Hirai Tarō (平井 太郎), better known by the pseudonym Rampo Edogawa ( 江戸川 乱歩), sometimes romanized as "Ranpo Edogawa", was a Japanese author and critic who played a major role in the development of Japanese mystery fiction.
It was too short. If Ranpo wrote it longer and in more detail, I might love this book more. However, it could make a great movie. There were a lot of horror scenes and to visualize them would make audiences/readers felt these weird moments better.
If you’re looking for a detective story, this one is not for you. The police in the book is kind of useless.
