I recently finished reading “If These Eyes Could Talk,” and I wanted to share my thoughts.

Starting with the first story, I was quickly drawn in. Muna’s love-hate relationship with Lanre had a charming enemies-to-lovers vibe. However, I felt that more details about their lives—especially their workplace dynamics—would have enhanced the story. The dual POVs seemed unnecessary, as they often repeated information we already knew. Additionally, Lanre’s constant growling was excessive; a simple sigh could have effectively conveyed his feelings for Muna.

Moving on to the second story, I absolutely loved it! This was the depth I was hoping for in the first story. It beautifully explored the evolution of Chris and Sara’s relationship, highlighting how their feelings transitioned from a small crush to a profound love. I appreciated how Chris listened to Sara, which is crucial for someone who has experienced trauma. His portrayal was excellent.

The third story took me by surprise! It was a compelling tale of forbidden love, and I was left speechless by how curiosity transformed into deep affection. I had a hunch about the direction it would take, but the plot twist—retaliation for trying to marry his ex-wife’s daughter—caught me completely off guard!

The fourth story was marvelous! It captured the essence of long-lost childhood love, missed opportunities, and wrong timing, all resolved through a stroke of luck amidst broken relationships. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As for the fifth story, I absolutely adored it! The notion that you and your crush, Eric, would consistently leave work at the same time was too cute to ignore—clearly, he likes you too! Eric, you charming devil!

Things just kept getting better with the sixth story—it was so good!

The seventh story was a masterpiece! I can’t find the right words to express how I felt while reading it; it truly deserves the title “The Beauty of Broken Things.”

In the eighth story, I might have overused exclamation marks, but I was shocked by Ego’s actions! It’s amusing how men often feel the need to rescue everyone, completely unaware that they’re being played.

The ninth story was hilarious! Chibuike, the spoiled brat who believes everyone hates him, certainly found himself in a lucky predicament, sleeping with two sisters!

Finally, the tenth story wrapped up the book perfectly. Rest in peace, Tunde.

Overall, I’m grateful to have read this book. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, I was taken by surprise. Each story—from the first to the last—was enjoyable and worth the read. I’d give it a solid 4.5 stars. Would I read this book again? Absolutely! Would I recommend it to fellow book lovers? Without a doubt!

If I had to sum up this book in one word, it would be "Salacious." Tasha has crafted something truly bold and unique in a world where discussions about sex are often shied away from, despite the sheer size of our population. This book bravely tackles this taboo subject in a way that's both refreshing and necessary. It’s a collection of 10 short stories that span various tropes—enemies to lovers, old flames, employer-employee, age-gap, ménage à trois—and let me tell you, it’s scandalous, provocative, and sizzling hot. Just thinking about it is making my heart race.

Each story is a whirlwind of emotions, passion, and tension, where the chemistry between characters is so palpable, you can almost feel it leaping off the page. What’s impressive is the way Tasha seamlessly blends these steamy moments with deeper emotional undertones, making each story not just about physical attraction, but about the complexities of desire, power, and vulnerability.

One of my favorite stories, *The Dilemma*, had me literally gasping for breath! The tension and sensuality were perfectly woven together, making it a read I won’t forget. The plot twists and emotional highs left me on edge, and the buildup was so intense, it felt like my heart might burst at any moment. Tasha has a way of getting under your skin, keeping you hooked even after you've turned the last page.

This book is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered, and trust me, you’ll need some serious cleansing after reading it. It’s the kind of book that challenges societal norms, pushes boundaries, and leaves you questioning everything you thought you knew about desire. If you're not ready to dive into these taboo territories, don’t even think about picking it up. If you’re looking for something safe and tame, this is *definitely* not it.

If you're brave enough to take the plunge, though, be prepared for a wild ride that’ll leave you breathless. If you're not mentally prepared, don’t put your body in it! This book is *not* for the faint-hearted. You've been warned!

If These Eyes Could Talk is the kind of book that sits with you long after you’ve closed it, it’s seductive, daring, emotionally raw, and beautifully written. Each story is its own universe of tension, desire, and heartbreak, but one in particular absolutely wrecked me: Muna and Lanre’s story, The Start of Something Wrong.

From the very first line, Muna and Lanre pulled me in. Their connection is magnetic, instant and electric in that way that feels like fate but smells dangerously like trouble. Their chemistry crackles on the page: every glance is charged, every conversation laced with heat and vulnerability. You feel their attraction in your bones. But what makes their story unforgettable isn’t just the passion, it makes you ache. The quiet, persistent knowing that love, when it arrives this recklessly, might not come without its consequences.

This isn’t a love story that tries to be perfect, it’s honest. It’s messy. It’s real. And that’s what makes it so damn good. Muna is complex, Lanre is magnetic, and together, they are fire and friction and everything in between. The story’s pacing is brilliant, slow enough to let the emotions simmer, fast enough to leave you breathless.

The entire collection lives up to its promise of being “scorching” but it also delivers moments of softness, self-discovery, and searing honesty. The writing is lush without being heavy, and the emotional beats are so well-placed that you find yourself re-reading lines just to feel them again.

This is not just a spicy book, it’s storytelling that honors the chaos of desire, the ache of vulnerability, and the thrill of surrendering to something bigger than you.

If you love stories that dig deep into what it means to want, to lose, to yearn, and to hope again, If These Eyes Could Talk is a must-read.

🔥 Favorite story: The Start of Something Wrong
💔 Emotional damage: 10/10
📖 Would I read it again? Already did. Twice.
🖤 Final thoughts: This book doesn’t just talk. it screams with emotion, longing, and truth. Read it and see for yourself

This book is a captivating compilation of short stories, each centered around the complex and powerful theme of Desire. From the very first story, I found myself completely hooked. It pulled me in with its emotional depth and vivid storytelling. What stood out to me most was the variety of voices and writing styles throughout the book. Each story felt fresh, distinct, and engaging in its own unique way. The diversity in the narratives made the reading experience even more enjoyable.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the collection as a whole, I couldn’t help but wish that some of the stories were longer. A few of them left me craving more. More character development, more plot, just more time in those worlds. That’s a testament to how well they were written; they ended too soon because they were just that good.
Out of all the stories, my absolute favorite was the one about Chris and Sarah. Their story felt so real, so relatable. it genuinely resonated with me. The emotions were raw, the connection between the characters was authentic, and I found myself fully invested in their journey.
Overall, this book is a beautiful exploration of longing, passion, and emotional complexity. It offers a variety of perspectives on desire, and it does so with style, heart, and depth. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys short stories with substance and soul.

From the very first story, I was hooked. The book dives into topics like love, heartbreak, healing, and rediscovery. The writing is fearless, sensual and bold.
What stood out the most to me is how the author blends the steamy, passionate scenes with real emotional depth. These stories aren’t just about attraction; they peel back the layers of power, vulnerability, and the complicated feelings that sometimes come with love and desire.
Themes like abuse, strength, longing, and redemption flow through every story.
One thing’s for sure is this book is not shy. It’s daring, and unafraid to tackle big issues, whether it’s domestic violence, sexual freedom, or identity struggles. Some moments had me smiling, others hit hard, and the steamy parts?? Well I wasn't expecting so much spice.

If you’re looking something passionate, deep, and unforgettable.

A few if my favorites:

The Start of something wrong - A fiery enemies-to-lovers office romance where tension and passion collide.

The Beauty of Broken Things – A touching portrayal of resilience, love, and hope rising from poverty.

Dilemma – A sharp, twisty story where a man’s hero complex blinds him to a clever woman’s schemes.

I'm not a fan of short stories but I really enjoyed reading this book. I'll recommend if you don't mind reading spice.

Cynthia Osajibenedict did not come to play!
This collection of ten short stories delivers passion, drama, and pure fire! If you love romance with spice, then congratulations, you've just found your next obsession. The book is packed with tropes-enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, second chances, office romance, age-gap tension, and even ménage à trois.
The emotions run high, and the imagery? 10/10. Some moments had me smiling, while others had me clutching my chest, wondering, is this really happening? And let's not even get started on the steamy scenes-if you're reading in public, be prepared to take a deep breath.
@cynthiaosajibenedict writing is raw, bold, and unapologetic. She doesn't shy away from sensuality and ensures you feel every moment. The only thing that threw me off was some repetition, especially in the dual POVs, but aside from that? She delivered!
If you're looking for something soft and tame, this is not the book for you. But if you're ready for a rollercoaster of passion, emotions, and jaw-dropping moments, then If These Eyes Could Talk is calling your name.
Spice Level: 5/5 (You've been warned!)
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just make sure you're mentally prepared!

Okay, listen, if you’re into stories that are steamy, intense, and emotionally loaded, If These Eyes Could Talk needs to be in your hands ASAP. I got hooked from the first page.

This book is a collection of short stories, and let me just say: Cynthia Osajibenedict did not come to play.

The love affairs in these stories? Hot. Passionate. Sometimes messy. But always with this raw, undeniable attraction that pulls you in and won’t let go.

It’s like reading the pages of someone’s private diary only the kind where all the juicy, complicated love stories are written in bold caps.

My fave story? The Start of Something Wrong.

Whew. That story? Hot and dangerous. The title alone should tell you what you’re in for. It’s about Muna and Lanre, who start off hating each other, but the tension, the chemistry, the emotional rollercoaster, everything about it was a chef’s kiss.

Cynthia’s writing feels like sitting with a friend over wine and spilling tea about that one entanglement you’ll never forget. It’s spicy, emotional, and beautifully written with moments that hit way too close to home.

Would I recommend it? Oh yes. If you love stories that are equal parts romance, chaos, and “oof, I’ve been there”, this is your book.

This is a very honest review!!!!
I didn't read the synopsis before starting the book so I wasn't expecting ten standalone short stories or oneshots. So I was quite surprised to find those stories since I'm a huge plan of short stories.
However, most of the short stories weren't for me. Now if you are someone that loves dark romance level smut or just smut in general then you will enjoy this book, but if you are like me, then I'd advice you stay away😅.
Now to the story lines. Each story has a different plot line, but only three or four stories had a full plot and the rest was just pure smut. And amongst the ones with a full plot only one or two didn't have smut in them so it was quite refreshing.
Regarding the writing style and grammar, everything was on point. I really enjoy how the words flowed and everything like that.
My actual rating is 2.5 stars, but since there is no half, I gave it a three.
in my opinion, most of the stories had potential if the smut was less and the plot was more. If you are looking for a good read to pass away time then this book is not for you, but if you are looking for a Smutty, steamy read then this book is definitely for you.😂😂😂
P S. Most of the characters actions and decisions almost gave me high blood pressure

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I must say, I really enjoyed the story. When she mentioned that it contained a lot of spice, I was all in! She definitely delivered. Be aware that this story is rated 🔞, so if you decide to dive in, go prepared.

The author’s writing style is raw, and I admire her bravery in crafting such sensual scenes. However, I felt that some elements were unnecessarily repeated, particularly in the first story, which featured dual POVs. This made the book somewhat tiring for me initially. Still, the author successfully keeps you hooked and intrigued with every page! 👏

This book contains ten different stories that revolve around various tropes, such as enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, second chance romance, and office romance. These stories evoke strong emotions and passion that you often don't find in other romance novels. The explicit scenes create vivid imagery in your mind.

Overall, this book is quite interesting, and the story that left me speechless has to be that of Chibuike's, "Levin Creek." I kept saying, "God abeg!" because people de do fhingz! 😂 I would recommend this story to fans of steamy and spicy romance.

From the very first page, this book makes it clear that it is here to turn up the heat, and it delivers. This collection of short erotic stories is bold, unapologetic, and sizzling with spice. Cynthia Osaji Benedict doesn’t shy away from sensuality; instead, she embraces it fully, creating an experience that is both daring and delightfully indulgent.

I went into this book blind and was pleasantly surprised by how captivating and addictive the stories were. Each narrative is quick yet satisfying, making this the perfect one-sitting read for anyone looking to escape into something steamy and well-crafted.

What stood out most to me was the author’s voice. It was confident, evocative, and refreshingly honest. It’s incredibly empowering to see Nigerian authors carving out space in the erotic fiction genre and doing it with such flair. Cynthia’s writing normalizes intimacy and pleasure through a cultural lens that’s still underrepresented, and that alone makes this collection special.

If you’re in the mood for something sexy, fast-paced, and fearlessly written, If These Eyes Could Talk is definitely worth picking up.

Where do I start from? Lanre and Muna's story is a personal favorite 😁 those two together, epic. I especially loved reading from their respective POVs
For Jane and David, their story felt like something I shouldn't be rooting for but, I ended up doing the exact thing. What was that ending????
I have a question concerning "The Groom's Woman" what exactly did Kosiyo go back to that spot for?? I need help😂😂
Red Mercedes and Elevator Ride 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 All I could say was Damnnnnnnnn
Kamso and Amanda's story was giving me nostalgia for Fr Amadi and Kambili in Purple Hibiscus. It was a connection so pure. I wished more for them
As for Chibuike in Levin Creek, I kept screaming "ewoooooo" "ahhhhh" Nneka's story (Transcendence) reminded me that not all love stories end in happily ever after and it's perfectly okay. I'm just glad she got to experience genuine and wholesome love
Whoops, I guess I know where to start after all.
This book gave me 10 amazing and beautifully written stories. At some point, my brain felt overly stimulated but, in a good way❤️

If you’re reading this comment: please read this book! It is an intoxicating blend of passion, longing, and raw emotion. The writing is breathtaking—every word, every sentence, feels like poetry that grips your mind and refuses to let go.

I truly believe this book will become a modern classic, standing proudly beside It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, and Seven Days in June by Tia Williams. It’s the kind of story that makes your heart race, your breath hitch, and your mind linger on every stolen glance and whispered confession.

The depth of desire, the complexity of love, and the emotional intensity in these pages will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last one. One thing that stood out for me is how unique the book is. I’ve not seen a Nigerian author brave enough to write a book this sexy! Or sensual, with such raw passion and I love it

🔥 This isn’t just a book—it’s an experience, every single story. 🔥

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this book, and I think that’s a good thing. While I enjoyed some stories and felt so-so about others, a few of them were hard to get through. Not because they were necessarily bad, but because they explored almost taboo relationships/scenarios that I struggled with reading about. But if we’re honest with ourselves, these things happen in real life. They deserve to be written about. I won’t add any spoilers, but if you read the book you’ll know the ones I’m referring to.
I really liked how the first story was told from multiple perspectives; I wish one or two more stories were told in a similar style. I don’t typically read smut so this was a good introduction. Overall, it was a nice short read. If adult romance (or smut) is your thing, definitely give this a read.

I went into this book expecting a compelling collection of short stories, something emotional or even thought-provoking. Unfortunately, it didn’t deliver. The book lacked a clear plot or narrative structure, and most of the stories felt like loosely connected scenes centered around repetitive and unrealistic sexual encounters.
One thing that really stood out and not in a good way was the complete absence of SAFE SEX practices. There was no mention of protection which made several scenes uncomfortable to read.
The dialogue often felt forced, making it difficult to connect with the characters or their motivations. While I’m all for steamy reads when done well, this didn’t feel engaging or authentic. It became a real challenge to finish, and I found myself more frustrated than entertained.

Sadly, this one just wasn’t for me.

I just finished this book and I’m not surprised by how good it is because I’ve read a book from the author and it didn’t disappoint as well. This book speaks a lot to me about hope, love, rekindling old connections, personal struggles and most importantly, enjoying sex as a woman. Growing up in a society where women are ashamed to admit to enjoying intimacy and the gap between satisfaction, this author writes beautifully about women’s pleasure and casual/comfort sex which entirely breaks the purity culture. I enjoyed every story in this book—it’s a book that has about 10 chapters following the lives of 10 people, taking the reader through their lives, love, and keeping you entertained and hooked too. It was an amazing read for me, 4 stars because I didn’t like one of the tropes, beautiful book otherwise.
Thank you, Cynthia

Umm I have a lot to say about this book but I’m going to try and keep it short, as short as I can.

“If these eyes could talk” has fire in every single page, i have never read anything like this and I’m still in awe at how good and hot a collection of short stories can be and still be packed with lots of emotions.

This book not only kept me hooked from page one but let me anticipating how much more was waiting for me in the remaining pages as I read on.

One of favorite story so far has to be the one with Amanda and Kamso. I don’t know why but I really felt that part and I loved it.

Overall i think this book is beautiful with wonderful stories and excellent writing with interesting characters as well.

Okay. Phew
First of all, if you're into stories that are intense, steamy, and will leave a long lasting emotional impact on you, "If These Eyes Could Talk" is definitely for you.

This book is a collection of ten stories with vast tropes, including forbidden romance, office romance, and enemies to lovers. Believe me, the explicit scenes are going to remain etched in your memory for a reallyyyy long time.

I love how Tasha didn't just focus on the spiciness of the stories but gave it a rich plot, and added depth to every character.
Her imagery and descriptive prowesss, too >>

My favorites were The Start of Something Wrong— I honestly feel we need a separate book to tell Muna and Lanre's story, The Groom's Woman, Red Mercedes, Dilemma, and Levin Creek.

This book is a collection of short stories centered around sexual encounters in different forms.

I'm really not into smut or anything to sexually explicit. That's probably why I didn't really enjoy this book.
I had a few issues with some of the cultural references in this book example: no student in Nigeria is eating ramen and frozen burritos as a regular meal, and some of the stories felt rushed and forced.

Some of the stories ended with cliff-hangers that didn't really make sense, in my opinion.

Overall, though, it was an okay read for me. If you're into smut or anything like that, you'd enjoy this.

If these eyes could talk is a piece that does an interesting merge of stories that will tug at your emotions while also causing your body to tingle.

A collection of 10 short stories, it comes across as steamy, spicy, erotic (trust me, there is enough spice to go round🤭); but also tells stories of what lies beneath individuals and their choices…the truth people carry underneath and how it drives them in their search for “feeling”.

On forbidden love, romantic relationships, friendships and the grey areas that make up human desire.
This is also my first impression of the author's writing and I’m interested in seeing more of her work💜

I thought I had sent this out here but I hadn't.

If These Eyes Could Talk was such an engaging read!

I really enjoyed how diverse the stories were—each one carried its own voice and left me thinking about it long after. The author manages to capture different perspectives in a way that feels fresh and exceptional.

Some were tender, some were heavy, but all were exceptional in the way they lingered after I turned the last page. I loved how the author captured emotion so vividly that I often found myself pausing to reflect before moving on. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t just entertain; it makes you listen closely to the lives within its pages. Truly a rewarding and memorable read.

This is my first read from Cynthia OsajiBenedict and I absolutely loved it.

If These Eyes Could Talk is a romantic anthology that you should absolutely devour. Despite the short time spent, it still manages to build on the characters and delves into various stories in the most intentional way. The emotional connections are superb and are crafted to enhance the characters’ quality. With sub-genres of romance such as enemies to lovers, this book is an absolute page-turner and is totally recommended.

If These Eyes Could Talk is bold, emotional, and unapologetically steamy. Cynthia Osajibenedict crafts ten unforgettable short stories that explore love, lust, and everything in between. This is the first Nigerian book I’ve read with such heavy erotica, and honestly? It was refreshing. The stories are raw, honest, and filled with messy, real characters navigating relationships across Lagos, the US, and the UK. There’s drama, forbidden love, and moments that had me blushing and flipping pages like my life depended on it. I loved every bit of it.
