the art is the worst part by far, of course the story is still super fun and the characters were interesting just sucks we’ll never see them again. wasn’t really attached to anyone either but it is what it is.
Gantz beat Ghostbusters to the idea of taking a franchise and reimagining it as all-female.
You know what Gantz did that was smarter, I think?
Gantz had the G team and the mainline team both exist in the same world. Like, why did Ghostbusters 2016 have to pretend the old Ghostbusters didn't exist?
If I had to guess, it's because it WOULD be hard to de-convince people ghosts are fucking real after they've had two MAJOR ghost incidents in Manhattan. Which is one of my main complaints about Ghostbusters 2, although we DO tend to forget these sorts of things awfully quickly ("Measles shot? For what? Measles doesn't even exist!").
So maybe for the sake of writing, it's better to just start fresh. But, I don't know...I think it would've been pretty funny to just have everyone kinda forget about ghosts. I mean, literal proof of an afterlife, and everyone just kinda went, Eh, so it goes?
Or maybe Venkman fucked up the patent renewal paperwork on Ghostbusting equipment, so now there are A BUNCH of Ghostbusters running around with an unlicensed nuclear accelerator strapped to their back. That'd be amazing.
2,5/5. Far from the quality of the original Gantz. The characters felt flat and build on a rush, the action was alright, but a massive feeling of déjà-vu that bring nothing new. Not worth it, read the original series though!
This was great. A great little gantz side quest. My only real problem is why did it stop here? Why is it so short? Was it because of readership? Because this is not a bad little story here, so I’m surprised it didn’t continue from here.
