"Dark Affections" by Naomi Night delivers a dark and possessive romance with a strong alpha hero and a socialite heroine. The book explores themes of obsession, control, and the blurring lines between predator and protector.

Xander, the hero, is portrayed as a dangerous and possessive tracker who becomes fixated on Sophie. His obsessive behavior, while potentially disturbing for some readers, is a central element of the dark romance genre. The author effectively portrays his intensity and determination to claim Sophie as his own.

Sophie, the heroine, is a social media influencer who initially resists Xander's advances. Her journey from cautious flirtation to accepting her attraction to Xander is portrayed with a mix of vulnerability and strength. The influencer aspect of her character is a unique element, but some reviewers found it to be a distraction.

The book excels in its portrayal of Xander's possessiveness and the tension between him and Sophie. The steamy scenes are well-written and contribute to the overall intensity of their relationship. The author successfully creates a sense of danger and anticipation throughout the story.

At times I found the pacing to be slow, with repetitive scenes and a lack of significant plot development in the first half of the book. The focus on parties and clubs, while contributing to the characters' lifestyle, became monotonous for me. The repetitive nature of some scenes, such as Xander's declarations of Sophie being his and her subsequent rejections, was also a point of criticism. The inconsistencies in the timeline detracted from the reading experience as well.

The dark and dangerous aspects of Xander's profession are effectively integrated into the story, adding a layer of suspense and intrigue. The contrast between his public persona as a playboy and his true nature as a tracker is well-executed.

Overall, "Dark Affections" is a dark and possessive romance that delivers on its promise of intense chemistry and alpha hero obsession.

1⭐️: The book didn’t hold my interest and/or had significant issues that overshadowed any redeeming qualities for me, but generally not my cup of tea. Most likely did not finish the book.
2⭐️: The book didn’t quite resonate with me, and while my experience wasn’t remarkable, I did finish it. It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations.
3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others.
4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read book again. Definitely recommendable.
5⭐️: Incredible writing that made me deeply connect with the characters. I was completely absorbed in the world and didn’t want it to end. This book stayed with me even when I wasn’t reading it. I'd gladly reread it and highly recommend it to everyone!.

She is a model and influencer. Carefully crafting her social medias to build her an income that gives her privileges beyond her working class family. She has been careful not to get involved, just have fun and move on. But New Year’s Eve everything changes. She ends up going home with her friend who she sees in the new light evening, he isn’t just the party guy that she’s used to seeing there’s something else there. She has a great night with him but leaves before he wakes because she doesn’t do repeats. Is it gonna work for him however, she is already his. He is also not exactly what she thought he was. The life of the party is just a mask, to distract from who he really is and he is a dangerous man. This story had a lot of loops and twists, and turns. There was an arc of drama and danger that also ran through the story. He is obsessed with her from the beginning and plays the long game to win her over until she finally gives in. I liked his strong alpha character and the lengths he would go to protect her. He is also incredibly hot and steamy when he brings the panty melting spice. I can clearly picture his forearms, scar and all. However I am not really a fan of the influencer drama arc and it seemed really shallow and pretentious. I could not get into it or feel connected to the story. The ending was a little better with less focus on the influencer trope and more on the couple dynamic.

Xander & Sophie steal the show!

I loved this book. It shows how true love makes even the most reluctant, scarred (and sometimes scared) people change their ways. I loved them both, but Xander truly stole my heart in this one.

Xander and Sophie are two people who don’t do relationships. Yet, from their first meeting, they feel there is something special. They cover it with a superficial friendship at first. But a passionate night on New Year’s Eve, changes everything. Xander is the first to admit it and the one that starts a relentless pursue. He is determined, relentless, but also tries to make Sophie see the truth for herself. He is fierce, protective. His is not what or who she thinks he is. He is so much more. His true line of work is dark and dangerous. He is not the party-goer, charming playboy she has built in her mind. He is so much more. Sophie is an influencer. Image is everything and she has built her life around it. But danger lurks in the corner. Her carefully constructed media world comes crushing down both by her feelings for Xander but also by the predators hunting for her. This book had everything – engaging plot, loveable characters, danger and agony, hotness (phewww), sweet moments and so much more! I loved every page. 4 stars.

A wonderful story about obsessions, we follow Xander who is a tracker and his job is to find people and he always succeeds and this time it is the Socialite Sophie and she has no idea that he is following and watching and that every man who comes too close to her will suffer because she is his even though she doesn't know that yet and he always gets what he wants and this time his target is Sophie. I enjoyed their story and keeps your attention and enough hot and steamy scenes.

Wonderful Read

Dark Affections, is truly a modern day media story. But also true, there’s always someone watching you, but not the kind that can be dangerous.

Th details and relationships of the characters is truly fascinating. The chemistry alone is dangerously good as well.

I would definitely tune in to find out about Jess and Benny.

this sizzing story had me from the first page when Xander crosses path with Sofie and has claimed her as his although she doesn't know it at first. It is an enticing story about an obsessive man who is determined to claim his woman no matter the cost. It is a steamy, well written and has intriguing characters that I enjoyed connecting to.
