If The Suit Fits

Rate this book
Picture this.

Your fiancé cheats on you with that skank b*tch Karla from high school in your almost-in-laws’ guest bathroom—the day before your wedding!

Two years later, you’re living your best life, aka: drowning in self-doubt, crippled by the idea of true love, and reeling in toxicity because you refuse to accept a second date, no matter how perfect a guy seems.

Commitment? No thanks.

Tried that. Got the shirt. It’s ugly.

Now your ex is marrying that skank b*tch, and it’s just your (horrible) luck that you’re a bridesmaid.

Sigh.

It doesn’t matter how little dignity you possess these days, there’s no way in hell you’re attending that shit show alone.

So now you need a boyfriend.

Someone who adores you. Someone who looks fantastic in a suit, smiles like the devil himself, and is willing to play along with your ruse.

You need a fake boyfriend.

What’s a nine-page contract, two-thousand dollar deal, and a seven-day house guest between friends?

Sometimes we all need a super quick story to read. That’s what this was. It was cute and fun and really easy to read.
I loved these two mcs! I liked that Mel was “neurospicy” but without being labelled and Nick was accepting of her quirks without question!
If you want a smooth taking swoon worthy MMC- Nick is your man!

Perfect palette cleanser!

Ahhh Nick and Mel! Oh how I fell in love with these two! Mel is so relatable and real. Her and Nick are complete opposites but so perfect for each other. Nick has a way of letting Mel be Mel with her neurospicy ways while also encouraging her to stand up for herself. He shows her how to love herself and that she is worthy and enough just as she is. Such a fabulous short, laugh out loud, swoon worthy standalone by Emilia Finn!

This is a story that warms the heart and contains a message that we all need to hear… you are enough. When Melanie’s ex-fiancé invites her to his wedding to the woman he cheated with and makes her a bridesmaid, Melanie needs to find a date so she isn’t alone. Against her best friend’s wishes, she takes out an ad in the paper offering $2000 for a week of time and an arm to hold at said wedding. Nicolas answers that ad and over the course of a week, helps boost Melanie’s confidence and tries to make her see that she doesn’t have to be the pushover that her high society family has made her be.

I love Emilia Finn and pretty much everything she writes, so I know I come into her stories with a bias, but I honestly believe they really ARE that good. This one was a freebie in her newsletter for Valentine’s Day and the message of self love was just as powerful as the romance and chemistry between Mel and Nick. If you are looking for a new favorite author, I would suggest you read this book to get a feel for her writing style, then clear your calendar because you will want to do a deep dive into the worlds of Ms Finn and there are a lot of stories in your future!

Karla sucks. She's awful and deserves a man like the one she married. But Nick constantly putting her down to build Melanie up is succchhh an ick. I don't understand what it is with EF and writing her men to be gross toward women. The only two exceptions are Malone and Fletcher; and even then they throw up orange-red flags here and there.

This was an ok read. It was easy and quick and a good pallet cleanser if you need one. Even though it deals with self worth, it was pretty lighthearted. It did kind of feel like an OTT motivational speech though.

I will admit that while I thought the twist reveal was kinda cute, it was also kinda off. Why didn't nick just reach out to Melanie and be honest.

Unfortunately I think any series/book by EF that isn't Mayet related is not for me.

This little heartwarming rom-com is everything. It’s a quick read to be sure but I still experienced the full range of emotions with this story. It’s filled with heart, heat and humor. Of course there’s a conflict with a dash of heartache too. Mel and Nick are ridiculously likable and relatable main characters. Everyone needs a Nick Ramos in their life. (Me. I’m everyone.) It was so awesome watching Mel silence those negative voices in her head and take her power back. You could feel the chemistry between Mel and Nick from the beginning too. Ah, I was rooting for them so hard. My only complaint is that I wanted more! This story ended rather abruptly and left me craving more but I was still kicking my feet with delight at the end.

"If only we could see, as clearly as we do in books, that the bullies, those who try to stomp on us, are truly the unworthy." - Emilia Finn
I think everyone needs a Nock in their life, and an Anna too. Mel and Nick are opposites in every way. She's the shy, "upper crust debutante," sweet, hardworking, mouse. He's the down on his luck, gorgeous, confident, loud, handyman, rented boyfriend. Every time they interact he bigs her up. Every time. It's not fake talk, it's always real. When "its" ugly, he tells her it's ugly. When she's knocking herself with her words or thoughts, he's there bigging her up with his words and actions. Gah!
I love the story, I love Nick (obvs), and Mel, and Anna. The End was abrupt and startled me but the Authors Note afterwards was healing. Loved!

I love this book! Mel had my heart from the start. Let’s not forget best friend Anna! We all need an Anna in our life. And OMGGG that Nick!!!! He is indeed swoon worthy by all means. I had a feeling as I read along, that something was up with him. The reveal of that was perfect.

Nick is absolute book boyfriend/husband material. His level of love and concern for her is something we all deserve. He helped her grow and believe in herself.

Mel’s turnaround, self growth, and empowerment was beautiful. I will admit, her snarky side made me chuckle often. I felt it all with this book. Laughed, cried, got mad, and enjoyed an Awe moment.

I loved it and think you all will too. Give this a read, I do recommend!!

𝐈𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐬 by Emilia Finn was exactly what I needed… a fake dating romance full of laughs, emotional undertones, the perfect amount of spicy chemistry, and a surprising twist as the icing on the sweetest cake! Nick Ramos was my ideal book boyfriend with his sharp wit, hilarious one-liners, protective nature, and amazing family! He’s exactly the support Mel needed when facing her former cheating ex and the judgmental society bullies! Mel was relatable and lovable! You never know where you might find love or who might inspire you to find your voice!! Check Emilia Finn’s social media for how to download this free book!!

At first, I didn’t connect with the characters and knowing this was a short read, I was concerned, however, I did come to really appreciate them and the story flowed through nicely!

I liked the outcome of the book and thought that the small twist at the end was believable! However, I don’t understand why Nick didn’t just tell Mel the truth to begin with?

I liked Nick’s “no f’s given” attitude and his dominance. I liked Mel’s nervousness, because to me, that was relatable.

If you want a quick, spicy read, pick this up!

This book was a fun, quick read. If you want laughs, smooth talking and spice, look no further than Nick Ramos.

The FMC Mel is beyond awkward and I loved her. She is shy, all about routine and staying in her comfort zone. On the other hand Nick gives zero f’s about what other people think and does what makes him happy. The man is sexy as sin but the biggest cinnamon roll for Mel. He makes it his mission to encourage Mel to be herself, which is above and beyond his hired fake boyfriend duties 😉

I pretty much laughed and swooned the entire time reading this.

This is my first book by Emilia Finn (thank you Amazon for the recommendation). I was literally laughing out loud on the first couple of pages! I freaking LOVE Anna! Mel too, of course, but Anna's sense of humor? I adore her. And I agree, we all need a Nicolas! **swoon**

I really really REALLY wish this was in audio format. With the surprise ending I want to go back and reread right away with the newfound knowledge I have, and if I were able to listen, I might actually get work done as well.

Off to start on Anna's story now!

I absolutely devoured this standalone from Emilia Finn! Nick Ramos is truly the ultimate book boyfriend. He’s Mel’s cheerleader at all times. She just takes a hot minute to figure it out. The chemistry between them is glorious, and that twist is just... awesome! 100% loved them!

"Thank you for teaching me to love myself again. I’m not there yet, but I have direction now, and because of you, I know what it looks like. So when I find it, I’ll know. I’ll think of you.”

I LOVED this book and even teared up at the end. Everyone needs a cheerleader in their corner, someone to help override all the negative thoughts we have of ourselves. Nick was swoony, Mel was relatable, and the Ramos clan was the embodiment of love and home. I hope someday we get to see an epilogue where Mel is comfortable with herself, successful, and has built a family with Nick to love and be loved by.

Emilia has a way of creating the best book boyfriends. Just when you think you have a favorite she being in Nicolas Ramos. Nicolas is funny and witty and treat Mel like the princess she is. He helps heal her from a lifetime of doubt. I absolutely loved this book and would love to have Anna talk to Emilia and have her write a just for fun book about her.

Emilia does it again, giving us another man who soothes our soul. I loved the story of Mel and Nick. The way he built up her confidence and self-love was just so sweet. It's easy to let the outside world dictate how we think about ourselves, and he helped to remind us that we need to block out those opinions and look inside ourselves. Hoping this accidental book ends up becoming a series so we can revisit Mel and Nick with their family and friends.

Every woman needs a Nick in her life. The impact that you make on a complete stranger truly can shape your future. From the first encounter I felt that deep down there was something deeper with Nick and as the story progressed I found myself crying and cheering for this couple. Thank you Emilia for giving us something we didn't even know we needed.

Aaaaallll the fuzzy feels. Omg. I loved this so much. Such relatable characters.
For an “accidental” book (as stated by the author in her newsletter), it’s so good. Nicolas Ramos didn’t just snag Melanie’s heart. He took mine, too. 🥰
Truly did love this short little read. If you like romcom-type books that leave you feeling all ooey-gooey, you’ll love it, too.

Aww I love Nicholas Ramos. This book was so cute - Mel hires Nick to be her date for her ex’s wedding. Nick turns out to be way more than Mel expected but he makes her not such a scaredy cat.

And that ending!?! 😍😍😍

This stand alone by Emilia Finn is hilarious and heartwarming, with a positive message of "you are enough, and then some." As with all of Emilia's books, I quickly fell in love with these two and could not put it down. Nick and Mel are fabulous, and I need more!

Short and sweet novella - ending suffered a bit just trying to wrap it all up but I liked how it all came together, just was a bit rushed. Nick was a words of affirmation king - Mel still has some growing to do but that’s the issue with shorter stories we just hope she does :)

This could have been a five-star book if there was just a little bit more at the end to wrap it up in a shiny bow.. I'm hoping the author gives a little more insight to these characters, maybe in another book.
