Brother's best friend, small town romance and he's helping her with a bucket list, what more can you ask for!!
I loved this book so much more than the first one, they were adorable together.

Cherry is ready to fully live her life during the summer, before her last year of college starts, with a bucket list in hand. Duke, her brother's best friend, unexpectedly finds her list and decides to help her with some of the things on it.. Just as a friend of course.. But, the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore their feelings, because being together makes them feel more alive than ever..

I really loved the setting and I adore the group of people that make this series.
Even in the first book Cherry and Duke were my favourite, so I was so excited for their story!!

Cherry was so brave and I loved how she wanted to live her life fully, not letting her epilepsy control her life. And I have to say, I'm also glad her struggle with endometriosis was shown. Her growth during the book was so fun to watch, I loved how she gained her confidence.
Duke, his quiet demeanor is what pulled me in during the first book. I loved seeing him being vulnerable with Cherry and how he cared about her, without clipping her wings. I also loved seeing him grow, how he didn't let fear rule his life anymore. And you know what they say about the quiet ones, and it was a motorcycle scene, if you know you know.. And that bar scene was frustrating, yet hilarious..
I really liked them together, I loved their slow progress. While some scenes were a bit cringe, they were still adorable.

Now, the conflict was a little too dragged for my taste and I have to say I hated how it all came to a head at the end. I knew it would happen that way and hated every single second of it..
The end was also a bit abrupt, I think we should've gotten a few more chapters.

Overall, I enjoyed it and I hope we get Sawyer's book next.

*Thank you to Netgalley and to HarperCollins UK for providing me with an ARC.*

Riding the Line was honestly such a ride (pun intended). Cherry and Duke spent the whole book riding the line between their feelings and I was on edge the entire time wondering when they were finally going to stop teasing each other. 🫣🫣 The tension just kept building and building.

I really connected with Cherry, especially over her endometriosis. Watching her navigate life with something that could make her feel so different was emotional, but what made it even more powerful was how Duke handled it. He constantly reassured her that she was still worthy, still beautiful, and that her struggles didn’t make her weak. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 He didn’t try to fix her or control her, he just supported her in a way that let her feel strong and seen. Seeing that care and understanding gave her space to grow into her confidence. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Duke was everything I wanted in a love interest. He didn’t boss her around or go over the top with treating her like she needed protecting, but he was always there to catch her when she fell. Watching him support her while letting her be unapologetically herself was just perfect.

This one is definitely a slow burn, built up over years and stretched through the book, and it makes their moments together so satisfying. I’m already excited to go back and read the first book and see where the rest of the series 🩷🩷

”If I ever got the privilege of painting her, she'd be a canvas of deep reds and midnight blacks, topped with bright white for all the little moments of light she brings to the world.”

“With the paint dappling her skin, it only reminds me further that I'm holding a masterpiece of a life in my hands, a woman who deserves to be idolised.”

“Even the finest painting in the world wouldn't come close to rivalling your beauty, Cherry.”

“You're allowed to let others take care of you, to give you the love you need on the days when you can't find enough for yourself. It doesn't make you weak—it just makes you human.”

“I'm ready to bare the deepest depths of my soul, no matter how dark and fear-ridden, if it means I get the privilege of loving you even for one more second.”

Omg I am so grateful I had the privilege to read the ARC copy of Riding The Line. Emma Lucy has written the perfect, steamy cowboy romance AGAIN! Returning to Willow Ranch was a dream and I fell in love with Cherry and Duke. Cherry needs to find her confidence and Duke is there to help her in more ways than one hehe. The way Duke looks out for Cherry had me kicking my legs! The bucket list, the bar, the motorbike… oh my days I was blushing! This is a must read for all cowboy romance lovers!!!

This had a good premise and when I read about Cherry and Duke in the first book, I really wanted their story.
I like the tropes: forbidden romance, brother’s best friend, age gap, epilepsy and endometriosis rep and the fact that he takes such good care of her was really sweet. I liked their dynamic, it was cute yet filled with tension.
However I felt like some parts were a little bit corny and I wish he wouldn’t call her Baby Hensley all the time because that nickname bothered me for its meaning.
It was still a very enjoyable read though and I am grateful to

This was such a fun read! I already loved the vibe between Cherry and Duke in Live, Ranch, Love and couldn’t wait to read more about them. Their connection was so cute between them right from the start and that made it so enjoyable to read about them.

I also loved the epilepsy and endometriosis representation and how that stayed such an important topic throughout the book. How Duke helped her with that was just so nice to see. Not pitying her or trying to turn her into a victim, but supporting her so she can be the best version of her.

The only thing that didn’t really work for me was how long the brother’s best friend thing was dragged out. Yes they had their reasons but when you have to start asking your friends to lie for you, I feel like you should get the memo that it’s time to just be honest about it. And like where was her best friend throughout this entire book??? She just went poof.

But I really had such a good time reading this and I really appreciated the ending as well. With a lot of small town romances it can feel like their happy ending is always in that small town and it’s fun to see that changed up from time to time.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read more from Emma Lucy!

Thank you NetGalley & Harper Collins for this digital arc 🩷

Riding the Line is a tension-filled, emotionally charged romance that hooked me right away. It follows two characters whose lives collide in a way that’s equal parts inconvenient and irresistible, forcing them into close proximity while they’re both trying (and failing) to keep things strictly professional. The setup alone delivers a ton of spark without giving too much away, and the dynamic between them is easily the best part.

Emma Lucy shines when it comes to chemistry and character voice—the banter is sharp, the emotional moments land, and the romance has that addictive push-and-pull that keeps you turning pages. Their connection feels earned, messy, and genuinely fun to watch unfold.

If I had one wish, it would be for a little more depth in certain emotional beats. Some moments felt like they could’ve dug in further to really elevate the impact. But that’s a critique of pacing and development, not the author herself—her writing style is engaging, and the tone fits the story beautifully.

Overall, this is a strong 4-star romance: warm, swoony, and just angsty enough to keep things interesting without ever spoiling the journey.

Huge thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for the ARC in exchange for my honest and spoiler-free review. ✧

Cherry is sick of being treated like she is about to break at any moment; her epilepsy meant that her childhood was closely monitored and she missed out on far too many things. That’s why, on her final summer before the end of college, and the start of adult life, she has a bucket list. She wants to have the experiences she missed out on. When duke offers to help, she is over the moon - she has always crushed on Duke. He is 6 years older than her, sexy and covered in tattoos. The big issue - he is her brother’s best friend and treats her like his little sister.

Everyone is sleeping on Emma Lucy, I loved live ranch love and didn’t think this would be as good but it really was. The banter in this was top tier, I really loved cherry and her character growth in this book was amazing. Duke has such a troubled soul but with a heart of absolute gold. You can feel the chemistry literally pouring out of the pages, and the spice - sweat inducing.

I love Emma Lucy; her writing and what she stands for. As a chronically ill person, the rep in Riding the Line hit close to home (thank you). I loved Duke and Cherry together - I’ve been excited for them ever since they got foreshadowed in Live, Ranch, Love. I’m also a sucker for found family, which is so well done in this series. I’m already frothing at the mouth for book 3.

Read if you like:

- Brother's best friend
- Small town romance
- Slowburn

On the whole, this was a really cute and effortless read which was quick to get through. I love the brother's best friend trope, so it automatically had me sold on that. The tension between Duke and Cherry was great as well.

However, I do think the book lacked depth I felt like Emma Lucy attempted to give the characters a deeper backstory and daily struggles, but it just felt.. forced and a bit unnatural to me. Cherry struggles with epilepsy and endometriosis. The first of which does play a central role but also seems slightly forgotten in many parts of the book, the second of which I didn't even know was endometriosis rep until the author's note at the end. I will say, this may also just be me not fully vibing with the writing style so take this with a grain of salt . I also think the build-up to the couple in the next book could've been more smooth. Generally, side characters aren't very fleshed out and suddenly getting this random (very tropey) backstory to two characters felt a bit forced.

I did definitely enjoy Live, Ranch, Love more than this one - I felt more connected to the characters and their story. Definitely curious to read the next book in the series but this one wasn't my favourite.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I waited so long for this book and what do I do now it’s over 😭

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading back to Willow Ridge was a dream. I feel like I waited for this specific book for so long and I never wanted this to be over.

The tension between Cherry & Duke had been built over years and it finally started to explode once Duke caught a look at Cherry’s bucket list...a list which contained a few extra things she didn't need her boss and brothers best friend to see!

Literally swooned every time Duke called Cherry baby Hensley like that man has my HEART.

Duke is the vibe of says a little but what he does say, counts. As a bartender, he's a good listener and people watcher and I feel like Emma did such a good job as showing his type without saying the words. He watched and listened to Cherry and understood why this bucket list was so important and helped her come out of her shell, and explain her emotions to her family and friends that had cocooned her in safety. He fought for beside her, never overstepping her and letting her have the power and confidence to do it herself.

Duke & Cherry together, chase the dreams they've been putting off for various reasons and it’s such a journey. This book was just pure enjoyment from start to finish, I loved every moment.

I'm such a sucker for side character building, it makes me fall in love even more. We got a some scenes with Wyatt & Rory from LRL as well as seeing the friendship group who I’m sure we will be seeing more of...making me ever so excited to continue my willow ridge journey!

fun, quick, and very very well done

Brother's best friend is a fav for me. I loved every single aspect of this story, from the relationship Cherry and Duke had, to actually admitting their feelings!

I think there were a lot of quintessential keys for Cherry and Duke to work, I liked their dynamic, I loved how it was set up their evolution, and how much you get to see the way they love each other. I'm a huge fan of age gap and this was done right but also tricky, like it took some of the magic when Cherry kept seeing she loved Duke for years, and like.... 6 years age gap is still enjoyable but she's 21 and he's 27... so like, when Cherry says he loved Duke for a while???? Means??? When?? she ?? was ?? what?? a teen?? Like she had an infatuation and then realized she loved him?? idk that's the only thing I didn't like, that their author could've made the characters a little older, I think it would've been more enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a slow burn, cute, fluffy little spicy romance, then this is it!

Duke and Cherry have been pining for each other for years and this is what the first half of the book demonstrates. when Cherry creates a sexy bucket list, Duke decides to hep her out with the non sexy items but we all know where that will lead.

This was cute but I did struggle to get into it. Their longing and pinning just didn’t translate into the pages as I thought they might and when they finally professed their love, it fell a little flat for me. It wasn’t cringy or anything like that, I just didn’t connect with the characters.

It was definitely a fluffy HEA little romance if that’s what you’re in the mood for!

This was my first book by Emma Lucy but it’s fair to say I’m obsessed!!! Now I need to go back and read the first book in the series because Riding The Line pulled me in from the start and I couldn’t stop reading it.
If it’s a small town romance you already know I’m going to love it. But this one was off the charts amazing.
The chemistry between Cherry and Duke is perfection and their banter so funny!! I loved how the epilepsy representation was portrayed and how it was a important part of the book.
Highly recommending this one!!!

If you love a good brother's best friend, small town romance, slow burn, chronic illness representation and he is helping her complete her summer bucket list you should definitely read this book as I think it's amazing.

In the first book in this series you get to see some snippets of Duke and Cherry and I loved them so much in that book that when I found out they were getting a book I was so excited and this book did not disappoint me and I became so obsessed with them and this book.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning, it had me feeling so many emotions. The scenes with Duke's Gram had me laughing out loud she was just so funny with the things she would say and do. The dynamic between Duke and Cherry is just perfection they complement each other so well and they are definitely soulmates. The motorbike smut scene was so hot and had me giggling and kicking my feet.

The big thing that happened at the end had me in utter shock and had me shading a few tears.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this book in exchange for my honest opinion:
I’d give this 3.75 stars! ⭐ I was lucky enough to read an arc for the first book of the series as well, and even though I did enjoy both of the books, I must admit that I liked this one even more!
Brothers best friend? Lots of yearning and slow burn? Yes please!!
Cherry and Duke are perfect for each other and I loved how Duke always pushed Cherry to try new things and never told her she can't do anything because of her illness. He always got her back.
Some of the scenes were quite spicy but there were so many cute moments as well. So in conclusion I'd say: you have to read this book! :)

This time last year, I fell hard for Emma Lucy’s writing after reading Live, Ranch, Love. Riding the Line caused me to fall even harder. I didn’t think much could beat Rory and Wyatt, until I met Wyatt’s best friend and little sister...

Cherry Hensley, forever ‘Baby Hensley’ to her friends and family, no matter how old she gets. Growing up being protected by the people around her, especially her brother and his friends due to her epilepsy, has made it difficult for her to be taken seriously or feel like she’s living her best life.

Therefore, as is one of my favourite tropes, Cherry writes a bucket list. A not so innocent bucket list. And ultimately becomes the most wholesome fictional character I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know.

Her health problems are such an integral part of the plot and done in such a delicate way, that it almost makes you want to protect Cherry yourself.

However, Cherry has always had an innocent crush on her brother’s best friend, who – drum roll pleaseIS ALSO HER BOSS.

Enter, Duke Bennett.

Cherry feels that she is always destined to be seen as Baby Hensley, until Duke finds her NSFW bucket list.

Duke - bar owner, life saver, problem solver, artist, biker, Wyatt’s best friend, basically part of the Hensley family... Appears to be harboring a secret of his own. Which becomes harder to ignore after coming across Baby Hensley’s list.

“He’s not the guy who tells his friends how much he loves them; he’s the guy who strives to help his friends whenever they need him. He’s the listener, the one who probably knows you better than you know yourself.”

If this isn’t the perfect set-up for a great romance, I don’t know what is. Especially because Duke’s instinct to protect Cherry as well as their magnetism makes them the perfect pair for new experiences.

“We could... keep it a secret?” I knew this was going to be the book for me the minute I read those words.

“If I ever got the privilege of painting her, she’d be a canvas of deep reds and midnight blacks, topped with bright white for all the little moments of light she brings to the world.”

I highlighted like my life depended on it throughout this book. It had so many beautiful moments, and Duke’s silent but naughty demeanor was the ideal contrast to Cherry’s character.

“I swear whenever he looks at me the rest of my surroundings quieten. All the chaos of the world suddenly disappearing.”

Duke and Cherry navigate their undeniable attraction to each other whilst working through Cherry’s bucket list knowing that the line should definitely not be crossed. But maybe, it could be ridden?

“Duke Bennett might be struggling to ride the line he’s drawn between us as much as me.”

The tropes, characters, plot line and writing style were everything I could ask for in a small-town romance. I wouldn’t change a thing.

However, if I keep writing this review, I’m definitely not going to be able to stop myself from giving spoilers, so I’ll leave you with some more of my favourite quotes -

“Because when life gives you an opportunity like this, you don’t think twice about taking the reins and jumping into the saddle.”

“He’s got me. Even when he doesn’t realise that he does, he’s always got me.”

“With Duke, everything I feel seems magnetised. And I’m wondering if I’ll ever find that sensation in all these other places I’m searching.”

“I let myself melt into the safety of his warm embrace. The place where I know that if I fall, he’ll always be there to pick me up and carry me home.”

“But when it comes to Cherry Hensley, nothing makes sense except for her.”

“Because when you’re not around, I’m like an old, crackling neon sign, struggling to keep alight, but you give me life.”

I absolutely adored Emma Lucy’s debut with Live Ranch Love and couldn’t wait to dive into book 2 of this series. This one follows Wyatt’s sister Cherry and his BFF Duke.

Oooh the secret pining for YEARS was 10/10 in this book. Duke Bennett is a freaking gem and what all real boyfriends should aspire to be. He’s kind, and genuine and supportive and IS A CONSENT KING. He makes sure that Cherry uses her voice and gives her the push she needs to tackle things she may be afraid of but want to do.

Cherry had so much growth in this book and I was down for it. Seeing her gain confidence and make herself and her opinions heard was such an amazing storyline throughout the book. I really loved the chronic illness rep and how even though she lived with it, she didn’t want her health challenges to define her.

It was a slow burn to get them from friends to lovers but once the spice was spicing, it was HOTT. I loved seeing Cherry gain more experience and have Duke be the one to give it to her.

My only small bone to pick was how long and drawn out the “secret relationship” was and hiding it from her brother. I know it’s a brother’s best friend, but when Rory is actively hiding it from her boyfriend, it’s time to have the difficult conversations. Also, where did Montana go? She was everywhere in the first half of the book and then she just kind of disappeared? Nothing that majorly detracted from the story and I still enjoyed it immensely.

Loved it, this series is gold. Can’t wait to see what’s next in the series :)

Thank you NetGalley, Emma Lucy and Harper Collins for providing an eARC in exchange for my honest review - Riding the Line publishes September 11th.

I picked up Emma’s debut novel Live, Ranch, Love earlier this year and really enjoyed the small town cowboy romance, so I was keen to pick up book 2 in the series.

Book 2 follows Cherry (Wyatt’s sister) and Duke as they work through Cherry’s bucket list to help her step out of her comfort zone, build her confidence and experience the world during her last summer in Willow Ridge.

All of Cherry and Duke’s tension filled moments in the build up to their romance as they work on the bucket list are so fun & angsty (my favourite being at the fair on the ferris wheel!)

There’s great representation of epilepsy and endometriosis in this book, something which is close to my heart and I appreciated Emma’s thoughtfulness when writing about this. I found alot of it incredibly relatable (creating a calming environment, wanting more for yourself than your illness defining you, people treating you differently, missing out on fun plans etc).
Emma gave Cherry so much empowerment in advocating for herself with her conditions which was so wonderful to see, and how compassionate and kind Duke is, even before they were together was 🥹🥹

I do wish that the third act conflict didn’t take so long to resolve / we got a bit more after the resolution as the book ended quickly and we didn’t see as much of Cherry and Duke together as I’d have liked.

I couldn’t put this down and read it in one sitting. Overall if you’re looking for a fun time, you love the brothers best friend trope but enjoy some deeper, more meaningful themes, you’ll eat this up! I’m looking forward to picking up Book 3 in the Willow Ridge series.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, Harper Fiction for the opportunity to ARC read this book.

Back in Willow Ridge, Cherry is starting off her summer with a bang - A BUCKET LIST!

After her best friend talked her into living a little more and trying things she's always wanted to do but was afraid to due to her Epilepsy keeping her more sheltered than she would have liked, Cherry has a list of fun, hot and steamy things to tick off ☑️
Who better to help with that than her big brothers, hot, sexy and single best friend?!

Duke knows that he should ignore the list when he sees it but unfortunately for him, he can't seem to say no to his best friend's little sister.
Since Cherry started working at his bar during her summers, 2 years ago, Duke has had to daily remind himself that she is off limits.. after STATING that he would not be helping her with the explicit things on her list, he does what he can to help Cherry feel free for the first time since her fall when she was a teenager.

This book was so wholesome and I really loved how sweet Duke and Cherrys relationship was. What started out as friendship, slowly led to them giving in to their feelings for one another and helping each other become the best version of themselves. Duke is everyone shoulder to lean on and Cherry try's her best to help him open up and be the one leaning for once while Duke makes Cherry feel safe to explore things she never thought she could have.

At points, this book was quite emotional and you could feel the turmoil coming from the characters. Dukes Grandma and her spicy scrabble was a highlight for me and I wish she was in it more!

Emma Lucy smashes the small town romance and I'm looking forward to reading book 3.

When I need a pick-me-up, a small-town cowboy romance never fails to do the trick! Especially one with all the secret pining like this one.

Riding The Line is the second book in the Willow Ridge cowboy romance series but you can definitely go into Riding The Line without having read Live, Ranch, Love because while the previous main characters are involved in the story, the relationships are explained really well and it provides all the context you need to enjoy this one fresh!

I loved the main characters for this one. Cherry is the sister of previous MMC, Wyatt. She's had a long-term crush on, you guessed it, her brother's best friend, Duke. Normally, brother's best friend isn't a great trope for me because I never really buy why it's forbidden. However, I loved this one. It felt really genuine, like Wyatt and all of his friends (not just Duke) were genuinely trying to protect Cherry from being hurt anymore, because of her epilepsy and endometriosis. Over time, that protection had become over-protection but it all came from a place of love. So, I really loved this one. It was funny and sweet (and then spicy) and it was exactly what I needed after getting into a bit of a down mood yesterday. Perfect for lifting me back out of it!

I'm excited to continue the series and to find out the story with Sawyer, who seems to be next?

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

After reading Live, Ranch, Love, I was really excited to dive into this one, as I loved the first book.

I’ll admit it took me until around 35% to properly get into the story—I’m not sure if that was me or the book—but once I did, I flew through the rest. It turned into a really cute, fun, and exciting read. I loved rooting for Duke and Cherry; they were so sweet together.

I especially enjoyed getting a deeper look into Duke’s emotions and seeing how Cherry encouraged and supported him to open up more. I also appreciated the representation of Cherry’s endometriosis—it wasn’t overwhelming but was woven in just enough—and I thought Duke’s kindness and support around this was lovely.

The ending took me by surprise, and I’m still not quite sure how I feel about it. I had been expecting a fluffier romance with a chance for Duke and Cherry to share their news with Wyatt, so I was a little disappointed that moment was taken away.

Overall, though, I’ve really enjoyed this series so far and I’m already looking forward to the next book!

Riding the Line pulls you in from the very first page, the prologue alone had me completely hooked. What stood out to me most was the dynamic between Duke and Cherry. Duke’s quiet longing practically radiates off the page, even as he constantly holds himself back. Cherry, on the other hand, is brave in a way that feels deeply authentic. She knows instinctively that Duke is her safe haven, and the trust she places in him is incredibly moving.

One of my favorite aspects of their relationship is how reliably Duke shows up for her. He doesn’t just protect her he builds her. He helps her see the beauty within herself, especially in moments when her confidence wavers. The scene where he paints her so she can see herself the way he sees her? Absolutely breathtaking. His devotion is steady, quiet, and powerful.

And Cherry gives just as much in return. Without even realizing it, she soothes and strengthens Duke simply by being in his orbit. Their connection feels genuine, tender, and beautifully reciprocal.

“All I’ve ever wanted is to build her up.”
That line sums up Duke and their entire love story perfectly.

If you love romances built on trust, emotional safety, and characters who make each other better simply by existing together, this one will stay with you.

Thanks to NetGalley for the book!

"Even the strongest girl in the world is worthy of being cared for"

I do love a good bucket list!

This was so much better than the first book, and I'm so happy that I continued the series, even though I thought maybe I wouldn't.

I liked the characters and the setting. I feel like this book had all the micro trope moments (maybe a few would have been fine):

I liked that it was not overly dramatic, I feel like it was just the right amount.
And by the end it managed to have me pretty excited for the next one.

I thoroughly enjoyed my second trip back to Willow Ridge. This time we follow bar owning, motorbike riding, I'll keep them at a distance because I'm afraid to lose them Duke as he struggles with his feelings for his best friend's little sister. Cherry is back for the summer doing her best to check off her bucket list, proving to her family, but more importantly herself, that's she's capable of living a full life despite her health concerns.

Cherry and Duke's dynamic was electric balanced with tenderness. There was excellent representation of not only dealing with loss, but also Cherry's endometriosis and epilepsy. I also loved seeing Wyatt and Rory, along with the other side characters in the series.

❤️ Brother's best friend
❤️ MMC who has dealt with loss
❤️ FMC with endometriosis and epilepsy
