This was such an amazing story. I loved that the captor was a female. Definitely a nice twist on the typical male captor. Eva being obsessed with her fave pop star goes overboard when she can’t get her note to him. So instead she makes a plan to kidnap him in hopes of conditioning him into a Stockholm situation. She’s so far gone mentally, that she thinks this will work. Kidnapping was a success. But as for trying to get him to fall in love with her, or want going as planned. This was such an intense and thrilling story. I was definitely invested in this and wanted to keep reading. This had some great twists and turns in this. And that ending. I never saw it coming. This was an absolutely amazing read.
This was a quick read which is something I think everyone likes now and then.
Eva obsession is something I feel many people can relate to at one point in their life which pulled me into the story. It had ups and downs and I absolutely inhaled it because I needed to know what happened next.
Great for: A quick read, especially if you are trying to meet your yearly reading goal. Twists and turns An interesting read

I though when I first started this book would be about a fan meeting her famous crush eventually. When I got more into the book , I realized it was a fan MEETTING her crush. I loved the details in the book and I love how much I got sucked into it. The heroine is clever on how to get her goal: her crush. Yes, at some points I did feel bad for the famous singer, though is it bad i rooted for the heroine??
Eva seems to be obsessed with a rapper to a point that she is seeing him everywhere. One day, she decides to kidnap him and give him the opportunity to know her and fall in love with her.
She has a deranged personality, lives in her own world and has a lot of imagination.
I wanted very much to read this book because the story was very appealing and unlike other books I am used to read. I enjoyed the story but at times it felt like it was disorganized, some names change, timelines and events seem to be missing and it's at times confusing (Nazar.. her boufriend?). I would've liked it if some parts were more developed and better explained. Overall, it was a good story, i am grateful for the opportunity even if it left me confused.
5 Second Summary What happens when a teen college student kidnaps her popstar idol? Banter, Chaos, and dare I say it… romance?
Review: When the Stalker Wears the Skirt 🖤🔪
If you’re tired of the same old "brooding mafia-billionaire kidnaps the innocent heroine" routine, buckle up. This psychological thriller flips the entire dark romance trope right on its head.
What happens when the girl is the stalker, and she kidnaps the love of her life? Carnage.
Meet Fangirl Eva and her idol TJ.
Their dynamic is a masterclass in forced proximity. The pacing of this book is great! So many sharp twists and turns. But what really anchors this story is the banter. It is quick, sharp, and laced with a surprising amount of wit given the, uh... highly illegal circumstances.
As a dark romance reader, I knew what I was signing up for. Yes, their connection is deeply twisted and, let’s be real, pretty violent. But watching Eva and TJ get to know each other amid all the grit was mesmerising. With every passing scene, you watch their forced connection deepen into something frighteningly real. I was watching this trainwreck of a situation thinking, “Gosh, I really just want them to fall in love.”
It’s dark, it’s gritty, and it’s jam-packed with an insane amount of romantic obsession. If you want a thriller that handles a reverse-role dark romance with razor-sharp dialogue and a plot that moves, pick this up! Just don't take any relationship advice from Eva.
Idol was a really twisty psychological thriller about a girl who becomes obsessed with a rapper. She attempts to give him a letter she wrote letting him know how she feels, but she is unable to get it to him causing a spiral. She plots a way to capture him believing that he would develop Stockholm syndrome for her and want to be with her, but as she executes her plan, she realizes how wrong she was and that even though he was the captive, she had also become one to him. The story then becomes very twisty. I loved the whole concept of the candle at the end. But with all that being said, I think this story needs another round of editing. It reads as if it is being translated from another language. Some of the pieces don't really fit or make sense. The dialogue is a bit weird, as normal people don't speak like that. I think the premise is great... it's a unique take on captor/captive roles being reversed. But I do really feel that editing needs another go with this before it gets published. It's a great concept though and there is a lot of potential for a great story here.
Wow!! Just wow! This was not at all what I was expecting. I expected the darker elements, but did not expect that ending at all! And the way that Eva is portrayed is amazing. I don't want to say much that could potentially spoil anything in the book, but I genuinely did not know how in depth we were going to get into the whole kidnapping and Stockholm syndrome portions of Eva. And the details and what I would consider delusions were just fantastic. At one point I was rooting for her to get what she deserved. There were points that I can't say I hated her, but I definitely felt pity for her. There were also points I was rooting for a real relationship and true connection to be had. I won't say if I'm happy or not with how it all turns out, but the ending is something else. Happy reading!
When I first started Idol, I wasn’t sure it was going to be a book for me.
As the story progressed, I found myself wanting to know what would happen next, and by the end I was genuinely glad I stuck with it. There was a twist near the ending that completely caught me off guard. It wasn’t one of those twists that made me rethink everything that came before, but it was still a fun surprise that I didn’t see coming.
Overall, while I never formed a strong emotional connection with the characters, I still found Idol to be an entertaining read with an engaging storyline that grew on me the further I read. If you’re someone who enjoys an intriguing plot this is worth picking up.
This book is a psychological thriller with chaos and banter
Eva the MFC has a big imagination and delusional personality. She seems obsessed with keeping a candle burning. T-Jay the rapper is her Idol that she kidnaps. Eva sure did think of everything to cover her tracks and all the ways to kidnap him successfully. Teon (T-Jay) had to endure some mind games from Eva to survive. She was hoping he would get Stockholm Syndrome and fall in love with her.
Overall, the story was good. Glad that the ending explained what the meaning of the candle was for.
Thank you for letting me read your book and give my honest review. Kateryna K. (Snixa)
This book really appealed to me for two reasons. The captor being female, and that we all can relate to dreaming about a childhood celebrity crushes!! What am I saying....I'm in my 40s and still do. I found the writing style to be very YA and Eva mostly annoying and childish. There were parts where the story seemed disorganised and confusing sometimes. It was however, a quick easy read and even though I didn't feel any sort of emotional attachment to the characters, I did want to find out what happens. The twist at the end was something I didn't see coming. Which doesn't often happen
A story about how some people can go completely overboard when it comes to their obsession with their idol. Doing crazy shit they shouldn't be doing and thinking they are doing it with the best intentions. Not thinking of the consequences. Love makes some people do crazy things. Well it's a rollercoaster of emotions to say the least.
This book was a good read and drew you in. I love the banter and chaos. Eva takes liking her favorite pop star idol to a whole new level. She kidnapped him, hoping he would love her back in return. I love the twist and turns. It's definitely an emotional rollercoaster. I wasn't expecting the ending and was a total surprise.
Well this was a first storyline for me - a female stalker. Eva is obsessed with Teon who is a singer and she will do anything to prove to him they deserve to be together. It was a quick but punchy read which I enjoyed. It is quite interesting to read a stalker view point from a female and what she will do to get her man! A must read for people who like stalker stories
This is the first time I've read this author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Well written and great characters. Would recommend!
When I started reading it, I was confused. It took me some time to get into the story and I when i was, I wanted to know how it ended. And the ending was a total suprise!!!
This is a really interesting book, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the new take on a traditional captor/captive. Was a great ‘palate cleanser’ book between other reads Well done
