Port Macabre #2

Macabre Gods

Rate this book
In this story, there are three beasts, and I am their initiate.

The Anguis, a secret society of power-hungry individuals, have long controlled Port Macabre from their seat at Noire House: a place where the wealthy rub shoulders and chase hedonistic pleasures. However, behind the mansion's facade lies a poisonous, hidden underworld.

I spent one night at their mercy. An invitation to their world that I couldn't deny turned out to be the key to bringing my darkest fantasies to life.

They said they would come for me, but months have dragged on with no word. I've been forced to return to the mundane life I existed in before they gave me a glimpse of something forbidden and enticing.

What am I supposed to do when the twisted world of the Anguis unexpectedly comes calling… and the men I thought I could trust turn out to be liars?

Suddenly, I am no better than an unwilling initiate to their world. A pawn taken by force. Someone's pet claimed without warning.

In this sick and twisted world, I'm now someone's possession and have been sucked into the Anguis' customs. I am marked to be taught how to serve those who have laid claim to my future. One wrong move and my new masters hiding in the shadows might choose to end my life at any moment.

But as my three captors slowly reveal their individual agendas—as the proximity of being under their watchful gaze starts to break down my defenses—the greatest danger comes from falling for the men who stole my life while following orders.

Lines are crossed and desire spirals as I quickly find myself seeking out their wickedness.

I can't succumb to three bloodstained captors… Can I?

Macabre Gods is an MMFM why-choose, reverse harem, dark revenge romance with MF, MM, and group scenes. Expect a hot, gritty, bisexual, enemies-to-lovers romance with ruthless, morally gray, poly love interests.

Includes Noire Moon, a prologue novella for this story. While it is not necessary to listen to the prologue first to understand the events of Macabre Gods, it will give the listener a better experience.

For mature listeners. A complete list of content warnings can be found on the author's website.

Omg this book, it’s official I’m obsessed with Elliot Rose’s why choose romance! I loved vengeful gods and this one was so good. I read the novella and i was so excited to get into it and right away it gets dark and into the secret society world with a sex trafficking business. I felt so bad for the fmc tbh and was happy when she was rescued.

I loved the fmc she was strong despite not understanding the secret society. Now to the three mmc; Hawke, Angel and Grey i love those toured men so much. Angel is the typical boy obsessed and he doesn’t speak but communicates in different ways. Grey is the butcher and he’s violent but in a good way. Hawke is the mmc that runs the club and is into the dom/sub dynamic. I like that though they are morally grey men they still have this sense of justice which is a big part of the book. I also loved how the dynamics in the relationship developed and how each character development and how they got together.

This book is smutty and my girl Pos deserves it🤭. They treated her well and there is public smutty scenes and a particular moment with a blade!🫨. Also it has that micro trope where they don’t kiss on the lips and they want to!! Overall i think both the Noire plot and what the 3 mmc was trying to do was interesting and i love them together. Thanks to Elliot Rose and Luna Literary for this arc for an honest review!

If you loved Vengeful Gods buckle up “little flower” because you are in for a treat. Elliott Rose has really outdone herself with this book, the kink aspect is TOP TIER!

Poe is the FMC who is thrust into a secret society and manages to hold her own. Angel is the big loveable silent sweetheart who falls first. Grey is the possessive, slightly unhinged, dirty talker. Hawke has a strong sense of justice and loves the Dom/Sub dynamic. When the 3 work together phew is it hot.
I don’t want to give too much away with the plot but it’s engaging and has some great twists.

This book has a laundry list of trigger warnings (AKA a delicious menu) that I recommend reading if you haven’t read any of Elliott’s books before.

Whilst this book is an Interconnected Standalone, if you haven’t already read Vengeful Gods, some aspects of the underground society of Anguis probably wont make sense otherwise.

The Novella “Noire Moon” sets this book up and provides some back story about Poe, Hawke, Angel & Grey and the plot of it is referred to in the book a few times.

Thanks to Elliott Rose and Luna Literary for the ARC copy.

Favourite Quotes:

“You want me to f*ck the defiance out of you?”

"An irredeemable asshole, Hawke Calliano most certainly is, but infuriatingly he's also the kind you would crawl over broken glass to defend and pledge yourself to, because I can tell you now, he's one of the best."

“I've got all the time in the world to dish out pleasure for those who deserve it."

"I can't believe you just did that." "The words you're looking for are, thank you, Grey. I'm obsessed with your dick."

“You brighten all of our days, and calm all our nights, beautiful girl. I'm forever falling in love with you, and lucky enough to love these two assholes as well. Let us be the ones who get to love you and care for you the way you do for us. Please.”

Oh. My. GOD. The novella before this book? It did its damn job and then some because I was feral after that. I couldn’t wait to dive into this story, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The dynamics? On point. The characters? Fucking incredible. This book exceeded every single one of my expectations. Not only was it packed with SPICEEEEE 🥵but it also hit me in the feels. The layers, the depth, the complexity of the characters? It was written so damn well.

Poe’s relationships with each of the MMCs was so beautifully flushed out. Every single connection had its own journey, and watching them all come together was everything. The development in each separate dynamic was chef’s kiss. Honestly, it’s rare to love every single MMC in a why choose, but Hawke, Angel, and Grey? The ultimate trio. They each brought something unique, but all had those qualities I live for in my MMCs.

Grey? He was the unhinged, bloodthirsty butcher who was cocky as hell and insanely gorgeous. That man was chaos in the best way.

Angel? Oh my god *MY SHAYLAAAA* Protective, gentle giant, and so deep. Like, seriously, he stole my whole heart, and he was the reason I cried so much during this book. It was so unexpected

And then there’s Hawke. You already know. The confident, dominant, born-to-be-in-charge type who could do no wrong. I was weak at every word. Seriously, hit me with your car, reverse it if you need to, I’ll still thank you. I’m obsessed with him

And let me just say, these men do not play about their aftercare. Hair washing/bath the fucking works.

The spice in this book was absolutely delicious (and wild, some DP moments 😅) and you get a lot of good one on one moments with Poe and her men which I LOVED because I feel like she really built a good foundation for these relationships.

The storyline had me completely hooked, I felt like we really dove deep into the secret Society and Noire House. This book was SO fucking good, and I had a damn good time from start to finish with some (unexpected tears) 10/10 recommend 👏🏻😮‍💨

My why-choose & dark romance loving self thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can always count on Elliott to deliver the spice, she has yet to let me down. Aside from the spice, the plot was gripping and it kept me on my toes. I absolutely devoured this book & left zero crumbs.

Overview:
This book is about Poe who has basically been kidnapped and stripped of the life she once knew. She’s now at the mercy of these 3 men and the secret society they answer to. You can expect suspense, spice and twists that will keep you coming back for more.

Characters:
Poe is the curvy heroine that doesn’t take any sh*t and I loved her character. Her life was flipped upside down but she kept her fire.

Angel. My sweet and silent man. There isn’t a thing I wouldn’t do for this man. He does not speak but he doesn’t even need to. His chapters were my favorite. He has so much depth and emotion & his story just broke me. God I just love him.

Grey aka “The Butcher” is the biggest flirt and I loved how charismatic he was. He is the life of their household which is ironic because he unalives people… often.

Hawke… he was the most difficult of them all. He’s their “leader” and is the one doing most of the prep to get Poe ready for her induction into the society. His fight to suppress his feelings and ahemm urges when it comes to Poe is admirable but her pull is just too strong.

Final takeaway:
Really, the biggest thing you should take away from this is that these men are perfect & you need to read this book.

Thank you Elliott Rose and Luna Literary for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy.

Wow, what an incredible read! I admit, that when I first saw it was over 600 pages, I was a little intimidated. But honestly, those pages flew by—I finished the book in just one day! I could hardly believe it myself. I went in expecting a lot of steamy scenes, and while those were delivered, I was pleasantly surprised by how attached I got to the characters. Each of them is unique, with their past struggles and traumas, but they all come together perfectly. I loved the connections the MMCs had, not just with the FMC, but also with each other. Their bond is deep and strong, which makes the story even more enjoyable.

This book picks up right after Noire Moon, so if you haven’t read that yet, I highly recommend starting there. It's a quick read with less than 100 pages. The story follows Poe after she has an unforgettable night with three masked men. She’s waiting for them to reach out, but after a month of silence, things get interesting when suddenly a man shows up, pulling her into a world filled with lies, betrayal, and secrets.

Poe leads an ordinary life with an everyday job, but everything changes when she meets her three mysterious men. She’s independent, fierce, and brave, and I loved how she cared for each of her men in different ways. Watching her relationships develop throughout the book was such a treat!

As for the guys, they’re perfection. Each one has a unique personality that sets them apart. Angel is a bit of a loner who prefers his own company but has the gentlest heart. I loved how tender he is with Poe. Grey, the butcher, who tortures to extract information, but has a fun, sunny personality! He always knows how to make Poe laugh and brings her favorite coffee. Hawke runs the Noire House. He’s all about control and routine but is also fiercely protective. Despite their differences, they share a common goal—to keep Poe safe and happy.

Overall, this book was an absolute joy to read! The plot is packed with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters are all so complex, with rich layers to their personalities. You can feel the love and protection they have for each other. I loved every minute of it!

Once upon a time before I read this book I thought I knew what spice was. It was a good time 🤣 because now I’m afraid Elliott has once again set the bar so high for dark romance, swords crossing, her boyfriends are boyfriends, spice. And I’ll never be the same again. As someone who gave Vengeful Gods an ♾️⭐️ twice over, I feared that Macabre Gods could never live up to that hype. I was wrong. So wrong.

Before I start, I will say that it is HIGHLY recommended to read the prequel novella to this book, Noire Moon. That book is short, available now, and is going to help you understand a bit of where Poe and her men got their start. It will be VERY helpful to you in understanding this story.

Poe has essentially been taken from her old life and thrown into a new one at Noire House. Her three men, Hawke, Angel, and Grey are here to help initiate her into the society where she has been purchased from some unknown figure to live out the rest of her days.

It doesn’t take long for you to fall in love with these 4. Poe is struggling with leaving her past behind, this new life, and after what happens in Noire Moon, she also knows how good these 3 men can make her feel. It’s all very confusing for her, and she’s determined to find a way out of this.

Angel, my sweet, silent giant. He doesn’t speak, and his chapters will make you swoon, scream, and kick your feet for him. He truly cares for Poe, even if he has to do his job in initiating her. THIS MAN could not be more wonderful. Elliott truly knocked it out of the park with a compelling character in Angel, and he was absolutely the star of this entire book for me. I loved him. I will love him forever.

Grey and Hawke share very different personalities that both bring a fun, interesting dynamic to their relationships with Poe. They understand her on levels that Angel may not be able to. Hawke, our DADDY. He runs the show. Both in their relationship, and in Noire House. This man TAKES CHARGE and it was so hot to experience. Grey is our “Ky” of the group. He’s fun. He’s murderous. He’s Posessive, obsessive, and he doesn’t mind getting a little dirty 🩸 if you know what I mean. YUM.

This book was SPICY. And all the spice was memorable. Delicious, and actually very sweet. You could really feel all the emotions in each scene, and the group scenes will have you wondering “WAIT, HOW IS THAT POSITION POSSIBLE?!” 🤭🤣 but alas, they all have a great time. Because it’s Elliott level spice. And that’s all you need to know.

I’ll love them forever. I’m never forgetting them, and if you’re looking for a Dark, Spicy, Swords Crossing, Secret Society / Sex Club, Why Choosing, Plus Sized FMC who owns her sh*t, good time? This is exactly the book for you. I’ll never NOT recommend Elliott or these books for all of my Dark Romance girlies. They’re phenomenal. No notes. No words.

First of all, HAWKE MF CALLIANO ILY ILY ILY ILY!!! l! Secondly, Port Macabre fans we are soooooo back baby 🗣️

these new dynamics between Poe and her three guys has me drooling tbh. This follows the events of Noire Moon, with Poe being dragged into the dangerous world of the Anguis.

these four had some insane chemistry. I love that Elliott’s why choose books aren’t afraid to spread the love around between characters. Each of her mmc’s have a special connection with not only Poe, but each other. Even when it’s not entirely sexual in nature for the guys, their love for each other has my heart aching 🥹

I was on the edge of my seat for most of this ride, despite knowing it’ll be a HEA lol

Thank you to Elliott Rose and Luna Literary for the eARC!

Ugh, Angel has my heart. That sweet, mute, gentle giant sure knew how to tug at my heart strings. He was the perfect caretaker and protector of Poe. Whenever he silently communicated with Poe using gestures indicating that his heart was hers I melted. His relationship with Grey was sweet as well, they looked after each other.

Grey is very charming for someone who goes by the name butcher because of what he does to evil people. He has a soft side as well and would do anything for those he loves even though his been physically scarred in the past and unable to grasp love anymore.

Hawke is the alpha who seems cold and distant but he’s really just trying to save innocent lives and protect those near and dear to him. Once he opened up and allowed himself to indulge in the chemistry they all shared he was finally happy. I enjoyed his dirty talk and ability to set a group scene.

Even though they all form a close knit bond as time progresses, there’s this doom that they know is coming because she doesn’t belong to them. The build up to it was great and it showed just how far each of them were willing to go for one another.

If you love why choose books, I think you’d enjoy this one and the secret society aspect of it.

This was greatly disappointing
Reading the novella made me jump straight into the book, because that one was promising but this book just let me down.
It’s stupid man, dk how they all fell in love.
There was no chemistry and no depth to the characters what so ever.
Also there is nothing to the story besides the main male characters ‘training’ her and then suddenly falling in love. The whole sex slavery trope was immensely ignored until the last 20%. That too very sparse.
No such bg story on the characters, i seriously had no tell on them. Knew hardly anything about their pasts that are apparently so messed up.

I’m sorry I’m ranting but it just pissed me off.

Sinister, Seductive, and Utterly Addictive

Elliott Rose delivers another darkly compelling story that pulls you deep into the twisted underbelly of the Anguis. If you love morally grey characters, intense power struggles, and sizzling tension, this book will have you hooked from the start.

At the heart of it is Poe, a heroine who refuses to break despite being forced into a dangerous world where trust is a luxury she can’t afford.
Then there are her three captors—Angel, the brooding, soft-spoken protector; Grey, the unhinged, possessive mastermind with a filthy mouth; and Hawke, the one with a rigid sense of justice who thrives in control.
These four together are the perfect mix for the perfect “why-choose” dark romance. Angel especially has my heart. I loved his character and I wish I could have more of him 🤍

The plot is gripping, laced with secrets and unexpected turns, but I did find some moments a bit tricky to follow, which slightly took away from the experience. That said, the tension never lets up, and the push-and-pull between Poe and her captors keeps you on edge the entire time.

And the spice…my god, the spice in this book was PERFECT. Not joking, it was majestic and I love every single letter of it. My personal fave was Hawke, but because I love men who want to be in control 👀

Before diving in, be sure to read the trigger warnings.
This book explores dark themes, and while that makes for an intense and thrilling read, it won’t be for everyone. Also, Noire Moon, the prequel novella, provides helpful backstory on the key players and adds depth to the main storyline. So I recommend reading that one first, especially because it’s an incredible book!

Overall, this is a dark, steamy, and intricately layered story that will keep you hooked.
If you enjoy high-stakes power plays, dangerous attraction, and an FMC who refuses to be a pawn, this one is definitely worth the read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Everyone else is loving this, but I’m stuck around 30%, bored out of my mind and really disliking all of the characters. None of the guys seem like they’re worth Poe’s time. They’re hot, that’s about all they have going for them and the only thing she likes about them.

I really hate how they’re just following orders and are treating her like garbage after all the trauma she’s been through. I want to feel like the MMCs know she’s special and are on her side. I was really confused and disappointed that they searched for her for three weeks and saved her solely because it was orders, not because they cared to ever see her again.

Also, I can’t see how Poe is going to go from where she is now to the self-assured powerhouse we meet in Vengeful Gods. It’s weird that this book takes place before that one, and so far the overlapping characters (Poe, Hawke) seem completely different from who we met in VG (in a very negative way).

Right now, I’m really not sure if it’s worth pushing through more of this…

!!Beware of spoilers below!!

**Update: I’ve made it to 45% and am still bored. Literally nothing has happened plot-wise in the last 200+ pages. Angel is decent now. Grey is okay I guess, but I don’t really feel any connection between them besides lust. Hawke is still way too standoffish.

**Update: 50% now and Angel is just this book’s Raven. This scene after Lilith House is just like when Raven got upset after killing someone in front of Foxglove, and the girls have the same response. Plus, Hawke is a dom with very similar characteristics to Thorne, and Grey desperately wants to be Ky but isn’t quite charming enough. Maybe I would enjoy this more if I hadn’t just re-read VG, but right now this feel like a knockoff of her first book and that lack of originality is a total buzzkill. She didn’t create anything new with these personalities, which is a huge letdown.

**Update: 70% and she just read text messages that finally revealed the truth to her and made her run away from one of the men… EXACTLY like what happened to Foxglove in the last book. Everything about this is a poorly done retread of VG!!

**Update: 80% in and there’s still no plot in sight

**94%: Emerald? Like, Foxglove’s best friend, Emerald? The plus size model is secretly an assassin? And I guess Angel’s sister? I am so confused right now.

**96%: Are you freaking kidding me? They’re really doing the thing where they say they love her but push her away “for her own good” this far into things??

**I made it to the end. It was 600+ pages with no plot. So much of the story was vague… the back stories for Grey and Angel were alluded to for a sentence and then never brought up again. We only know Hawke’s story from Vengeful Gods; it also only got glossed over here.

I never really understood the stakes in this book. There were no set tasks that had to be done in a certain timeline to complete the initiation, so we had nothing to judge how far along Poe was in the process. Poe never met any of the other initiates, and we never met anyone really in charge of things, just some shadowy “them” who were calling the shots. Vitto was mildly creepy but never amounted to anything. The story just oh so slowly meandered along, and I was incredibly bored.

Andreas was a lame villain for the story. We already know from Vengeful Gods that he’s dead, so there’s no tension there. He also didn’t show up enough in this book to really carry weight. Also, in VG, Thorne said multiple times that they wanted to kill Andreas but someone else beat them to it. Was that all just a lie? Lack of continuity? I’m not sure, but they definitely made a deal with Emerald to get the job done that night, so Thorne knew exactly what happened.

All in all, this was a huge disappointment. I didn’t connect with these characters and never really felt their relationships were based on more than just lust. The plot was non existent, the book is waaay too long, and the spice just doesn’t matter when you don’t like the characters.

That was fabulous! Freaking loved Angel, he's exquisite. Grey's words make my body tingle in the best way. Hawke is a force to be reckoned with and I'm here for it. Poe is Queen and I loved reading her journey. She fights and loves hard.
You should definitely read Noire Moon before Macabre Gods. I liked that this story stands alone from Vengeful Gods, but how there were connections that tied things together.
And honestly, we're here for the spice, which was hawt. There were some choice scenes that I'll be reminiscing in for days to come.

This book was the perfect blend of spice and plot. So much was happening, with the guys, their relationship with Poe, and between them, the whole kidnapping and then the rest of the fuckery that was going on in Noire House.

Angel, my sweet baby. I'll protect this man from anything. His mind, his shows of love, how much he cares! I loved him from the very first moment and not once was I disappointed by him.
Grey, the brat that you are. He charmed me even when I didn't want to like him. His attitude took a minute for me to understand because the poor boy had some trauma. Once I saw him, really saw him, I forgave and forgot anything I could not have liked about him once.
Hawke mf Calliano. This man and I have beef. I would hate fuck him any day, but I would smack him around too. I thought his brother was an ass, but he takes the cake. This man made my eye twitch and I wanted to hit him and kiss him at the same time.

Poe, beautiful and resilient Poe. I probably would have crumbled in her shoes, but she swam on and found her place in the darkness, fought for herself and her men, and deserves all the happiness in the world.

That being said, and as much as I love anything Elliott writes, the possessiveness and desire to keep Poe with them took too long for my liking and I felt like they were just giving up on her. That made me feel a little sad and not like this as much as possible.
Still, this book is a must-read, and not only this book but also, the whole series. And if you ask me, anything that Elliott writes.

Esmeralda is a bad bitch and I need more of her ASAP.

I'm so glad I got an e-arc, thank you, Elliott and Luna Literary!!

After the delicious encounter from Noire Moon, Poe has been thrown back into her normal life without so much as a peep from her men… until she receives a notification that they’re finally reaching out. However, not all is as it seems being thrown back into the world of House Noire, and Poe goes through turmoil and trials in order to be initiated into the society. Her attempt to reconnect with her three masked men isn’t as easy of a road as she hoped, and a dark presence on the periphery continues to threaten the happiness she’s so eager to obtain.

Wooooooooooooow wow wow. I really didn’t think there was going to be a book that would beat Vengeful Gods on the spice scale but, *waves hand towards Macabre Gods* HERE WE ARE! This book was probably the spiciest book I’ve ever read, littered with delicious snacks of MMCs, an FMC who goes THROUGH IT, and a darkness which permeates the entire storyline. Our girl Poe is so strong and I’m so glad we got to see her origin story in the Port Macabre world. Also… can I just hold Angel? That man’s backstory is similarly so tragic and shows enormous growth. Elliott’s characters are always incredible, and this was no different.

What I Loved About This Story:
✨MMFM Dark Romance
✨Interconnected standalone with the other Port Macabre Stories
✨Masked men
✨Secret society
✨Mutual healing & growth
✨FMC with INCREDIBLE strength and will
✨Her boyfriends are also boyfriends
✨The spice was, quite frankly, ABSOLUTELY FILTHY! And we love it 😈

I honestly don’t know how to write a review for this one. I’ve been thinking about it since I finished it a few nights ago, which is a good thing. What I know for a fact is that I absolutely LOVED the relationship(s) between Poe, Hawke, Grey, + my Angel bb. Seeing how they ALL progressed felt so natural + right.

Before diving into this thicc beast, I only read Noire Moon (the prologue novella). After speaking to a few booksta friends, I think it’s important to read Vengeful Gods first in order to have some of the world building established. Since I didn’t have that story under my belt, I really didn’t know where MG was headed… After I loved NM, I assumed where the story would go (which is on me), but it did NOT go anywhere near where I thought it would.

The book starts slow. The first third was difficult for me. I didn’t love the plot outside of their relationship if I’m being honest. Thankfully this was one of those books where their relationship (which of course included the spice) was greater than the underlying plot so my overall enjoyment of the story prevailed.

Lastly, there was no need for this to be 600+ pages, IMO.

Before diving into this thrilling journey, be sure to listen to Noire Moon, the prologue novella that perfectly sets the stage. In this book, you'll be pulled deeper into the twisted world of the Anguis, a secret society ruled by power, pleasure, and control. Poe is forcefully reintroduced into this dangerous realm, claimed as a possession and compelled into submission by three irresistibly dangerous captors. As the lines between captivity and desire blur, her fight for freedom clashes with a growing, undeniable longing for the very men who stole her life. With the exceptional narrations of Gabriel Spires and Amy Hall, every character's distinct personality shines, increasing the tension and passion that make this a must listen.

Thank you, Elliott Rose and Luna Literary for the ARC/ALC.

This dark why choose will leave have you SWEATING but also kicking your feet like a school girl because when I tell you Hawke, Angel, and Grey will make you blush uncontrollably, I mean it.

Our FMC Poe, is abducted by men impersonating the three masked men she shared a wild, sexy, steamy, and kinky, night at Noire House with.. but THE REAL masked men save Poe and bring her back to live amongst the secret society that is the Angius which is composed of 5 separated households - Noire, Lilith, Elysium, Coronis, & Aeterna House.

Hawke is in charge of training Poe to be a submissive to prepare her for whatever house she is chosen to be placed in, Grey is determined to find who abducted Poe, and Angel is Poe’s shadow, caring for her & bearing a secret he’s fearful Poe won’t forgive him for.

- Domination & Submission ✅
- Knife Play ✅
- MMFM ✅
- Possessive MMC’s w/touch her and die vibes ✅
- Masked Men ✅
- MMC’s “talk her through it” ✅

Poe, Hawke, Angel, and Grey all share the sweetest love for one another in their own individual way, but for some it takes longer to show and admit their love, and when they finally have their “fuck it” moment of expressing their love.. it is very much so worth the wait 😏🔥

Thank you Elliott and Luna Literary for an early copy of this!

This is something more out of my comfort zone as a reader, but I will read anything Elliott writes! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and love this world.

It's dark, and it's mysterious. It kept me guessing and trying to figure things out. And of course since it's Elliott... the spice is SPICING. For such a thick book, I was kept super engaged in the story (I sometimes struggle with this) because the plot was so interesting. Each character was so beautifully written. I found them to all be so well developed and this story really had me feeling their emotions.

Make sure you check TW/CW as again, there are some pretty dark themes! But I cannot wait to go back and read Vengeful Gods now because I need more of this world!

ETA: I also started this via earc and less than halfway through received an early audio copy as well! The narration was FANTASTIC and I highly recommend. It brought a whole new level to the story and the characters really came to life.

I think we all need a little Angel, Hawke and Grey in our lives 😏.

Macabre Gods features Posey, our fierce fmc and our three mmc’s- Grey with the charm, lightheartedness and dirty mouth; Hawke who’s overprotective and strong willed; and Angel, a beautifully silent man with the biggest heart.

The book is filled with a lot of world building, and I’d suggest reading the Noire Moon novella for some extra context on the world and the characters.

ER does a fantastic job writing some of the most smutty, hot scenes but not letting those moments overshadow the plot-it’s perfectly executed.

I can only hope we are getting another book in the Port Macabre world and my fingers are crossed for a certain character who makes a guest appearance in this one 👀.

Thank you Elliott Rose and Luna Literary Management for the arc.

My warning to you ⚠️ don't read while ovulating. This shit is SPICCCCCCY

This book fed my dark romance/why choose/secret society little heart. PLEASE read Noire Moon (novella) first as it is the initial night these characters meet, and it essential for their story.

Posey (Poe) is patiently waiting for her three men to return into her life, only the world she ends up being brought into is much more dark & secretive than she thought.

Our men: Angel, Grey & Hawke. They are very different, all had horrible upbringings, but all have one goal and that's for the initiation of Poe into their world. Angel protects, Grey is the butcher to punish the men responsible for hurting Poe, and Hawke is the man guy to lead the initiation of Poe.

Nothing of this story is what meets the eye. There is so many twists & turns to Poe's HEA with her men.

This book is dark & extremely spicy (MMFM) please check your triggers as well.

Thank you Luna & Elliott for the eARC in exchange for an honest review

I did like this book, but there were some things that bothered me.

1. This book has no business being over 600 pages. Arguably, the only books that should be that long are romantasies due to the world building.
2. The plot is mostly inner dialogue and spicy scenes. No hate on either one of these things, but that’s better suited to a 300 page or less book.
3. Poe, the FMC, copes with everything with s*x. Again, love that for her, but feels like a repetition from the FMC in the previous book. Also, how is she forming any real connections with these damaged, unattainable men if they don’t even really talk?
4. There’s a definite will they or won’t they between two of the MMCs, and that’s a plot point we already read in the previous book.

On a more positive note, I loved the MCs. I wish there would have been more backstory to give them a bit more depth, but you can’t help but fall in love with them anyway. The spicy scenes were hot as hell, which is great, because there’s a lot of them. I loved the twist! Very unexpected and well executed. Overall a bloody, smutty good time.

Thanks to Luna Literary for a copy of this book. All opinions are entirely my own.

Wow! What can I say? I devoured this and it left me still wanting more! Hawke, Grey and Angel are what book ‘boyfriends’ are made of, sweet, tortured and the spicy spice is spicing, damn! 🥵

I would suggest to read Noire Moon first, a small novella that sets the scene for Macabre Gods to come in and hit your heart hard.

Poe is a will written strong and fierce FMC who deserves all the spicy spice given! I’m actually a little jealous she’s able to live out that spicy life!

The world Elliott has created is complex, tortured, full of assholes and yet all works well to make you love and hate people.

My favourite quote though: “You need you to stop f@cking taunting her and make her shatter.” 🥵🔥

These were my first Elliott books and will not be my last. I’m absolutely hooked and she has an extra person to bow at her feet in appreciation, obviously we are not worthy 😍

Firstly, I’d jump in front of a bullet for Angel, and I’d do it gladly. Not that he’d let me. He’s too protective…aah swoon.

Now that the important part is out of the way let me say that I loved Poe and her men. Grey, the unaliver with a filthy mouth liked to poke and prod at people. Hawke, the man in charge who secretly moonlights as a vigilante and Angel, the stoic silent giant with a marshmallow heart. Only for Poe though, and maybe Grey.

A secret society where pleasure and kink rule. The three men have been asked,(forced) to initiate Poe and they realise that maybe they don’t want to give her up. The journey they go on is an entertaining, smutty good ride. I was on board.

Thank you to Elliott Rose and Luna Literary for the arc and this is my honest review.

I really wanted to love this—I really did. And while I liked it, I didn't love it.

After reading Vengeful Gods and absolutely loving it, my expectations were sky-high. Maybe that’s why this one didn’t quite hit the same for me. The writing was solid, as always with Elliott Rose, and the smut was definitely hot, but something about it just didn’t fully click.

Without spoiling anything, there were a few aspects that didn’t work for me, though that’s an entirely personal preference. If I hadn’t read Noire Moon first (which I adored) and already felt connected to these characters, I think I would have struggled to finish this. This is absolutely NOT a standalone novel!

Thank you so much to Luna Literary & Elliott Rose for the ARC!
