I have been wanting to read this series and when The Complete Series was offered I took the opportunity, I was intimidated by the size of this book because I am usually a novella reader, but I was hooked from the beginning and intrigued by the storyline, it was interesting to see how the characters evolved throughout the series and how and why they made the choices they did.

It’s like a train crash….. you want to look away but you can’t. The longest book I’ve read in a long time. And honestly, it probably could have been cut in half. I feel like I’ve just been thrown in a blender and spun around for 2 days. It started strong, then just got more and more far fetched. The editor needs to be fired too. So many errors throughout. Im actually not entirely sure how I feel about this 750 page marathon. Tired. I’m tired. And underwhelmed. And grossed out.

Woah. This book was twistedddd. It’s too much to rate each individual book so I’m giving it a 4 as a whole. Some books were better than others but overall it was very entertaining. Some parts were a tad repetitive but not enough to take away from the story. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, probably not most people’s cup of tea. Lots of triggers for those who need the warnings. I thought the characters were pretty well developed and liked that there was a book that included Pops’ background. I was not expecting the ending.

I feel like this book started off with just as much descriptive horror as it could, and then fizzled out into nothing. The storyline was ridiculous and really went nowhere. Like a smut book that only has descriptions of sex and nothing else. Like that with horror. Meh.

These books kept my attention and then after the Cult I felt like this was more about shock factor than the storyline. It felt pointless to read after a while because it just felt unrealistic and boring. But yes it is really messed up.

So disappointing. It started out awesome and I really thought it would continue down that path but then it went stupid. I cannot stand animal abuse (it’s my only trigger) and there was too much of it.

The cult aspect was so far fetched it wasn’t even book believable. I thought there would be so much more detail in what it was like to be raised by a serial killer but this book was just a bunch of nonsense about cults and cannibalism.

Boring and it’s friggen too long to have wasted that many hours

2⭐️⭐️ just for the beginning….

Great Read but give it time

When I first started the series I couldn't put the book down. At times I felt just going through the emotions trying to get through each book and other times I couldn't sleep until I got through the next book.

I read up until the age of 18. The first books were great, although there were numerous spelling and other grammatical errors. I ignored those because I enjoyed the experience. Then D, aged and I hated her monologue. She sounded like a two year old even at age 18, despite being labeled as “smart”.
A lot of repetition, I stopped in the middle of book 4…I think. I gave it a few days to see if I could care enough to continue. I did not. I skimmed the rest of the way, while the story continued to dwindle into Wattpad territory. The ending was atrocious and I’m glad I did not dedicate anymore time to this nonsense.
I didn’t really think it was necessary for Sea Cucumber to write a VERY wordy explanation after each book.

Loved it. Read the whole thing in 3 days because I couldn't put it down! The end made me sad though. It was really good at giving you so much hope and then ripping it away. Did NOT end how I expected!

The ever evolving story of Deicide's upbringing, life, and growth throughout was a rollercoaster of emotions. Her inner monologue read very similar to Go Ask Alice which I really enjoyed. I never knew what to expect emotionally from her own actions and the things that happened around and to her. The character development all around was wild. So many questions answered and I loved Pop's story from his POV as well. It's funny to say how sad and emotional I was at the end of it all, but I was. I built this relationship within the story and now it's done and over.

If you really need to feel like a good parent, this book will help you. It is definitely extreme horror and NOT for the faint of heart. The author is a wonderful writer and very descriptive. I gave it 3 stars because, while I respect the writer and how amazing of a writer she is, this book was too much for me. I have learned my limit. 😂 Every single traumatic thing that could happen in a book was wrapped up in this one! I need to go watch a Disney movie now.

Trigger warning: everything. Like...all of them.

This was a disturbing read and parts were very hard to get through, but it was labeled "extreme horror," so it wasn't unexpected. You don't have to like everything that happens in the book. In fact, I would suggest NOT liking it, and feeling that discomfort, means the author did her job well.

I do have to say one thing, though. As the mother of a child who has Down syndrome, that scene really bothered me, but not in the way you might assume. Yes, the baby dying was horrible, but that wasn't an isolated scenario in this book. I was really bothered by the repeated use of the word "disease," and the assumption that Deicide's life would be ruined by that child. I don't think Deicide would have made a good mother to any child, and I think we saw that, but her lack of parenting skills and the child having Down syndrome are two different things. And Down syndrome isn't an illness, or a "disease." You can't catch it. He wasn't sick. The wording bothered me more than the death scene, if we are honest.

That aside, the story was gripping, and I think I loved and hated each character, depending on the book. Addicting read!

Extremely disturbing-inside a cannibal’s mind as she grows up and joins a cult. Written in an odd format with the story and the thoughts, this book makes you cringe. It’s about as horrific as it can get.

This was the longest book/series i have ever read. also the most gruesome. definitely not for the faint hearted. i felt for the main character, Deicide. she went through a lot. the way she was raised by her father was baffling. I felt like some of the book went by very very slow. the ending i didn’t quite expect? just felt rushed/ very ???? the last 20 or so pages. i’m not sure i quite wanted that to be the ending.
overall, it was an interesting read

It feels like a sin to give this book 5 stars.

I also feel like I've been put on some kind of "watch" list.

Every single time I thought it couldn't get worse, the next page proved me wrong. I wanted to gag, scream, cry, throw my kindle to the wall. But my god I feel like the story was executed wonderfully. Obviously, "Raised by a Killer", you go into it knowing things are going to be f*cked. The "Extreme Horror" tag tells you that it's going to be more f*cked than you originally thought. But everything makes sense in why Deicide makes the decisions that she does. Doesn't mean those decisions were right and I wanted to scream at her but they are learned decisions.

I understand the author's feelings about trigger warnings and her reason for not labeling any, but DAMN. A warning could have been nice.

I loved every single one of these books! I was so glad to see that they are all together as one so I could read it all the way through. Ugh my heart couldn’t take Deicide’s ending! She deserved so much more and so much better. And as much as I hated him for most of the story, Pops started to grow on me. The ending could have gone so many different ways, but I think that the one the author chose seemed very fitting for these characters. I would LOVE for this series to continue with Ace! I can’t get enough of the story line!

Raised by a Killer : Extreme Horror the Complete Series by Sea Caummisar
Overall 4 stars

Let me start off by saying I went into Raised by a Killer completely blind. The title alone intrigued me and having the series complete was an added bonus. Not to mention the stories are told from Deicide’s point of view. This alone has made these books that much more interesting. So there are 10 books in this omnibus (Book 1 Age 4, Book 2 Age 10, Book 3 Age 16, Book 4 Age 17, Book 5 Age 18, Book 6 Age 19, Book 7 Age 20, Book 8 Age 21, Book 9 Pops, and Book 10 Age 22).

Book 1 Age 4 was what one would have expected from a single father teaching his daughter responsibilities. At age 4 Deicide is like any other child not understanding the difference between right and wrong but only really knowing what her father and grandmother are teaching her. For Deicide woman are food and because of that she has to learn what is expected of her before she can start school.

Book 2 Age 10 was a interesting one for me. I felt Deicide was maybe portrayed younger than the age of 10. Because of this I had a hard time getting into this particular book. I do have to say though that it did get interesting once her father allowed her to take some revenge on the bully from school. Again more lessons that Deicide had to learn throughout this book as well.

Book 3 Age 16 Deicide is starting to come into her own (in my opinion). She is doing everything a normal teenager would maybe do being raised the way she has been raised. However, here is where it got real interesting. She learns she has an uncle and said uncle is more than just an uncle now. OMG wow what a curve ball that was. Not only did we find out that Deicide’s uncle isn’t her uncle but her half brother but now we learn that he is involved with a cult of sorts and has taken Deicide there.

Book 4 Age 17 is all about the cult that Deicide is now a part of whether she likes it or not. I have to say Book 4 was at times a challenge to read due to the eating of babies but a major part of the story. I felt for Deicide in the end but to be honest throughout Book 4 I was not a fan of Deicide for her choices throughout her pregnancy. I mean really what choices did she have and did she not know how bad drugs were or would be for the baby. One could say she didn’t but then others could say really it was common sense.

Book 5 Age 18 is kind of a not so sure about Deicide’s mental capacity or maybe she is just not mature enough for her age no matter what she has been through. At least now she is out of the cult rescued by her uncle/half brother where she was taken back to her father/half brother’s house. But only long enough to heal just so she can then live on her own. Yeah believe me there have been plenty of moments throughout Book 5 Age 18 that I was like “really” or “what the fuck she can’t be that naive”. And when you think it can’t get any worse or maybe not worse just WOW.

Book 6 Age 19 is where it is official that Deicide is a dominatrix and is dating Ace the drug dealer. Deicide also has not seen nor spoke to her father since the baby incident in Book 5 Age 18. However, when Ace gets shot Deicide takes him to her father’s house just to find out that her father has gone to the cult that almost took her life. Well shit now we are back at the cult. Deicide can’t be that fucking dumb to not be able to read between the lines of what her father has written to her but I fear she is. Although I do have to say it isn’t as bad as the first time Deicide was at the cult until it was. But it did finish on a much happier note now that Lip is dead.

Book 7 Age 20 is kind of a sad one. Deicide has a rough start to motherhood (I’m not sure the baby is really hers). Ace is an amazing father to Bliss (the baby) along with Father being a good grandfather. I was so happy when Ace proposed to Deicide but then to have Ace killed the very next night or the same night (I am not sure) was just rude. I feel Deicide is slowly losing her mind with all the trauma she has been through. I suppose only time will tell.

Book 8 Age 21 was not one of my favorites. Let me just say there was A LOT of “Really”, “You can’t be that naive”, Oh my god what are you doing”, and “No excuses on not really raising your daughter”.

Book 9 Pops was an interesting one. I do have to say I enjoyed reading about Pops (Andy). I feel it gave so much background on how he was raised and why he is the way he is. Not only did it go into detail about Andy’s childhood but also Alec’s (the uncle) background. It also answered a lot of questions about Deicides mom and how all of that transpired. All in all I am glad this book was included in the series.

Book 10 Age 22 didn’t end how I thought it was going to. We did get to kind of see what Jules (Deicide’s mom) has been up to which was nice. Sucks that she didn’t get much time with her. Definitely not the family reunion that I would have expected. Also, I am not sure how I feel about Jules killing herself because Deicide succumbed to her own injuries. I agree that Stacy had it coming so no love lost there. But then Pops offing himself as well, I don’t know I just felt at least he was better than that. To be honest the book was good but left one huge question, “What happened or is going to happen to Bliss (the baby) now that she has no family”?

All in all the series was not what I had expected and was better than I thought it would be. Definitely make sure you are ok with certain triggers before reading this series.

So this was recommended by a few people in my book group, stating it was "So disturbing!" and "I could not finish it, it was so sick!" and thought, hmmm this might be a series for me. I have no idea why I finished this series. From start to finish, these books were just an absolute mess and it just sucked. The ONLY good thing about this book was the FMC name and even then, it was a stretch.

Characters
So the book revolves around Deicide who is raised by her single father who, you guessed it, is a serial killer. The series starts with her at 4 years old and follows her as she grows up to 22. It seemed to make no difference what her age was. Deicide was an absolute idiot, immature and so. Heckin. Stupid. For someone who had been supposed to be smart and raised the way she was, she made ALL the wrong choices and was so naive, I just wanted to punch her in the face so many times. Her inner monologues consisted of nothing but contradicted whining that her ending was probably the best part of the book.
The rest of the characters were no better. None of them were consistent of their character and every character felt like they were in some soap opera and were extremely unbelievable. Her father ended up being a hypocritical soft family man, when earlier in the series he was this strict, alcoholic. It made no sense. None of the characters were likeable and frankly, it was a godsend when they killed a few of them off.

Plot
Wooo boy, where do I start. The premise of the plot started out interesting and the "extreme horror" if you can call it that was enough to take an interest but after the 3rd book, I got bored. The twists and turns were predictable and once they got to the cult aspect of the story, I was pretty much done. It was a train wreck, plot holes and inconsistencies as far as the eye can see. The gore and horror felt thrown in just to be a shock factor and was weirdly described that it kind of just felt comedic at some stages. By the end of the series, it even started to feel repetitive believe it or not. The ending was as expected and frankly, I felt like it was a good closure to it all.

Overall thoughts
A horrible series and not because of the horror content. The writing was just terrible. It felt like an angsty teen on Wattpad was trying to write the most disturbing thing they could think of, got a few followers and just rolled with it until they ended up with the mess that this series was. There were a lot of spelling and grammatic errors, which was disappointing considering the author stated that they had beta readers but clearly not a decent editor. The little notes from the author at the end of each book, felt like an excuse to try and explain their process on their process and it just added to the Wattpad feel of it. If I could give this book negative ratings I would and I will not be reading anything else by this author.

Major spoilers!!

---

If I had read each story on its own instead of all ten together as one full book, I honestly would’ve rated them very differently. Some of the stories were strong and really pulled me in. Others made me cringe so bad.

The book started off so well. I was invested. I genuinely cared about Deicide. But after the cult storyline, the story just lost itself.

Deicide became UNBEARABLE.

Every other sentence was, “I’m an adult now,” “I can make my own decisions,” “I’m a big girl,” and then she would immediately make the worst possible brain-dead decision. And she blamed EVERYONE but herself. She was allergic to accountability.

Her blind loyalty to her Gramps/mother (her “real” parents) was also so weird to me. Like girl… your pops/half-brother grew up a serial killer. What makes you think you would’ve turned out any different if Gramps had raised you? She really used that as her go-to excuse for why her life was so messed up. It wouldn't have been any different if Gramps lived.

I didn’t even like Pops, but she was so annoying that I found myself rooting for him. (Yes. It was that bad.) And then the ninth book being in his POV did not help. Honestly, his story and Alec’s could’ve had their own series. Their father was seriously messed up, and I wish Pops would’ve opened up more about that to Deicide, especially since she was lowkey worshipping the idea of him being her “real” father in her head. She had no idea that man was sick. And honestly? Even if she had known… I don’t think it would’ve changed anything. She felt like a lost cause after the Lip storyline.

And Deicide referring to Bliss as “a stranger’s baby” was crazy. Especially considering she was fully ready to mother two baby boys she knew weren’t biologically hers. one of whom had Down syndrome, which would’ve been a lot for an 18/19-year-old single mother stripper to take on. But she couldn’t accept Bliss? She spoke about her so nonchalantly/unloving. I understand she was heavily addicted to alcohol in the last few books, but still… she was lacking that love from that early books. she didn’t feel like Deicide anymore.

I’m not going to lie — her death was predictable. And Pops’ too. He was never going to live without her. He couldn't always express it. But he really did love her. His character did a complete 360. Two different people from the first book/last.

And then Jules returning in the last book?

…...🙄

Killing everyone off in the final pages?

…...😐

Yeah... It just felt all over the place. I will say, I really did want to dnf this but everytime I closed it, I found myself wanting to know what happened next. Therefore, 3.5/5 ⭐.
