My Darling Mayhem

Rate this book
I crafted a perfectly simple life for myself and my son.
It was peaceful and lonely, exactly how I wanted it.
Then my new neighbor moved in and ruined everything.
Archer Green. Not just a member of a motorcycle club, but the president.
The leather jacket on his broad back, along with all its various patches might as well have been red flags, warning me to stay away all the while his looks dared me not to.
Ignoring him was futile. Still, I tried.
Until Archer showed up in my son’s classroom, ready to read for storytime hour.
He’d found a way under my defenses…straight into my heart.
Except, our worlds couldn’t collide even if we were tempted to let them.
Not after we discovered a ruthless link we shared with someone from my past.
I’d always hoped for a fairytale, but even if I wished for a different ending to my story,
Archer Green could never be a part of it.

4.5 stars! My Darling Mayhem is a small town, MC romance, with a single mom, he falls first, and they’re next door neighbors! This book is a standalone but just know that it does have connections to multiple series from this author (Stone Riders + Rake Forge).

Wren is a single mom to her son Cruz and wants a stable, safe life for them both. They’re living in a small town in New York and life gets shaken up when their new neighbor moves in and he is everything Wren has been trying to keep them safe from. Archer is prez of the Mayhem Riot MC and trying to get custody of his little brother Kane who is in foster care. Archer and Wren have a few run-ins that don’t go so well at first but their lives keep circling around one another. Living next door and now her son and his brother are in the same kindergarten class. Like Wren, Archer is also trying to live a safe, secure life and wants custody of his brother. He has doubts if he is doing it right since the words said to him over the years always play in the back of his mind, and in heated arguments with Wren it brings up a lot of his insecurities as well. Eventually they realize they’re pulled to one another for a reason and do finally give in!

“She was my match.
My equal.
Mine.”

I really enjoyed this one! The first half flew by and was my favorite part of the book for sure. I loved the push and pull between Wren and Archer, both of them wanting that security and safety they crave for their loved ones. But both also coming from jaded pasts with affiliations that not only others looked down on, but were dangerous as well. Old dangers soon come into play in the last half of the book which really brings up the action and drama. I loved how good Archer is and how sweet he is in the beginning with wanting to be apart of Wren’s life but also not wanting to lose her either so trying to take it slow. The boys were super cute in the story too. This book does have very light connections/mentions to the Stone Riders MC series but even more to the Rake Forge series, which I haven’t read yet but I think would have helped especially with the last half of the story. Now I need to go back and read that series since some of the characters have books there. 👀 I just love this author’s writing and always have a fun time with their books!

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.

CW: estranged family, references to foster care/legal guardian custody, references to parental death (not shown), acts of violence to child’s parent, use of guns and heavy artillery, danger/suspense, peril of two minors (abducted briefly)

i fear that this might be my new fave book of Ashley's 🤭😭

Archer moves in next to Wren, and her son, Cruz. She sees his motorcycle and immediately knows she has to be as distant as possible from him and everything that comes with an MC. Archer is trying to take custody of his little brother, Kane. He's doing everything he can to make sure that his brother is safe and cared for. Wren is doing her best to forget her past, and make sure her son never knows the struggles and pain she went through.

Wren is honestly such a badass. She is the single mom of single moms. She actually reminded me a lot of my mom and everything she did for me. She works so hard and gives her all to make sure that Cruz has everything and anything he could want. Archer is honestly such a green flag. He's the perfect man in my eyes. He was truly so tender hearted and will always put others above himself.

Plus, the tension? So hot honestly. Ashley's twists and turns were perfect and gave the perfect amount of angst. The ending was such a twist that I didn't see coming. I can't wait to get more books with these characters!

-enemies to lovers
-single mom
-mc president
-small town
-next door neighbors
-forced proximity

Look the first 65% of this book was great. I was loving it. But shit did it go down hill after the 68% mark.
THIRTEEN characters were introduced in the last 30% of this book that is supposedly a stand alone but after reading the last 30% and the acknowledgments it’s actually a set up for a next gen series of Ashley’s Rake Forge series which I have not read so yeah. That would explain why I was confused as fuck reading this book.
I really thought this was going to take off from how we were introduced to Archer in the last book of the Stone Riders series. Especially since we got the stone riders mention at the beginning but that didn’t happen. Loved the start but things just got confusing and the story lost me. Maybe I have to go read Rake Forge to understand it all better 🤷🏻‍♀️ but reading this felt like Ashley herself is confused with her own timelines and connections between her series.

My least favorite Ashley Munoz book unfortunately. I didn't like either MC until about 50% of the way through. I don't really know why, but I just wasn't feeling it. I thought the plot was a little ridiculous with villains who seemed to come from every angle (we have the ex FB of the FMC, the MMCs dad, and the FMCs long lost twin nephews who are bad but not really bad). Then Lydia and her sister who I kept waiting for something big to happen with them. There were 2 scenes where she ran to Archer when I thought she should have been running to her child. That REALLY bothered me. People broke into your house, tried to kill you, and when they left you had your mom (who is never around) comfort your scared and crying child while you got it on with your boyfriend in the bathroom??? WHAT??? I HATED that.

As far as safety goes:
OW/OM drama: ex FB of FMC can't take a hint. Some sort of OW drama with Lydia and her sister but not really. Sister used to be interested in MMC so Lydia tries cooking something up but then it like....ends.
Celibate/cheating: No cheating. Previous manho3 MMC but celibate a year.

Sorry Ashley. I love you but I did NOT love this.

Wren is just living a normal life. Taking care of her son as a single mom. Working hard to provide for them both. Sure, she misses being with someone, but it's hard out there. Her son comes first.

So when a neighbor moves in next door riding his motorcycle, she knows what kind of man he is. Doesn't she? He's in a MC. He's in the lifestyle that she doesn't want anywhere near her son.

But Archer... helps her out. He shows so much kindness to her son. He is taking care of his younger brother. But still. She knows his world. She knows the complicated things they do.

Wren is a pretty strong character. She has desires like we all do, but she prioritizes her number 1. Like any kick butt mom will do. There's some complicated backstory in her life as well, and I liked how she put her foot D.O.W.N. Even though it cost her.

Archer isn't your typical MC. Which thrilled me to the bone. He was badass but not in a way that made him an alpha ass.

There's also some backstory that connects with previous Munoz books which was cool. And definitely doesn't ruin your experience reading. AND dropped some major players for more books.

Ashley gave us another awesome MC story! Can't wait for book 2!

He falls first

First, let me say that when I was in a bit of a slump, due to me being sick, and nothing was hitting the spot. Until I started this book. I knew within the first few chapters that this was going to be a hit. I devoured it in one sitting. The chemistry between Archer and Wren was instantaneous. I felt the tension seeping off the pages. Archer gave me major Charlie Hunnam from SOA vibes. I know people are always looking for recs to give these vibes. LOOK NO FURTHER. Archer gives all the best vibes that you love in an MMC. He is possessive and gives off touch her and ☠️, but also is the biggest teddy bear for his little brother, who he is trying to get custody of, as well as Wren and her son. I loved Wren and how she would do anything for everyone she loves. I love these two together. I loved the drama, the action, the spice. I just LOVED this book so much, and I want 1 million more just like this 😂

Thank you to Ashley for allowing me to read and review this ARC!

I definitely recommend this to all my friends ❤️

I devoured this book - I love Ashley's writing and she absolutely delivered with Archer and Wren's story! I feel like this would be a really good intro MC book!

Archer moves in next door to Wren, motorcycle and all. And let's be honest, she isn't impressed. Archer is trying to gain custody of his younger brother who happens to be in the same class as Wren's son. The two boys hit it off and turns out, so do Wren and Archer. Archer wants to take things slow so as not to scare Wren away because the man isn't letting her get away. The chemistry between them was instantaneous, despite Wren's past telling her to stay away.

Archer gave the best MMC vibes; he was obsessed and possessive but also such a sweetheart. He is doing all he can to gain custody of his little brother and honestly, that melted me. He is so kind and tender to those that he loves and cares for, Wren and Cruz included. I loved Wren, too. She was such a strong Mum, doing all that she could for her son. She was hesitant to get involved with Archer, but the tension and chemistry was too much to deny. I loved the bond that she made with Kane, and his little declaration at the end had me tearing up.

The last part of the story had me on the edge of my seat, Ashley's trademark twists and turns coming in to play. I loved how it all played out, and how they all got their happy ending.

Add to your tbr if you like:
- small town / MC
- neighbours
- single Mum
- MC Prez
- he falls first

Thank you to Ashley for the advanced copy of this book! Definitely add to your TBR!

What is cuter than a bad boy MC prez that’s trying to gain custody of his little brother and also be the Prince Charming of his neighbor’s dreams? NOTHING. 😍

This was a really sweet, fun romance and the MC was perfection. The right amount of possessive and means what he says. The FMC made me laugh and also feel bad because I feel like she is all of us women at one point where we know we want real romance but settle for all the red flags instead. The kiddos were so cute and I loved their little friendship.

You really feel for Archer and all the pressure that is placed on him to keep being who is but also gain the ability to protect his little bro. He’s such a softie under all the rough exterior.

There was also some suspense throughout and secrets that affected the both of them that really added to the whole story. The last quarter of the book had me on edge with things unraveling and those secrets coming to light (and Ashley did a great job here because I didn’t see some of it coming!)

This was my first book by Ashley and I was impressed with the writing. It flowed so effortlessly and the storyline kept you fully engaged throughout.

“I want a fairytale. Something that doesn’t exist.”

Wren; a single mom who’s been running away from her past. She guards her heart with steel armor and works hard to support her and her son. A very relatable fmc.

Archer; Jax Teller look alike and MC president who doesn’t do serious relationships. While working to get custody of his kid brother, falls hard and fast for his pretty neighbor.

Ashley’s writing is poetry with the perfect mix of suspense and spice.

“I felt like she’d pried her fingers between my rib cage and began weaving thread around my heart, stitching in words that I never imagined would be a part of my story.”

“My darling, mayhem. There’s anarchy under those beautiful lashes and that fcking sinfully smooth skin. You’re a wildfire, and I love it.”

I loved this from start to finish. Her MC series always hit! This HEA was perfection.

This was a cute story but I felt it was a little choppy and rushed in some areas but overall a good story. He’s a motorcycle club president and she is a single mom. He bought the house next door to her and is trying to get custody of his baby brother who is friends and classmates to her son. Later in the book it’s more about the rivalry between families and the motorcycle club world.

I wanted to like this more, I really did. I love Ashley as an author and have always appreciated how she tells a great story with spice and heat, because that can be hard to find!

Wren is a single mom with a surprising family connection that was very cool, actually. This causes problems for her budding relationship with neighbor Archer Green, president of Mayhem Riot MC, who has his own issues (of course).

It felt rushed, to be honest, and I think I would have gotten more out of it if I'd finished the Rake Forge and Stone Riders series (more Rake Forge than anything). I don't know, I kept feeling like I'd missed something or some part of the story. It just didn't pull me in like so many of her other books. It does seem like I'm in the minority based on the other reviews, so it may just not be for me.

I received an eARC in exchange for my thoughts, which are all my own.

“If I had someone that was just mine, then I’d give her a property patch that said my name on the back. I’d kiss only her. F**k only her. Sleep with only her. Not a single person would get to touch me or be with me except her.”

I enjoyed reading Archer and Wren’s story so much! It was unique it that they were both single parenting— Wren to her son Cruz and Archer to his younger brother Kane. Their chemistry was instant but the walls around their hearts were high. The added elements of the tension with the other MC’s and Wren’s past/ secret identity were so suspenseful. WILL I EVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS BOOK?
Unlikely!!!
Out TODAY, let's talk why you NEED to read this!
.
Oh my gahhh! Queen of motorcycle club romances, Ashley Muñoz has done it again!! Set in a small town New York, My Darling Mayhem was everything I wanted and more! A morally grey romance with enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes, enough spice and HOT chemistry to keep you blushing and a surprising amount of heartwarming charm, this book is a MUST READ!!
.
If you haven't read her Stone Riders MC series yet, no worries, read this and then go catch up, but if you have, then you can expect those vibes and more! Loosely linked to the SRMC series, they do not need to be read tangently, but it would make for a super fun weekend full of hot motorcycle club members, sassy and strong fmc’s and love stories worth rooting for!
.
I cannot WAIT to see what's next from Ashley Muñoz! Thank you so much to giving me the chance to arc read and support your amazing writing!

Thoughts:
This world Ashley Munoz has put together has quickly become a favorite and I was so excited to be back! I am not going to lie, I did go in expecting this to be tied to the Stone Riders MC world. There were hints of that, but it was much more part of the Rake Forge University world and let me tell you, I was not mad about it!!

Archer and Wren end up as neighbors and I loved the forced proximity aspects and how the little guys in their lives ended up being friends! It forced these two together even more and while this was slow burn, I loved the buildup and seeing them uncover each other's secrets and get past their initial impressions. They both come from complicated backgrounds that honestly should make them enemies, but they didn't let that stop them (though Wren did need some wearing down haha) and I loved it.

I also really loved Archer and how protective he was of Wren and the boys. I enjoyed the plot with his brother and how he was figuring out how to make his two worlds align. And having read the Rake Forge series, I loved uncovering how Wren was connected to everything and seeing that play out.

I will say that in the first half, it was a lot of buildup and it didn't feel as "MC" or fast paced as some of Ashley's other books. So it was a little slow for me. But the second half truly brought everything together and was much more exciting and I really ended up enjoying!

And I am so so glad that I did read the Rake Forge University series prior. I loved having the backstory on all the friends and family we met and it just made my heart happy seeing everyone. And of course it made me just that much more excited for Rake Forge second gen!! Like OMG I can't wait for that story!

Overall, another great romance from Ashley Munoz and I'm so excited for more from her! Thank you so much to the author for the eARC!

I LOVED Archer and Wren's story - dare I even say that it might be my new favorite Ashley Munoz book! These two were absolutely not what I expected, but that made me fall in love that much more!

🤍MC romance
🤍Single mom
🤍Small town romance
🤍Next door neighbors
🤍He falls first

Archer is the President of his motorcycle club and moves to small town suburbia in order to gain custody of his little brother. Wren is a single mom, trying to do the best for her son and get him away from the life she grew up in.

These two don't see eye to eye in the beginning, but as they realize that they are judging the book by it's cover, they start to see that they are more alike than they realized. And that they have this insane kind of chemistry!

I loved the little friendship between Archer's brother and Wren's son. Those two really loved each other and formed this brotherly bond from the start.

I absolutely adored Archer - he is hands down my favorite Ashley MMC. He was such a complex character, but they way he falls hard and does everything for those he loves is literally EVERYTHING!! So swoon-worthy.

Wren's character arc and past play a big role in this book and I really enjoyed how all of that was handled. I definitely had tears in my eyes by the end of the book!

Ashley’s writing always sucks me in immediately!

I loved learning about these new characters and their stories, as well as this new club. Wren was a relatable FMC and a single Mom whose past makes her skeptical to allow anyone into her heart. Archer is a perfect MMC and so lovable, but it broke my heart how often he is judged and overlooked just because of being the president of a motorcycle club. He’s fighting for custody of his younger brother who’s currently in Foster Care, so he moves to the suburbs to show stability and Wren just so happens to be his next door neighbor. Wren’s son and Archer’s brother are classmates and quick friends, so as much as Wren tries to push Archer away, he keeps showing up. Wren is hiding from a dangerous past and fears that being involved with Archer will destroy everything she’s worked hard to protect her son from. Once they finally give into each other, threats from their pasts catch up to them, but they fight like hell to keep what they’ve found in each other.

This was swoon worthy, easy and fast read with some good spice! Excited to see where Ashley takes us with these new characters and their stories.

Drop everything and read this book! This is a full stop TOP READ right here!! Archer and Wren are everything!!

Now I read the Rake Forge series, so I was aware of background in the story as characters names started to pop up…While it’s not necessary to read the series prior, it helps! And before I get any further, this story while was fucking phenomenal on its own, it fits so effortlessly in the timeline! It explains everything needed and drops the whole bomb of what’s to come! I absolutely cannot wait for more!

Now back to Archer and Wren! I loved them from their first interaction and I loved watching their push and pull turn into a beautiful relationship! These two were more intertwined than anyone could have guess! I am so glad that things turns out the way they did! The perfect HEA for these two!

I was so exited to get to see the characters from Rake Forge again! I absolutely loved Juan and Taylor’s story! And it’s so exciting to see what their story has led to! They created a family and it was great to see everyone come together! The next generation is going to be off the charts!! I can’t wait! I also that bonus content at the end…swoon! At all of it! I’m feel so giddy over what’s to come!

Once again, thank you Ashley for producing such a fantastic story to lose myself in! ❤️

ARC Review: 5⭐️

My Darling Mayhem is a single mom, neighbours to lovers, motorcycle club romance featuring Archer Green & Wren Vasquez.

Mayhem Riots president Archer purchases a home in the suburbs away from his club in order to make appearances in an attempt to take custody of his younger brother Kane. He moves in next door to Wren and her son Cruz.

When Wren discovers Archer is part of a motorcycle club, she immediately has her guard up. After growing up around gangs she will stop at nothing to protect her son. She is very standoffish with Archer at first but after injuring her ankle and he swoops in to help her, she starts to soften towards him.

Archer is smitten with her despite the frosty exterior she gives off. The more time they spend together with the 2 boys, the more he wants her. Eventually she softens towards him, but then her past catches up to them and brings chaos to their door step.

Will they be able to survive the storm and start their lives as a family of 4 or will they be separated forever?

This book. This man. Utter perfection!! I really didn’t know if anything could compete with my love for the stone riders series, but Ashley really did the damn thing!!

Thank you Ashley for the ARC opportunity, I can’t wait to see what’s next from you !!

this was everything I wanted it to be and more! Archer, Wren and the boys. They were everything. I knew from the Stone Riders series that Archef had a softer side and it was out in full force in his story. Everything about this book just... fit. And the boys! Oh how i loved their bond. The found family between everyone was so endearing. I adored that
Brian... blegh. Enough said. I'm wondering which members from the other clubs will get a story... I loved this so much and that ending! Oh my goodness. Thank you to Ashley for the arc.

“My darling mayhem. … you’re a wildfire and I love it.”

“To have someone obsessed with you so they say things that feel like midnight against your skin. Like all the stars exist just for you, and they were the one to put them there.”

I am a sucker for a good single parent romance. Add action and suspense to it? Done for. I loved both MCs and the dynamic between them. The understanding, the protectiveness, the care - I swooned a bit.

Thank you AM and team for allowing me to read early. It was a treat!

No matter how many MC romances I read, I’ll never understand why these men don’t just leave the MC when it causes them nothing but heartache.

This was pretty good. I got lost in the last 20% or so with all the new characters (or old ones I guess). Am I supposed to remember characters from a series from 2021? Because, I didn’t.

Weak three stars. I started to get bored midway, so I skimmed/read the second half. Lots of different characters introduced in the second half. I guess I was supposed to be intrigued with these new people but I wasn’t. Not planning on reading any more of the series.
