Even though this book is aimed for beginners, it's a really good book for advanced artists. It teaches fundamentals of composition, perspective and it helps a lot to improve the ways you can simplify an image to extract geometric shapes and shadows/highlights. I really enjoyed it and learned from it.

This is an excellent book for anyone who wished to learn to draw. In fact, the only real gripe I have with it is that very little time was devoted to the mechanics of making marks on the paper. Only vague description is used to describe the techniques of using charcoal, pencils, and the like.

However, the book does spend a great deal of time on how to approach one's subject. Composition, tone, proportion, perspective, line-drawing, etc, are all covered.
