Not all prisons have bars. Charlotte Davis should know-she's lived in one for years. She can handle getting slapped around by her boyfriend, Tommy, and even being forced to do things she would never choose, but when Tommy turns on her 10-year-old daughter, Charlotte must try to escape. With nowhere else to turn, Charlotte runs to the stranger her dying mother believed would help her.

Looking only for shelter or cash, Charlotte finds a family she longs to call her own and a gentle man she could learn to love. But if Tommy catches up with Charlotte, these strangers could discover the truth about her. Will they send her back to Tommy? Or can a Father's love set her free?

Jerusha Agen’s This Redeemer hits the ground running and never lets up ‘til it ends. More than once, I found myself holding my breath as I clicked to turn the page. Truth: I wasn’t sure I was going to like Charlotte Davis. She was one messed-up girl. But she is exactly the sort Jesus would seek out to love on. Charlotte’s heart longed so for the dream she couldn’t have, you’re drawn to her. You want her to win. You want little Phoebe to have a better life.

This is a story so real at times, it’s uncomfortable. Kind of like walking on hot coals. You want to hurry right along. Will someone so badly messed up finally get her life straightened out in the end? Will the Sanders family lose patience with her stubborn little self and kick her out? I might’ve been tempted. I’m not sure I have the strength to keep loving in the face of so much disorder. But I was never once tempted to stop reading. I was drawn in from the first and held on for dear life, ending with a smile on my face, and a warm glow in my heart.

I’ve still to read the first two books in Jerusha’s Sisters Redeemed Series, but that made no difference. The characters were well filled out and no major questions arose over who was who. I WILL be reading the other two, right away. And if there was another one, I’d probably read that, too.

I just finished reading "This Redeemer" and I loved it! Perhaps the most sobering story in the Sisters Redeemed series, it is also the most uplifting, as the amazing mercy of God is so authentically depicted in the lives of every character presented. I wasn't sure how the author would be able to top "This Shadow," which so strikingly portrayed the truth that God works in all circumstances, no matter how bleak or devastating. But she did it by upping the ante with some unexpected surprises, once again delivering a riveting story that won't let you put the book down. My favorite aspect of this final installment in the series is how each of the characters from the first two books plays a unique role in the story. The individuals that I have come to know and love are all there, sharing in the struggles and joys of the protagonists, helping to teach them what they learned about God's immense love in their own lives. Just when I thought the series couldn't get any better, Jerusha Agen delivers her best piece of writing yet -- a polished and artful story that shows off her ability to create realistic, authentic, and relatable characters. While it's the perfect finishing touch to the series, "This Redeemer" can easily stand on its own and presents the reader with an honest, engaging, and touching story of redemption that you won't want to miss!

I thought I was reading book two of the Sisters Redeemed series but then realized I'd skipped to book three. No matter, because this story could read well as a stand-alone. However, I'd read book one of the series and easily caught up with the family in this story. In This Redeemer, I connected with the main female character, Charlotte, and the handsome cop, Gabe, who tries to help her. Charlotte is a girl who's never known real love from adults—her parents or the men she's been involved with—until she meets her biological father and sisters. This is well-written Christian fiction that will appeal to those who like romantic suspense. The pacing is excellent. I will go back and pick up book two later.

Charlotte is lost. Her lifestyle, unsavory and criminal. Yet, she’s desperate to protect her daughter from an abusive situation. Fearful for their lives, she turns to an unlikely source for help. Once there, she doesn’t trust the sincerity of the people she meets. She even pushes and resists to prove their generosity, and Christianity must be a sham. What she finds is true love . . . on several levels. . . but not without having to face her past and the manipulator who has found his way into her present.

I enjoyed this book, but had a little more trouble connecting with the characters. The DV angle was good, but could have been portrayed a bit differently, but I totally enjoyed the police officer part in that.
I am going to miss the characters though, by the end, especially the ones from the previous books!

I was hooked from the tense opening scene. The book’s unique tone and slower pace separate it from the previous books in the trilogy. The pacing is both a pro and a con: sometimes the story dragged, but it also created the sense of being locked in a prison with Charlotte. I related easily to her and her new love interest, Gabe, especially since they both distrust people—including each other! When I learned the cause of Gabe’s mistrust, I was both surprised and satisfied.

A couple minor flaws: the author twice used a slang term for sex that I found off putting, but it does make sense coming from the unrefined characters who say it. Also, the age of Charlotte’s abusive ex is revealed near the end. It’s a significant detail that would’ve been helpful to know in chapter one.

The finale is still immensely rewarding as guilt and grace collide for Charlotte. While it wasn’t my favorite book in the trilogy, This Redeemer beautifully clinches the series’ overarching theme of redemption.

I love this series and highly recommend it to anyone interested in Christian women's fiction with strong romance plot lines. This one also had an element of suspense.
