Demon Daddy's Little Girl

Rate this book
A hunted mother. A feared demon. A sanctuary that could cost them everything.

I’ve spent years running, protecting my daughter from those who would use her.
Then Captain Dezoth of the Demon Guard arrests us.
Instead of a prison cell, he offers us shelter. Safety. A home.
I should fear him—his power, his reputation. But he’s gentle with my daughter.

And the way he looks at me? It’s not hunger. It’s possession.
I can’t trust him. But I might not survive without him.

***

I was built for war, not for love.

Then a desperate mother and her half-demon child crash into my world.
Taking them in means defying everything I stand for.
But the moment they step into my home, I know one thing...

I will kill for them. Burn for them.
Even if it means becoming the monster they fear.

Read on a dark fantasy romance featuring a single mother and a protective demon that proves that family isn't about blood—it's about who you'd burn the world to protect. Watch as a gruff Captain of the Guard melts for a little girl's smile and her mother's strength, even as shadows threaten to tear them apart.

It was a decent story. I really enjoyed that it focused on healing, trusting and little by little falling in love with each other. I will say she kept saying I can’t trust again. I can’t trust a demon again blah blah blah but she trusted her slave owner to impregnate her and they where supposedly in love. This new demon who has been nothing but kind to her and patient. I guess I don’t understand the logic.

DNFd @ 20%

First two chapters were good but it just goes downhill from there.
Meant to be a Dual POV book yet the POVs are all over the place; One chapter is labeled as Dazoths POV but is entirely written in Adas.

Narrative is inconsistent and disjointed. It’s quite difficult to follow along.
There’s one point where Ada narrates that Dazoth was the one hunting them? But at no point was this the case.

This was released in Feb 2025 and is the first in a 6 book series, each book released one month after the other, and it’s very evident how much of a rush job this was.
Honestly have too many on my TBR to force myself to read something the Author clearly doesn’t care about.

Dezoth Blackwood et Ada (Adélaïde Pierce)
Capitaine Dezoth, de la Garde Démoniaque
Monde d'Aerasak

« On devrait y aller. »

« On monte, ma petite.

cute story but lacking

Missing a lot of scenes. Skips around a lot. Over use of descriptors such as “honey-blonde” and lacks descriptors of Dezoth and what he looks like.

Ada is with her daughter, Rose, going through a market place. Ada has a meeting with someone who could help them escape the city.As she's waiting a commotion happens that puts the meeting off. She goes to grab her daughter's hand to find she's gone. She goes to find her.
Dezoth, Captain Dezoth of the City Guard, is in the market place when someone impacts his leg. He looks down and sees a young child with violet eyes, the eyes of a demon. From Rose he learns a lot of what their life has been one of dire conditions. He offers her protection, wanting nothing in return. It is his job to protect all the people. Especially a half demon child who it seems someone wants to use.
Then to make her feel better he offers her a job as his helper in his abode. She accepts. With the two there it brings back memories..of a daughter he never got to know. Then he gets a report from one of men about a third half demon child being taken.
The more the two are around him the more memories come. The longer they are with Dezoth the safer she feels and also feels that this is good for them. She sees something in him that touches her. At times he looks lost and sad.
Will he be able to keep the two safe? What happens if he can't? Will he find that he can give what both of them need?
A fascinating story about a demon who shows more humanity than some humans.

"If there's one thing you should know about me, Ada, it's that I will protect you. I promise you that."
And now, more than ever, I want to prove that to her.

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Ada and Dezoth. Little four-year old Rose was so sweet and innocent, yet observant. Dezoth is my favorite type of male lead- honorable, protective, caring. He wields power but isn't arrogant, conceited, or haughty. He was very kind to Rose when she ran into him and spoke to him so trustingly. He recognized that Ada and her child were on the run, and with rose being a half demon, needed protection. I was hooked from the very first chapter. I liked the way the relationship between Dezoth and Ada built, and I loved how he was with Rose.

I loved the scene where she presented him with a drawing she drew of him fighting bad guys.

"Ah yes, I see the resemblance." He studies it with exaggerated seriousness. "Though my horns are a bit larger than that."
Rose giggles. "They're the biggest horns ever! That's why you're the bestest guard."

Oh my heart! This is definitely one my my favorites from Celeste King!

(And what a sexy cover! I love it- though disappointed that the girl looks nothing like Rose, who is four years old and has honey blonde curls. This girl looks like she's twelve with straight black hair...)

Review – Demon Daddy’s Little Girl by Celeste King

From the first page, this story hooked me—not with grand battles or flashy magic, but with the raw, unfiltered connection between Ada and Dezoth. The emotional resonance was impossible to ignore. Ada’s fear, her guarded heart, her instinct to protect Rose at all costs… I felt every heartbeat, every trembling moment when her walls threatened to crumble.

Rose was the glue holding them together—the quiet bridge between two wounded souls. Every scene with her was a reminder of innocence worth protecting, and when she went missing, the panic was so palpable I could almost feel Ada’s breath catch in my own chest.

Watching Ada’s walls be tested, cracked, and finally broken down was beautiful. Dezoth—an unexpected savior wrapped in shadow and authority—didn’t just step into her life, he reshaped it. And yes, that irresistible demon captain pulled me in too. His strength wasn’t just in battle, but in the way he offered safety, understanding, and an unwavering presence.

The whole story was an amazing journey—a blend of vulnerability, fierce devotion, and the kind of love that grows from survival into something unshakable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — For the heartstrings, the fear, and the demon who stole my breath.

Listen, I should’ve known better from the title, but I kinda like the premise. Also, the Writing is technically not that bad, but this book was completely unedited. There were so many mistakes and missing information that could not be overlooked. There were grammar mistakes, spelling errors, incorrect chapter headings… There’s absolutely no world building, I have no idea why the world is the way it is in the beginning, they called the little girl’s hair, honey blonde, then they mention that it’s dark, and then they call it honey blonde again 45 more times? They also keep talking about him being this fearsome captain and how his hands commit violence but they can be so gentle with the girl, and for the first 25 chapters, we don’t see him actually do any fighting at all? Everything is very repetitive as well. This feels like the first draft of the book got published, even if the writing style itself is not that bad.

New contender for book boyfriend.

So many tears!
The author's writing really invokes your emotions.
My heart broke for both main characters repeatedly.

I am happy it was short enough that it wasn't too much. I read for enjoyment, and frankly hate to read emotional books that go too long; by the end I'm so exhausted by all the tears and sorrow, feeling all wrung out. This was just enough.

Both MC were well written. The FMC was so strong, yet not bitter or too biting , nor was she too head strong where she made "too stupid to live" decisions.
In counterpoint, the MMC whilst the strong silent type, was never an arse.
He was so perfect, even while being broken.
I really just love his character.
And Rose was a darling.

I enjoyed this book. Will definitely reread...even w/ all the shed tears.

This is a sweet story of two people overcoming their mistrust and the pain in their past to find family and happiness.

In this segregated society, powerful demons rule, where humans are considered as only good as 'servants and whores'. This attitude is changing, as evidenced by the number of half demon/half human children. There is now a backlash to the situation, with the mixed blood children being snatched up by person or persons unknown.

Ada is fleeing her past life with her daughter when she is helped by Demon Captain Dezoth Blackwood. She has reasons to fear demons and is not ready to trust him. He has his own reasons why he feels the need to protect the woman and her half demon child. Expect danger, mystery, and a HEA.

didn’t live up to its potential

The author has some skill, and the writing was good. But it was a truly boring book. Nothing was developed well, and the parts that would have added more excitement were barely touched on.

There are also some basic editing issues that need to be addressed, like the POV titles of chapters being inconsistent, as well as some things like calling a person aunt/sister/grandson/son which don’t match up completely through the whole book so it takes a little guesswork to figure out what’s going on.

I’m also SUPER annoyed by the cover- the little girl has HONEY BLOND HAIR according to the book, why is her hair dark on the cover? Same for Dezoth - he’s said to have dark hair, WHY IS IT WHITE ON THE COVER???

Overall, not bad, but I’d skip this one and spend your time reading something else.

⭐️⭐️

Plot: 2/5
Characters: 2/5
Spice: 🌶️

The premise had potential - a healing story between the mother of a half-demon child and a demon guard grieving the loss of his own. Unfortunately, it just didn’t land for me.

The plot was predictable and repetitive in parts, and the climax wrapped up far too quickly, with only a page or two of resolution after a long build-up. It left things feeling rushed and unsatisfying.

I also struggled to connect with our FMC, Ada. She felt so underdeveloped that it wouldn’t have made much difference if another character had taken her place - there just wasn’t enough depth or personality to really invest in her journey.

A cute idea, but one that ultimately lacked impact.

Another enjoyable read from this author, featuring another Demon. :D Ada and her daughter find themselves arrested and in the care of Dezoth, a Demon guard. Expecting a cell, they end up in his personal care. He's never thought to be in such a position given the life he has led, but this turns it upside down, and as we read, in a good way.

Another Protheka story I'd enjoyed reading. It's a well written story that drew me in. This touching romantic story is about Captain Dezoth of the Demon Guard who arrests Ada with her daughter Rose a half demon child after Rose approaches him. This was an engaging endearing story with very likable characters. I'd volunteer to read and review this enjoyable copy I'd received and volunteer to review.

love love this read

Love everything about this read. Dez and Ada characters suited in a way of their personal losses, struggling to trust and so protective to the ones who’s vulnerable. I found the storyline engaging and the relationship between Dez and Ada fragile which, at times, holding my breath for the outcomes. Rose so adorable, and so wise as a child can be. Should be read👍

3.75 ⭐️. Im a sucka for a step daddy trope but a demon step daddy hits just a lil different. Fmc Ada and her half demon daughter rose are on the run from someone hunting mix breed children. Ada trust no one when Rose accidentally bumps into Dez. Dezoth is the captain of the guard suffering through his own tragic loss. Rose instantly falls in love with him so of course Ada was bound to follow. I enjoyed reading.

I do really enjoy Celeste King's books. They are super fast & entertaining reads. This was a sweet story about trust, healing and finding love again. I loved the MMC in this book..total swoonworthy Demon. Of course the little girl was adorable so I fell in love with her as well.
The only real criticism I have about this book was the repetitiveness of certain phrases.. "Her honey-blonde curls" & "My voice came out rougher than intended"
Will be continuing the series!

Ton of Editing Errors

This was a really great story. I liked the plot and the mystery of the missing kids. The reason I gave this three stars rather than four is there were a ton of editing erros. Misspelled or completely missing words. A few names that got swapped around. Chapters that accidentally swapped POV for a paragraph or two. A lot of things that should have been caught by an editor but werent.

interesting plot

Overall the plot was very interesting and sucks you in from the beginning. Though it could have used more action/conflict. There were quite a few editing issues and POV issues that made things confusing as well. Mainly towards the middle to end of the book. Also there were times I felt like a detail was missing, almost like I came in half way through a conversation. I would still recommend the book but just keep in mind the editing needs some work.

DNF at 60%. This book is just about parenting a toddler, which feels gross to read in conjunction with smut. Also, there were so many editing issues that it kept drawing me out of the story.

Update: I went back and skimmed the rest bc I was mildly interested and turns out it was ridiculously predictable too.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping. Hardly any Character development and practically no world building. I was really confused on species relationships for most of the book. I still don't know how other humans live. Everything outside of the house where the book is set is very abstract. It was an meh/OK read, but I won't be continuing the series.

Don’t let the title of the book fool you! This was such a sweet story of two people finding love and relearning to trust someone other than themselves because of what they each lost. As a short read of 200 pages, King does an amazing job of weaving such a heartwarming story that doesn’t feel rushed.

✨No cheating ✨No third act breakup ✨No cliffhanger

Very well written and engaging story!

I didn't want to put this one down. The storyline was highly engaging and the world building was very good. The character development was very enriched and you quickly become enamored with each one. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

I loved seeing the softer side of the demon when her interacted with the little girl. It was so sweet! The storyline moved fairly consistently, and the characters were easy to like or not, whatever the case may be.

Super cute

I loved the story line and plot it was cute but also full of action however the writing style and certain random switches between characters bugged me a little. It could of just been how I understood it but that's why I gave a 3 instead of 4 star

Absolutely so so....

You'll need tissues for the ending. FYI. I can't begin to tell you how this beautiful story goes right to the heart. Celeste exceeds all expectations with this series. Her writing usually is very good but this book is so much more. Don't pass this book up!

so sweet

I love babies and swoon worthy monsters and this did not disappoint! Dezoth is the perfect demon daddy and I loved the way he and Ada worked through their grief and came together! Can’t wait for more!

Demon Daddy's Little Girl #1

Oh I loved this book. The author wrote with such heart and love. I'm looking forward to reading next in the series. This is not my usual genre to read, but for this series I will change until I've read the series.
