It's release day!

Delilah and her brothers have been living in my head since I was their age. I'm so excited I'm finally able to introduce them to everybody else. Keep them company for me, okay? I need to work on their next case.

If you enjoy YA paranormal mysteries with horror and thriller elements, please consider reading Clairvoyant. You'll find unsolved mysteries, creepy atmospheres, psychic visions, and some truly lovable characters.

Another book by Samantha Alis added to my list of favorites!

Doing my best not to spoil too much; Clairvoyant is extremely captivating, emotional and suspenseful! I could not put it down and read almost the entire book in one day.
Delilah other known as “lilah” has such a scary yet beautiful ability to see and tap into the mystery and experience of another’s moments right before their lives were tragically taken.

Every single vision had me hooked, emotional, scared, wanting to know more, had me questioning along with the character why these things had happened and wanting so so badly to solve these cases with Lilah!

Samantha did an amazing job at transitioning into those visions and really putting the reader into Lilah’s shoes; her own fear, sadness, anger, dread, guilt, hope and more, then so perfectly guiding the reader out of the vision with Lilah. That is something I will always appreciate and love about Samantha’s writing; is her ability to pull the reader into the story; giving the reader such a clear picture of everything happening.
This one will definitely keep you on your toes!

I also wanted to mention how much I loved the relationship Delilah has with her brothers. You can really feel the love and support they have for her throughout the entire book and I thought that dynamic was written so beautifully :)

I am so happy I chose this book to be my first read of the spooky season, it has really set the standards and paved the way for the rest of my TBR this fall :)
Thank you Samantha for blessing us with your creativity! I look forward to adding more and more of your books onto my shelves in the future!🫶

The second I started this book I knew it was going to be quite the ride. This book does not wait to show you how intense the visions are and how much it affects Delilah. The way those visions are handled in this book are so well written that I could imagine how it would feel to have one started and honestly, I am glad I don't have that kind of ability.

The place where this book shines the most, in my opinion, is the characters. All of them have such a distinct personality that make you able to care about what will happen to them. Even characters who show up only for a few pages manage, in that time, to make you understand who they are. From the start, the brother John was my favorite character by far. His personality, humor, attitude and reaction to everything going on just felt natural to me in a way that I could connect with him the most.

I did really enjoy this book, and this was a great way to start Spooky October.

4.5 stars.

I think I may have enjoyed this one even a little more than the author's last book, The Montgomery Estate, which I also really liked. The story is solid, the characters relatable and realistic. It's a bit too serious to classify as a romp, landing instead in the territory of being a heartfelt, moving, family drama meets murder mystery, meets horrifying psychic visions of murder. It made me tear up at least once, and truly angry at the deaths of these girls, the murders of whom our main character, Delilah, has visions of and ends up trying to solve.

The mystery is well done, although I saw a few things coming well before the characters did, but thank god none of the characters have to carry the idiot ball in order to make the plot work. Everyone's motivations make sense, even when you're not quite sure what they are at first. The story is incredibly engaging and moves quickly; I finished it in about three sittings, the last of which I blew through the last 50% of the book all at once.

I did have a few grammatical nitpicks and ran into a couple of inconsistencies, as I did with the author's previous book - "and I" when it should be "and me"; using "further" even when talking about distance; "who's" when it should be "whose"; "phased" instead of "fazed." At one point the siblings are driven to a gala at the town hall in their father's car, but then they leave in the "oldest" brother's (the three siblings are triplets) truck. At the beginning of the book, I thought the siblings are twenty years old - Delilah tells us they first went into the funhouse at the fair when they were ten, and this is the first time in ten years that she's been back in - and then later on we're told that they're teenagers in high school. The grammatical errors happen often enough to be distracting as hell, but I was invested enough in the story that they didn't really detract from my enjoyment. Another editorial pass could have fixed them easily enough. (An editor *is* credited in the book, and I don't want to speak ill of them or anything, but . . . these same basic errors were missed in two books in a row.)

Anyway, if you enjoy YA mystery/thrillers with heartfelt, difficult family dynamics and realistic characters that you really feel something for, please read this book! There's also possible neurodivergent rep? It's never stated outright, but Delilah and John in particular really pinged as autistic-coded to me. Hopefully not just wishful thinking on my part!

Thank you to Samantha Alis and BookFunnel for the ARC.

Clairvoyant is the perfect book to pick up for spooky season!

The main character is a teen girl named Delilah who has visions of murders and tries to solve the case. At the start of the book she tries to throw in the towel, but something gets her back into investigating.

The author does such an amazing job of showing the dark side of this sort of power the protagonist struggles with. As you can imagine it’s not easy being bombarded with serial killer visions, and it shows. Still Delilah is a very strong girl who wants to make the most of the predicament.

Something I loved in the book was the relationship with the female lead’s triplet brothers. They are so unique and distinct, but support her in their own ways. Their relationship was heartwarming. Additionally, her complex relationship with her father is one that I’m certain a lot of people could relate to.

Some strengths of the book are the eerie mood created by unsettling imagery, the pacing, and the way the main character subtly slips into visions.

Overall, loved it! And would recommend.

I really enjoyed Samantha's first book, and was one of the first that I read when I started up my review service. So I knew this was going to be good.

And boy was it.

The book starts dark. And I mean really dark, so if you're squeamish then you might wanna pace yourself. The characters were really well written and I instantly felt like they were going to be a new kind of Scooby gang.

I liked the fact that each sibling had their own quirks, John in particular.

I'm also not sure if this was deliberate but naming the boys John and Conner made me smile even if the reference wasn't on purpose.

Overall I loved this book and cannot wait to see what Samantha writes next.

A dark mystery with twists you’ll never see coming

This book was as enjoyable as it was twisty and spooky. With relatable characters and a bone-chilling mystery at heart, Clairvoyant delivers on the thrills. Delilah’s flashbacks provide such creepy immersion into the story, and they do not shy away from the gruesome nature of the mystery she’s investigating. I felt and experienced everything Delilah did.

One of my favorite parts of the story, other than unraveling the mystery, was the relationships between Delilah and her brothers, Conner and John. The bond between them jumps off the page. They might butt heads or disagree on things, but they always have each other’s backs. I related a lot to John and his straight-forward, no-nonsense approach to the investigation. He also provided some great one-liners and helped lighten the mood.

So this is a mystery at heart, and CLAIRVOYANT had twists that I never saw coming. Each piece of evidence Delilah collects from her visions sheds a smidgen of light on who could be behind the bad acts, and I routinely guessed the wrong person. I never thought the bad guys were going to end up being who the bad guys ended up being… does that make sense? ;) I was red-herringed the whole time, and I loved being wrong!

CLAIRVOYANT is a fast-paced, twisty dark mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. A perfect spooky season read, honestly.

I had the opportunity to read an advance review copy of CLAIRVOYANT for free with thanks to the author, Samantha Alis. My review is honest, and given freely.

Clairvoyant is an intense and emotionally layered YA mystery that blends supernatural suspense with a deeply personal journey. Delilah has a terrifying ability—she sees glimpses of people she’s never met at the moment their lives are taken. And unless she uncovers what happened to them, the visions keep coming.

After a hard reset following a mental health crisis, Delilah is determined to stay out of other people’s tragedies. But when another girl goes missing and the visions return, she finds herself drawn into a case that hits too close, and won’t let go.

One of the novel’s standout features is how it handles Delilah’s visions. The shifts are jarring by design, but the author guides you in and out of those moments with clarity and control. It’s disorienting in the right way. Like a punch to the gut that still lands clean.

Delilah’s connection with her brothers gives the story its emotional grounding. Their loyalty, tension, and shared history add texture and heart, especially as Delilah tries to protect them while diving deeper into danger. Her complicated relationship with her father adds another layer of realism and resonance.

And the ending? It pulls the rug out in a way that’s both earned and effective. I thought I was ready—I wasn’t.

If you’re drawn to emotionally complex teen characters, atmospheric mysteries, and high personal stakes, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.

Holy cow, where to even begin. First off, Delilah's visions actually creeped me out at times but I just really found it hard to put this book down.
I really loved the Dufort siblings relationship and I feel that it helped keep Delilah grounded, especially after her visions. I hate how Dylan tried to put himself in their lives, but the author sure did her research because killers are known to do that.
The ending, while left on a cliffhanger, really surprised me because I would have never guessed who the killer was and still hadn't until Delilah figured it out. I really enjoyed the book and cannot wait until the next one.
