Watering Dead Flowers is a collection of poems I've written from 2020-2025. A collection of love, heartbreak, and all the in-betweens. I’ve loved so hard it left me burned. The scars of my past love have been bandaged up and nurtured slowly through writing this book. Meeting a new muse. Watching the rise and fall of love. So poetic on paper, but not so much my mind.
Through four The Loving, The Losing, The Leaving, The Learning. This book walks through the stages of a relationship. Highlighting how love can feel like everything at a point in time. While being a gentle reminder of how pain is only temporary. Seeing the broken beauty of heartbreak and how you’re never alone in that. And finally the breakdown of nonlinear healing. All written to remind me, remind you, we always end up okay.
This book is some of my rawest feelings put into words. I've found comfort in poetry my whole life. So for the reader, I hope this book does the same for you.
This is a wonderful collection of poems about healing. I love the sections that the poems are broken up into and how each one opens with a plant’s stage of life to reflect where the speaker is in her relationship with herself. This book came into my life at the perfect time and I loved reading it.
a lovely poetry debut about the highs & lows of a relationship & the aftermath of the crumbling of it. Each poem provides a snapshot experience related to each of the 4 main chapters which thus as a whole creates a beautiful sequential painting of the feelings & thoughts of the author during the length of & following the relationship.
Favorite poems include “Put your lips on mine,” “a half empty glass,” “Like the moon,” & “Let’s stay friends.” Also the short punchy ones that take a shot directly at the reader’s gut (“I imagine crashing my car” & “you said he was an idiot”). I rather enjoyed some of the more abstract ones too (“Is it possible” & “the clock strikes”).
