This catalogue traces the major stages of painter David Hockney's career, from his earliest works to his most recent creations. Structured around essential themes, this title highlights the landscapes, portraits, and visual experiments that enrich his career. The book also includes his previously unpublished creations, including a painting inspired by William Blake and new self-portraits. Edited by Sir Norman Rosenthal, this unique reference book is a valuable resource for understanding the trajectory of a major artist of the 20th and 21st centuries.
A beautiful catalogue for the Hockney exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. The quality of the reproductions of the artworks is superb; the foldouts reproduce the sense of scale better than most catalogues. The essays were mostly interesting, some really interesting nuggets of info on Hockney's relationships with other artists and the importance of Yorkshire to him as an artist.
Would it hold up if you haven't seen the exhibition? I think so. It focuses more on Hockney of the last 25 years.
Fantastic quality book of David’s show at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Concentrating on the last 25 years it is a must read for all Hockney lovers.
