When the world falls apart, so do the rules that held it together.
The cities are gone. The laws that once governed society have crumbled to dust. In a world where survival comes first, the lines between right and wrong blur, and the only thing left to hold onto is the people who matter most.
Jennifer and Hunter have made it this far by relying on each other. Through hunger, violence, and the constant threat of losing everything, their bond has only grown stronger. But as the world continues to unravel, so do the boundaries that once seemed unbreakable.
Book One in a gripping post-apocalyptic romance series that explores love, survival, and the limits of morality in a world without rules.
Okay let’s completely ignore the relationship and talk about the book itself.
This was not a good dystopian/apocalyptic novel and I say that based on a few things. 1. Where tf were they?? Why didn’t I find out until ~60% in that it was SC to TN to AL to FL 2. What exactly even caused this? I don’t really think there was a definitive answer to this. 3. How long has this been happening? News flash, you find out about ~80% into the book that it’s only been a year. 4. One year since apocalypse mode and this is the relationship we’re having??? The descriptions of the “love” feel Stockholm syndrome-y and just a weird power dynamic from the get-go which led to….that. 5. wtf is this big bad antagonist thing?? We’re just gonna brush that off??
This book was good when the romance ended, she fled with some people, and trekked to a new place aka the last 8% of the book.
I grab this one cause I could myself really intrigued with Dante series I was reading from the author. I looked at a couple reviews after the fact and found out they are siblings and that killed it for me so I only read a couple pages before I dnf’d.
There are not enough written reviews for me, and I need that rectified expeditiously. Ma'am, your pen game is LETHAL and you put your whole foot in this series. This was a 5 star read and officially in my top 3 for the year. THANK YOU for sharing this story with us. Your ability to story build and really take us through the raw emotions of the characters is unmatched. I don't know if you're a new author or a current author writing under a different pen name, but I was devastated to see that you didn't have any social media presence. I hope that changes, I would love to join your Facebook group or mailing list to see what you're currently working on or the behind the scenes of your inspiration for writing. Hunter was so well written and his inner turmoil of morality vs love in a time of societal decline was just *chef's kiss*. I'll be leaving this review here and on Amazon in hopes that you see it. This series was THAT good and you deserve every accolade.
Man I did not really know what to expect coming in to reading this book but damn. I'll give a separet review for each but i do love this concept a lot. I've been on the hunt for bwwm books and i dont mind the apocalp elements. Mayn. this book had me rolling. The introduction of the characters and the switch between both actrually works. Im not someone who necessarily prefers 1st person switching but the way it was done here felt seamless. the World building was good too. Love the two mains and they werent super annoying. It felt like they were a result of their circumstances and not forced.
Exciting, scary, raw, heartbreaking. This first book gave me all the feels. It drew me right in from the first page. Such an amazing story. Great character development. Palpable fear, you can't reading. Finished this book nearly 4am as I had to find out the end - never mind there being further parts to this serial. Phenomenal talent from the author.
