Major navigates the gritty streets of Soufield, haunted by abandonment issues that fuels his mistrust. Tormented by an inability to express love, he maintains a guarded heart until he can no longer keep his feelings at bay.
Sienna is forced to confront the ghosts of her past. Cowering into a corner had been her defense over the years until she feels compelled to peel back the layers of her scars. Feeling disregarded by an emotionally distant Major, she embarks on a journey of healing and self-discovery.
Will they shatter the invisible chains connecting them to pain or let fear dictate their fate?
Both abandoned as children & left to figure it out. The title is fitting for the story. We learned a little bit of Major & Sienna’s dynamic in the first book (Insomnia). I was def side eyeing Sienna in that one lol Finally hearing & understanding what she went through broke my heart into pieces 💔 With learning more about Major’s situation I felt for him as well.
With that being said, he really was terrible lmaoooooo To be honest , I didn’t want them back together 🤷🏽♀️ He needs counseling, therapy or whatever. They both need some more healing. A year ain’t enough lol
I loved Sienna growth ❤️ She did put her foot down with Major a little bit lol Overall I’m excited to get the next Mercie brother story. Maybe Shy’s?!?!?!?
I loved this book! Whew! 😅 if I didn’t have to pause for work midway through, I definitely would have finished in one sitting. Sierra and Major’s story had my chest tight and my tear ducks ready to explode at any given moment. I loved how the title gave just enough insight on the story. But I never imagined that Sierra went through so much turmoil!! And don’t get me started on Cilla because she PMO to the highest level of pissivity, 😩! My fave character was definitely grandpa!! We love an OG! The growth in this author’s writing was so evident.. keep going, because I’m seated and ready for what’s next!
I truly appreciate Major & Sienna finding peace, healing, and respect for their selves, before coming together. Sienna realized that changing your environment, surroundings, experience, and view of self is key to self-love! It was beautiful to witness her growth into womanhood. That brotherly love Major has is so refreshing, and for them to support this bond with Sienna gave a validation he thought he needed. This read showed how parents' decisions impact the lives of their children well into their adulthood. Sometimes blood doesn't run deep enough. 💚💜💛
I love a good redemption! That is exactly what this read gave, love redeemed! Major and Sienna had to grow up, do better for themselves and each other before coming back to make it work. Five stars! 🥰
I just love these brothers! In the first book Major came off a bit scary but he’s really a sweetheart once you get to know him. The author does a beautiful job of pealing back the layers and giving the reader a chance to understand him fully and what he’s been through to bring him to this point. Siena, I really didn’t see it for her in the first book. When she met her grandfather I got up and sat in my bed and was filled with so much anxiety. Wow let’s just say that part of the story had me on edge.
This is an exceptionally beautiful story and I downloaded it immediately after it was released. I love how the author showed the development of each main character and how they matured individually as well as collectively. Only issue I had was I think that a few more examples should have been included of how mean Major was to her. If a reader didn’t read the first book I don’t think they would fully understand how badly Major treated Sienna. For me, I read the first book twice so I’m fully aware. Other than that This was excellent, I purchased immediately. I can’t wait for the other brothers.
So I normally don’t reads books where smashing family is involved. It’s instantly an DNF, but this one pulled me in. I understood where Sienna was coming from. I’m happy Major realized he played a role in everything that was going on as well. Villa actually did Si a favor calling her grandad but then that stuff she said to her toward the end was foul!! At first I thought calling her grandad was a huge mistake but it turned out to be the best thing ever for her. Man was I rooting for her. Her mom was straight trash! I’m happy she heard Duke before anything went down, he almost made me believe his apologies but he was sorry she heard what he said. That’s all. I’m happy Major and Sienna got it together. He really cleaned up his act for her. Despite everything that happened, she was down for him 100% and just thought that was the only way to get by. My heart goes out to her. ♥️
This was like. 4.5 only because I preferred Poppa and Nae 😍. However, I was pleasantly surprised to get the follow-up with Major and Si.
Their relationship drove me up a wall😡. I wanted Si to have a backbone so badly but I get that her childhood abuse caused her to have low self-esteem.
I would've loved to see more of her past but I guess it would've been too traumatic?
And I knew Duke would be a joke😩. He was too good to be true.
I'm guessing Shy's story will be the next book? I hope so ... because it's been a year with no release 😩Brielle when will we get the next book?👀
I liked that we got to know more about the brothers and see how close they are.
I enjoyed the themes of reconnecting with their parents (Major's dad and Si's mom) I loved that Si took therapy sessions at church. And her attempt to focus on herself despite Major dominating her entire world🙄.
This was well-written and I'm excited to see what's next. 😁
Brielle Hall has done it again with the second book for the Mercie brothers. We got glimpses of Major and Sienna in the first book but their love story started off unconventional. Time has passed since the last book and we see how they both have evolved once this story starts. This was some of the best character development I’ve read about. I’m ready for the next one.
This book was written well and flowed well. Major and Sienna was two broken souls who bonded on the past traumas. Initially I wasn’t sure if I wanted the two to be together or permanently separated, but I was pleased with the changes that they made to mend their relationship. Both had mothers that should have strung up. My favorite character was Sienna’s grandfather.
One of the best urban romance books I’ve read in a while! I enjoyed the growth of both characters. I only wish that the FMC wouldn’t have folded so quickly, but overall great story. Can’t wait to read about the other brothers👀
Toxicity at its best! I never met such an unhinged family and parents that were so much worse. This was a great story of overcoming and healing, and no matter how crazy it got, the love and loyalty shunned through it all. Great read.
