His journey takes an unexpected turn when he meets Red Petal, a quick-witted Lenni Lenape woman fleeing a scandal. Together, they brave treacherous waters, journey to the bustling city of Cahokia, and face the challenges of the Shining Mountains. But danger looms as enemies close in, including a ruthless Cheyenne chief whose wrath could shatter their bond.

Will Redbone's spirit guide him to a life of purpose, or will the untamed rivers claim him?

Set in eleventh-century North America, Redbone is perfect for fans of historical fiction steeped in danger and discovery.

Redbone a Norse Warrior Exploration Series
By Ron Briggs
This book is an Exploration in humanity. First a deeper look at native american culture during the Viking expansion. Ron gives great detail of funeral practices, ceremonial beliefs and experiences of Native society.
Secondly he looks at the role of expectations. From the loss of Cass and yellow hair, to the role of mentorship Ron looks plainly at all the familiar tropes. He shows the grief of parents and grandparents. He shows the loss of connection not only by distance but but also death. How connection can be formed in the first meeting to the last goodbye.
Finally he looks at family expectations. What is the role of a mother and father. How children raised with extraordinary family stories have to change their perspective. Living in the shadow of Cass her niece has to prove herself beyond what her remarkable aunt did. Having had immedate connection to Traveler.. how does Redbone change the perspective ideals of his family to find his own way.
Great story beautiful detail... wonderful characters thank you Ron for taking us back to Turtle island.

Redbone follows the life of an early indian as he grows from a child to a man. He is born with a deformed foot and was almost abandoned at birth. His mother would not have that and she raised him with all the other tribal children. He was named Red at birth but as a result of an injury the bone protruding from his ankle at birth was broken off. His mother then named him Redbone. He was attracted to a trader as an infant and continued the attraction during his growing years. He decided to become a trader as his clubfoot would not allow him to be an effective warrior. He learned all he could from the trader Trader. He had many adventures and found his mate and married. This was an enjoyable read and allowed some thought as to how life may have been for the early indians.
