The thrilling conclusion to the Lizzie & Darcy Mysteries duology, following Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy from the Jane Austen Murder Mysteries series!
A Bingley family curse looms over Lizzie's sister and Darcy's best friend—but are the dark forces at work supernatural or human?
Lizzie Bennet’s beloved sister Jane has just married Darcy’s best friend, Bingley, and the Bennet family and Darcy are paying the newlyweds a visit at Bingley’s family home, Netherfield Park. It doesn’t take long for their country retreat to turn into an investigation, though, when a long-dead body is discovered stuffed up the parlor chimney.
The locals are convinced that Netherfield is cursed, but Lizzie and Darcy know better than to believe in such nonsense and are determined to uncover the truth about what happened to the mysterious man in the chimney. But as they dig deeper into the history of Netherfield Park, they find that danger is waiting for them around every corner. Soon enough, they’re forced to consider if the curse might have some merit to it, or if there’s something—or someone—far more sinister behind their near brushes with death….
This duology closer is a daring and delightful conclusion to the chronicles of supersleuths Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy!

I have mixed feelings about this book. The pacing was uneven, too slow at times and then fast at the end. The plot was interesting and I enjoyed the mystery aspect. There were several surprises that left me shocked. The writing was easy to follow and engaging, but it was average. I enjoyed reading the story from both Darcy and Lizzie’s perspectives, it was interesting to see how the events varied based on their perspectives. I like Lizzie, she was brave, hardworking, ambitious, fierce, but she was also stubborn and didn’t make the bast decisions. I also liked Darcy but he felt flat at times, I didn’t quite feel the depth of his emotions. The side characters were fun especially Lizzie’s family, Darcy’s sister, Georgina, Guy (adorable dog), and Sally. I enjoyed the banter between Darcy and Lizzie as well as the tension. I didn’t quite feel the spark between them and the development of their relationship could’ve been explored more. There was also a lack of romantic scenes between Lizzie and Darcy. I’m glad that the mystery was resolved but I was there was more of a bit explanation on the reasoning behind the mystery. I enjoyed the ending, but it felt rushed. Overall this book was okay, but the pacing was uneven, the romance was underdeveloped and the ending was rushed.
Tirzah Price’s Jane Austen Murder Mystery series is exactly what I need right now! This last installment in Lizzie and Darcy’s story brings together all of the wonderful things from the other PP focused books (Pride and Premeditation and In Want of A Suspect) with off-page cameos from Tirzah’s two other interconnected standalones (Sense and Second Degree Murder and Manslaughter Park) to create a truly satisfying ending for my favorite Austen pairing. This is peak cozy mystery and while the romance is there, it’s a subplot in the way I think Austen would be proud of-there is so much more to both main characters than their romantic relationship. You will definitely want to read at least Pride and Premeditation and In Want of a Suspect before picking this up as there are many references to events in both, but the central mystery for much of the book is independent of other storylines in case you don’t have time to refresh before picking this up. While I will miss Lizzie and Darcy focused books by this author, it does feel like the warm goodbye that I’d hoped to see. Thank you to Harper Collins/Storytide for this ARC!
Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.
Why would there only be two books in this series? Why end here? Or is this just going to be the end of this but start of spin-off? I don't understand 😕
Really loved this book and take on Lizzie and Darcy. I really can see Elizabeth Bennett fighting for her right to be a lawyer if the thought had ever occurred to her. Although I think it would be more likely that Mary Bennett would consider that that Lizzie. 🤔
Really hope to see more books set in this world. Either way, I will be looking to see what else this author writes. Definitely would recommend.
A thrilling end to the Lizzie and Darcy series and I was sad to see it end. I got to commend Price for thinking of such a really interesting twist to these beloved characters in having them be solicitors solving murders with mortal peril at every turn. The modern language took me out of the book a couple times but it did not stop me from continuing until the end, it was too entertaining and the characters stuck close to how Austen portrayed them, personality wise. Hope there will be more retellings, with a twist, with Austen’s other works in the future.
A Matter of Murder was such a fun time and a great conclusion to the series!
The new mystery: Darcy and the Bennet family visit newlyweds Jane and Charles at Netherfield to protect Lizzie from the wrath of Lady Catherine (revamped as a pirate in this one!) who is out for vengeance after Lizzie and Darcy foiled yet another one of her schemes in the last book. Unfortunately, when a body is discovered in the chimney, they find out Netherfield is apparently cursed! Anyone who stays the night is cursed to die unless they stay forever. Add in scheming mothers, hidden passages, secret treasures, *chef's kiss.*
So, like I said, this one is a fun time. There were a lot more nods and parallels to the original Pride & Prejudice, but as always, I like that the story is kept fresh and entertaining for a new generation of readers, who might not have read the original work. Tirzah Price does a fabulous job of making the story her own, and weaving a mystery that feels unpredictable yet satisfying!
Also there were SO many sweet moments between Darcy and Lizzie! I loved seeing their relationship grow across the books, and I really appreciated how the tackled tough issues in their relationship that were so timely to the period the book takes place. It all felt very true to the characters, and added even more depth to the characters and story!
Also, these books have the most gorgeous, unique covers! I love how they're made to look like needle work, but there's so many little clues and nods to the story woven in and the colors are stunning!
There were a handful of things that kept it from being a five star read for me, mainly to sum it all up: I didn't love how the ending played out. There were so many things happening in that last 20% that left me on the edge of my seat and absolutely devouring this book, and so I expected it to end on a bang (which lol it kinda did in a way, if you know you know), but it wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped. I don't want to spoil too much, but I didn't love that we were left with some loose ends for both Lady Catherine and Caroline. I also was a bit annoyed that new characters in the story who weren't all that centered in the story are sort of the heroes in the end--I didn't hate those characters (they were kind of just there?) but it was odd that they were suddenly given such an integral part of the story. And finally, I was a bit disappointed in the final scene with Darcy and Lizzie. I can't really say much or risk spoiling, but it felt a bit disappointing, especially with so much leading up to that moment. However, it was cute in it's own way.
In the end, this was such a great read! I finished it in only a couple of sittings, and I was so glad to get the ARC after finishing the first in the duology! I am so excited to see what Tirzah Price writes next now that she's finished with this series!
By the way, suggested reading order: Jane Austen Murder Mystery Series: *Pride and Premeditation *Sense and Second- Degree Murder *Manslaughter Park A Lizzie and Darcy Mystery Series: *In Want of a Suspect *A Matter of Murder
Lizzie and Darcy are the main characters in Pride and Premeditation and both Lizzie and Darcy Mystery books, so definitely read them in order, but they only appear in Sense and Second- Degree Murder and Manslaughter Park, so you could skip those two or hold off on them if you wanted.
Thank you Netgalley and Harper Colllins for this ARC!
Another entertaining adventure featuring our favorite solicitors/investigators Lizzie and Darcy, not only does this one have an intriguing decades-old mystery, but we finally have our confrontation with Lady Catherine! Like the preceding book in the series, this one is billed as the second half of a “Lizzie and Darcy” mystery duology, but I would consider it book #5 in the Jane Austen Murder Mystery series, because I feel like you’d be pretty lost at figuring out the existing relationships if you just read this one or even just one and In Want of a Suspect.
My favorite parts of this book are, of course, seeing Lizzie and Darcy work so well together, trusting each other and depending on one another. Of course, it’s not all easy sailing, like when Darcy sides a little too much with Lizzie’s father in the “does Lizzie need our protection” discussion, but Lizzie eventually tells Darcy her real issue with that: she wants to be listened to and trusted. And Darcy does hear her. I love that their being together is a foregone conclusion for each of them: they love each other, and each knows it, now it’s just about figuring out how to make it work so they are both happy.
As for the mysteries in this one, some of the twists and turns, I could guess, but definitely not all of them! It doesn’t help clarify things when the mysteries overlap, and we don’t know who is telling the truth and who’s just a really good liar. I couldn’t put this one down, I had to know what happened next! And I also loved visiting this version of Netherfield Hall, and, at long last, Pemberley.
Definitely pick this series up if you are a fan of Austen adaptions and mysteries. I’m sad to hear this is the last in the series, as I feel like with their new partnership, we could potentially have lots of adventures with Lizzie and Darcy, but maybe one day, we’ll see another.
Such a perfect conclusion to this duology. I really enjoyed the Lizzie and Darcy dynamic and the mystery itself was fast paced and kept me on my toes. That last 10% was a whirlwind of drama! I’m always a fan of Pride and prejudice retellings and this one has quickly become one of my favorites- I don’t want this series to end!!!!
Hopefully we could get a Charlotte book in the future? Hint hint wink wink 😉
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review
I am so sad to be finishing this series! I absolutely adored Pride and Premeditation, and I loved In Want of A Suspect. I've been anticipating A Matter of Murder with excitement and dread that the series would be complete.
The murderous adventures of Lizzie and Darcy continued in this final installment of the trilogy, and it was truly a solid ending to such a great series.
Throughout the mysteries Lizzie and Darcy attempt to solve, Tirzah Price was able to consistently incorporate comedy and romance. She plays on the wit of Jane Austen's original characters while still making the story fresh and engaging. Truly, this book (and series) could have stood as it's own creation outside of the label of a retelling.
A Matter of Murder was a great book, but I did feel as though it had a slightly different feeling than the other books in the series. I guess the other books felt a little more... dire? The romance felt big. The mysteries even bigger. The characters felt more complicated. There just seemed to be a little more on the line than in this book. I think a lot of that probably has to do with the setting - this book taking place in the countryside instead of London.
That being said, I still enjoyed this read very much! It was incredibly funny and heartfelt. The mystery of it all was fun, and the varying mystery plots proved to be very engaging. Even as one storyline was wrapping up, I was thinking about another that still hadn't been settled yet. I also liked the new characters introduced in this novel. However, I do wish the house would have been a little more of a character in itself. It was there in some ways, but I wish there could have been more. Truly a testament to Price's writing to create a new setting that I wanted even more of!
As much as I liked the plot of this novel by itself, I also thought it was a great vessel to wrap up the series with. There were no glaring plot holes by the end of the book, and if there were small ones, I haven't discovered them. That being said, I'm not going to claim perfection - who knows what I could realize later?
It was such a pleasure to follow Lizzie and Darcy on their adventures through these books. I fell in love with the original characters in 7th grade, and I am so protective of them. To be able to read a reimagining, love it, and know the author values the originals as much as I do was truly special and rare. This series is one of my favorite in the murder mystery genre.
I loved this series so much, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys humor, romance, mystery, and Austen herself. As sad as I am to be finished with this series, it just makes me more excited to get to revisit the books again.
“She saw how he didn’t like this plan one bit. And she knew that his protests weren’t because he wanted to control her or limit her, but because he wanted her to be safe. But this world wasn’t safe, and Lizzie had never been one to back down from a challenge. She knew Darcy understood that, but he needed a moment to accept it.”
In the conclusion to the Lizzie & Darcy Mysteries duology, Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy face foes both old and new as they solve the mystery of the Bingley family curse. Now that Lizzie’s sister, Jane, and Darcy’s friend, Bingley, are married, Darcy and the Bennet family decide to visit them at their countryside estate, Netherfield Park. However, a peaceful visit to the country quickly turns sinister when a dead body is discovered stuffed up the chimney in the parlor. Lizzie and Darcy jump on the case, trying to discover the identity of this old corpse and the murderer. The town believes Netherfield Park is cursed, and while Lizzie and Darcy don’t believe in curses, they can’t deny the many mysterious dangers lurking within the house. Is it truly the curse at work, or is there someone else after them?
A Matter of Murder was the perfect end to Lizzie and Darcy’s story. Price’s first novel about the pair, Pride and Premeditation, was actually one of the first advanced reader’s copies I received. The moment I read it, I knew she had written something special. Lizzie and Darcy have an unprecedented amount of witty banter, and the banter didn’t end when they finally got together. Paired with that banter was a very deep understanding of each other that you don’t get in every YA relationship. Darcy respects Lizzie’s goals and her independence, and he truly enjoys seeing her in her element, working on a case. Lizzie also grew so much as a character in this final installment by recognizing how her reckless actions can affect those closest to her, especially Darcy. They are both extraordinary as individuals, yet they make each other better. The mystery of Netherfield Park was a fun one to read. The change of scenery from London to the countryside was a welcome one, and it kept their story fresh and interesting. At the beginning of the book, the mystery felt impossible to solve (which is how you know it’s gonna be a good one). Price included so many unique details in the case that I absolutely loved. Some plot points I guessed early on, but some reveals had me audibly gasping. Price’s writing is also very reminiscent of Jane Austen’s, creating an extra layer to the historical atmosphere of the book. Lizzie and Darcy’s books are among my favorite historical mysteries, and A Matter of Murder is Price’s best book yet.
A Matter of Murder releases on November 11th, 2025.

I received an ARC of A Matter of Murder by Tirzah Price from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 3 of the loosely named series, although it is not strictly necessary to read the previous books. All books in this series are retellings of Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, with a different spin. The series starts with Pride and Prescience, then In Want of a Suspect, and now A Matter of Murder. I did not read Pride and Prescience first, but got the book box of In Want of a Suspect from Once Upon a Book Club, LOVED IT, and immediately requested the ARC of this book.
This book follows Elizabeth Bennet as a solicitor in her father's company and Darcy who is a solicitor in his father's company. They collaborate on many cases, and met when they were both investigating a case involving Bingley, with the criminal Lady Catherine de Bourgh. In this book, they are at Netherfield for a holiday after threats arrived to Lizzie. Bingley inherited the property from an elderly aunt and he and Jane moved there to begin repairs shortly after their marriage. But, strange things are happening here also and the case just sort of lands in their laps.
What I loved: EVERYTHING! You have the whole Bennett family present, plus Charlotte, Darcy, Jane, Bingley and Caroline. Almost everything from the original storyline makes an appearance of some sort or another, and in sometimes very humorous ways. And, I love the idea of Lizzie being a solicitor, because you could really see it. In the original book she was always independent, intelligent, proud, and stubborn-which are all qualities she still is in this book, just differently as a solicitor. I love how much of Darcy we get to see. I love their dog, Guy. I love the bits with another favorite character of mine, which I won't say because of spoilers. I love the mystery surrounding Netherfield.
What I didn't love: Honestly, there was not much here. I really enjoyed so much that these are just personal preferences. I would have loved to see a little more characterization or interactions with Mr. Bennett, Mrs. Bennett, Mary, Kitty and Lydia and even Charlotte. They are characters in the book and there or nearby when things are happening, but just not much mentioned. And, even Darcy is not hugely characterized but we know him and his personality based on the original book and the previous ones in this series.
Would I recommend it? Yes, absolutely. Especially to those that loved Pride and Prejudice and love retellings of the classic.
*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*
4.75/5
In this delightful conclusion to the Lizzie and Darcy Mystery duology, murder is no longer confined to the busy streets of London! On the run from Lady Catherine, Lizzie and her family (and Darcy and Guy too, of course) have absconded to Netherfield Park-- Lizzie's beloved sister, Jane, and her husband's new home. However, the grand house has been kept in a dilapidated state by Bingley's reclusive aunt and the young couple have been working hard to not only bring their home back into its former glory, but also befriend the locals (with middling success on both).
However, when a body is shockingly discovered in a chimney flue, whispers of the Netherfield curse are suddenly inescapable. Determined to help her sister and finally put to rest all that curse nonsense, Lizzie decides to solve the mystery of the murder and prove nothing supernatural haunts the Bingley family. But when Lizzie and Darcy keep finding themselves in dangerous situations, the two level-headed solicitors may be questioning everything they thought they knew...
This entire Jane Austen re-imagining collection has been so much fun, and I am actually devastated it may be ending! While it's definitely not historically accurate, there's something so special about this world that Price has created; it's lively, a little silly, but also comforting. Lizzie and Darcy have been re-imagined for a more modern (and younger) audience, but have that same push-and-pull and familiarity I always look for in re-imaginings.
A MATTER OF MURDER is definitely the most domestic out of the two books, but I loved the opportunity Price took to really explore some well-known settings and characters (with new twists, of course). I know I keep saying it, but this book was just such a fun read! And while I'm thrilled we've gotten this much material, I'm still waiting for an Emma retelling...
As a die-hard historical mystery fan, I am thrilled to announce that there is a new must-read series: The Lizzie and Darcy Mysteries! I've read each one as they've come out, and I want to thank the publisher for allowing me to read A Matter of Murder as an e-arc. All opinions expressed here are my own.
When Elizabeth, Charlotte, her family, and Fitzwilliam Darcy go to visit Bingley and Jane at the Bingley family home, Netherfield Park, it quickly turns from a social visit into an investigation. There is a body stuffed up a fireplace---one that appears to have been there for some time. Lizzy and Darcy are determined to discover who has committed this crime, and who exactly was in the fireplace, all while trying to define their own relationship and evading the elusive Lady Catherine.
I adored the romance in this book, and how it was done in the typical Jane Austen style---not quite on the back burner, but not the entire focus of the book. The setting of Netherfield Park was also fantastic, and the new characters introduced are very memorable.
As a person who tends to hate when book series don't end the exact way I wanted them to, I can definitely say that A Matter of Murderwas a phenomenal ending. The mysteries wrapped up perfectly, and so did Lizzy and Darcy themselves (maybe we can get a bonus short story about them soon??)
The one criticism I have is the fact that the book did feel a little split in half. Once the mystery of the body in the chimney is solved, the characters relocate to , where the plot seemed to change and focused more on the Lady Catherine portion of the drama, and seemed to forget about the original plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and even though I am going to be sad to say goodbye to these characters, I am satisfied that Tirzah Price has done them justice!
The past few months I've been on a Pride & Prejudice variation/re-telling spree so when I finished the 2nd book in this series early last month and saw the 3rd was available for an ARC, I had to snap it up. I really love this version of Lizzie + Darcy and Price brings such a fresh take to their relationship by supporting Lizzie in all ways, not just in ways that could benefit him. I'm such a sucker for a down bad man, and this Darcy is down baaaad. The cast of characters whom we've met over the course of the other two books were always great along with the inclusion of Georgiana. Instead of making her meek and a little naive as many authors tend to do, Price wrote her as feral in the best way possible. Which was a surprising take that I actually really adored...would love to see more of her!
Price always seems to find a mystery that's engaging within the period that still aligns to things modern day readers would understand so I was able to suspend my disbelief while also feeling like some aspects of the period were researched. It's a difficult balance that I think Price does really well in these retellings.
That said, this book did drag a little in parts but the back half picked up really well and was really fun and sweet. I'm almost sad we've concluded our arc with Lizzie + Darcy. I'd love to see them continue solving mysteries together.
All in all a really solid conclusion to Price's P&P adjacent series and I'm really glad I got to read it early! 4 ⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley + HarperCollins for the opportunity to review an ARC for A Matter of Murder!
Thank you so much to the publisher for the gifted eARC! All opinions are my own.
I have been anxiously awaiting the sequel to “In Want of a Suspect,” and Tirzah Price did not disappoint!
The final installment in the duology, “A Matter of Murder” follows Lizzie and Darcy, as they avoid the wrath of Lady Catherine. It gives us a mystery, a curse, and a hidden treasure. We get everything.
Ok, we all loved the Darcy-hand-flex moment in the 2005 Pride & Prejudice film adaptation, but Price has gifted us an even better moment. A Darcy-awestruck-hand-to-his-heart moment, when he sees Lizzie. Talk about going weak at the knees. This book is dual POV, so we get all the Darcy yearning, from his perspective. Price gifted us inside the brain of a the supportive, caring, loving Fitz, and I ate it up.
Lizzie is true to Lizzie. She’s a little bit reckless, but it’s tied so well into the restrictions of the time period. Price balances the social constructs of the time with progressive main characters. It’s masterfully done.
We also get justice for Charlotte. She deserved better and Price delivered!
Honestly, this book was like pulling on a favorite sweater. It has all of the characters and elements from Austen novels, but with a twist. It’s exciting, it’s beautifully written, and we get more of our favorite characters. Price so wonderfully captures the personalities of Austen’s characters, and gives us what all Austenites want!
Obstinate, headstrong girl that she is, Lizzie has found herself in the midst of another mystery. While trying to get out of London (and out from Lady Catherine's all-seeing eye), Lizzie and her family, and her suitor (of sort) Mr. Darcy, go and visit Jane and Bingley in the country at their new estate, Netherfield Park. Only once they're there, they stumble upon a dead body, a treasure, a curse, and more. But never fear, with Lizzie on the case, and Darcy covering her six, they're sure to get to the bottom of this!
---
I really love this world that Tirzah Price has created, because it maintains the Regency-era magic while injecting some new ideas and mystery into a well-loved story. I wish there would be more mysteries for Lizzie and Darcy to solve because I think their dynamic -- feisty FMC running headfirst into trouble and stoic MMC running right behind her to keep her out of trouble -- is something I could never get tired of reading! I think that this book wasn't quite as good as the previous one, and I think a big part of that was the setting. I missed being in Mayfair/London, with the city vibes and mischief! Netherfield Park and the surrounding village were great, but they didn't have quite the same magic to me. I also have to say, I loved the parts near the end that were callbacks to the original Pride and Prejudice book (Lizzie and Darcy's conversation when dancing, Lizzie's reaction to Pemberley, etc.) -- made my heart so happy!!
🔥 A cursed name. A hidden corpse. A truth buried deep within Netherfield’s walls. This time, even reason may not be enough to keep them alive.
First Line: “Oh, Netherfield Park at last!” Mrs. Bennet cried as she stepped out of the carriage that had come to a stop in front of the elegant manor house.
Reasons to Read: 🕯️ Cursed Estate – A celebratory visit to Netherfield Park turns deadly when a long-hidden body is discovered in the chimney, reviving whispers of a Bingley family curse. 🧩 Rational Sleuths – Lizzie and Darcy dig into the estate’s dark history, determined to separate superstition from sinister human motives. ⚠️ Escalating Peril – As near-death encounters stack up, the pair must decide whether they’re facing an old legend or a very real killer closing in.
Thoughts: This is the second book in this series, and since I just read the first one, we moved on to the second, and I of course read it again with my buddy Erin. It surprised me because I enjoyed this book even more than the first, because while they are still solving 2 mysteries, the environment and the mystery itself was exactly what I wanted for this time period. If you are new to the series, I suggest reading the previous series first to get a feel for the new take on characters, especially if you are really familiar with their connections in Jane Austen’s original work. There are a lot of changes but over all it’s a very fun read.
As with any of Tirzah Price's Jane Austen books, I could not put this one down! A great conclusion to Lizzie and Darcy's story.
I loved Lizzie & Darcy's dynamic! I was obsessed with how much Darcy cared for Lizzie and wanted her safe. Also, how much he accepted her for who she was and who she wanted to be. Lizzie irked me a bit in this one cause she was so determined to beat Lady Catherine and put herself in harms way but it was because she cared so much for the safety of her family and loved ones, which is understandable. I especially loved how much she stood up for Jane. I also enjoyed Mr. Bennet's character in this one! He was very quiet in the previous books and I am glad he had more of a presence in this one.
I enjoyed the plot and the mystery they were trying to solve. I genuinely did not know whodunit and was shocked at the reveal and the story behind it. Some of the scenes that took place at Netherfield had my heart racing. Also, the last 15% was great as well. It had me on the edge of my seat.
I am so sad that this is the last Lizzie and Darcy book! They will forever have my heart! (Fingers crossed we'll get a novella maybe?!)
I would definitely recommend this book/series to fellow murder mystery fans!
Thank you to HarperCollins and NetGalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
the one in which Lizzie and Darcy try to solve an old murder case in the countryside.
first of all, I am so sad that this series is only a duology and not as I hoped at least a trilogy. I always have so much fun reading the books of this author that I had kind of wished to spend a little more time with these characters.
I do think this book wrapped up their story nicely. I really really enjoyed the main mystery and I am a sucker for court room scenes, which it delivered. I’m not sure I liked how the overarching plot/mystery got wrapped up but I also didn’t remember much of it of the previous book so maybe that’s why.
I will keep an eye out for the authors future books, even if she’s leaving Lizzie and Darcy behind.
Thank you to netgalley for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review!
What a great finish to this duology! I thoroughly enjoyed so many things about this book. It captures the spirit of these Jane Austen characters so well in this alternate universe, while bringing in a variety of supporting characters that I truly enjoyed. While I did see one plot point coming, much of the book happily surprised me. Once I hit the mid-way point, I just couldn't put it down until I'd seen it to the end. This was a really wonderful historical cozy mystery with absolutely marvelous narrators. I can't believe I hadn't checked out the audiobooks of this series before. The voices, the vibes, the whole thing was just really well done. If you're a fan of Jane Austen, historical fiction, or cozy mysteries, I definitely recommend this series to you!
3.75⭐️ I will never skip a Pride and Prejudice retelling!
A great ending to this series!
The balance between humor, romance, and mystery was done so well. I really loved exploring this alternate world that was created with characters that I love so much.
I think that I enjoyed in Want of a Suspect just a little more than this one, but it was still a super fun mystery. This one was a little slower for me in the middle and then it sped up again nearing the end.
The narrators did a great job with the audiobook. I found them to be super engaging to listen to.
Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Audio, and Storytide for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
💕 I love Lizzie and Darcy! This duo has been a great blend of charm, wit, and crime solving, with lovely nods to Austen characters.
I fell in love during Pride and Premeditation and the duology had continued their adventures in a charming manner. As for the mysteries, the twists and turns are enjoyable and they wrapped up well.
So thankful I was able to read this ARC while I wait for the book I pre-ordered to arrive! 💕
The latest of the author’s Lizzie and Darcy mysteries; when Jane and Bingley move into their estate, rumors fly about a curse that condemns to an unexpected death to anyone who spends the night there. When a body is found stuffed up the flue of a disused room, Darcy and Lizzie investigate. How can they find out the why until they figure out the who? Mystery lovers will be satisfied and Jane Austen fans will rejoice. EARC from Edelweiss.
What an excellent conclusion to the series! You know there’s going to be a major showdown with Lady Catherine, and it didn’t disappoint. And it felt like the stakes were much higher than previous books. Long time readers will be pleased! Also, I loved the dual narration. It was as if the narrators had conferred with one another because their voices for each character were so in sync. I could listen to either actors voice forever. Thanks to Storytide for the eaudio ARC.
I'm sad because this is the end of these Pride and Prejudice inspired mysteries featuring Lizzie and Darcy as solicitors who solve mysteries.
It was well-paced with compelling lead characters, I breezed right through this book. There's also developments with the budding romance between Lizzie and Darcy. It's not a case of will they/won't they but when will they, given the stakes are much higher for Lizzie if she marries, namely her independence. There's a few squee! moments that I found delightful.
The mystery was also entertaining and I wish there were more to come. While you can read it as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading Pride and Premeditation and In Want of a Suspect first to get the full enjoyment.
Loved it.
Thanks to HarperCollins Children's and Netgalley for the ARC.
I really need Tirzah to change her mind and continue this series because I love these books so much! Lizzie and Mr. Darcy feel so modern and fresh while managing to also stay true to the Pride & Prejudice archetypes that we all know and love. I love the dual POVs and this was an excellently paced and brilliantly done murder mystery, start to finish.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
the plot in this book was so interesting and kept me on my toes but the romance was lacking in my opinion. to be honest, that wouldn’t bother me if I hadn’t been expecting a lot more progression in Darcy and Lizzie’s relationship. also his proposal was a let down after the whole book lead up to it. if you want an interesting mystery than this’ll be great for you but if you’re looking for romance, you’ll probably be disappointed :( 3.5🌟

After Lizzie receives a threat to their family in London they go to Lizzie's sister Jane's estate in the country. The home is rumored to be cursed made worse by finding a body hidden in the chimney. Then the threat finds them again. Lizzie and Mr. Darcy must protect the Bennet family from their enemy. Enjoyable cozy mystery in Jane Austen's London. Received this book from Goodreads for an honest review.
4.5 - I am so sad to see this series wrap up. But the author did it perfectly. I think this was my favorite mystery out of the 3 books.
Something i appreciate about how the author wrote these books is that while they are very different than the original story, she makes nods to the original book. I always grinned like a child when a character would quote the original story.
All in all I think these are a fantastic “retelling” of P&P!
This in a certain way seemed like an end, and the big storyline that began in Pride and Premeditation and continued in In Want of a Suspect finally wraps up, but I really hope there are more Lizzie and Darcy mysteries. It would also be fun to have more Dashner sister private investigator mysteries too.
