, of course, fantastic. I particularly loved the enigmatic Hecate! But add to this the layers of love lust, jealousy, grief, intrigue, and you have a plot which entertains, and keeps you totally involved with the outcome and how it is to be achieved. These gods are not human, their powers are enormous, and their machinations and actions are frequently unkind. However, at the heart of this story is Persephone. Her intelligence, kindness, and consideration, make her stand out as a character of such great worth. The love and passion that exists between her and Hades is wonderful as we see Hades growing through it and Persephone finding herself through it. This has been a fabulous read and I am hppfor more about this richly realised retelling of myth. 💖💖💖💖💖
Book 2 of this Hades and Persephone retelling picks up right after the end of book 1. I enjoyed this one and read it in one sitting.
I really loved the longing Hades has for Persephone, and I liked seeing Persephone realize that she isn’t the same person she was before. She’s growing into her power and learning to stand her ground.
The tension, passion, and loyalty are all there. Their connection feels unbreakable, and their chemistry and bond are intense in the best way.
I also loved how it ended. Overall, this was a nice and enjoyable retelling.
Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions & Willow Winters for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to the author Willow Winters and team for giving me the chance to Arc read!
Just when I thought this series couldn't get better, Willow Winters shocked me yet again! This series was everything I needed and more. You can physically feel the longing for Hades. It made me want to jump right into this book, and tell everyone else to go away so she could be with him, and grow even more.
Hades on the other hand? I think we all want a man who would literally burn the world down for us. Someone with such a deep devotion that they are willing to do anything for us. You can tell he wants to do everything and anything for her, but also wants to discover who she is on her own, and what she is capable of.
and the war between Olympus and the Underworld? You can tell Persephone is struggling to figure out what to do. To figure out how to keep that balance. Persephone's growth with this storyline alone was incredible.
As someone who is a huge fan of Greek Mythology and Hades and Persephone retellings, this books had me completely obsessed.
If you thought the first book was good, get yourself ready for the second book... Not only was it even spicier, it was filled with more feelings, more longing, more DRAMA! It made me understand Demeter's side more (Hades' not so much) but the solution she found was genius and I think she couldn't have made a better decision to keep the balance. All in all - love it!

I absolutely loved every minute with this book. It was beautifully written and the character development throughout was done perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying ending to this duology.
His in the Fire picks up right where His in the Dark leaves us begging for more. Willow delivers that same dark, obsessive intensity from the first book and magnifies it all the more for its sequel. If HITD was the descent into madness and obsession, HITF is the culmination of that passion, and ultimately finding peace and identity in the balance - "After Dark there will always be light."
In His in the Dark, Willow beautifully builds on the mythology we all know, reimagining the characters into versions that stand apart from any other retelling I've gotten my hands on. His in the Fire only continues that pattern by expanding upon parts of the myth that no author has done before in the dark romance genre. Instead of keeping to the foundational story and focusing solely on Hades and Persephone's relationship, Willow blends what we know of Greek mythos - the politics, deception, and war among the Gods, along with power and sway of fate - with the beauty of inner magic, the power of light and dark, and the depths one would traverse for someone they love.
Willow's storytelling isn't just something the reader consumes, it is felt in every way. You feel the depths of Hades' and Persephone's pain amongst imbalance, war, and impossible choices. You experience the longing and wrath of a mother scorned. And as Persephone comes into her power and begins to realize her full potential, the desperation and fear of failing someone, or even yourself, when it matters most. The entire story feels immensely intimate and intense while still being wide in its scope, and it truly gave me a new appreciation for the deeper roles every character had in Hades and Persephone's fated love story.
His in the Fire was an epic conclusion to Willow's Hades x Persephone duology, and it would be a disservice to write it off as any other retelling.
Favorite Quotes:
"I know one thing for certain: after dark there will always be light. If that wasn't true, the dark would not have a name...And I crave both."
"I thought I would possess her. I didn't realize how much she would possess all of me in return."
"My love with always be greater than my anger, but that is not all. My love will always be greater than anyone's vengeance."
Part two in the Persephone and Hades Duet has finally arrived! Boo one His in the Dark is a required reading before diving into the next. Just as book one was, this too also has a darker vibe to it so check your trigger warnings if needed.
We jump right back into where book one left us with that awful cliffhanger. Persephone has been taken from the Underworld, ripped away from Hades and all that she has built. Hades is left in angry fury, his loss of his Queen breaks something in him that should have everyone much more scared than they are. He doesn’t just want Persephone back, he NEEDS her back. There is no other outcome than her returning to his side. Persephone too is feeling Hades' loss, but she is also very conflicted. She lives in two worlds, one of responsibility and pressure and one with Hades where she feels so different about now. She isn’t the same person she was before meeting him, and she has no plans of returning to that person again. Now at the brink of having what she wants most, Persephone must choose between the wrath of Olympus or Hades, the man she can’t be without.
What a read, talk about intense. Hades has officially cracked the top ten of book boyfriends. The intensity of His in the Fire is off the charts, Hades is ready to not only burn to the ground Olympus but the entire universe to get his girl back. The chemistry between these two is volatile, nothing can stop it. When Hades finally gets Persephone back in his arms, I was swooning, throwing my legs back and forth, full girl moment breakdown. These two went through the fire for one another, through Gods, through Fate, through just about every and finally got the one thing they both wanted. Each other. The Author builds a beautiful, all-consuming world with characters that grab hold of you and don’t let go. There is drama, there is pain, there is loss, there is ruthlessness, there is simply everything and it is so intense! Just go read it!

🖤 Hades/Persephone Re-telling 🖤 Burn the World for her 🖤 Dark Romance
Epic! HIS IN THE FIRE is the conclusion of Hades and Persephone’s story. This book isn’t just a story, it’s an experience. I don’t know what to say, I am speechless and overwhelmed. This book is a guilty pleasure read because it’s addictive, sexy, dark, fast-paced, and so irresistible that once you start it, you will be hard pressed to put it down. If you are a fan of fantasy and Greek mythology, Hades and Persephone’s romance is captivating offering a complex exploration of love, power, magic, sacrifice, and the darker aspects of the human psyche. W. Winters did an outstanding job in captivating a blend of steamy sexual tension, a power dynamics between the God of the Underworld, and a young Goddess in an enchanting modern retelling twist of the Hades and Persephone Greek Mythology.
The journey of Hades and Persephone is nothing short of transformative. I could feel the emotions seeping from the pages. Since Hades was promised a Queen—Persephone—for the Underworld, he will do whatever he needs to do to have Persephone. He is possessive, obsessive, and relentless… there’s no walking away! The sexual tension between Hades and Persephone is palpable, and when they get together is delectable. Is Hades ready for a feud between the Gods? Persephone’s struggle with her own limitations and her path to empowerment resonates wholeheartedly. As Persephone starts to show her powers, she realizes that the chains that bound us are the ones we place on ourselves. Persephone’s journey from feeling trapped to finding freedom within herself is empowering. What happens next? Well, read this amazing story and find out—you won’t regret it! If you are looking for a delightful, modern twist on a classic story, read this book. I dare you! HIS IN THE DARK should be read first. I highly RECOMMEND this book.
The final book in Hades and Persephone’s duet is explosive and mesmerizing.
Persephone doesn’t simply leave the Underworld—she’s torn from it, left aching for Hades who claimed her in shadow and sin. And Hades? Losing Persephone unchains something vicious. It ignites an all-consuming fire—love twisted into obsession, pain sharpened into purpose. He doesn’t want her back—he demands it. She is his hunger, his ruin, his reason to breathe and he will burn Olympus to ash and tear fate apart to claim what belongs to him.
Their chemistry is volcanic—heavy with hunger, aching with emotion and soaked in a love that refuses to be extinguished. Their connection is dark, possessive and violently passionate, pulsing with need that borders on destruction. It’s a pull so powerful it hurts to resist.
Hades is devotion stripped of mercy, a god willing to break the world, the gods and himself to have Persephone back into his arms…completely INTOXICATING! Caught between Demeter and the chaos of the Underworld, Persephone must choose, obedience or the god who owns her body and soul…utterly ENTERTAINING!
Hades and Persephone story is the very definition of some love stories aren’t meant to heal… they’re meant to burn🔥
His in the Fire is dark, wickedly spicy and emotionally devastating. Willow Winters crafts a breathtaking conclusion where gods fall to their knees, love reigns ruthless and eternal and some bonds are forged in darkness…unbreakable, inevitable and worth every damn consequence.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stepanie's Book Reports.
This is the second book in the Hades and Persephone Duology. You need to read His in the Dark first or you will be lost. This book will pick up where the other one left off. Hades is on the war path because Persephone is away from the Underworld. To say the man is angry would be an understatement. I'm not so sure that the man isn't broken. The woman he loves has basically been ripped away from him, and he needs her back. He will have his woman back at his side if it is the thing he does. Persephone is a woman who is very conflicted. Having lived in two worlds and those two worlds are very different. One carries responsibility and pressure. The other is with Hades and the life she is building with him. But now she feels different than she did about it. The person she was before meeting him was so different and she had no plans to become that girl ever again. She has grown into her own power and learned to use that power. But that was not easy for her. There is no doubt that she loves Hades. That he is where she belongs. The are so connected and bonded, as if they have been together all of eternity so far. I have to hush about this book. I really loved reading the story these two had to tell. You will love it too!!!
In this second book of the duology, we pick up right where we left off in His in the Dark, and honestly? I was hooked immediately. Persephone and Hades join forces ready to fight. The tension, the passion, the loyalty, it’s all there, and it only gets stronger as the story continues.
Persephone is still caught between two worlds, and you can really feel the weight of everything she’s dealing with. She’s torn between what’s expected of her and what she truly wants. And of course, her family has plenty of opinions about it, which just adds to the pressure. But Persephone isn’t the same person she was before she’s growing into her own power and learning to stand her ground, even when it’s hard.
And when it comes to Hades? Her heart already knows the answer. The connection between them feels completely unbreakable. Their bond is intense in the best way, and you can tell this isn’t just some temporary romance, it’s deeper than that. Persephone is fighting for them, for the love they share, and for the future she wants, no matter who tries to stand in her way.
The book is once again beautifully written and checks all of the boxes for a retelling. His in the Fire wraps up the series nicely.
I loved this book! It was so fun, spicy with a bit of angst too. After I finished reading the first book I was super excited to read the second after that insane cliffhanger. I admit while I did like the first book better, this book was such a fun read. This is a retelling that follows a lot of the original story but with smut added in. I’ll try not to say too much because this is the second book and I don’t want to spoil first book was. But I did love Hades! In all the Hades x Persephone retelling Ive read this Hades has to be my favourite. He is a YEARNER! Whenever she’s away he’s constantly thinking about her and basically crying and pouting about how he can’t live without her and how she needs to get her back. While Persephone goes through lots of internal struggle, and I loved all the character development she went through in the two books. She truly became a strong fierce fmc and I loved her! The plot great, I wouldn’t say there are many plot twists but their relationship dynamic had me hooked on reading until the end. This book is worth the read, especially for the girls that love male yearning. I give this a 4.5/5
5 ⭐️/3🌶️ Picking up right where we left off at the end of His in the Dark, Persephone is trying to console her mother while she misses the one she loves, Hades, King of the Underworld. Zeus is still furious, and so now is Hades.
After a rampage of destroying souls, Hades is feeling pain deeper than he could have ever imagined, feeling hollow inside, like his heart has been shredded, and a shell of what he once was. He didn’t know that what he needed was love until it was gone. Because how can he feel life within when the very goddess of life has been ripped away? He sought out to possess her, but in return, she possesses all of him.
The spice was top tier, chef’s kiss, including skrying with mirrors (think FaceTime). And the character development of Persephone, watching her come into her own, was beautiful to witness. But will it be enough to convince everyone to stop fighting? Or will a war break out in the name of Persephone? Will she be able to go back to the Underworld to claim her throne and be beside her King?
This is the final story in Hades and Persephone’s Duet! This explosive conclusion gives us the feeling of being in the Underworld with the souls who have traveled there to the life of the Gods in Olympus. Persephone is in the middle of making her mother, Demeter and Hades her King and soul mate happy while rediscovering her powers after she thought they were gone. It’s wonderful to see how Hades brings Persephone into his world and she becomes his Queen serving the Underworld with contentment and peace. When Demeter takes her grief out on the mortals causing death of life and coldness in their world. Zeus is really the one behind the lies and deception so when everything comes to a breaking point Persephone is the one to stand up to all the Gods at Court and makes her decision know to all! Love wins in the end and how they all benefit from it is something extraordinary special in the dark retelling we all know so differently.
This is book two in The Hades and Persephone Duology. This continues from book one His In The Dark and omg it is definitely a must read. This book pulled you in and I couldn’t put it down as it was so addictive and kept my attention throughout. I have never been the type of person to read this genre ( Greek Mythology) but after reading book one I was absolutely absorbed in this story and I couldn’t wait to read book two and Willow Winters definitely didn’t disappoint her readers. There are many twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat while holding your breath waiting to see what happens next along with suspense, danger, betrayal, tug of war, power, hope, love and emotional situations that will have you so engrossed in Hades and Persephone’s story. I definitely recommend that you read this duet and you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to see what Willow Winters writes next and I will definitely be there to read it.
Holy war is raging in Olympus because of the deal that was made between Zeus and Hades, unbeknownst to Demeter and Persephone. Not only is Olympus feeling the wrath, but so is all of the Mortal world and the Underworld ,meaning the balance of life and death is very lopsided. Persephone is torn between two worlds, being the goddess daughter of Demeter and wanting to be with her, and her new found powers and love for Hades in the Underworld. Truths of thee deal Zeus made with Hades are finally revealed and Persephone is between a rock and a hard place. How does one find balance and harmony with two very conflicting worlds? Well, I won't give it all away, but I now realize how we have the seasons now....
Greek mythology has always intrigued me and reading these two stories just makes me want to explore more more more!
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest review.
Oh my GODS! This is the second and final book in this duology and it starts where His In The Dark left off. Persephone didn't leave Hades, she was ripped from him and in what you would expect from him he will tear everything apart to get her back to her rightful spot as his Queen of the Underworld.
Persephone is torn between the two worlds of Olympus with her mother and being with Hades in the Underworld. She is definitely not the same woman she was before being with Hades and her powers are growing stronger.
There are secrets that will be learned and what will happen when they are learned?? Will Persephone and Hades be able to be together or will a war destroy them all.
I am just in love with this retelling. Such a fan of Hades and Persephone! Definitely need to read this book but be sure to read His In The Dark first.
This is the second book in the duet retellings of Hades & Persephone. You will need to read book 1 before reading this one first. There is also a prequel 'A Deal For A Kiss', if you want to start from the very beginning. Willow did an amazing job giving us prophecy, and diving into the world of the gods! Her writing is truly worth reading!! It is a Dark Fantasy with Dual POV. Persephone being taken from the underworld creates an obsession in Hades and he won't stop until he gets her back. Persephone is caught between 2 sides and must make a decision, family or love. I love the bond that was created between Hades and Persephone. It is so strong and they are truly meant to be together! Willow created an amazing bond filled with emotions and it just shows us that no matter what, some bonds are too strong to be broken!
This compelling story continues as Hades is not about to stand by idly when Persephone is taken from him he is determined to reclaim her as life without her is not an option. He knows that they are destined to be together and anyone or anything that tries to come between them will be dealt with accordingly.
Persephone thought she had her future all planned out until she found herself in the Underworld and with Hades. Being there has changed her view on everything which includes her future so even when she and Hades are not together physically the emotional connection between them doesn’t diminish.
I enjoyed seeing the evolution of both these characters as Hades allow us to feel his emotions and the depth of his love while Persephone only becomes stronger as she fights for what she wants and the chemistry between them are electric.
More has been revealed in the second part of the story of Hades and Persephone. Deceptions and misdeeds are uncovered. Zeus and Demeter Persephone’s parents are not without guilt. Zeus fears the powers Persephone possess, that they will be stronger than his. Demeter can not endure being separated from her daughter. Hades loves Persephone beyond measure and wants his queen with him ruling the Underworld. Persephone is torn between her mother in Olympus and Hades, her king of the dead whom she is meant to rule beside in the Underworld. Can a compromise be reached? One which will not destroy either Olympus or the Underworld? Read on to discover how Persephone resolves this dilemma avoiding war and how the four seasons a year came to be.
After reading book one, His in the Dark. I couldn’t wait to read the conclusion to Hades and Persephone’s story. Oh and it was well worth the wait! Persephone is ripped away from the Underworld. Which as Hades destroyed and on the rampage. His pain is visceral. His agony devastating leading to a path of destruction. Whoever is in his path best beware. Ms. Winters’ writing and world building is just outstanding! Details and descriptions so vivid everything comes to life. His in the Fire is a gripping and captivating tale of a powerful love. The war of gods, finding balance of power and duty. Be prepared for a thrilling, emotional and delicious spicy ending to Persephone and Hades’ journey.
Lawd where do I even begin… other than willow you wrote a beautiful duology I love your retelling of Hades and Persephone it was so beautiful written.
We continue with Persephone returning back to Olympus after spending some time in the underworld with her love Hades. Upon arriving back Persephone feels at a loss with wanting to go back to her king, and wanting to stay with Demeter.
Secrets can only stay secrets for so long.
Hades in the other hand my my my 🥵🔥😍 that man will wreak havoc in his own realm just to have his queen back at his side! It is definitely not easy for him to be away from Persephone he becomes anger at the thought of her gone, and he will stop at nothing to get her back.
Hello ! Here hold my hat while I delve into beautiful darkness 😉
There’s a battle going on between Olympus and the underworld ! Persephone knows who she is and what she wants but she’s struggling with what she’s capable of and what she’s can and is willing to do and that frightens her I think ….
Hades may be out of sight but you can feel him everywhere ! His love is emotional and intense and Demeter would also go to extreme lengths and man this is overwhelming and intense but oh so good 😉
These 2 books have definitely made me look at Greek mythology with different eyes and how does one find a banks be between light and dark ?! How does one cope with such intensity !?
I’d be happy to take Hades of Persephone‘a hand I mean what are friend for 🙈😉😂
His in the Fire is the second part of the Hades and Persephone duet. You should read His in the Dark first before diving into this one. We just right into the book where the cliffhanger left off in His in the Dark. In His in the Dark, they do not get their HEA. The storyline in His in the Fire was fast paced with a lot of action and the ruler of the underworld had business to take care of which he did. I am not giving any spoilers, but you will be happy with the way His in the Fire ends. The couple is literally fire. They have chemistry and the spice is top notch! I will say that Persephone has a lot of emotional growth throughout the duology. She grew into a beautiful and strong Queen. His Queen!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶 I absolutely LOVED this book. It was definitely my favorite! This book is choas. This book is heartbreak that you can feel. I absolutely love Willows way of retelling this story and her writing style 😍 💕 Persephone is very reliable for me. I was rooting for both Persephone and Hades throughout. We also got to see a bit more of Demeters POV in this book and that was interesting! Im so glad we got that! Willows writing is very descriptive so I could picture the story perfectly and the emotions i could really feel. This was book 2 and everything comes together so nicely in this one. It ends on a HEA which makes me feel so happy for Persephone and Hades. I would highly highly recommend this book to everyone. I absolutely loved this doulogy and im so sad its over 💕💕
I loved seeing Hades struggle with new emotions, yearning looks good on him! I loved Hecate meddling ways and how she always seemed one or two steps ahead of the gods! A titan through and through!
Persephone comes into her own and challenges Zesus becoming the Queen of the dead she’s always meant to be! (I would’ve like to see Persephones rage explode a bit more but maybe that’s just me.)
“There is light and there is darkness within us all. Both sides are required for the flawed ways in which we exist. Which is a blessing. Gratitude should exist for every piece of us. Including the side we were taught to fear or feel shame for. In contrary, we should love it and allow that power to rise all the same.”
