Ok, let's be serious for a minute. Mia Sheridan and Colleen Hoover are exactly the same person and you cannot convince me otherwise. Their writing styles are eerily similar. I'd even dare say Colleen Hoover is better at thrillers than Mia is, after having read Verity.
That didn't deter me from finishing this book however. As much as I don't LOVE Colleen Hoover, I am also not a chronically online mentally ill internet person who needs to burn down Colleen Hoover's house and destroy her career and everything she owns or get out my pitchforks. Because, you know, common sense, she is just another author with a very basic, easy to ready writing style and I actually have a life and don't care that deeply about author drama anymore.
So here are the pros:
>very easy to read
>not a lot of thinking required
> there is a romance happening as a sub plot and I love romantic thrillers
aaaand here are all the cons:
> Mia Sheridan treats you like you are fucking stupid as a reader, holds your hand throughout everything, over explains every tiny detail and does not allow you to be caught by surprise by absolutely anything.
> she kisses her FMC's ass: when looking for a missing kid the FMC receives access to the camera that is in the room with said kid by a mysterious entity, and she has the idea of screen shotting the window in the background of the room the kid was being kept in, and the romantic interest goes: WOW YOU SHOULD BE IN THE MILITARY YOU ARE SO GOOD AT THIS
Bitch, seriously? Because she thought to SCREENSHOT THE ONLY WINDOW IN THE ROOM to have a better look at it? lmao get the fuck out of here
> that brings me to: every thing that happens in this novel is way too convenient and hard to believe, it was almost like watching a spanish telenovela from how ridiculous certain things were
> the female main character was repetitive, the writing was repetitive, I did not feel that much chemistry between the two leads because they just kissed each other's ass the entire time so none of it felt natural. "wow ur soooo good sooo smart so amazing u should be in the military" "wowwww im so grateful so so so grateful for u". Sorry, I can't with it.
And my final pet peeve, the female main character owns a BUTTERFLY FARM. A FUCKING BUTTERFLY FARM, and that's what got me thinking of Colleen Hoover and putting her female main characters in the dumbest fucking business ventures alive. Flowershop, butterfly farm, c'mon. Give me at least an OUNCE of personality if you have any.
And then, at the end, to put the final cherry on this cake, the main characters don't communicate with each other at all once the MMC moves back to Colorado where he is from and she stays behind in another state. And everyone quits their jobs at the same time and GIGGLE ABOUT it when they finally meet back up and say: OOPS! I was about to go meet up with you too! I also love you! hihihih it's no big deal that we are BOTH UNEMPLOYED NOW BECAUSE WE COULD NOT PICK UP A FUCKING PHONE AND HAVE A CONVERSATION, WHEN JUST A MONTH AGO WE LITERALLY SAVED A FUCKING CHILD FROM CAPTIVITY USING TECHNOLOGY.

In this fucking economy??????????? No way. Get out of here.
So yeah, I see how hard she tried, but this one was... hard to swallow lol but I'd maybe try other books from her since they are so easy to read.
