Deep in the Amazon lies a priceless treasure. Access to it is obscured by time and intent. Until the life of a young boy hangs in the balance, unable to be cured by modern medicine, his Father receives a mysterious package with two vials of clear fluid.
When Dr. Jennifer Murray comes to check in on him, she discovers he is completely free of any signs of Cancer. Shocked and amazed, Jennifer orders a battery of tests only to confirm her patient has been cured.
Meanwhile, Dr. Elliott Brand receives a call while lecturing his students. Ashra and Shiri have been intentionally poisoned while eating ice cream. The poison is a neurotoxin with no cure, leaving Elliott to watch them slowly die.
The Panacea Conspiracy is a fast-paced, page-turner thriller/speculative fiction that goes deep into the morality of modern pharmaceuticals. While taking the reader on a wild ride into the jungle of the Amazon, the book explores the theme of entitlement.
Personally, I felt that the ending was missing something. I wasn't happy with the resolution. Perhaps you will feel differently, but you must read the book to find out. Why don't you give it a try?
This was quite the interesting read. It’s a nice turn on the fountain of youth. It does give you a lot to think about what might happen if it were real.
A great read I truly hope that if you have not read any of T. S. Falk's work that you remedy this problem. Great stories told by a great story teller I have enjoyed everything of his I have read.
The Panacea Conspiracy is an excellent adventure thriller with a very fast paced, tense and fun plot revolving around a substance capable of healing any illness and the moral and ethical issues that it would raise. The morals are in shades of grey with allusions to bioutilitarianism. It features the return of Jordan Carver and several characters people who have read Falk's other books will be familiar with. The characters are well rounded, the descriptions vivid, the dialog excellent. Just make sure you have the time to finish it, you won't want to put it down!
This one was a clear miss for me: it was super-predictable and too linear. There's hardly any nuance in the characters, save for the doctor, the others are either saints or monsters. It feels like a rushed job.
Maybe I'm just over Ashra's and the group of people orbiting her, it feels like the well has been pumped dry.
By contrast, I read from same author the recent Polaris book, an adventure with new characters and it was excellent, the only downside being that the final find loops back to the same old ancients. It would have been fun to have something a bit more surprising and creative. But anyway, story-wise it was heaps better.
One always dreams of the possibility of having a panacea for anything:health, peace in the world, everything that is wrong to get good, as if touched by a fairy stick. This novel kept me awake all along, and I dreamt of the health panacea and its pros and cons about the consequences of having it dispersed world wide. Three hurras for T.S. Falk!!
So many stories and interrelated characters in Falk’s books. Always thrilling and exciting, this one is no different. It was a bit short, but you already know the characters.
Kept my interest - loved the historical references. Characters were well developed f
Loved the historical references. Characters were well developed considering the relatively short read. Interested in reading earlier books to learn the back stories of the characters.
What an awesome story about the old mysterious tale of the fountain of youth. What would the world do with that type of miracle? I would hope and pray that we could rise above the greed that normally rests in most of humanities souls.
Scary beginning Nonstop action after that. A race against time that you never know if it will actually help. The amazon is actually a very scary unknown place.
Great read. Kept you on the edge of your seat. Glad that Asha and banal are fine to remain together with the Professor. Can’t wait for more adventures.
