Nicole has spent years holding down her family, standing by Jamil through every high and low. But when life delivers one setback too many—his job loss, their lights getting cut off, and secrets stacking higher than unpaid bills—her patience starts to wear thin. As Jamil turns back to the streets to keep them afloat, Nicole finds herself gravitating toward a different kind of security—the steady, undeniable pull of Dr. Devaughn Jacobs, her successful high school sweetheart who never stopped wanting her.
Caught between a love she built and a love she never got to explore, Nicole faces the hardest decision of her life. But when Jamil’s choices drag their family into a dangerous game, and the weight of the past collides with the temptation of the future, the lines between loyalty, survival, and love blur in ways she never expected.
How far will Nicole go to protect herself and her children? Will Jamil’s choices finally cost him everything? And when the heart is at war with reality, is love ever enough?

This was literally one of those it’s within arms reach manifest the life you want type kind of book. I felt so bad and heartbroken for Nicole because she was not able to catch a break, but she also pisses you off. Because you never miss a good thing until it’s gone you get your good thing just to mess it up because of your past. I don’t think there’s anything worse than someone rooting for you and there for you that you’re able to depend on just to be that same person that robs you of your happiness or Once your spot. There are some unanswered questions because we still don’t know what’s the real means reason behind Manny looking into Nicole. My heart really goes out to Nicole and Jamil because it just seems like they literally were going to be able to come out of everything on top and get everything that they wanted, but life always gets in the way. Simply this book just shows you that we’re all human. We’re all capable of making mistakes and what links will go to to make sure that we keep our head above water as well as how our emotions get the best of us or feed into our vulnerability and we can fuck up a really good thing.
I enjoyed the book from beginning to end.. Oh what a tangled web you weave when you practice to deceive. Brad and Jamil was hand in hand crazy. I know DeVaughn did what he did out of hurt, pain and as a revenge get back but Shay turned out to be a backstabbing friend. Should Nicole leave Jamil in jail....hmmm. I hope book 2 coming soon.

Torica Tymes has done it again. I love this book. Nicole had it all and it once again is lost. I hope her and Jamil can come back from this tragedy. After losing Devaughn and her getting back friends with Shay after her betrayal. Nicole deserves to be happy.
