This was supposed to be my final night of freedom—one last taste of independence before moving back in with my traditional Punjabi parents. No curfews. No questions. No arranged marriage talk.
Just one last night of zero consequences.
Then I meet Callum.
Gorgeous. Charismatic. A celebrity chef who could have anyone—but tonight, he’s chosen me.
He doesn’t know that my future is already decided. My parents have a plan for me—a “suitable boy” from our own community. A man I’ve never even met.
But Callum makes me laugh. He makes me want things I was never supposed to want. And when we’re alone, he makes me forget that my life isn’t really mine to live.
This was never meant to last. But walking away is already breaking my heart.
🔥 A British Asian heroine torn between family duty and forbidden love. 🔥 A celebrity chef who never expected to fall hard. 🔥 A one-night stand that refuses to stay in the past.
💖 If you love high-stakes forbidden romance, strong heroines, and heroes who refuse to give up, you’ll devour Mandi & Callum’s story.

*** L. Moone - Happy Endings for Underdogs
I first started writing and publishing in 2012 because I craved to see more of "my kind of books" on the shelves. In any scenario, you'll find me rooting for the underdog. The (emotionally) scarred hero who hasn't really had much (or any) luck in love. The shy office worker who wants to pursue the man of her dreams, but hasn't quite mustered the courage yet. All my characters are beautifully flawed and messed up, in a way that makes them perfect for one another.
By the way, since 2015, I also started to write Paranormal and Fantasy Romance as Lorelei Moone. Take a moment to browse all my books, because there's bound to be something you'll enjoy.

3.5 stars I have been getting mixed feelings on books lately and this one is another that has me pulled between a like and a just okay.
I loved the beginning of the book. Mandi is out for her last hurrah before moving back in with her parents and meets a delicious guy. One date night becomes a hot hookup and so much more.
Since this is a quick novella, you get the insta-love really fast. The book moves into it main focus on the cultural differences and how these two star crossed lovers have to try and overcome the odds. While it is well written, it is also very light on the deeper feelings and emotional connection.
Light on the steam but a solid romance that is unique and sweet too. Perfect for a quick pick me up!
"Only a Taste", was a well written, engrossing quick read that was difficult to put down. Another great read from Hedonist Six!If you've been following Hedonist Six's writing, then you would know that she writes sensual, realistic romance with ordinary characters just like us!I've read almost all of her books and she has never disappointed me.Only A Taste was another beautiful book!
On one hand we have Mandi(Mandeep Garg) who comes from a traditional, conservative Punjabi family. She has enjoyed life in her college and has been rooming with her bestie-Alice.But, she hasn't been able to find a job, so now she has no other option. She has to go back to her childhood home, stay with her family and work at her family friend's office! She has one day left and plans to make the most of it by going out with Alice and enjoying. On the beach she meets Callum- who seems somewhat familiar to her and he asks her out on a date.
Callum is a famous TV chef who is opening up his own restaurant. But, he is quite used to getting what he wants. So when he meets Mandi, he is immediately attracted to her and is taken by her.The more time he spends with her, he realises how different she is from the women he usually meets! But sadly all Mandi wants is one night. Will they be done with each other or will fate give them another chance?
I loved Mandi and the descriptions of her family.Considering the fact that I am Indian, I appreciate the characterisations and can relate to them.Though not all Indian families are super conservative these days, many still follow traditions and arranged marriages do still happen. When compared to a freer setting like Britain, one can easily understand why Mandi feels restricted especially when she has a set of parents who don't completely understand her!But on the other hand I love her dadi(grandmother)! What an awesome lady!LOL
Mandi and Callum's relationship was cute though a little rushed. They have an undeniable connection but somehow I wasn't satisfied.I loved the efforts that Callum took to win over Mandi and her family. He was really sweet and understanding. But I think the author could have spent more time developing their relationship as I didn't really feel it and couldn't fully understand why they wanted to be with each other. Though I loved Mandi's family and the way the author got the Punjabi family style right, I wasn't really blown over by Callum and Mandi's relationship.I know I shouldn't compare but I think I live the previous novellas in this series more. But, this is undoubtedly a great, short read featuring a cute, intercultural romance!

Love can be found in the most unexpected places and develop in the most unexpected ways. For Mandi, she has one last night of freedom left before she has to head back home, move in with her family and get married off to a suitable suitor her parents have picked. That is the Indian way despite living in England and the 22nd Century. With one last day of freedom, Mandi and her best friend/roommate Alice head to Brighton Beach for the day. There they will soak up the sun, go for a swim and if you are Mandi, she will meet a handsome guy while standing in line for ice-cream. One thing leads to another, and the two share an amazing meal and night together. A night where Mandi discovers that her newfound friend is a famous TV Chef. Callum didn't come looking for love instead he was hoping to find a place for his new restaurant. A One Night stand leaves both of them falling deep and connecting with one another in a way neither has felt before. Can the pair pick up the romance again and further it deeper or will reality get in its way? Will Mandi and Callum find a way back into love or will this be just a One Night Stand for the History books? Find out in Book #3 of Hedonist Six's Chance Encounters Series.
Good, short read that was very entertaining. Good pace and plot, just wish the author would've went a little more in-depth with the heroine's parents and more on her feelings, but I loved the book overall. Strong hero who know exactly what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it. I reviewed this after receiving an Advanced Readers Copy and would recommend it.
Of all the books in the Chance Encounters series, Only A Taste ahs to be the most 'cutesey' of them all. Afraid of losing all the advantages that comes with living alone, Mandi has reservations about having to move back in with her parents, especially when she has such strong feelings for Callum, the man she meets the night before leaving her apartment. Unsure if one night is enough, both Callum and Mandi realize that their chemistry is different from any other they've ever felt before.
4 breath taking dreams
Hedonist Six managed to write a beautiful conclusion to her Chance Encounters series and it's one book that give you those small chills down your spine when you realize that some types of chemistry, love and connections are rare, but something that we all want. I was enchanted by Only A Taste as well as the relationship that grew and strengthened between Calum and Mandi. For certain Hedonist Six is one fascinating author that I'm curious to know more about in the very near future.
Read and reviewed on behalf of 2 girls who love books blog.
Only a Taste is a lovely romance novella by Hedonist Six and is the third book in the Chance Encounters series. It can be read as a standalone. I have not read anything by this author before so I am always excited to read stories from somebody knew to me and I wasn’t disappointed. This story was different for me as it was based around how family traditions can impact on your relationships and I’ve never read a book before with this storyline. I felt it did have a true life feeling about it which I enjoyed.
The story is about Mandi (Mandeep) who comes from a very traditional and conservative Punjabi family and is forced to move back in with her parents. On her last night before she moves back home Mandi meets TV chef Callum Byrne, there are undeniable sparks and they both like each other but she soon realises nothing more can happen between them especially when she finds out her parents are more than eager to arrange a suitable husband for her.
I liked the characters, I really felt for Mandi, she desperately wanted to be with Callum but also had a lot of respect for her parents and didn’t want to upset them. I loved how Callum fought for Mandi and tried to prove that he could be everything she would want in a partner and showed a lot of respect for her parent’s traditional values.
Interesting read. However, most books tend to favour an asian female with a westernised mindset. Liberal traits such as cursing, drinking .
It would be good to have a character who is resolute with her conservative values and traditional upbringing while embracing a multicultural relationship.
Real Interracial relationships as well as marriages between a Caucasian and Punjabi couple is a beautiful reality. Hopefully, there will be more books available on this theme.
There is a growing demand for such stories with a strong readership base.
This book was a quick read. I thought the book was well written. The main characters were from two different culturals. I think the author did a good job with how the India cultural is and how it still is today. If you are looking for a quick cute read then I would recommend this book.
I received a copy from AXP and I'm willingly leaving a review It is a gloomy story with many negative thoughts. But I have to say that I really laughed when the h says "Even Dad, who rarely shows any emotion at all" because Dad, all through the book, had fits of rage.
•Family Culture After successfully completing her university degree, Mandi is still unable to secure a job in her degree field. So Mandi and her best friend Alice decide to go to Brighton beach one last time. As a farewell party before Mandi has to move home in the morning to her conservative family ways. Which means she'll lose the freedom she's had since starting university and moving in with Alice. No more staying out late at night clubs until her feet cannot hold her upright, in all honesty it means no more night clubs or hanging out with any guys period. She'll be forced back into their family culture with her father picking her future husband. Famous TV chef extraordinaire Callum Bryne is in Brighton beach to look for a location for his next restaurant. After calling it quits for the day he stops at an ice cream truck stand to get a rum and raisin Gelato. He and another girl order the same flavor at the same time, unfortunately the truck only has one scoop left. He's struck tongue tied by her exotic beauty which is unlike him, he's used to getting his way with everything, even women. He decides to let her have it and orders another flavor for himself. He then asks her out to dinner, and it's refreshing to know she doesn't recognize him. Games won't work on her, with her he has to take off the mask and let her see the real Callum Byrne they'd never air on TV. Mandi is upfront and honest with Callum telling him this could only be a one night thing. But something changes for both of them, and as much as it pains her she knows her parents will not allow her to see him. While reading you'll see what these two have to go through to figure out how to get what they truly want. But can it actually happen?? To see what happens between Mandi and Callum you'll have to read ONLY A TASTE! This was a refreshing multicultural novella that was an enjoyable read. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what happened next. Chance Encounters is an amazing series of stand-alone contemporary romance novellas set in jolly old England. What a sweet little story. This book is just as well written and such a good plot line, and very easy to follow.
This book is about Mandeep and Callum. Although they come from different cultures this still feel a deep connection after one night together. But it can only be one night, it is time for her to go home and let her parents set her up with a husband as her culture dictates. But Callum cannot forget Mandi nor does he wants to. But her family will not allow it. That is unless he can change their minds.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy these books as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
I give Only a Taste (Book 3 - Chance Encounters) 5 stars for delivering romance, intrigue, suspense, and a whole lot more. The characters were awesome, the family dynamics were interesting, and being able to mesh different cultures was great.
Hedonist Six has written a great story about acceptance, letting go of cultural differences in order to get the results that were wanted in the first place.
Mandi and Callum met in Brighton and spent a beautiful evening together. Sparks fly immediately. In the morning she is returning to her family home and this will all be forgotten. Can either of them really move on?
Mandeep Grewal is a twenty-three year old graduate with no job prospects. On her last day of freedom before moving back home with her parents, she goes to Brighton beach with her friend. Today she still gets to be herself, not who her folks expect her to be. A last celebration before she has to forget herself and fit in with what is expected of her. Her culture believes in fixed marriages and she does not want to get married. Will she get what she wants?
Callus Byrne, TV chef whose used to getting what he wants both in relationships and life in general, is thinking of opening a restaurant in Brighton and is visiting a potential location. He meets Mandi and knows almost immediately that his life has been changed forever. After spending one night together, and her telling that is all that they will have, he promises her it is not over. Can he get her to change her mind?
Only a Taste (Book 3 - Chance Encounters) is a romance novel about two people from different cultures who meet, fall in love, and have to overcome the traditions of her family in order to be together.
This instalment of Chance Encounters is an intercultural romance on how family traditions can impact relationships.
Callum is a celebrity chef who is used to being recognised wherever he goes. He is also popular with the ladies, not necessarily for the right reasons.
Mandi aka Mandeep has just graduated and not having much luck with her job search is forced to go back home to her family. Not a welcome change as far as she is concerned.
Mandi's best friend comes up with the idea of spending a day in Brighton as a last farewell. Callum is attending to business in Brighton and bumps into Mandi when buying ice cream. British summer! Callum is impressed by Mandi's reaction to him. Not something that he is familiar with and tries his luck. They hit it off straightaway but it can only be a one night stand because of Mandi's family tradition and the cultural differences.
They part with reluctance the next day but neither of them can forget their time together. Now that Mandi is back home, her family is eager to see her settle down and starts a matchmaking process. Family is important and Mandi is left with little or no choices even though she has feelings for Callum. Can they find a way to overcome these barriers?
It's a short story, highlighting family values and traditions. Callum and Mandi are believable characters despite the insta love. My favourite character has to be Mandi's grandmother. Overall it's a good read and would appeal to 18+ readers who like a short, sweet and sexy romance.
I received a complimentary eARC. The views expressed are my personal opinion.
I received this copy via Member Giveaway for an honest review. Thank you!
The book is a short chick-lit novella and perfectly fits in the genre, it has intimate character, quick-short story which meets high suspense, humour and sweet ending. The book is written partly from both main character perspective to the situations where they meet. Its interesting and I had to laugh about situation with cultural-indian family relationship.
The main male character has lived up recently high on his popularity and easy gaming with woman...His personality seems plain until the reader reveals more personal information, of course, all characters have personalities and personal life fights which moves them towards their actions or ups and downs. The female main character starts the story from the most broken point of her life - moving back to very old-fashioned parents and having no-close attached to anyone except her grandma, who has always guided and listened to her granddaughter. She is up to face a very traditional life situation when being single to her parents eyes and 23 y old..
Although book 3 in the Chance Encounters Series, Only a Taste can be read as a stand-alone seeing as each book is about different characters. Once again Hedonist gives you a read that makes you think this could be the couple you know down the street. There's so much true life feelings through her books you cannot help but fall in love with not only the characters but the original story-line as well.
Mandi comes from a family that is very traditional and conservative. After gaining her degree shes forced to move back in with her parents but on her last night before heading home her friend insists on one more night of freedom and fun. In which she meets Callum who is a TV chef. the spark between these two from the very first moments is one that they each want to explore but at the same time know that nothing can happen outside of that one night.
After one night and knowing how her parents are can she let him go? Will he let her go or will he fight for her? Find out for yourself today!!
This novella was cute. I liked Callum and Mandi, but felt like the story I started wasn't the story I finished. Both parts were nice enough. I just felt rushed; like I got disconnected and missed the all-important middle portion. The first part is when they meet and agree to a date. This also happens to be her last night 'free' from her parents. The evening goes well and ends up quite intimate. Afterwards, she moves back home. Neither can forget their connection, but due to family tradition they have a difficult time thinking of more. Afterall, Mandi's parents are trying to find her a suitable man to marry. This is where the story turns and goes warp speed on me. I liked the ending, as it was quite cute. But again, I felt like I missed being able to enjoy the rest of the story.
This one wasn't quite as good as some of Hedonist's other books. Overall, it was really rushed, and Mandi's Indian culture is emphasized as being really important but I think some of the intricacies of how could have been addressed better to enhance the story. Without getting too spoiler-y, I thought the "problem" of the story was resolved too simply and unrealistically. Also, the number of f-bombs thrown into this book were totally unnecessary - since when does literature (even trashy erotica) have to have juvenile cursing thrown around so much?
I'll continue to read future books by her, but this one was not a favorite at all.
A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick read novella between an English chef and a woman from India. It was hard to get into the characters as it all happened so fast. I know novellas run quickly but after one night together, Callum is professing his love for Mandeep and asking for her hand in marriage. It didn't feel real or well played out. Mandeep is returning to her parents' home after being unable to find a job after college, Due to tradition, her parents are trying to find her a suitable husband, of which Mandeep wants no part of. Callum is determined to win over her parents and marry Mandeep. A quick novella that may have been better as a full novel.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
This is one of Hedonist Six sweeter reads. I really enjoyed the falling in love at first sight story (that is the story of my life) and how Mandi, (Mandeep Grewal) being from an Indian culture dating a white man was totally out of the question from her parents. I love how TV Chef Callum Byrne (the guy who fell in love with her) works his magic.
I really can't say a lot about the book without giving the story line away so all I can say is this is a good book. If you have bought part of the book before like I did update your book so you will now have the entire book.
This was a very quick read... it had my attention from the beginning. Well written, very sensual not very steamy. I loved Callum, he came across very caring and thoughtful. It was a near instant "I love you" kind of read, which I usually hate, but because of the length of the book i guess I could accept that. I was disappointed in this though, thought the courtship could have been longer. Never the less I enjoyed this book. I was given a complimentry copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
This is the first book that I have read from Hedonist Six. It was a little different from what I usually read. However, I really enjoyed the story. Mandi was a very fun person, but still so innocent. Callum is a more confident man and is use to getting what he wants. Makes you appreciate things more when you have to work outside your comfort zone. This book is part of a series, but in no way did I feel lost. It works well as a stand alone. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this Book.
A lovely story of love at first sight set in a multicultural theme. Coming from a similar background and marrying outside of my community I can easily relate to Mandi's dilemma. Callum of course rises beyond all expectations and takes a stand for her which is very rare in real life. Of all the Chance Encounters titles, this one is definitely my favorite. A must read for all hardcore romantics
A chance encounter that leaves you reeling with not only 'what if' but the hope that it could be possible. After all the possibilities are endless in hopes that one could truly find Love. But the odds of acceptance are all together a new issue. Coming form two world with little acceptance strain the relationship. Can they find a way to be together? Really enjoyed the read. Kept my finger crossed the entire time. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review.
Great story. Let's us learn another culture and what their life is like. How much you have to go through for love and the changes the other person has to go through for that love. Really good and fun story. I recommend it. I was given this advanced review copy and voluntarily review it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Callum and Mandi. It proves that true love can and does exist despite culture differences. And it was wonderful to see Mandi (especially as a grown woman) stick to her guns and follow her heart. Short and sweet read!
A do not miss read for all romance addicts. A perfect blend of sweet true love and intense sensual moments. A quick read with a simple yet entertaining storyline that explores culture differences.
