About the author

Gabriela Epstein (she/her) is a NYT bestselling comic artist based in Austin, TX.

Originally from Philly, she studied oil painting at the PA Academy of the Fine Arts before getting her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. She later worked as a character designer in TV animation before switching to comics.

Gabriela has illustrated BABY-SITTERS CLUB #9 Claudia and the New Girl and #11 Good-Bye Stacey, Good-bye, as well as the bilingual graphic novel, INVISIBLE, for Scholastic Graphix.

Currently, she is writing and illustrating the Danny Phantom comic continuation for Abrams Books, DANNY PHANTOM: A GLITCH IN TIME and its sequel.

Sooooo nostalgic. It was a fun read and expanded more on the world again! Looking forward to any more sequels, and by the ending it seems like there will be one!

Another terrible attempt at breathing new life into Danny Phantom. Overly sensitive and lazy themes that refuse to address doling out real consequences to characters that have acted cruel and selfish, turns out the author still thinks being a bad person should be rewarded with sympathy if a character decides they were personally justified. Heroes that only really talk out problems with their enemies aren't interesting and it flies in the face of the more committed morals the show was attempting to communicate. The art has not improved since the last book, with some panels drastically off the already overly stylized models. This author cannot handle superhero narratives and seems dead set on ruining everything that was charming about Danny Phantom in the first place. Can't even bother to write a healthy relationship between the two main characters that were teased to be canon since the very first season of the show, they barely interact like a couple and get treated like background noise in favor of addressing a one episode fling that was thrown in for drama as if it's more important than the intended romance the original writers set up and confirmed in the finale. Feels a lot like braindead fandom pandering and the story and characters suffer a lot for it.

Picks up where the last one left off and brings back some of my all time favorite characters, and finally brings Val's story and character development to where she should have been at the end of the series?

Also, and i mean this in quite literally the best and loving way as a person who's been a fan of the series since I was a young teen lurking on the Fanfiction.net website: this feels like a top tier fanfic come to life. It takes some of my favorite tropes from the fandom (OCs related to favorite characters like Wulf, edgy Dan as a Teen being adopted by Vlad, Dani makes a return, and Valerie and her relationship with the cool kids finally coming to a solid end)

I love this series so much, and it feels like the story is written with such love for the original material. Also? I love the new characters and god, bringing Wulf back too? And the implication that we'll get to see more Walker in the upcoming books??? I'm hecking sTOKED

I had a blast reading this one, a continuation of A Glitch in Time, Danny struggles with the aftermath of people believing Phantom caused the Disasteroid incident (thank fuck it's not fully canon anymore) and ghosts are evil and the following up on being the bridge between worlds. I adored that book so seeing Gabriela E follow up on that was brilliant. Dani is back and she really balances what that before attitude is like to just beating up the ghosts to more so trying to problem solve. Things are a lot more complicated now.

The standout is Valerie Grey and her arc around danny finally having some closure after so many years. For that alone I am so satisfied and happy because it does still revolve on the reasons she started to hunt in the first place and the well placed anger of being left behind but also acknowledging the very real parts of her that can still empathise and move past it.

An excellent followup to Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time, and another worthy continuation of the series. Gabriela Epstein knows these characters inside and out, and where to take them in a way that's narratively satisfying. I appreciated the character development for Valerie, and the expansion on the recontextualized ghost lore from A Glitch in Time.

Even if you haven't read the previous graphic novel, this one has a decent recap in the beginning to introduce new readers to Danny Phantom and the world of Amity Park. Minor spoilers: I wish Dani had stuck around permanently, but I understand why she didn't. The ending hints at a third installment, which I'm hoping Nickelodeon and Abrams allow to happen. If you're a fan of the Danny Phantom series, check this out you won't be disappointed.

A masterpiece.

Read it in one sitting. This is my ship, my babies. This installment had less of a big plot, but that’s because it was busy taking care of the most neglected and yet beloved relationship in the fandom.

They’re good. I love them. Valerie is everything. Danny is everything. Wulf is everything. Dani is fine. Dan (?!?) is back. Danny and Valerie finally have the confrontation of their lives, and they end up okay. It’s not where I want them to be, for I fear they can never be where I want them to be (alas!), but they’re good.

The art is beautiful and true to the show while maintaining a unique quality. Love the new character design. And love the artistic renderings of moments from the show from Danny and Valerie’s past a lot.

Absolutely beautiful. If you like Danny Phantom, read it. If you don’t like Danny Phantom, I can’t speak to you.

I love that this book focused on Valerie! She has some great moments with Danny as they try to figure out where things stand between them. The only thing that prevented this from being 5 stars was that Valerie joined back up with the "popular crowd" again. I guess I'm just a little surprised that she would want to, considering how they ditched her before. But apart from that, this was a pretty good continuation. If there's a third book, I hope we see more of Valerie, and that she and Danny continue to navigate this new era in their relationship.

Absolutely loved this, I've decided I need to own a copy myself because borrowing it from the library isn't good enough. The art is fantastic and the story keeps a wonderful balance of humor and action. Dare I say it, I've enjoyed these comics more than some of the original tv show! I've been nonstop talking about it to all of my friends and sending them pictures of my favorite panels. My older sister grew up watching the show too and I'm now on a mission to get her to read this!

Annoying ending that wasn’t really tied up because they are so obviously setting up for a third book (hopefully it happens)
I liked that the book focused on wulf - he’s very underrated. They could’ve done more with Dan but ah whatever I’m just happy the series is continuing in some way. (Also the confirmation of ghosts being emotional energy is so funny to me because it signals that Gabriela Epstein was definitely involved in the fandom)

Another STELLAR addition to the Danny Phantom lore. A page-turner all the way through, and a fun romp with the great ensemble cast we know and love. The art is delightful too—staying faithful to the original style yet daring to flex where it counts. I hope we will get many more of these graphic novels in years to come.

Solid. I definitely should have re-read the previous book before diving straight into this one because I do not remember a single thing and that definitely detracted from the reading experience. But. I didn't. Whoops. Hopefully I'll remember that lesson for next time 'cause they've clearly made space for another installment and I'm here for it.

A wonderful follow up to A Glitch In Time! I had a fun time reading this one, and seeing Valerie's conflict be fully explored was satisfying. The show never properly expanded on this due to its abrupt cancellation, and its nice to finally see it in text (and image, of course)! Can't wait for the next installment!!!

Great successor to the Danny Phantom series that expands its possibility, while keeping the flair that made the tv show iconic. Doesn't lean on fanon, and brings new interpretive possibilities to the table. Adds new characters and develops underutilized ones. Really solid, would recommend to anyone who liked the tv show.

An amazing followup to "A Glitch in time". Characters are being challenged with their believes and growing of it as a result. Also Lyca is the cutest thing ever and I will protect her with my life!
