Rejected Alpha Claims #4

The Alpha’s Chains

Rate this book
Have you ever heard of sins of the father?

Yes, I was once a noble princess, but now I am a humble slave. Because I'm paying for my damn father's guilt.
But my suffering often goes beyond that. Suddenly one day the Alpha asked me to be his Luna. That’s ridiculous. Would he fall in love with the daughter of his enemy?

Yes, the truth is that he was afraid that my power would harm his pack. I'm just a tool he uses to maintain peace and stability.

I had to admit he was fatally attracted to me. I wish we could live in peace, but he doesn't seem to want to make my desire come true.

It’s always raining when I open my eyes. We see the monsters inside each other, but the reality is you can never warm a heart that beats so low.

The hatred between us is an unbridgeable barrier, and who knows where our relationship will end up.

Lena and Kael’s Journey . . .

** 4.5 Stars **
Darek, a Hunter, was torturing Alpha shifter Kael, having fed him wolfsbane to keep him weakened and unable to fight back while he pushed a silver knife into his side just far enough to cause pain but not kill him. Their intention was to wipe out the shifters completely. Now Kael feels he has failed his pack when he couldn’t stop the Hunters. Another Hunter mentioned that Theron should also be wiped out… he was the traitor who sold Kael’s pack to these Hunters -- but they would not escape either. And Darek continued torturing Kael, aware he could not even shift to heal himself. And the worst was yet to come...

More than 5 years later, Lena watched her father Theron on his knees; she was terrified of Alpha Kael and the stories she heard about him. She knew her father had told Kael’s pack to Hunters, but she tried to be different and right his wrongs. But here she was, kneeling an chained, able to do nothing. When her father finally went to far with his insults, Kael ripped out his throat. Lena felt a burden lifted, then nothing. A warrior asked Kael if he wanted her thrown in the dungeon and he glared at her like she was a debt long overdue. But she pleaded for the life of the pack members who were not at fault for her father’s betrayal. When Kael finally was ready to decide the fate of his captives, he spared their lives but did not make them part of his pack. They deserved nothing from him, not even mercy. But Lena would become his personal slave. He says he wants to make her suffer, but will he? And when she listens in on a conversation he and Vivienne are having as Vivienne is pushing him to marry him now, he tells Lena she will be punished. She doesn’t beg or try to talk him out of it. She is ready to face it and doesn’t pull away, behind the fear is a resolve that hasn't shattered, despite his threat to break her… so he kisses her to humiliate… and instead he is the one who loses control as he deepens the kiss. And when he ends the kiss, she slaps him across the face! As he angrily faces him, his wolf, for the first time in many years, spoke to him… Mine! He thought his wolf was gone forever. Is there hope that he still exists? Is there hope that he can find a future with his mate?

The Alpha’s Chains hit every one of my weak spots—an outcast heroine burdened by her father’s sins, a ruthless Alpha who sees her as nothing more than a tool, and a romance so tangled in hatred and desire that it practically burns off the page. Krista Lark delivers a story that is raw, emotional, and impossible to put down.
From the start, I was drawn to the heroine’s resilience. Once a princess, now a slave, she’s been stripped of everything, yet she refuses to break. Her pain isn’t just physical—it’s the weight of betrayal, of being used, of knowing she’ll never be free. And then there’s him. The Alpha. The enemy. The man who offers her the position of Luna not out of love, but out of necessity. It’s a power play, a cage with golden bars. And yet… the way he looks at her? The way he can’t stay away, even when it goes against everything he stands for? I felt every ounce of tension between them.
This book delivers the kind of enemies-to-lovers dynamic I crave—where the lines between hatred and obsession blur, where two broken souls recognize the darkness in each other. Their chemistry crackles with unspoken emotions, and every interaction is filled with a push and pull that had me on edge. It’s not an easy romance—it’s painful, messy, and intensely satisfying.
The Alpha’s Chains will own you from the first page. It’s the kind of book that lingers, the kind that makes you question whether love can ever grow from the ashes of hatred. And honestly? I’d read it all over again just to feel that tension build one more time.

The Alpha’s Chain is the story of Lena and Kael. In the beginning of this book, I absolutely did NOT agree with what Kael was doing to Lena and the rest of her pack. I could understand his hatred towards Lena’s father, however, I felt that he shouldn’t have put his hatred on those who were innocent and didn’t know what Lena’s father had done. The entire time Kael disrespected and hurt Lena, I began to despise him. However, as their story progressed I began to like him. Eventually I fell in love with Kael and how he changed for the better. The Alpha’s Chain is fabulously written, well balanced and beautifully executed by Krista Lark. Krista Lark has created another phenomenal shifter romance that had me on the edge of my seat. I would most definitely recommend this book for anyone to checkout and give it a read. I can’t wait to see what Krista Lark will come up with for her next book. The Alpha’s Chain is quite suspenseful and a page turning wolf shifter romance. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. The chemistry between Lena and Kael is absolutely stunning and breathtaking.

She's fighting for her life just like the rest of her pack.
She may have been raised with the title of princess, but it means nothing when the Alpha is so self centred.
When he's finally knocked off his perch, she's made to suffer even more for his injustices.
But then the truth of her lineage comes out and thing's change, but not for the better when others are working in the background to take her place.
I'm surprised she manages to remain so level headed when all of this falls apart.
She shows she's much more than they thought.

As a dark yet hopeful story, the details of the pain and fear are well written. The details let the reader feel the strikes, heat, fear, and emotional damage that love tries to emerge from.
