Ajeno: Sin Miedo libro uno

Rate this book

Yo corría y él me perseguía.

I am feeling quite conflicted about this one.

Stranger is the first book in the Fear Not series by Cecilia Campos. Since I hadn’t read any of her work before, I decided to give it a chance because the cover looked intriguing and a bit dark. The beginning of the book was okay, but then it took a turn that I wasn’t expecting. I enjoy dark-themed romance novels, but I'm not quite sure what I got with this one.

Angelina is still grieving her husband's death, even after several years, and she has refused to let him go. However, everything changes when a mysterious stranger enters her life. As her heart is breaking, she finally realises that it's time to say goodbye (time for the tissues, people) and decides to give it all up for this stranger who keeps her in the dark.

I appreciate a sexy, twisted, and unpredictable story, and this book certainly has those elements. However, I struggled to connect with the characters. Their dialogue felt almost childlike; the female main character seemed immature, while the stranger was curt and domineering, expecting her to follow him blindly without any answers.

Angelina finds herself caught between two worlds: one that is manipulative and otherworldly, and the other that represents reality. Then the ending happened…and it completely turned everything upside down.

The story concludes with a cliffhanger, leaving many questions unanswered. I want to know what happens next, so I’ll be reading the second book, Lover.

Angela is starting over after losing her husband. Living in her Uncle's cabin, with her dog she is finding her rhythm again. Angela ends up stumbling across a man lying in the woods and obviously injured. Doing the right thing she takes him back to her cabin to let him heal but she is conflicted by the secrecy surrounding him and the chemistry building between them. Not all is as it seems though and Angela doesn't want to let him go but so many questions swirl around them, can they survive what is coming?

I liked the idea of this but it is not what I was expecting. Had several twists and turns and I liked the way the two smoldered when together. Cliffhanger ending though, look forward to the next book.

Stranger: Fear Not, Book One by Stranger: Fear Not, Book One is one of those books that casually says, “Oh, you’re just reading?” and then proceeds to emotionally ambush you when you least expect it.
Cecilia Campos writes characters the way real people exist—complicated, guarded, a little broken, and carrying emotional baggage like it’s a designer carry-on. I didn’t just read about their struggles; I mentally pulled up a chair, poured a drink, and stayed for the long, messy conversation.
This isn’t a whirlwind, instalove situation. This is a slow, careful, “I don’t trust you but also please don’t leave” kind of connection. The kind that builds quietly until you realize you’re fully invested and judging fictional people’s life choices like they’re close friends.
The vulnerability in this book is chef’s kiss. The tender moments feel earned, the pain feels real, and the emotional growth is handled with care instead of clichés. By the end, I wasn’t flipping pages—I was emotionally negotiating with the book, hoping it wouldn’t hurt me again.
Spoiler: it did. And I loved it.

Angela's parents always told her that if they died, they would come after her, so Angela refused to let “them” find her. When her husband passes away, Angela moves into her uncle's mountain farm, which is pretty isolated from the rest of the world. No internet, no connection to the outside world except when she has to go into town for the market or groceries. Angela tries to leave no digital, traceable fingerprint. One day, while tending her garden, she notices something falling from the sky and smoke rising in the distance. Angela and her dog, Patrick, go to investigate; they find a strange-looking flying machine and a wounded man. Angela brings the man back to her farm, where he sleeps for a few days. When he finally awakens, he tells Angela his name is All. They don’t get off on the best foot. They pretty much can’t stand each other for the first few weeks. However, they do start to get along and become very close. So close that All actually has to leave because he fears he may put her in harm's way if she finds out who he really is. Yet, he cannot stay away for long. All eventually returns just two weeks later to the farm and offers Angela an opportunity. She could get a glimpse into his world, spend more time with him, or she could decide she never wants to see him again. But is she really up for all those changes? Is Angela truly prepared to learn the truth? You should definitely pick up this first book in the series to find out! This was my first book by this author, and I have to say I really fell in love with the storyline. I had to keep reading to find out what happens next! I already downloaded the next book in the series because I need to see where this story goes, especially after the cliffhanger at the end of the first book!! Definitely a must-read!

Stranger by Cecilia Campos

I was in the mood for some romance and thought this sounded interesting. The main female character Brooke lost her family when she was young and then her husband to cancer. Due to her parents warning that she may be in danger she decided to move to her uncles farm. One day when she was in her garden a plane crashed with a mysterious man in it. After nursing him to health, they become closer but he remains a stranger still.

This was a bit of bizarre romance but one that was just bizarre enough for me not to want to put it down and figure out what the heck was happening and who is this stranger. I still don’t know how to explain it…
I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to read something totally different in their romance novels. It’s definitely a 4 out of 5 star for me.

When Angie was young her parents always told her that if anything were to happen to them she was to run. Whoever was after them would come for her. If it looked like their passing was an accident assume it wasn't. But who was after them? Who was chasing her all this time? She has been very careful not to leave any kind of digital footprint. After her husband passed away from cancer she had been living off the grid in her uncle's cabin. The first trace of her in years happened because she cut her finger while gardening. Suddenly a mysterious stranger shows up after an accident with a fake name, All. Who is he? Is he one of the mysterious people after her? They spend a few weeks together and eventually become close. All abruptly leaves but returns weeks later offering to take her into his world...and his real name. He is different than she remembers, yet he is the same. Who is this man?

Stranger by Cecilia Campos is an interesting book. In a good way. Not my usual kind of book but still full of questions, mystery and danger. Angie loses her husband and moves from their ranch to stay at her uncle’s “cabin”. It is off grid, and she likes that as she is running from who she is not sure. She does good at staying off grid till she has to go to the hospital. Then a man is suddenly crashing her peace and quiet at the cabin. He leaves but another appears. They look alike and are a lot alike but are they the same man?? She gets to know the second man known as Aristotle and his family. When she finally meets….his twin. Dun dun dun….yes a great book that keeps you wondering. And keep wondering till you read the next book Lover.

From the beginning, this book draws me in and keep hold of my sanity till the very end. This book had a lot of feelings that I felt with creating tenson, deep emotional and even psychological themes. This book kept me wondering what was going to happen and I felt like I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. This is a slow burn but honestly that doesn’t bother me at all, I like the build up with some story and this fit in perfectly with what was going on. I wish there was more with Aristotle, he had this mystery and alluring feel to him, and I wanted to know more. This book really had me, and I can’t wait to dive headfirst into the next books.

Oh my goodness what did I just read ?! The Adonis that is in the cover nearly melted my kindle and he’s rather strange , delectable but strange , well the whole book is , gloriously strange 😉🥰

When I first started reading this book I was a blubbering mess , like as in snotfest deluxe , ange had lost her husband to cancer , she was mourning his loss living on a mountain farm with her garden , dog and goats and talking , having full conversations with her dead husband 💔🤷‍♀️

Life takes a turn when a stranger arrives on her doorstep and things heat up 🔥gone are my tears and I’m left wondering if aris is an slien , vampire or gif and I still don’t know because we ended on a cliffhanger ?! Like come on what’s that all about ?! I want answers !!! I’m left with more questions than I started with 🤷‍♀️😂🙈

Aris is definitely not “normal” he devours ange and I’m almost convinced he can read her mind ! This definitely was one of the strangest books I’ve ever read but it’s definitely one of my favourites and ill recommend it with a smile on my face even to my non quirky friends just to get a kick out of it 😂because who doesn’t want a little aris in their life 🤷‍♀️🥰😉

This is a new author to me and it took me a while to really get into the story. This story was kind of a surprise to me. The author does a great job of writing a story unlike most romance novels out there. The characters are easy enough to connect with and I love Angie’s inner dialogue and it definitely had me giggling a time or two. The storyline is well paced and interesting. I’m ready to read the next book. I’d give this four stars and recommend it to those looking for something interesting and different in a dark romance.

Stranger is book 1 of the "Fear Not" Duo by Cecilia Campos. I want to start right out the gate with, youre killing me with that twist, and THE CLIFFHANGER?? This book started slow for me, but once I got hooked I had to keep reading, because honestly this book left me with SO many questions, but at the same time gave me the perfect mix of mystery and suspense, with a LOT of extra spice! You'll think you'll know whats coming but you will definitely be surprised! I cant wait to dive into book 2!!

Stranger: Dark Romance with a twist (Fear Not Book 1) By Cecilia Campos is a new author for me. This book is a high-intensity and dark contemporary romance. It explores the thin line between fear and desire. I found the book to be beautifully written. I liked how Angelina was such a strong character. But with Ari I found I was a bit more confused about him, but not to the point that I didn’t enjoy the book. I did enjoy reading this book and I found it intriguing and a touch dark in the romance but in a good way.

This book is a trip. I couldn’t figure it out for a while. It was a roller coaster. I thought one thing and then I thought another then BAM…ALL gets a personality lobotomy and turns into Aristotle aka Aris…wtf. I got so turned around. But it intrigued me so much that I kept reading…so many plot twists that it kept me engaged. Can’t wait to read book two to see what happens next because it does end on a cliffhanger.

This story was just kinda strange for me. Is it supernatural or paranormal? What's really going on with the MMC? The MFC is inside her own head too much. This one unfortunately didn't hit the right note for me.

From the very first moment that the stranger entered Angelina's life, I was pulled into Stranger: Fear Not, Book One. This one immediately took me in with suspense, passion, and emotional tension. I loved how Cecilia Campos created this very slow burn that was filled with intensity and unexpected twists that kept the pages turning. The chemistry between the characters felt raw and compelling, and their connection was impossible to ignore. I also appreciated the emotional depth tied into the romance, which gave the story some real heft. The mystery kept me guessing and was an extra edge that made the story feel less predictable. By the conclusion, I was invested in the characters and excited to see where their next journey took them. A very promising beginning to the Fear Not series and left me wanting more.

Quick Summary: A twisted stranger romance

My Review: Stranger by Cecilia Campos is book #1 in the Fear Not series.

About the Book: "One day, a stranger appeared at my door... And, strangely enough, he knew my desires before I even recognized them myself... he claimed me as his own... I got lost in that game... But this adventure? Believe me, it grew wilder and stranger than I could ever have imagined."

In My Own Words: Love, loss, and unexplained secrets lead a solitary young woman into living a life off the grid. Hiding away from everything she has ever known, she soon finds herself as savior to a dark stranger with a vague account of who he is. Together, they unleash intensely passionate feelings in each other. Unfortunately, things are not what they seem and what might have been is interrupted by what truly is.

My First Reaction (at the end): 🤔🕸💬
My Second Reaction (after thinking about what's to come in book 2): 👍

My Final Say: This was an interesting story. I found it to be twisted, entertaining, and very much unpredictable, yet strangely predictable at the same time.

The beginning got my attention, then it became somewhat peculiar. The unsaid dominated, and suddenly, the "feral, animalistic" interactions took over.

The scene play in two particular scenarios mirrored Pretty Woman, as well as Pride and Prejudice. The wording was notably familiar.

This story lightly resembled A Midsummer Night's Dream. (I can't go further, but I would love to discuss that with other readers.)

I couldn't tell if this story was supernatural in the sense of angels, the pantheon, the undead, or what. The mention of famous, departed entertainers, the classic songs mixed with pop and hip-hop, the royalty angle, the otherworldly hints, the military forces oft mentioned, the presence of AI at critical moments, and other such things confused me; I was unable to tell where the story was going.

I did like the way the dark tones were presented. I could clearly tell the obvious antagonists. The main conflict, which became blatantly evident at the cliffhanger ending, was fantastic. That had a dark shadow element to it. Although I was not surprised, it still captured my interest and caused me to wonder why. (I won't say more than that, as I don't want to spoil anything for other readers.)

What was up with all of the nicknames? I got it, but I did not always care for it. It detracted after a point and I needed it to stop.

All in all, I would certainly read book two. The direction the story takes should prove to be riveting. I definitely want to know what happens next for Angelina.

Other: Potential readers are advised to refer to the author's notes to review content warnings.

Angelina “Angie” has had an interesting life. Her parents died when she was young. They told her to run and keep running from the dangers that hunt her. They never told her who or what those dangers were. Angie did get married. Then her husband died. Angie got so depressed that she headed off to her uncle’s cabin in the woods. The cabin was off the grid and she had no intentions of changing that.

One day, Angie was working in her garden and sliced her thumb. She went to the hospital. The first time Angie had left any kind of digital footprint in years. Then a strange thing happened at her cabin. A vehicle of some kind crashed. Angie found this man, hurt but not injured. She helped him back to her cabin and took care of him while he healed. Angie found herself very attracted to this man.

This man refused to give Angie any information about himself. Called himself All. They stopped fighting their attraction. Angie and All had a short, hot affair. Then he disappeared. One day he suddenly shows back up and wants to take her with him. Angie balks at first but then eventually agrees to go. When Angie is with him this time, he says his name is Aristotle. He is different but close to the same. Angie notices that he smells like mint instead of the usual toffee.

Aristotle takes her to a fancy yacht. Angie gets to meet most of Aristotle’s family. His brother is getting married. Angie is there for that. The family is super rich, flying all over the world in super, silent, secret helicopters, shopping sprees in Paris, underwater parties, weddings in mountains rich. While Angie is enjoying the lifestyle, she notices the differences in the man that has brought her to his life, his world. One minute he is kind, the next domineering. Angie can’t figure it out until the day of Aristotle's brother’s wedding when she finally gets to see the brother. Aristotle’s identical twin brother.

I guess we will have to wait for Lover to figure out how she handles this situation. Great story. I am sure there are many more secrets to come out. Is Aristotle’s family the ones Angie’s parents were running from? Did he find her because she went to the hospital? How will she react to twins? Lots of questions!! Looking forward to Lover!

Years after her spouse passes away, Angelina is still mourning and depressed. Her neighbor tries to help by giving her a dog who needs to go out on long walks or her uses her furniture as chew toys. The dog, Patrick makes her see things a little better and because of that she decides to move away from the memories of the one she lost and build a new life at her uncle's cottage in the mountains that she inherited. After being there for a couple of years and finding her strength to make it on her own, she hears something crash near her property and goes to check it out.

She comes across a man in a flying car who seems to have crashed in the trees. He's hurt so she takes him back to her home when he asks her not to call for help or take him to the hospital. Once he wakes up and recovers, she describes him as the most handsome man she's ever seen but he tells her his name is All (Later known as Aris) as in All Knowing. He's weird and kind of rude to her. Their banter seems childish at best.

She talks to her dead husband all the time and he seems to talk back to her in her head but one night she sees him and he tells her that it's time for him to move on. It was sad and brought tears to my eyes.

Things between Aris and Angelina change when she thinks that he can read her thoughts and he knows that she's very attracted to him. Aris tells her that he's not sure he can control himself around her and she is ok with that. So when he tells her to "Run", it's on! He chases her, catches her and they are intimate. The sex scenes in this book are wild and sexy.

He asks her to come with him but can't tell her anything about his life or who he really is. And she has to leave her dog, farm, and animals behind with one of his friends. She can't take her dog? That right there would have been a no from me. You expect someone you've only known for a short time to drop everything and everyone in their life to be with you and you won't even tell them anything about your life? Big red flags, so many red flags.

When I read the description of this book I thought I was getting a dark romance of sorts but that's not at all what I got. We don't get any real questions answered about who or what Aris is and why Angelina can't be told. The twist at the end of this book just made me mad for her. Plus this ends on a cliffhanger and that made me mad.

Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Angelina, still reeling from the loss of her husband and living off the grid, is disturbed one day by the appearance of a stranger in a fancy suit and cowboy boots. He is unlike anyone Angelina has met before, and why does he seem to know her desires before even she does?

I don’t normally go for dark romances, and this definitely confirmed why I don’t. This really wasn’t for me at all. I did think that the premise could be maybe a little interesting and mysterious, but I really prefer any romance I read to have more soft, fluffy moments. Angelina is an okay character, and I really felt for her, especially with the whole dealing with her husband's death. I thought Campos wrote these moments really well; they really made my heart ache. However, I struggled to connect with her, as her dialogue sometimes felt a little childish, and her reactions to certain things were, in my opinion, a little bizarre. I really didn’t like Aris very much at all. I found some of the ways he treated and spoke to Angelina a bit creepy. The twist at the end also really frustrated me, as well. I definitely thought Angelina should have been way more upset and annoyed than she actually was.

I will say, though, that if you’re looking for a dark, steamy romance, with plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing and supernatural elements, then this is the book for you. I will say that you will probably have a lot of questions at the end of this, but this is the first book in the series, so I imagine all will be answered in time.

Stranger by is an atmospheric and emotionally charged read that leans heavily into mystery and mood. From the beginning, there’s a sense of unease that draws you in and keeps you curious about where the story is headed.
The author does a great job building tension and creating a haunting tone throughout the book. The writing is immersive, and the story clearly aims to explore deeper emotional and psychological themes. While I appreciated the slow-burn approach, I did find myself occasionally frustrated with the main female character. Her emotional outbursts felt a bit repetitive at times, which made it harder for me to fully connect with her journey. That said, I understand this may resonate differently with other readers.
One aspect I struggled with was the lingering mystery surrounding Aristotle. Even by the end of the book, we’re still left without a clear understanding of what Aristotle actually is, which felt a bit confusing and left me wanting more clarity. I’m hoping this is something that will be explored more fully in book two.
Overall, Stranger is an intriguing start to a series with a strong atmosphere and an interesting premise. While it wasn’t a perfect fit for me, I’m still curious to see how the story develops and am hopeful that the second book will build on this foundation and answer some of the lingering questions.

This is book one in the Fear Not duet. It is a slow start but a hot burning with a slight twisted edge kind of read. I am not sure how to describe this genre, not exactly a mystery but not a sweet sunshine romance. But definitely a worthwhile read.

Aris and Angie. Both of these characters go by several different names. It is almost hard keeping track of who is who. Once you realize Angelina and Angie and Angel are the same person as Little One and that All, Aris and Aristotle are the same as Handsomling, you realize that these two are the main characters and nothing and no one else really matters.

Angie is a loner, but only because she is hiding from an unknown fear created by her long dead parents. Ari is a secret, an enigma. He shows up out of nowhere, he answers questions with questions or with short one word answers. However there is something brewing between the two. Something super hot, a little twisted and oh so good.

While getting to know each other better in Aris’ world, on his yacht, with his family, and all their money, things seem good but not twisted and hot. Things change but change is good right?

The end of the book, which is not the end of this story, has a little twist which creates a whole situation for Angie. It causes her to change her mind about Aris and then another twist ends the book with a cliff hanger and many questions. Looking forward to reading the next book!

Stranger (Fear Not #1) by Cecilia Campos

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Stranger is the first book in the Fear Not Series. I was taken away with the location of the book and how everything started. The writing had me hooked from the get go and I will definitely be looking for the other books in the series. I think you will like Aris and Angie’s story because I sure did.

Angie is mourning the loss of her husband and after a neighbor gives her a puppy she leaves town. She goes to her Uncle’s cabin, if you can call it that, because she couldn’t do the town anymore. Not with everyone giving her their pity stares. Isolation is better for her, or at least that’s what she tells herself. She goes on “vacation” with Aris and tells him this on her last night: “Will you be here when I wake up in the morning?”

Aris shows up out of the blue when he falls out of the sky. Angie helps him and he falls for her. Then he disappears without saying goodbye in person. Two weeks go by and he reappears out of nowhere. He asks her to come back with him and hands her a phone. Telling her to think about it and call when she's ready. He tells her this the night before his brother's wedding: “All those things may be expensive, yet they hold absolutely no real value. What truly matters is you.”

Stranger: Fear not book one by Cecilia Campos.
4 of 5 Stars.
This is definitely a dark romance with a twist and one which kept me hooked throughout. Angelina is still mourning the loss of her husband when a stranger appears at her door. This man is an enigma with dark hair and darker eyes, handsome, rough, but dressed expensively. Angelina gets caught up in a game of cat and mouse with Aris, but discovers a new side to herself when she likes being the hunted. Aris seems to know what she desires before she does and Angelina becomes captivated by this mysterious and dangerous stranger. As he claims her as his own, she gets lost in the game, always feeling safe in his strong arms. However, for Angelina her adventure was about to get even wilder and stranger than she could have imagined. The chemistry between Angelina and Aris sizzles off the page and leads to some rather steamy scenes. I was taken on an emotional roller coaster of a ride with the different emotions Angelina goes through, especially as she’s grieving at the beginning of the story. The storyline left me feeling confused, as a reader you don’t know who or what Aris is, as he has an otherworldly air about him. As the story ended on a cliffhanger I am still in the dark to his identity. I’m now waiting impatiently for book two!

Stranger: Dark Romance with a twist (Fear Not Book 1)
By Cecilia Campos
OK so Cecilia is a new author for me so really was not sure what to expect from this book. Let us start with the cover. Not sure what to make of it, one look and this man’s eyes are so consuming, they suck you right in then another look to me he looks a bit crazy. But does he look interesting well yes, he does. Ok now on to the book itself. I found the book to be beautifully written, while Angelina was in a period of mourning, I did like her character strength. Ari well his character is confusing, he is a mixture of being dangerous and being a gentle kind soul. Even by the end of the book I was not sure on him. Angelina how ever loved her character. So anyway, background info Angelina lost her parents and before they passed, they told her basically if they die, “they” will be co ming after you. Then her husband dies who she still loves to this day and can not stop mourning him. So, moves to her uncle’s cabin in the woods with her dog that was given to her by her neighbour. How would I describe this book? Well, its strangely intriguing, could be a little but dark in the romance area but not enough to want you to stop reading it. Will you like the book I think you will. So, grab a coffee and settle down to read this book.

Angelica is still in a place of grief, her husband has past away but it still hurts and she has hidden herself away at the farm, until one day a stranger comes into her life and her world is turned upside down.

Aris crashes near the property of Angelica and while he is a stranger in the eyes of her, something inside her releases feelings she has not discovered in years since her husband, so although she wants to grieve, she also now needs to let go of the pain and the heartache and go into something new although he seems to keep her in the dark.

This is a new author to me and it is always good to get to see into the mind of the author and the story to develop. I did over all enjoy the story but I felt a little lost sometimes within the drive of the internal conversations and moving the story forward. I understand the overall effect of the story and it is a sexy unpredictable story but I just felt overall the story did not flow. I had a hard time getting to relate to the main characters and could not really invest into the story as it took a twist I was not really expecting.

Although the book finishes on a cliff-hanger and although this did not quite hit the spot I need to know what happens in book two.

This is the first book in the Fear Not Duet. This is the first book I have read by this author and I am so pleased I gave it a chance. This is a romance with so many twists and turns that kept me guessing and it was a unique story. There are elements of sci-fi and paranormal as well as danger, secrets, mysteries and so much more. This book does end on a cliff hanger and I can't wait to dive into the next book.

Angela has always been on the run. From being a young child her parents told her to disappear before "they" find her and as she has grown she has always been looking over her shoulder..
After the death of her husband she moves to her uncles cottage in the middle of nowhere and completely off grid and slowly over time she feels like she is losing her mind with only her dog and the voice of her husband for company.
That is until one day and accident happens near her home and a handsome stranger appears injured. Where did he come from? Who is he? Why is he in such a remote area? Is he a danger? What is his story? Angela has so many questions as she takes care of him. As they start to get close Angela realises that this man is keeping secrets of his own. Secrets that could mean danger for her if he doesn't leave.
I was gripped and I can't wait for the next book
