After a career on Wall Street, Julius Hunter is content to live his life as a modern Robin Hood. Getting corrupt corporations to invest with him while he siphons their money into charitable organizations makes his blood pump, so when he’s sent in to find out what the new CEO of a global company knows about money being used to fund the search for a priceless piece of artwork connected to his family, he’s all in.
Ethan Lin never wanted to be CEO of the company his great-great-grandfather founded. He also never wanted to be a parent, but when his sister died in a car accident, he inherited her title and her two adorable children. Balancing life as the head of a corporation and as a new dad is a challenge, and with diminishing returns at home and in the boardroom something has to give.
When Julius shows up, offering help in both areas of Ethan’s life, they learn they have more in common than they think. Including a shared enemy. Whoever is targeting the Hunter family also has their sights set on Ethan, and Julius will stop at nothing to make sure the man he’s falling for and his children stay safe as the final pieces fall into place.
Monochrome is the final book in the Organization for the Return of Criminals and Assets (ORCA) series, featuring an orca shifter financier who had no idea he liked kids, a panda shifter hellbent on making sure his family’s legacy doesn’t end with him, and a final showdown that changes everything.
Vinni George has been a lover of romance novels (of all shapes, sizes, and colors) since she first got her hands on one of her grandmother’s Harlequins and has never looked back. She lives in Ohio with her two favorite guys (her husband and son) and, hopefully—one day—a dog. When she’s not writing, Vinni can be found working for her family’s business, which provides plenty of plot bunnies. In her spare time, Vinni is a soccer mom who dabbles in performance art, quilting, and various culinary pursuits and enjoys traveling.
Vinni’s debut novel, Hold the Door, was a finalist and runner-up in Contemporary Gay Romance in the 2020-2021 Rainbow Awards.
Great 4th book in this quartet, rounding out the series quite nicely and tying up all the loose ends. Finally, we find out who the villain has been all along, and it was a doozy.
And the baby brother finally gets a mate of his own! I've loved this whole series and watching the ORCA family expand as each of them found the fated mate meant for them. I found the idea of the saddle patch changing once a mate has been found to be interesting and I liked that it gave them physical proof of the bond. With Julius I don't think he even needed to look in the mirror for a confirmation. As soon as he met Ethan, he just knew he belonged to him.
A lot goes on in this book as it also has to wrap up the series long storyline. I felt so bad for Ethan and Julius. Not only do they have to worry about themselves and each other being targeted, but Ethan is also raising his twin niece and nephew who are only 4 years old and quite the handful. I don't know about you, but in my experience the pre-school stage is a wild ride, and these guys have TWO at once!
I adored how much the twins took to Julius. It was like they knew he was meant to be a part of their family. In turn, Julius was almost immediately certain that the two little ones were just as meant for him as his mate. He just had to get over this hurdle of figuring who was after the painting, why they wanted Ethan dead, and just how far this whole thing went. What could go wrong?
OMG...sad to see this series end but it had a great mystery rolled up in fated mates, along with a tight family unit with all the romantic feels you come to love with Vinni's books. With Book 4, the youngest Julius was sent to infiltrate a corporation suspected of causing harm to his family. Now...this one wasn't as dangerous of assignment at the others and when Jules first met the newly CEO Ethan...a panda HA! I love these matches...anywho...there was an instant connection between the two men...with a little subterfuge there was the angst but not a lot because once all truths were told, there was nothing but love, trust and the tight family bond. I just loved how everybody joined together to solve the issue and it was wonderful. A lovely ending to a great series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
"Monochrome" is the fourth book in the "ORCA" series by Vinni George. Julius and Ethan's story was such a joy to read. I absolutely love that Vinni writes about all the different kinds of shifters in this series. This book I read a new to me shifter of a panda. I loved how Julius was supportive of Ethan having custody of his niece and nephew. I thought the scene at the aquarium was a cute scene. I enjoyed how there was some action that had me reading on to see who was behind some of the events that happened in this book. I was sad to see that this was the last book in the series, but I will now move on to other books by Vinni.
Oh. My. God. Did not see that one coming. well, not totally. I figured it out about halfway-ish. At least the corporate intregue and embezzling. The art theft and vendetta against the Hunter family... That part was a complete surprise. So was the paring between Julius and Ethan. but it works. and the twins? mmm, perfection. they were just the thing this story was missing. i don't wanna go into too much detail here, and risk spoilers, but i will say this was the perfect ending to the saga and i kinda want more.
I went down the rabbit hole with this series. I needed to find out who was behind everything. This book answers all the questions that I had from the previous books. The Hunter family is close to finding out who is targeting the family and their mates. This leads Julius to Ethan. Ethan is trying to process the grief of losing his sister, becoming a parent to his niece and nephew, and becoming CEO of the family business. One of the cutest scenes in the book is when Ethan shifts into a panda to comfort his niece and nephew.
Monochrome by Vinni George is the 4th book in her ORCA series. You need to read the others first because of reoccurring characters and the major plot line that goes through all of them and reaches its conclusion in this one. Julius Hunter is an orca shifter and along with his brothers work for ORCA – The Organization for the Return of Criminals and Assets. His specialty is having a knack for increasing a company’s returns on its corporate investments. The whole family has been trying to find a painting called The Evolution of Man as it has been stolen several times and is being tied back to their grandmother Juno who is a knowledgeable art historian as well as an art thief. Their searches so far have led them in circles through shell companies and aliases but they have found something that might help them when one of the shell companies, AB Holdings, leads them to Grove Corp Industries in their hometown of Seattle. There seems to be someone skimming money and sending it to these shell companies so Julius is sent to meet with the CEO, panda shifter Ethan Lin, to see what he can find out. What he sees is a man bogged down with what has happened recently in his life. He was the CFO of the US branch of the company which was led by his sister Tessa who, along with her husband was killed in a car accident so now he has taken over as CEO as well as taking in their rambunctious 4 year old twins, Lily and Jude. The twins have not done well and have gone through 3 nannies in a year and are placed in the company’s daycare but that also does not last for long. Not only that but he realizes something isn’t right with the company but can’t put his finger on what it is and the Board of Directors is also on his case because the company has been losing money. When Julius appears and says he is willing to do an audit, which is really to get access to their accounts so his computer genius brother-in-law Felix can look around to see what he can find, Ethan is wary at first but then relents and allows him to help. He is also very attracted to Julius and upon their first meeting Julius knows he is his mate, since his saddle patch has changed and this is the indication that that has happened. The story continues with many twists and turns as they come to know each other and when Julius tells him why he is really there, they join forces to look together to see who is skimming the money and placing it in the shell accounts. It really gets intriguing and scary when it all points to Ethan and Tessa as the ones who are doing it, even though there is proof they aren’t and couldn’t. Julius is doing everything he can to protect Ethan and the twins because he is not only his mate but he is also falling in love with him and he and his brothers are digging as deep as they can. When a final threat comes in, they all band together to find out who is doing this and what happened to the painting and there is a spectacular ending when they do. Ethan has also fallen in love with Julius and throughout the story they have many very hot love scenes and he has grown into his position as CEO so he can lead the company to new heights. Plus Julius, Ethan, and the twins are going to build their lives together and they couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend this book. I was really looking forward to reading it to see what happened because of the story line that goes through the series and I wasn’t disappointed. Julius is a very strong character but has a weakness for Ethan and the twins and falls for them almost instantly. Ethan was worn down because of the death of his sister and he really didn’t want to be CEO but knew he had to for his family. He also loved the twins but they were such a handful he didn’t know what to do with them. Julius coming to him really saved the day, both with the company and with their family and it didn’t take him log to fall in love with him. Julius’s brothers and mates played a huge role in the story as they tracked down who was behind everything that was happening and in finding the missing painting and they also added some comic relief. There were so many twists and turns that you want to keep reading just to see what will happen next and you aren’t sure just who the villain is until he is revealed. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories with a mystery to be solved involving shifters who have to delve into the facts to find the answers, children who have lost their parents and are looking to be loved, and two men who find they are mates and are willing to do anything to protect each other as they find love.
The main reason I like this series, I think, is that it takes place in Seattle, written by someone who knows Seattle, most likely a resident. The author does Seattle justice.
This had a typical plot for this series and it was fine. Ethan was CEO of a large company and he was being targeting from multiple directions. One was a member of the board of directors who kept calling ridiculous meetings to bring up some point or other. This is one area where I don’t think the author did well. The board would get pissed off if they were constantly being called in at the last minute for nothing or for power plays. They would be powerful people most likely very busy. They would vote to oust anyone who continued to pull that crap.
The computer tech stuff was done very well and was accurate up to the level I know from working in high tech. There were a couple of things they asked Ethan for, though, that they could have found easily like the names of the board which I believe are public knowledge. They thought of stuff I wouldn’t have thought of which was important and why I’d fail as a hacker even if I had that kind of knowledge.
The characters were mostly ones from other books in the series and I liked them although there were so many by now and it’s been a long enough time since I read the other books that without an introduction, it was hard to keep them straight. This brother Julius and his mate Ethan were sweet together. The kids weren’t too annoying even though they were in a lot of it, and they acted age appropriate which was refreshing.
I’ve complained in the other books that they kept claiming that orca clans are matriarchal but there weren’t any women in the family except the grandmother who was away on an insanely long trip. I think it’s weird that there’s no orca of their generation to take over when she’s gone but that’s the typical omission of a series with a different couple each one. The author will prepare for having a lot of books and think they must have all men to make that happen.
This was also typical in that not only was there a dearth of females in the family, there were barely any women in the story at all. The dead sibling CEO was female and the only board member who spoke (all of a couple of lines) was a woman. This shows that women could be powerful. But the only female throughout the whole book was a young woman in college who became a nanny for the kids between terms.
It was cute that the mate was a panda shifter when orcas are sometimes called sea pandas for their coloring. That’s the only thing the two species have in common as in general pandas are docile creatures whereas killer whales are so named because they’ll kill and eat huge creatures including other whales.
There was some excitement and danger. Of course I had issues. I guess I have issues with everything. I’m really glad they realized that you couldn’t promise things you have no real control over.
Of course there was a long villain monologue. He wasn’t even being asked anything. He just went on and on. He’s apprehended off page though, which I really dislike.
The epilogue makes it clear that this is the end of the series. It’s delivered by the grandmother, the mostly absent matriarch of the family who finally reappeared at the end of the book. I’m sorry to see the series go. The family situation with them being modern day Robin Hood art thieves was interesting. Maybe it’s because I loved the show White Collar so much.
The reader, Declan Winters, was very good. His narrating voice was pleasant and he had a couple ofa voices with the MCs sounding different when talking. I wish he’d had more voices though. The grandmother sounded like a man. While I like when narrators don’t make all females have high voices, this was a major fail. He also paused between sentences very frequently. A pregnant pause is only necessary when something being said is really important.
We’ve come to the end of the ORCA series, and Vinni has once again delivered a thrilling story, but this time with Julius and Ethan smack in the middle.
Julius and Ethan are fated mates, and their chemistry is immediate and undeniable...though Ethan doesn’t recognise it for what it is at first. Sparks fly, so to say, from their very first meeting, but life isn’t exactly simple. Ethan is trying to juggle his responsibilities as a CEO and a devoted single father to his adorable panda shifter twins, all while grieving the loss of his sister (and brother-in-law). He barely has time to breathe, so falling in love is definitely not on his to-do list. Meanwhile, Julius is secretly investigating the financial records of Ethan’s company, Grove Core, under false pretences...and he’s feeling guilty for keeping secrets while also hoping real hard that Ethan isn’t involved in anything shady.
What I loved most was the care and thoughtfulness Julius showed Ethan, even before they became lovers. The quiet care and small gestures, like bringing Ethan food when he forgets to eat, really won me over. And when the truth about Julius’s presence at Grove Core comes out, Ethan’s reaction feels realistic. He’s hurt, but he wasn’t unforgiving. They work through it, and that honesty actually becomes the foundation of their relationship.
But this book isn’t just romance. There is also action, and the mystery that has simmered throughout the series finally gets to be solved. We get answers, especially around the painting The Evolution of Man, and all the pieces finally fall into place, revealing the true villain behind all the troubles. Unfortunately, the climax wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped it would be. To be honest, the reveal of the villain felt a bit underwhelming. And that’s mostly because the villain hadn’t played a significant role in the previous books. Even though I had a hunch (not until this book), the overarching story didn’t build up enough evidence or tension around that character to really make the twist feel earned.
On the other side, the family moments are just as important as the romance. It was a joy to see the entire Hunter clan, all the ORCA brothers, cousins, and their mates, come together in loyalty and to support each other. And although we’re saying goodbye to the series, it’s wonderful to leave the Hunters in their well-deserved HEA.
Cal and Jack’s book was the one I anticipated most in the series, but this book was definitely better executed, especially in how it stayed true to the characters and kept the plot from overshadowing the relationship. And while Cal and Jack are still my favourite couple, Julius and Ethan are now right up there with them, sharing the top spot.
I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my unbiased review.
Julius and Ethan's love story was heartfelt, captivating, and a fantastic culmination of the overarching plotline from the rest of the series. I fell head over heels for the two leading men and their adorable twins, Jude and Lily. As fated mates, Ethan and Jules felt sparks from the moment they met, but between Ethan running himself ragged as CEO and full-time parent and Jules secretly investigating Grove Core's financial records, they had their reasons for proceeding with caution. I loved how fiercely Jules advocated for Ethan, and I thought it was so sweet the way he noticed that Ethan never had time to eat and started bringing him food. When Jules did have to reveal the ulterior motive for him being at Grove Core, Ethan reacted as anyone confronted with an unpleasant truth would, but thankfully he was willing to move past it instead of cutting Jules out of his life. If anything, coming clean kickstarted a fiery, passionate side of Ethan that he'd been too exhausted to feel for weeks, and that translated to some steamy as heck interludes. The remainder of the book was a tense investigation of who was targeting both Ethan and Julius's families, a tender coming together of fated mates, and a series of wholesome and playful family bonding moments between the ORCA brothers, their mates, and the twins. I was riveted regardless of what was happening on page, and the more the tension ramped up towards the final climax, the more eager I was to see the Hunter family take down their enemies and keep their loved ones safe. It made me so happy to see the whole family rally together and volunteer their unique skills in the final showdown, and even though I knew it would be explosive, some of the reveals were especially devastating to hear. At the end of the day, every one of the Hunter brothers demonstrated that they would do whatever it took to keep their family and mates safe, and it was that same loyalty and devotion that made me confident that they'll continue to protect and care for each other for the rest of their lives.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
Something that I have loved about this series is how important family is within these books, all the brothers live together and want to and enjoy spending time with each other. The bond they all have is so precious, and I'm elated that it's so important in each of these stories.
Julius is the last of his family who has yet to find his mate, when he has to go undercover to try to figure out who owns the bank accounts his family has been investigating, he gets a surprise he wasn't prepared for.
I honestly adore Julius, Ethan, Lily and Jude, they make such a cute family. Even before the twins knew who Julius was they had a connection to him, it was so cute reading about how comfortable they felt around the Sea Panda. Also, can I just say how much I love the fact that Killer Whales are sometimes called sea pandas and how Julius is a Killer Whale shifter and Ethan is an actual panda shifter? That is just so cute, well done Vinni! I thought Ethan and Julius's relationship did develop a bit quickly but it didn't feel rushed or anything, the pace of the story just felt more fast than previous stories, but that's not a bad thing! I actually think it fit really well here.
Now, as for the overarching plot that has flowed through the previous books.. I thought that was handled tremendously well. I liked how things picked right up where the last book left off, I enjoyed learning more details alongside the characters and trying to figure out who is causing so much trouble. Let me just say, I was not prepared for who it ended up being! I suspected who the culprit was but I never expected for the bad guy to be so interconnected with Julius and his siblings as well as connected to Ethan. That was really well done and I enjoyed it a lot!
I'm sad to see this series and these characters go but this was such a tremendous way to wrap up such an amazing series. I'm really glad all these men found their person and were able to get their hard won HEA's. And we finally got to see Juno!!
Monochrome is the finale story of Vinni George’s ORCA series about a group of orca whale shifters , the agency they form (ORCA ) to find and return stolen artifacts and artwork and the fated mates the find at each case and investigation.
I really enjoyed this as it tied up the overall series mystery of the missing artwork, brought out the revelations behind several deaths, the last brother, Julius found a mate and a family, and the grandmother finally comes home.
Julius Hunter is the last brother to find his fated mate. When he does, it’s his client, a panda shifter, Ethan Lin , who has guardianship of his young niece and nephew.
It’s a great romance, the children who become part of the growing Hunter family, are absolutely adorable, and Ethan as an overwhelmed, stressed and anxious man is a relatable character.
All the brothers and mates, as well as cousins and mates are here working together on the investigations and mysteries. It’s a fantastic story, pulling together every aspect of all the books and characters to create an absolutely amazing and satisfying finale.
Loved this and it’s one I’m definitely recommending.
I wish the covers were story or character oriented in some form. They honestly could be applied to any other genre or book.
I loved this book and this series! It’s finally time for the final brother Julius to get his mate and what a tale it is! Ethan is now the CEO of the family company after the death of his sister Tessa. There looks to be some shady transactions going on that tie to the search for the elusive Evolution of Man painting and that is what will put Ethan in Julius’s sites. As Julius starts to investigate he finds out that not only is Ethan his fated mate, but that he isn’t the one responsible for the transactions regardless of what the data logs indicate. Someone is also using Tessa’s email account after her death and things get a bit complicated as Julius and the gang try to unravel the mystery. The two become closer and things are going well until the responsible party turns up the heat. They will need all the help they can get, especially when Ethan’s niece and nephew are put in danger. The truth will be a bit shocking and it will tie everything together. We get to meet the elusive Juno in the end as the bad guy pays for his crimes and the good guys get their happily ever after!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
This is the last book in the ORCA series and for me - it ends with a bang. As there is an overall story ARC, the books have to be read in order.
Ethan and Jules are my favourite couple, I mean, panda shifter and a single dad, Ethan is catnip for me.
When Jules is going undercover to find out why Ethan's company is part of the big mystery about the missing painting, finding out that he is his fated mate wasn't on the to-do list.
I love how Jules is accepting it, embracing it. Making sure Ethan and the children are cared for and trying everything to find out what really is happening. Ethan takes Jules' relevaltions well, he never wanted to be the CEO and protecting his late sister's legacy is important.
There is heat but what's more, there is proper feelings and love even before they tear up the sheets.
The whole gang and some more are there, you can see how the other three couples are now in love, settled and happy.
We also meet the elusive Juno at last.
The final is quite unexpected, I love the painting's whereabout.
I do hope the Hunters and their mates will reappear in the future, I miss them already.
The last of the ORCA books and it was the best! Ethan was so wonderful and took such good care of his orphaned niece and nephew even while dealing with his own grief at the loss of his sister and trouble at the company that he was made CEO after Tessa's death. Julius was sent to spy on him and you like him very much and hope that Ethan is innocent. The story was complicated and when Julius and Ethan were almost killed in a hit and run accident and later revealed that the SUV which rammed them was the same SUV that caused the accident that killed Tessa and Owen they knew that Ethan was in danger and he and the kids were moved into the family compound. My favorite scene was when Ethan comforted the kids by shifting to his panda and Julius found them curled up together. It was upsetting when the twins were kidnapped but of course were rescued. I loved when their grandmother came and revealed that the real Evolution of Man painting was hidden in their compound and they agreed to return it to the museum that it had been originally stolen from. This was such a satisfying ending to this series.
Thank you for the book, here is my honest opinion: A wonderful conclusion to the ORCA series! I’ve enjoyed how the author has slowly built up the mystery side of the plot over the missing artwork. The art heist vibes were a creative and fun backdrop to the lovely romances, this final couple is Julius and Ethan. I enjoyed the tension in the plot as you know Ethan is bound to find out Julius’s real reason for offering his auditing services- his suspicion of Ethan and his company’s potential involvement in missing art. I enjoyed these two together and I appreciated how they work through the initial deception. I personally could have done with less kid time with Ethan’s niece and nephew. But, Lily and Jude are cute and I’m sure many will love their involvement in the story. The couple is pretty lovely together and I especially liked how Julius could not stop himself from jumping in to help the struggling Ethan and his kids. This has been such a great ride with excellent characters, a compelling mystery, and some excellent world building. Loved it!
What a great series, the whole 4 book series (plus a short story) has a complex overarching storyline that's much bigger than the individual romances focussed on in each book, so although the couples get HEAs (or HFNs) in each instalment and technically stand alone, each story actually ends on something of a cliffhanger, with the next picking up chronologically so with this final instalment we finally get to learn what is actually happening in this complex art heist meets vigilantes meets shifter combo series AND see a sea panda fall for a, well, panda panda (and his adorable adopted kids). It definitely needs to be read in sequence and I can't say too much about this book specifically in order to avoid spoilers, but essentially the ORCA series follows a group of orca shifter brothers (plus a couple of cousins as side characters) who are buried deep in the murky world of high value art theft, but in a very modern Robin Hood way, with plenty of 'touch him and d!e', sending in the cavalry when things go wrong and steamy claiming moments along the way.
‘It felt freeing to voice my fear out loud. I’d been holding it in since we’d learned Tessa’s accident and our accident weren’t accidents at all. It had been why I’d needed to feel Ethan under me last night, why I’d needed him so badly. It had been bad enough when I thought it was only his reputation that was being threatened, but now that I knew it was his life, the stakes were even higher.’
Finding their perfect mate is the theme for Vinni George’s ORCA mm shifter romances, but there is so much more to them, as seen in Monochrome, book 4 in the series.
Ethan has suffered terribly, from the loss of his sister to raising his twin niece and nephew, all while trying to stay afloat in their family business. Feeling caught up in his own dilemma, Jules and his brothers continue to seek out those behind the theft of a very important painting. Their two words collide, and this panda shifter and sea panda (orca) shifter conquer the challenges, including their romance.
4.25/5 I really liked Ethan and Julius together, and Lily and Jude were adorable! The connection between all of them was immediate but felt real and solid, like they were all exactly what they needed at a time when Ethan and the kids’ lives had been turned upside down.
I did feel that there was a little bit of a gap in investigative skills, where the team was following the money but not looking for other avenues of investigation (like “who might benefit in this scenario”). But that’s also easy to say from the comfort of my chair reading the book, lol. The book characters have a million more suspects and random everyday occurrences happening.
I appreciated when the truth came out between MCs so that there was actually time to talk about it and communicate. I really enjoyed watching these two get closer to one another. I really enjoyed the cozy moments between Julius and Ethan, but there’s also lots of action-packed adventure, and it’s very satisfying to see everything resolve. I was happy to meet Juno finally!
Last book in the ORCA series. Finally, is Julius turn to find the love of his life and his fated mate, Ethan. The story between them starts in a little bit problematic way, since Julius is investigating about Ethan’s company (hoping he’s not involved in anything bad), and when Ethan discovers everything, he gets angry at him. But they manage to overtake all odds, and get their well deserved HEA. In this book, we also discover what happened to the painting, The Evolution of Man, that the Hunter family was searching all over the world, and the mystery gets solved. As in the previous volumes, there is a lot of action, fun, and love, and once again we have the privilege to see the whole ORCA organization at work. I really loved everything about this series, and I’m a little sad we’ve come to an end now, but maybe we’ll get a spin-off? Who knows? I hope so. In any case, I absolutely recommend it.
Monochrome by Vinni George is the final book in the ORCAseries. We finally get the answers that we have been seeking for the last three books. Julius Hunter is investigating how much CEO Ethan Lin knows about the fraudulent bank accounts that have been uncovered. Ethan is struggling to juggle being CEO and parent after his sister’s death. He has been raising her twins Jude and Lily while also trying to keep his company successful. I loved how the angst was not between the couple in this one. Their relationship only got stronger as the novel progressed and I truly appreciated how much Julius and Ethan loved each other. The ending was very satisfactory and I loved seeing a chapter from Juno. She’s been this mysterious character throughout the series and it was good to learn a little bit about her. I have definitely loved this series so much and cannot wait to see where the author takes us next.
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review
The fourth book in the ORCA series features Julian, the money man of the Hunter family. When the group traces the payment for the Evolution of Man painting to an offshore shell corporation connected to a legitimate corporation run by Ethan Lin. Julian goes into the company offering his services as a financial auditor. Julian realizes right away that panda shifter Ethan is his fated mate. Ethan is raising his twin niece and nephew. The children are adorable and add a sweet note to the story. I really enjoy Vinni George’s unusual shifters. I don’t think I’ve read another book about a panda or chameleon (from book 3) shifter. As with the other books in the series the romance is spicy and the action is fast-paced. I recommend the series to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. You should read the books in order. The mystery surrounding the painting The Evolution of Man develops over the course of the series.
"we fell asleep wrapped up in each other and the moment as our forever spread out in front of us."
What a great ending to the series ORCA (Organization for the Return of Criminals and Assets). I'm so sad that it's over. I felt the same way about the Land and Sea series too. Vinni George is an amazing story teller, I'm always on the edge of my seat until the final word in the final chapter of the final book.
The epilogue was a "and they lived happily ever after" moment written from Juno's, the matriarch of the family, POV. Loved it!!! We came full circle and the mystery around the painting, The Evolution of Man, was finally solved.
I can't wait to listen to these in audio with the amazing Declan Winters narration!!!
Orphaned children, a panda shifter and a sea panda shifter (orca), a bereft brother, kidnappers, art thieves, fated mates, one big amazing family
Julius Hunter, a modern-day Robin Hood, manipulates corrupt corporations to fund charities. His latest mission leads him to Ethan Lin, an unwilling CEO who suddenly becomes guardian to his late sister’s children. As Julius infiltrates Ethan’s corporate world, they uncover a shared enemy threatening both their families. With danger closing in, Julius must protect Ethan and his children, all while grappling with their deepening bond and the mystery surrounding a priceless artefact.
Finally, we find out who is behind everything and Julius found his fated mate too. I loved the way that both men cared for Ethan's nephew and niece and made sure that they were safe and well. Lots of emotions and feelings as they worked through all of the danger and drama. This was an MM story with mature content.
I loved this last installment in the ORCA series. I was really looking forward reading this story and it did not disappoint. I loved both Julius and Ethan so much! Plus the twins are adorable! I love their relationship journey. The way Julius takes care of Ethan and all their ups and downs was so fun to read. I was so invested and absolutely fell in love with them. I also loved seeing all the family and previous characters. It was a good way to end the series and say goodbye to them all. In addition I enjoyed the ending to the overarching series plot and mystery. How everyone came together to solve the mystery and fight to save their families. Overall, I loved this book and series and highly recommend it!
This was a nice conclusion to the series. It was a bit predictable. I do wish, however, that the bad guy’s role throughout the series had been recapped a bit better. I didn’t read these back to back, so it was hard to recall their role in past books and their full background. There is a summary, but it just wasn’t enough to truly jog my memory.
I liked Julius and Ethan’s relationship, as well as the dynamic with Ethan’s niece and nephew.
I assumed Juno would finally make an appearance in this last book, but it was pretty anticlimactic. The epilogue is in her POV, which was odd, but it did allow for a recap of the whole family pretty nicely.
It’s not a series I’d reread, but it was fun and Vinni is a solid author.
Ethan is running the US division of the family business while taking care of twins. He is trying to figure out if he missed something with the business financials when Julius shows up offering his services. Julius is usually working behind the scenes with ORCA but this particular mission has him working up close and personal with a panda shifter and said man has this sea panda all tied up in knots. Damn! Talk about things coming full circle. Such an incredible end to the series. At one point, towards the end, I had chills. Bravo, Vinni! Thank you for such an epic conclusion. I am going to miss this family!
If you've read the first three books in this series, then you understand why Julius is sent into Ethan's business. He's surprised to discover his new target is also his fated mate! It takes help from all of his brothers and their mates to untangle the mess Ethan's company is in and discover their common enemy. It's rather impressive the way it all ties together and just how far back the bad guy has been playing his long game. Such a satisfying wrap up! I thoroughly enjoyed this intense mystery!
Loved these two so much! I swear Vinni writes the sweetest fated mates. And come on and sea panda and actual panda! The way this ended describing these two in their shifter form was so perfect!
The final installment of this series was everything you wanted. Mystery still in full swing as we watch their romance develop. And when you throw in single dad/uncle who’s drowning in life and you get the sweetest man caretaking and making sure he eats and gets what he needs…it’s just chefs kiss!
And as always 10/10 for the audio by Declan Winters.
Julius and Ethan were plain and simply romantic. They felt so domestic to me kind of quickly since Julius is such a caretaker. Always noticing the little things Ethan needed that Ethan did not even realize he needed. All the series couples are here for the final mystery. Also, adorable baby pandas! I have honestly enjoyed and grown attached to everyone in this world. These two and their little family were a lovely way to end this series.
