I love this series. I just wish that Ms. McKeehan would write quicker :-)
Pelican Pointe is growing at the beginning of the series it was a dead end town going nowhere but now it is all coming back to its former glory. All with the help of the resident ghost Scott Phillips.
For a small town there are a lot of secrets that are buried and need to be aired to be put to rest.
The school is being redone and Julianne is moving down to Pelican Pointe and is going to be the new principal. We met Julianne when Brent Cody's book where is Mum tried to set them up but they are more like brother and sister than anything else. Julianne needs a fresh start to move on from the death of a loved one.
Ryder is bitter and has trust issues as while on a tour in Afgan he was scammed and scammed big. He loses everything but is dragged out to Pelican Pointe by Cord and Nick.
This isn't just about romance although it is the main focal point but throughout the renovation of the old school. Locked boxes are found that point to a couple that apparently left but there is more to it then we think.
Ms. McKeehan already builds on a fantastic series and brings more and more people to Pelican Pointe.
Last Chance Harbor by Vickie McKeehan is another action packed, hold on to your seat kind of story. She is a great author that gets you hooked early on and you will have a hard time putting this book down until you finish it. This is the 6th book in the Pelican Pointe series. As in the first five books, this is a story of the people of Pelican Pointe. We meet people from the 1st five books and some new people.
This book is mostly about Julianne and Ryder. Julianne is a teacher who has been hired to be the principal of the old school in Pelican Pointe that is being renovated and reopened after many years of being closed. Julianne has just moved to town and purchased a home and is rehabbing it with the help of many of the residents of Pelican Pointe. Ryder is a carpenter, also new to town, who is working on the renovations of the school, working on a farm and helping with Julianne’s renovations.
But this book isn’t just a love story. There were some items found during the school’s renovations that get many of the residents involved in the investigation that seems to center around some former and present residents of Pelican Pointe. And then there is the ever present Scott Phillips, the resident ghost who we first met in book 1 Promise Cove.
I hope there are more books coming in this series because I need to see what happens with a few of the other residents.
Ryder and Julianne Seek Shady Con Women! 4***** Spoiler Alert
With Ryder recovering from his Bethany hoodwink disaster, he relocated to PP to assist Cord on Taggert's Farm while he helped to rebuild the PP Elementary School. On site, he met Julianne D., the new principal, and lady salvager/ house flip guru as she purchased and remodel the deserted home of Cooper, Drea, and Caleb Jennings. The cold case of their father's disappearances was finally solve with Julianne's persistence and Brent Cody' s perseverance wrapping up not one but two sociopathic women crime sprees.
Great plot, and amazing character development. Love Julianne go-get it attitude for her house, her dad, her new school, and her new town. Even Scott trusts her to do right by them. The theme of crime and kharma as complementary forces in this novel of delayed justice. A MUST-READ!

When you are reading through a series, like I often do, you keep wondering, what else could the author have up her sleeve? You are told in Creative writing classes, conflict makes excellent fiction..Guess what? Vickie McKeehan writes excellent fiction. The reader is keep wondering what else can emerge in sedate Pelican Pointe. So far, we have unearthed a serial murderer, cons and scoundrels and a benevolent spiritwalker who cannot remain in the background. Julieanne and Ryder didn't stand a chance once Scott decided their future was in his hands. BTW, Hutton seems just as much a chatterbox as her dad.
Last Chance Harbor (A Pelican Pointe Novel Book 6)
The love story of Juliana and Ryder. Pelican Pointe is reopen their school so they hire Juliana to be the principal. She come the the school site and they give her a beautiful box that has a blood Stan piece of cloth in it. It open up a new mystery of who shots it was and is that person still alive? Ryder has sworn off women because his last girlfriend robbed him of everything he own. Can Juliana change his mind? Great mystery.
This story is about Ryder, a construction worker, and Julianne, the new school principal as well as being mentioned in the previous book. There are several stories within the story which is always a fascinating mix. I like that some of the previous characters show up and that the author gives clues to new stories yet to come.
When julianne decided to take the job for principal she couldnt wait to start fresh. Then she found Ryder and at first couldnt sand him but eventually they were thinking alike. Then the big mystery cam with little boxes all over with bloody squares of a tshirt. While julianne figured that out Ryder needed to find the woman that took everything from him.
This is the story of Julianne and Ryder; the building of a friendship and the growing of love. It is also the story of Scott Phillips the Ghost of Last Chance Harbor. Enjoy!
All six books that I've read have been so interesting that I didn't want to lay the books down until I'd read the last word . I enjoyed the characters, the settings, and the plots are spellbinding. Thanks for writing them.
This one was AMAZING! Each story in this book was so thrilling and heart warming, despite the evil. The joy, the romance, all of it thrown together made for a beautiful tale. And I loved Scott's message at the end, it brought tears to my eyes.
Last Chance Harbor is book six in the series by Vickie McKeehan. It is a wonderful book and the characters are realistic. Twenty years ago, Layne and Brooke met as usual beneath the Smuggler’s Pier so they could be alone. Brooke lived at home so they could not get there and the Layne was married so they couldn’t go there. The same argument was thrown around. Are they running away or not? Brooke wanted to go that night; but Layne could not leave his children in the hands of that old evil person, his wife. He loved his children more than that. They didn’t hear the person on the rocks until it was too late and heard the .38 until it was too late. Twenty years later, finds Ryder McLacklin working on the demolition of the elementary school. He finds it steady employment and a good job. He also works at the Organic farm making his life a string of long days and nights. He hoped to be chosen to work on the museum after this job came to an end. He was thinking this might be a good town to settle down in. Julianna Dickinson had been employed as principal for the new school. She had already begun the process of hiring new employees after her own job teaching in a nearby town. She had also decided to try to purchase a rundown house in town and redo it before school was out so she could move into it. She managed to purchase the Richmond house and started renovation. A slew of people from town came to help her in the demolishment of the interior. However, the renovation really was left up to Julianna and her father. That meant she and her father were there every weekend. Julianna and Ryder met when she was called to the school site to look at a box they found. Taking it home with her, she opened it and found a blood stained piece of a shirt inside the lining. The other things were baseball cards, cars, seashells, an old deed, and a college ring. However, she called Brent Cody who was sheriff and he came to get it. Who would hide a box of trivia in an elementary school? When they found more boxes, the questions mounted. Could they solve this mystery?
I forgot one of the most reoccurring, intriguing and influential characters, how could I have done that?!?
We all need a Scott Phillips in our lives -- even in the neighborhood. He is by your side when you are troubled and can help you figure out solutions, always has advice and is on the inside track where no one else can be. The problem is Scott never reveals he knows insider information. He is Pelican Pointe's most permanent resident.
I thoroughly enjoy the freshness this series has. It's well written and has beautifully developed characters you get to know a little at a time --just like you would in real life. When you want to be friends with a character from a novel, you know that part was perfectly written!
This was the sixth book in the Pelican Pointe series, and the characters in the town are like a bunch of old friends by now. It's nice that their stories continue, along with the new love interests Ryder and Julianne. He came to town to make a new start after the woman he thought he loved stole everything he owned, and Julianne is moving to town to help re-open the school that closed many years ago. This book has romance, a ghost, and a mystery, so it's not your typical romance novel. I liked it a lot and would highly recommend it.
This book has the familiar elements of the first 5 - New characters moving to Pelican Pointe, falling in love, starting new businesses, breathing new life into the little town, plus a healthy dose of mystery to solve - all under the guidance of the town spiritwalker.
Unlike the other stories, I really disliked the main character in this one. Such a know-it-all busybody!! But even at that, the author did an excellent job creating a believably flawed character.
I read the blurb about the book, the mystery aspect sounded great. I had not read any previous Pelican Pointe books and I won’t read anymore after this. The insta love between Julieann and Ryder was unbelievable. In the beginning she was always biting off his head no matter what he said and the next minute she is wanting to kiss him and out of the blue she wants to sleep with him? There were too many stories going on at the same time. Maybe that’s how all the other books were written? I really only finished because I wanted to see the mystery be solved.
Great read! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Hated for it to end! One thing that threw me though was when Julianne was walking along a path and found "ripe blackberries in February"!
Such a good book! All the Pelican Pointe novels are connected with characters and locations, but each can be read as a standalone. Two people who have been disappointed and hurt in the name of love, come together to help each other, and to solve a twenty year old mystery. They will encounter many bumps in the road, and have to come to terms with the resident ghost, Scott Phillips.
Great chemistry between Julianne and Ryder. The rest of the storyline was not as well developed as in the previous books. As usual, a great epilogue ending with Scott's note (my favorite part in all of the Pelican Pointe series).
