Dive into the final oversized issue of Monster New Scaremester! This just School's out for...spring. It feels like the new scaremester just started, but our dutiful headmaster has called off school for the rest of the year. After almost a dozen students have disappeared under Headmaster Frankenstein’s administration, the monster has finally stitched his act together long enough to take action. If you ask me, it’s too little too late. Loyal Criers will know that I’ve been raising alarm bells all scaremester while the administration and school board have turned a blind eye to the issues. It’s time to take action, ghouls. Let’s end this scaremester with a bang. —XOXO CryptCrier
As a woman who suffers from depression and social anxiety, I’ve made it my mission to candidly share my experiences with the hopes of helping others dealing with the same. This extends into my fiction work, where I pen tales about woeful women trying their best, with a surrealist, magical touch. Inspired by surrealist authors like Haruki Murakami, Sayaka Murata, and Lemony Snicket, my stories are dark and humorous with a hint…well, a bunch…of absurdity.
Since the series was shortened by 1 issue I was curious how this one would wrap up, and I can tell that while it was a bit rushed it still felt like a good conclusion. I like that the end had a question mark, hopefully more comics will appear. I would love that!
Lots happened here. This issue had the difficult task of wrapping up this storyline. That meant resolving the zombie kidnappings and the disappearance of Headmistress Bloodgood, righting the cast’s relationship issues, explaining Frankie’s dad’s suspicious behavior, and explaining what has been behind this all. It pulled it off with varying degrees of success. I appreciated that time was still taken to address Cleo and Ghoulia’s friendship (the best friendship in Monster High), and Clawdeen and Toralei fans will be happy with this issue too. It also hinted at what we’ll see in this year’s Monster High Pride issue, which Clawdeen and Toralei fans will definitely want to check out as well. An all around pretty good time, but there are still unanswered questions… hence confirmation of the new Monster High ongoing starting in August. I’ll be reading.
My overall review for this series is that it was really good. Had a good story line and some in between plots that were good but didn't take away from the main story too much. The artwork was fantastic and honestly made or broke some of the other comics I've read, I'm glad this artist did it justice. Also can we talk about the first 4 books with Cover A being connected!!
