i finished this last night but it was already past like, 12am and i was all snuggled up in bed- warm, so i didn’t bother getting up.. ANYWAY.. this wasn’t my favorite in the series so far. BUT my library doesn’t even have the last 2 in their database 😞😞, who knows when i’m going to get to read them 😓, i just have to be patient. ok, so in the previous volume we see Otogi confess to ‘Ikkuku’ and oml guys, it ended on a bit of a tangent with this new-ish love interest?? It’s a love triangle (😔) but guys LIKE I SAID I CANT GET THE 4th TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS 💔💔💔 happy reading all 🩷
I am very taken aback by how much I LOVED this volume! I mean, considering I DID buy the physical volume, I was hoping so, but I don't know. This volume had such a shift compared to the first two volumes that it's easily one of my favorite volumes I've read this month!
I have mentioned before that I really didn't like Otogi in the beginning and found I didn't want to read more of this series because of her. However, at the end of volume two, seeing her bare her heart really affected me in that I WANTED to know more about her. I feel that continued to be true in this volume because there were so many times she was her real self.
I don't feel shoujo manga hides characters' inner emotions, but I wouldn't say they are quite as open as they are in this volume either, and I found that surprisingly refreshing. Every time someone asked Otogi about why she's not embarrassed by sharing her romantic feelings with her crush (or to someone else about her crush), she comes back (showing no fear or embarrassment, if I might add) in saying why should she be. Even when she sees Toki acting embarrassed from her words of "affection," she tells him to get used to it, and I found that very awe-inspiring.
I would also say it's interesting to see Toki, the male lead, "deal" with Otogi's feelings for him. I feel like we are having gender reverse roles of the girl confessing first and the guy working through her feelings. Toki was incredibly earnest this volume, and I appreciated him sharing how he felt lost and unsure of what to do. His apologies were heartfelt, and I found myself cheering for him all the more!
However, this volume gave me some serious male-lead syndrome because the Angel nicknamer is SO cute! I love everything about him! Well, at least so far, because I have no doubts he is going to cause problems later on, but for now, he's a cutie that I enjoy seeing on page! I did have to laugh at how taken aback he was, though, of his nickname for Otogi being on point. LOL! Why did you give her the nickname otherwise?! LOL!
Overall, this was an excellent read, and I never expected to add volume four to my list of titles I MUST preorder! I'm excited to see what developments come from everything that happened in this volume!
I just changed my rating to 5/5!!!! i was thinking about them the whole DAAYYYYYY!!! Unfortunately i don’t have the next volume i am about to explode but i can’t wait to continue soooo cutree the ending uughh
I’m going to keep reading this series just because I love the art so freaking much. It is crisp and strong in all the right ways and the level of detail is just right, possibly sumptuous at points.
And the story makes some alterations this volume that may not exactly turn it into a banger, but definitely tweak the needle of my interest more than the first couple did.
What changed? Well, confession is in session as Otogi has realized she has caught feelings for Ninomae. And boy does she not waste any time and I love it. She just runs head first into this; it’s the second case of this I’ve read lately and it worked well both times.
The problem with running head first is that you might not notice the wall in front of you and Ninomae, secret side or no, doesn’t have a clue about being in love. This leads a previously perfect team to the awkward state of having to navigate a friendship that somebody wants more from.
I mean, it’ll probably work out in the end, but this gives an actual entry point for the No Hope Rival, since he isn’t technically a rival, and gives our leads some grist for the emotional mill.
And, yes, facades aside, these are teenagers and that means dumb and that means Ninomae, in trying to do right by Otogi, makes things so utterly complicated and messy that it nearly breaks her.
What’s nice here is that they really set up a leaden scenario that would see things between Otogi and Ninomae deteriorate even further and then side step it (well, push it forward anyways) by having a discussion and a meeting. Approved.
It isn’t the best ever - there’s still far too little split between their school selves and true selves, for one thing. This is one case where a little extra over the top would probably help delineate the sides more sharply.
Still, it actually goes somewhere this time out and, judging by the last panels, it’s going to firmly accelerate into all-out war by the time next volume arrives. I’ll take that as a bit of a win.
3 stars - I’m so close to nudging this a little higher, but there’s not enough work done with the premise and, divorced from that, even changing things up can’t break it completely from just being an example of something I’ve read a lot of before.
man to be a teenager and getting used to being in love with someone you think you have no chances with... didn't realise i finished this volime awhile ago? ahahaha. Ninomae feelings realisation finally!!
I really like the art style but this series just isn't for me. So, I won't be continuing it anymore. I'm just not a huge fan of the characters and how self-absorbed they are...it's so weird to me
GOD I love Otogi as a protagonist so, so much. I love her confidence and her brashness, the way she's so unapologetic about her own feelings and her own self esteem. I can't help but root for her completely. I actually genuinely admire her for how upfront she always is, and I love the way she and Ikkoku are such honest communicators. This was a nice volume!
This one really struck a note with me. I understand them perfectly. It's so strange but awe-inspiring to have your thoughts be put to paper like this. Like, I'm not alone in this.
A straightforward, brutally honest FL? An early confession and open but not overbearing pursuit from the FL? Communication and problem resolution between the two MCs? A sly but actually wholesome 2nd ML? Hell yeah, sign me up! I don’t like love triangles that much, but as long as they aren’t angsty, they can be well done and add depth and character growth.
Toki is already regretting his life choices by the end, it seems. I’m rather shocked he didn’t realize he had feelings for her earlier, but I guess he’s too pure hearted. Now he’s got competition, and I have the feeling his mask will not stay on through it.

I debated a lot on whether I should rate this 4.75 stars or a full 5 stars. But I really think this volume was very real? Like Ninomae might know this but bro is DOWN BAD. And I thought it was so sweet how he waited FOUR hours for her to respond to him, AND SHE DIDN'T RESPOND BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T BRING HER PHONE. Firstly, in modern society, who doesn't BRING THEIR PHONE EVERYWHERE? I was feeling a range of emotions these past two volumes and I think that the story has really picked up which I'm so happy about! I thought it was so admirable of her to be so honest and straightforward with her feelings as I think it's a really hard thing to do honestly. But i do agree with her, liking someone is nothing to be embarrassed about. HOWEVER, I do agree, Otogi was a little off-putting with how often she made he feelings known to him. But I also love how considerate Ninomae is of Otogi, like when he saw how how sad she was in literally the reflection of the karaoke mirror, like damn man. And I think its completely valid of him to unconsciously hide his 'true self' from her. One thing I do like about this manga is that the communication is very clear and SO FAR has always been solved within a volume which I really liked. What I do have complicated feelings about is the second male lead (eventually will be the second male lead I suppose) like girl, be so for real right now, your reason for wanting to be friends with Otogi is because all the girls u talk to immediately fall for u and u wanna have a gal pal? UM OKAY SURE. It's like I wanna hate him so bad because I can just FEEL how messy its gonna get because of him But....he's too nice for me to hate. Like him spending all his time writing and preparing prompts down for them to know each other better? OH HELL NAH HE'S MORE ROMANTIC THAN U NINOMAE. GO GET YOUR GIRL OMG. But in all seriousness, that's actually so sweet. I do love how Otogi KNOWS she's pretty like that's actually so refreshing. I do feel comforted by the fact that she was so excited to spend time with Ninomae that she totally forgot about the second male lead and telling him about the guy. I just hope they get together soon like please, I'm just a girl....don't drag this out.

Confident in her feelings for Toki, Otogi bravely confesses that she likes him. But is Toki ready for that? Will it change their friendship.
So freaking wholesome. So darn cute. Both of these characters are wildly mature for high school freshmen, which is exceptionally refreshing. While I sense shenanigans on the horizon, I have to take a moment to applaud how open and communicative they've been with each other, even as their friendship evolves into something they're not quite sure they can describe. We've all gotten so used to miscommunication causing so many issues in the romance genre that having a healthy dialogue feels shocking. Love it!
fall in love you false angels vol. 3 was a pleasant surprise as i found it more enjoyable than vol. 2! as always i found the art style to be absolutely stunning! i liked otogi’s and toki’s communication in this series which is really refreshing to see that there were no misunderstandings and mental games when dealing with their emotions for each other. i also really enjoyed getting to know futagami! and that ending! i can feel above triangle about to start and love triangles are my guilty pleasure lol.
