Highly practical, actionable, and readable. A scriptural foundation sets this book apart from other resources on habits. In addition to guidance on habit building / designing behavior change, important points are made on grace, Jesus as a model, and that God’s Word and Spirit are truly the source of spiritual transformation (though our effort is still important in our sanctification).

Atomic Habits, Power of Habit, and Tiny Habits are good “further reading” if you want to nerd out on the subject, but this is a lean and mean, easy to follow resource. Will definitely recommend.

I thought this was an excellent read and a great starting point for someone looking for practical guidance on how to build habits.

The methods described are methods that will work for EVERYONE- and are centered around creating lasting habits that will work for YOU.

Ultimately the goal isn’t perfection, it’s continued faithfulness, and I like how it’s explained that it may look different in different seasons.

I would recommend this to all!

Practical, Deep, and Thorough

Don’t let the size of this book fool you. Jay Jones says more in 100+ pages than many authors say in 200+ pages. His principles epitomize the S.M.A.R.T. goals we’ve heard so much about, exalting Jesus as the ultimate example. If you’re frustrated or stuck in a rut, buy this book and read it, and refer back to it often. We will be using this book in our small groups this year.

I liked how many scriptural examples with references this book had, instead of saying you need to do this it shows what different people from the Bible did so you had a reference to go with the directive.

“Design a structure that supports the person God has called you to be.” 🔥🔥

I simply couldn’t put it down.
Very practical, but powerful due to the scriptural support attached to the practical.
Anyone desiring to grow will benefit from reading this book.

If you read only one book on the formation and power of habits… this would be a great one to choose. If you have already read other books on the topic, you’ll likely identify some similar points because the author has clearly done his research and knows the topic well. His distinctive and compelling contribution to the subject, however, is his incorporation of scriptural principles and paradigms. The inclusion of this biblical information not only enhances the subject matter… it also confirms its validity and utility. The author provides plenty of evidence to substantiate his claims, but he does more than that. He also writes in an encouraging and hopeful manner which is sure to motivate his readers to make positive changes. His use of many stories, illustrations, and anecdotes also makes the book accessible and enjoyable… in addition to being informative and inspiring. I will read this book again and recommend it highly.

Concise and practical

The chapter on discipline vs. legalism alone is worth the price of the entire book. Congratulations Bro. Jones for a great book!
