I liked this one, but didn’t love it. It’s a snack-sized post-apocalyptic story that delivers on fast pacing and action, but don’t go in expecting deep character development. Sarah and Jake are solid leads, and the stakes are definitely high, but it’s more shoot-em-up and run than anything emotionally complex. Still, if you’re in the mood for something quick, gritty, and survival-focused, this’ll do the trick.

ONLY READ THIS “SERIES” BECAUSE ITS ON KU. Great Story !

If this series hadn’t been available on KU I wouldn’t have bothered reading it at all. As a prolific reader I have a strong aversion to all things novella and instalment/ episode based storytelling. This type of publishing comes across as a gimmick/ a cash generator. It’s incredibly frustrating. I didn’t even notice immediately that that this “book series” came in instalments rather than complete.

To anyone interested in reading the episodes then check for a ‘box set’.

The story itself is far fetched in the premise that the ‘bad guys’ are highly organised and taking immediate action. I don’t doubt that any of it is possible including the average person being oblivious or wilfully ignorant of potential hazards. It’s the speed at which it all happens that’s unlikely.

I am planning on checking other work by this author but if it’s the same serialised format I’ll be looking for “box sets”. I don’t subscribe to the concept that people are unable to pay attention to anything longer than 30mins.

3.5⭐️
This novella continues from the first one and they are almost like short stories but continuations right where it leaves off. I really enjoy post apocalyptic just not much to say except all of these 5 novella could have just been put together for a novel. Very good plot right from the start and lots of action too. This focuses on when everything goes dark after the first one and everything is chaotic and there’s a group that’s after a lot of people.

I liked how fast the pacing was in this book. It added to the tension as the characters ran through the sewers to try to avoid the vicious gang.

The different POVs were good and it was obvious that Marcus was well organised and had connections before the EMP attack.

The ending made me want to read the next book.

I’m really enjoying the story, I like the characters who are well developed early in the sections and will continue to read the episodes. However, I’m not sure I understand why it’s in episodes, it would be very expensive to read without Kindle unlimited. I do like the breaking of the episodes and that they are quick reads.

Jake's house is discovered.

They escape through a storm drain. There they meet Maya. She leads them to her hideout at the hospital and plan their next moves.

Sara and Jake

Feels to real and scary. Poor Devon at that age is way to much. Hiding in drain sewers is bad enough.
