I chose to read this book after watching Samantar Web series. I read various review about this book before buying this book. All the views were of the opinion that,"Book is much more exciting than a web series". Today, I finally finished the book.
My observations:
1. Web series changed certain portions in order to make it more exciting
2. Book is good with main concept but not more than that, although it keeps you engaging
3. You kept on reading with the expectation of getting a shock in the end, but you end up getting a feeling of dullness.
4. Story becomes predictable and you get ideas about it in between. It falls flat in the end, felt he hurriedly ended it, he could have given some twists and turns, probably author lost energy in the end.
5. Since the web series did phenomenal job of making it more exciting, I would be expecting it to change certain portions in part 2 and make it more exciting.
Bottom Line:
1. Don't buy the book with the expectation of getting soemting really exciting
2. Wait for part 2 to stream on ott platform, that would save your money and time, there is also a possibility of getting something exciting than a book
3.Overall mediocre experience, so, don't get excited,keep quiet and wait for second season.

नियतीची द्वंद्व कथा: सुहास शिरवळकरांच्या थरारक कथेत एका माणसाची नियती बदलण्याची धडपड
ही कुमार महाजनची गोष्ट आहे, जो आपल्या पत्नी आणि मुलासह राहतो, आणि एका कठीण जीवनातून जात असतो. एका दिवशी, मित्राच्या आग्रहावरून तो एका ज्योतिष्याकडे जातो.
कुमारची हस्तरेषा पाहून ज्योतिष सांगतो की, कुमार याआधी देखील त्याच्याकडे आला आहे. कुमार ते नाकारतो, म्हणतो की त्याला ज्योतिषशास्त्रात विश्वास नाही आणि ही त्याची पहिलीच भेट आहे. मात्र ज्योतिष ठामपणे सांगतो की, दोन हातांच्या रेषा कधीही सारख्या नसतात. तो कुमारला निघून पुन्हा परत यायला सांगतो.

सुहास शिरवळकरांनी लिहिलेला हा वेगवान थरारक कधीही गती सोडत नाही. मी आधीच या पुस्तकावर आधारित वेब सीरिज पाहिली होती, पण पुस्तक वाचल्यावर मला अजून वेगळ्या पातळीचा रोमांच आणि आनंद मिळाला.
हे पुस्तक मराठीत आहे, आणि मला वाटतं की ते इतर भाषांमध्ये देखील भाषांतरित झालं पाहिजे.
मला हे पुस्तक खूप आवडलं आणि या लेखकाची अजून पुस्तके नक्कीच वाचणार!

This is the story of Kumar Mahajan, a man living with his wife and child, struggling through a difficult life. One day, at the insistence of a friend, he visits an astrologer.
Upon reading Kumar’s palm, the astrologer claims that Kumar has visited him before. Kumar denies this, saying he doesn't believe in the occult and that this is his first visit. The astrologer insists, troubled, that no two palms are alike. He asks Kumar to leave and return later.
When Kumar returns, the astrologer is even more shaken. He reveals that he had seen this exact palm 30 years ago and is shocked to see the same lines on Kumar’s hand. The astrologer refuses to predict Kumar’s future, just as he had refused to do for the previous person. However, he gives Kumar a name: 'Sudarshan Chakrapani.'
If the palm is identical, their lives must be as well—along with the events that shaped them. With this in mind, Kumar resolves to find Sudarshan Chakrapani to learn more, hoping to change his own destiny.
This fast-paced thriller, written by Suhas Shirvalkar, never loses its momentum. I had already watched the web series based on the book, but reading the novel gave me a whole new level of excitement and adrenaline.
The book is in Marathi, and I wish it were translated into other languages too.
I loved this book and will definitely be reading more from this author!

ही कथा आहे कुमार महाजन या मध्यमवर्गीय विवाहित, वाईट परिस्थितीने खचलेल्या माणसाची. अशातच त्याचा मित्र त्याला एका स्वामींकडे घेऊन जातो, भविष्य जाणून घेण्यासाठी. भविष्य, नशीब असल्या गोष्टींवर विश्वास नसलेल्या कुमारचा स्वामींच्या तोंडून कुमारच्या भूतकाळात घडलेल्या गोष्टी ऐकून स्वामींवर विश्वास बसतो. कुमार स्वामींकडे प्रथमच आलेला असतानाही त्याचा हात स्वामींनी आधीही बघितल्याचं सांगतात आणि त्याला भविष्य सांगायला नकार देतात. या गोंधळातून सुदर्शन चक्रपाणी नावाची एक 30 वर्षांनी मोठी असलेली व्यक्ती आहे ज्याच्या हातावरच्या रेषा कुमारच्या हाताच्या रेषांशी तंतोतंत जुळतात याचा शोध कुमारला लागतो. याचा अर्थ सुदर्शनचा भूतकाळ म्हणजेच कुमारचा भविष्यकाळ असणार. याच आशेने कुमार त्या व्यक्तीचा शोध घ्यायला सुरवात करतो. कुमारला सुदर्शन भेटतो का? त्याला त्याचं भविष्य समजतं का? त्यात सुदर्शनने केलेल्या चुका कुमारला टाळता येतात का आणि शेवटी कुमार स्वतःच भविष्य बदलू शकतो का यावर आधारित ही कथा.
खरंतर 'समांतर' ही web series बघून पुस्तकाविषयी कळलं आणि वाचायला सुरवात केली. Web series च्या कथेत थोडे बदल केले आहेत, अजून दुसरा season आला नसला तरीही कथा वेगळी असल्याचे कळून येते. पण पुस्तक web series पेक्षा जास्त interesting वाटतं. web series मधे केलेल्या धक्का तंत्राच्या अति वापराने गोष्ट काल्पनिक आहे हे जाणवून येते पण पुस्तकातील घटना सर्वसाधारण माणसाच्या आयुष्यात घडू शकते हे जाणवल्यामुळे आपण त्यात जास्त गुंतत जातो. एकदा पुस्तक वाचायला सुरवात केली कि संपेपर्यंत खाली ठेववत नाही. भाषाशैली अप्रतिम आणि कथा शेवटपर्यंत उत्सुकता टिकवून ठेवते; पण अचानक झालेला शेवट वाचून काहीतरी अर्धवट राहिल्याची चुटपुट लागून जाते. काही प्रश्नांची उत्तरे मिळत नाहीत, त्यामुळे कदाचित शेवट सगळ्यांनाच आवडणार नाही, पण पुस्तक वाचताना वाढत असलेली उत्सुकता, आपलं त्यात गुंतत जाणं; या अनुभवासाठीतरी हे पुस्तक नक्कीच वाचायला हवे.

समांतर या कादंबरी वर मागच्या वर्षी मार्च २०२० मध्ये वेब सिरीज चां पहिला भाग MX Player या ॲप आणि वेबसाईट वर रिलिज झाला तेव्हा लोकांना ही वेब सिरीज प्रचंड आवडली होती. कोरोना व्हायरस मुळे निर्माण झालेल्या जागतिक महामारीचे फटके सर्वच क्षेत्राला बसले त्यात मनोरंजन क्षेत्र सुद्धा भरडले गेले. अतिशय आव्हानात्मक परिस्थितीत कलाकारांनी शूटिंग पूर्ण केले आहे आणि बहुतेक पुढील महिन्यात जून २०२१ मध्ये उरलेला अर्धा भाग सीझन २ रिलिज होईल.
एकूणच याचे प्रमुख श्रेय जाते ते या कादंबरीच्या सशक्त कथानकाला आणि कादंबरीचे लेखक सुहास शिरवळकर यांना.
प्रत्येकाच्या मनात सुप्तपणे वाटत असते की आपल्यासारखे शापित आयुष्य अजून कोणाचे नसेल. पण समजा असेलच तर ? नेमक्या याच कल्पनेवर आधारित समांतर ही कादंबरी आहे.
कुमार महाजन परिस्थितीला वैतागलेला. आणि अचानक त्याला समोर नजरेत येतो त्याचा भविष्यकाळ जाणून घेण्याची सुवर्णसंधी.
कोणीतरी असा मनुष्य आहे त्यांचेच आयुष्य कुमार महाजनला जगायचे आहे. मग शोध सुरू होतो त्या माणसाचा.... सुदर्शन चक्रपाणी चां.
सुदर्शन चक्रपाणी त्याने स्वतः लिहून ठेवलेल्या डायऱ्या पण कुमार महजनला देतो.
पण रोज उद्याचेच पान वाचायचे अशी त्याची अट असते.
पुढे काय होते ? एकदम थरार अनुभवायला तयार असाल तर वाचा समांतर कादंबरी.

ಸಮಾನಾಂತರ - ಮರಾಠಿ ಮೂಲ ಸುಹಾಸ ಶಿರವಳಕರ್ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಆರ್.ಶೇಷಗಿರಿ.
ಸಮಾಂತರ್ ಎಂಬ MX playerನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸರಣಿಯ ನೋಡಿ ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅದು ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಿತು. ಆ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುವಾದವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದರೂ ಅದರ ಪ್ರತಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಪ್ರೇಮಿ ಗ್ರೂಪಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಳೆಯರಾದ Sujeeth Kamath ಅವರ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ನೋಡಿ ಅವರ ಬಳಿಯಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಎರವಲು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಓದಿದೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಪುಸ್ತಕ. ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗೂ ಟಿವಿ ಸರಣಿಗೂ ಅಂತಹ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಹಸ್ತರೇಖೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಕತೆ. ಕುತೂಹಲಕ್ಕೆ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷಿ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಬಳಿ ಹಸ್ತ ತೋರಿಸುವ ಕತಾ ನಾಯಕನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಹಾಗೇ ಹಸ್ತರೇಖೆ ಇರುವ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವನು ಇವನಿಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡವ.ಅವನ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೇನೋ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೋ ಇವನಿಗೂ ಹಾಗೇ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಏನಾಗಬಹುದು? ಏನಾದರೂ ಉಪಯೋಗವಿದೆಯೇ ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ.
ಟಿವಿ ಸರಣಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಓದಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಸಮಾಂತರ್ ಎಂಬ MX playerನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸರಣಿಯ ನೋಡಿ ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅದು ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಿತು. ಆ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುವಾದವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದರೂ ಅದರ ಪ್ರತಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಪ್ರೇಮಿ ಗ್ರೂಪಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಳೆಯರಾದ Sujeeth Kamath ಅವರ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ನೋಡಿ ಅವರ ಬಳಿಯಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಎರವಲು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಓದಿದೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಪುಸ್ತಕ. ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗೂ ಟಿವಿ ಸರಣಿಗೂ ಅಂತಹ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಹಸ್ತರೇಖೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಕತೆ. ಕುತೂಹಲಕ್ಕೆ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷಿ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಬಳಿ ಹಸ್ತ ತೋರಿಸುವ ಕತಾ ನಾಯಕನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಹಾಗೇ ಹಸ್ತರೇಖೆ ಇರುವ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವನು ಇವನಿಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡವ.ಅವನ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೇನೋ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೋ ಇವನಿಗೂ ಹಾಗೇ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಏನಾಗಬಹುದು? ಏನಾದರೂ ಉಪಯೋಗವಿದೆಯೇ ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ.
ಟಿವಿ ಸರಣಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಓದಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಇಲ್ಲ.

समांतर ही वेब सिरीज आल्यामुळे सुहास शिरवळकर यांचे हे पुस्तक अचानक प्रकाशझोतात आले. पण मी सुहास शिरवळकर यांची जवळपास सर्व पुस्तके वाचली होती त्या वेळीच साधारण २० वर्षांपूर्वी मला समांतर या पुस्तकाने एक विलक्षण मोहिनी घातलेली होती. सुहास शिरवळकर यांच्या जाई या कादंबरी नंतर मला समांतर ही सर्वात जास्त आवडणारी कादंबरी आहे. केवळ थरारक आणि खिळवून ठेवणारी धक्यांमागुन धक्के देणारी कादंबरी म्हणजे समांतर एवढे नक्कीच सांगता येईल. कथानकावर फारसे काही सांगण्यासारखे नाही. तो प्रत्यक्ष वाचन अनुभव घेण्याची गोष्ट आहे. सामान्य आयुष्य जगत असलेल्या कुमार महाजन याला आपले आयुष्य दुसऱ्या कोणी जगून गेलेला सुदर्शन चक्रपाणी याच्या आणि त्याच्या हस्त रेषा सारख्या असल्याचे समजते. आणि स्वतःचा भविष्यकाळ चक्रपाणी अगोदरच जगून गेलेला आहे तेव्हा त्या सुदर्शन चक्रपाणी चा शोध घेऊन स्वतःचे भविष्य शोधण्याचा प्रयत्न कुमार महाजन कसा करतो? तो त्यात यशस्वी होतो का? खरेच दोघांचे आयुष्य एकसारखे असते का ? अशा सामान्य वाचकाच्या मनात उमटणाऱ्या प्रश्नांना पानोपानी हादरे देणारे पुस्तक म्हणजे समांतर. अवश्य वाचा.

मराठी मधे कल्पित साहित्य या प्रकारात एका वेगळ्या उंचीवर नेऊन ठेवलेली अशी ही कादंबरी.
सुहास शिरवळकरांच्या लेखणीतून उतरलेलं हे एक उत्तम कथानक.
भविष्य पाहण्यात विशेष रस नसणारा कुमार महाजन मित्राच्या सांगण्यावरून एका जोतिष्याला भेटतो, हा हात आपण पूर्वी पाहिलाय याच्या जाणीवेने ज्योतिषी त्याला भविष्य सांगायचं टाळतो. परिस्थितीपुढे हतबल असलेला कुमार त्रागा करून तिथून निघणार इतक्यात ज्योतिषी त्याला २५-३० वर्षांपूर्वी कोणी चक्रपाणी व्यक्तीचा हात कसा कुमारच्या हाताशी तंतोतंत मिळता जुळता आहे हे सांगतो.
तिथून चक्रपाणी चा शोध हेच एकमेव उद्दिष्ट ठेवून कुमार कामाला लागतो. बऱ्याच संकटाना तोंड देत एकदाचं चक्रपाणी ची भेट होते. दोघांच्या भूतकाळातील गोष्टींमधे किती साधर्म्य आहे हे जाणताच दोघे चाट पडतात.
चक्रपाणीचा भूतकाळ हे कुमारच भविष्य आहे.
दोन वेगळी माणसं पण हस्तरेषा सारख्या असल्याने समान आयुष्य जगत आहेत आणि त्यातल्या घटनांमध्येही कमालीचं साधर्म्य आहे.
असं समांतर आयुष्य जगणाऱ्या दोन व्यक्तींमधल्या आयुष्यातील चढउतार वाचनीय आहेत.
अगदी शेवटपर्यंत कथानक वाचकाला खिळवून ठेवते, भाषाशैली आणि मांडणी उत्कृष्ट असल्याने पुस्तक संपेपर्यंत खाली ठेवू नये वाटत. मध्यंतरी या पुस्तकावर आधारित जी वेबसेरीज आली त्यात बऱ्याच सुधारणा करून मांडणी केली आहे. तरीही पुस्तक उजवच ठरतं.

I chose to read this book after watching Samantar Web series. I read various review about this book before buying this book. All the views were of the opinion that,"Book is much more exciting than a web series". Today, I finally finished the book.
My observations:
1. Web series changed certain portions in order to make it more exciting
2. Book is good with main concept but not more than that, although it keeps you engaging
3. You kept on reading with the expectation of getting a shock in the end, but you end up getting a feeling of dullness.
4. Story becomes predictable and you get ideas about it in between. It falls flat in the end, felt he hurriedly ended it, he could have given some twists and turns, probably author lost energy in the end.
5. Since the web series did phenomenal job of making it more exciting, I would be expecting it to change certain portions in part 2 and make it more exciting.
Bottom Line:
1. Don't buy the book with the expectation of getting soemting really exciting
2. Wait for part 2 to stream on ott platform, that would save your money and time, there is also a possibility of getting something exciting than a book
3.Overall mediocre experience, so, don't get excited,keep quiet and wait for second season.

July 19, 2021I started Reading this book because I heard great things about the web series. I haven't watched the series yet so I don't know how similar or dissimilar plot is. Anyway, lets come back to book now.
book has a great premise two men who have same fate, one's past is one's future. what will one do when they find out about their future? this is the basic story line. Book starts off really great. I loved how from beginning writer kept us hooked throughout the novel. From the page one there seemed to be a lingering mystery. However, as we reach towards the end it seems bit rushed. Now let me clarify, ending was unexpected I definitely did not think that will happen but it did and that was a good shock. though from the second half of the book it seemed that writer is trying to wrap up things at the cost of the story. it just seemed bit rushed. otherwise it was really a great read. I don't ill be watching series or not but definitely will pick up Shirwalkar soon.

This will be my forever favorite.. I finished it in one sitting and plot twist was so so good...🤩..
Sudarshan Chakrapani and Kumar Mahajan have a same hands and hence the similar future.. Thier lives will go in parallel .What will future reveal for Kumar is the twist and one can not guess the end of the novel..
What I liked about this book is the lead character or the narrator is not the entire black or white,He is the protagonist who is very human.. He does not shy away from telling his quite not so good doings to the reader.

Amazingly written. There are only few books who donot have a hero as a protagonist. Samantar is one of them. It has a protagonist who just like us is a normal human with flaws.
And between those flaws is a story worth reading ...

कुमार महाजन आणि त्याच्याच समांतर आयुष्य असलेल्या चक्रपाणी नामक गृहस्थांची ही कथा आहे. दोघांच्याही आयुष्यात समान घटना घडत असतात. त्यामुळे वाचकाची उत्कंठा वाढत जाते व ती अखेरपर्यंत तशीच ठेवण्यात लेखकाने यश मिळवले आहे. कथेची बांधणी चांगली असली तरीही शेवट काय असेल याचा बराच अंदाज आपण लावू शकतो.

Most of the book is filled with the lots of mystery and suspense which make you read this book in the one go. Whole book based on the parallel life of two person and at the the end writer gave the best suspense which gave thrills to readers.

कादंबरी एका नवीन आणि रंजक कथानकावर आधारित आहे. पहिल्या प्रसंगापासूनच आपल्याला खेळवून ठेवते. कथा कुठे जाणार, काय होणार याची उत्सुकता सतत वाटत असते. शिरवळकरांनी अतिशय प्रभावीपणे हे साधलं आहे. शेवट एक फक्त घाईघाईत केला असं वाटलं. नाहीतर नक्कीच पंचतारांकित झाली असती.
