This is the third edition of this book. Since Embers and Shadows became Bound by Prophecy, I decided to give book two a matching makeover. So, Lost and Eternal will now be called... What Darkness Binds. I’m so excited about this change—it brings consistency and a stronger sense of connection between the books while staying true to the stories’ themes.
I’m A. Jean—though you can just call me A.J. I’m a quirky, slightly odd woman with an unstoppable passion for storytelling, a strong aversion to in-person interactions, and a talent for being as awkward as humanly possible. Living with ADHD, a touch of autism, a sprinkle of depression, and a handful of other health challenges, I’ve learned to channel my energy into crafting fantastical worlds and bringing unforgettable characters to life.
My writing journey has been anything but straightforward. It started with some cringeworthy fan fiction as a teenager, followed by half a book in my early twenties that remains unfinished, and eventually evolved into playing around with a new book idea at 30. By 31, I decided to finally sit down and write it, scribbling bits and pieces on my phone and filling in the gaps on my computer. After a lot of trial and error (and plenty of caffeine), I completed my first book at 32 and chose to self-publish. Why? Because publishers don’t usually take chances on brand-new authors writing series—and thus, the world of Shadows of the Faye was born.
From dark romance to epic fantasy, I thrive on getting lost in imaginary universes—whether they’re my own creations or the work of other authors. Those are my happy places. Just don’t ask me who my favorite author is; my brain tends to short-circuit the moment I’m put on the spot. Socially, once I feel comfortable around someone, I’m loud, awkward, and unapologetically clumsy—but I like to think that’s part of my charm. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking...
When I’m not writing, you’ll find me tending to my animals, spending time with family, or soaking up inspiration from the quiet beauty of rural living. My farm life keeps me grounded, even as my imagination constantly whisks me away to magical worlds filled with intrigue and adventure. I live on a farm-like setup with chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, cats, and whatever else decides to wander in.
A Quick Note About Me as an Author:
I’m not a fan of perfect characters. You know the ones—flawless, unrelatable, and without a hint of complexity. To me, flawed characters with quirks, struggles, and messy backstories are what make a story truly worth reading. Whether it’s a Faye princess or a bada** bounty hunter, every character I write is imperfect in their own unique way.
Because of this, my books always include detailed content and trigger warnings at the beginning, with an even more thorough version available on my website. I believe readers deserve transparency so they can fully immerse themselves in the journey ahead.
At the moment, I have two series underway, with plenty more ideas brewing in my head. I’d love for you to join me on this literary adventure as we explore new worlds and uncover unforgettable tales. From the magical universe of Shadows of the Faye to the mysterious realm of the Slayer’s Descent series—and beyond—I promise my stories will captivate, enthrall, and maybe even surprise you.
Lost and Eternal Shadow of the Faye book 2 by A Jean plunges readers back into the richly detailed world she has crafted, continuing the enthralling saga of Aurora and her five mates. More than just a romance, this is a high-stakes adventure, weaving together intricate world-building with deeply developed, unforgettable characters.
The book invites readers to lose themselves in a world where love, loyalty, and courage are the ultimate weapons against the encroaching darkness. It is a story of sacrifice and hope, where the power of connection may be the only thing that can save the world from eternal oblivion.
Oh my gosh, this just keeps getting better and better. The world building, character development, and the storyline! I cannot wait for book 3.
