Andy "Duke" Ellington was an exceptional fighter pilot with a habit of biting off more than he should have been able to chew. Yet, somehow, he always came through it - whether that was luck or skill was an open debate. This was his life as political tensions rose and boiled over into military action. At least it was until it wasn't. He pushed too hard and too far and the end came for him.
And then...he was Elsewhere, in a completely different world with no support and only a marginal clue. Things like magic and stats were his new reality and he had no choice but to learn how to adapt. But he was "Duke" or "The Duke" as many called him. He lived his life on the edge and he would do no different in this world.
Imprisoned Archmages, corrupt rulers, mysterious forces from beyond, and ancient dungeons all wanted a piece of him.
He was happy to take them all on. He would show everyone just who he was and what happened if you messed with "The Duke".
good story if you can get past the arrogance of the MC.
Excellent story, good story, progression, good world building, likable MC. The book was slow in the beginning, but picked up after about the first 50 pages in my opinion. I’d give it five stars, but I don’t like pilots Air Farce pilots don’t know anything about ground combat ground operations working with small units or unit tactics. a lot of them in my are arrogant because of what they do because they are the best at what they do and that’s fly a jet fighter, take them out of that element an they know nothing. put them on the ground, and there like a duck out of water even the side characters in this book called the MC arrogant. The author must have seen top gun. will definitely read the next book in the series. because there are so many story threads that are left hanging. It’s worth the read.
Again. Because Amazon is being Amazon, my review will probably only appear on Goodreads.
For the most part I really liked this book. It was a fun romp. It just seemed to get a little bit rushed at the ending. There is a bit of minor issue with editing. It's not a big deal, but it can be a tad distracting. All in all, this was well worth the read. With just a little polish, it will be a (nearly) perfect book.
I really hope that there will be a sequel. I am really interested in seeing where this story goes.
As a fighter pilot, Duke was used to pushing the limits. Sadly, he pushed too hard and found himself facing certain death. That’s when he suddenly ended up in a new world, complete with magic and monsters. He is given a few abilities and fully intends to make the absolute most of them in his new life.
It’s always great to start up a new Isekai litrpg and see how things start. This one decides to go the OP route! It doesn’t take too long to see that Duke is a wrecking machine. The side characters are no slouches either. This was a great read and I’m looking forward to the next one! James Cheatham does a great job narrating as always!
I would have liked to have seen Duke’s character sheet more than once, at the beginning. Even if the author didn’t want to make it too ubiquitous, give me one at the end of the book instead of just telling me the status of random stats.
Other than that, I don’t buoyed this book and I’m interested to see how Duke deals with the local issues hike extricating himself from the planetary deities’ direct attention.
Unlikable main character who refuses to commit to anything as a way to set up the driving force of the story. This is done in a very heavy-handed manner. Add in that his abilities make him a classic gary stu, and I lost all interest in the book. I did not finish this, only made it about a third of the way in.
The book is very good, but the MC is just an idiot and soo full of himself. It really got hard to continue reading as the book kept going. Definitely not going to read the next book, too bad, cause I liked the other characters. I just can't get passed the authors decision to make the MC a Power hungry idiot.
Technically it's not really a proper system cus it's 2 gods, but it works the same way. Anyway, fantastic story. Mc isn't a complete idiot, no harem, story kicks off fast and stays incredible throughout. Mc very op near the end. Can't wait for book 2, and hope for atleast a book 3!
So the story starts off really interesting and quickly plummets into suckage. There's too many things to list it's just poor writing with a character who's so far beyond overpowered that there's no point in even writing conflicts because he's so powerful no one can come anywhere near him
I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book to anyone who likes LitRPG and progression types of books with lots of action. There were a number of spelling errors in the final text of the book.
What's not to love about story of an overpowered MC, that kicks butt and gets the girl. Its every nerd/geeks dream. We all just wish we were THAT OPMC.
