Charming Irish #5

Hushed Harmony

Rate this book
Three chords can ruin a man if you hit them right.

I spend my life chasing sound. Grit, feedback, the moment a crowd holds its breath.

Fireball is the only thing I’ve built without it turning on me. Everything else stays locked tight.

Then Linus O’Donnell comes back.

My first real love.
The one man who knows exactly how I break.
The one I never stopped wanting.

Avonna doesn’t need an entrance.
She coaxes me past my defenses into truth.
Raw. Unfiltered. Impossible to ignore.

What starts as music turns carnal fast.
Late nights. Sweat-soaked rehearsals. Heat carrying into every chord.
Desire doesn’t divide. It multiplies.

I want them both.
Bodies. Loyalty. A future. The way we fit once the world goes quiet.

The problem?
It never does.

I lie. I stall. I pretend control is possible.

Some harmonies refuse to stay hushed.

Hushed Harmony is a white-hot, polyamorous rockstar romance about identity, obsession, and choosing a love powerful enough to risk everything.

OMG!! ‘Nough Said

Anytime I read a book that is this amazing, I’m always afraid that I won’t do it justice with my review. With this book being the ending in this series this author has outdone herself yet again. This whole series has earned and deserved five stars.

I felt that I was taken on a crazy emotional ride that had me feeling totally invested in Avonna, Linus and Liam’s story. Anytime an author can pull out such dramatic emotions on paper, I will always be a fan of theirs. This was a rock romance book fill with steam, angst and love that was a huge page turner for me.

After reading these books I can only hope that this author will bring more rock romances to my kindle. I highly recommend this book, this series.

What a fantastic, deeply emread! The intertwining of the three lives of Avonna, Liam and Linus is a breathtaking tale of love, loss, denial, courage and determination. I loved how this story was told with the backgrounds of each of our leading characters, and felt such heartbreak and fear for Avonna as she made her stand and took hold of her own future. Equally I felt that the author handled her progression carefully and in time frames that worked. The boys' lives have been equally challenging, albeit in different ways, and the issues they faced held different problems for them to face.
The pace of this book was so good. I found myself completely immersed in the outcomes of each chapter and time jump. The unit they evey created had my both cheering and emotional! What a truly fabulous read

Wow, what an emotional ride you're taking with this story. I couldn't put it down as usual, hooked from word one!!! We learn more about Liam, Linus and Avonna. It was heartbreaking to learn about Avonna's background and where she came from. Loved how she rose from her past & became a stronger person and true to herself. I liked getting to see the things you got a taste of in the other stories from Liam, Linus & Avonna's eyes as well as the full story. Together the three of them are amazing and make a great unit that works for their needs. This story tugged at all my emotions and many times I felt like I was right there experiencing it with them all. Loved this whole amazing series and I am sad to see it end. This is a must read series as well as all of Kaylene's books. You won't be disappointed with this book.

Hushed Harmony by Kaylene Winter is the story of Linus, Liam, and Avonna. Liam is determined to make Fireball successful but, it seems to be an uphill battle. Things have taken a turn for the worse for both him and Linus. But, Linus has a visa issue and the band has issues of its own. Avonna is dealing with her own problems regarding a religious cult. So, everything is spiraling.

All of these characters are endearing in their own unique way. But, what is to come. Can the band be reformed? Can the love be rekindled and expanded upon? Tons of emotion. Huge backstory. This story will hurt your soul…and then bring things back again.

This is a truly fabulous read.

I loved how the three lives of Avonna, Liam, and Linus intertwined, and the balance of love, loss, courage, and growth felt so natural. The pacing was spot on, I was completely immersed with every chapter and time jump. Their found family had me both cheering and emotional by the end.

Couldn’t put it down.

I knew Liam and Linus weren’t done yet. They have so much chemistry. Even though Liam was trying to push him away, Liam couldn’t resist the invite to meet while in Ireland. But Liam can’t ignore the pull to Avonna as well. These three have to find a new normal that works for them in order for everyone to thrive and get what they want!

Absolutely love the telling of the relationship between Linus, Avonna, & Liam. It’s definitely an emotional and interesting experience reading this book. These three characters are definitely made for each other and when they get together the spicy scenes are so hot!! There is so much to this book that it keeps you vested and on the edge of your seat. Liam is stubborn to a fault, he is constantly trying to run from being happy. Linus and Avonna are exactly what he needs to anchor him.- Elizabeth

I haven't read the 4 previous books in this series, which did make me feel a bit left out at times as I never knew the story behind some of the characters mentioned.
So it did take me a bit of time to fully immerse myself into this world that Kaylene Winter has created.
Although it did not stop me from enjoying the story for what it was.
This is quite an emotional story between Linus,Avonna and Liam their three way relationship was quite beautiful and angsty.
Avonna's past was heartbreaking
Kaylene's writing is wonderful and well structured with well thought out characters.
The struggles they go through and the growth they have as a result, makes the HEA that they have is so well deserved....The spice between them is electric..The three of them are perfect together, and their romance is a fabulous journey that will take your heart through a gauntlet of emotions.
Hushed Harmony was a great read.

Thank you to the author for a gifted copy of this book. I am voluntarily writing this review. HUSHED HARMONY, by Kaylene Winter, is the final book in the CHARMING IRISH series. Liam McGloughlin finds love in a polyamorous relationship with talented singer, Avonna, and his former band manager, Linus. This is a spicy, open door, first person, triple POV, contemporary rockstar romance with tropes including why choose, second chance romance, LGBTQIA+, FMC escaped from a religious cult, secrets, fear of family rejection. This book follows Liam and Linus from college age to their thirties as Liam meets and loses Liam and then reconnects years later. It follows Avonna concurrently from sixteen to her mid twenties. I really enjoyed this book. It has the raw emotion and steamy chemistry that I have come to expect from this author’s work. I enjoyed this book and that of Liam’s twin, Padraig, the most of this entire series. They are very reminiscent of the author’s first series, LESS THAN ZERO, which I have found to be the best of her work. She takes her characters through loss and trauma and brings them through to find love and acceptance. All three main characters in this series had their own journeys to their happily ever after and I appreciated the attention to detail and excellent storytelling that led them to the final destination. I most definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy large family series and rockstar romances.

Liam's story needed to be last. Him and Linus' history and bringing in Avonna was perfect. The 3 were beautifully imperfect. They had challenges but how they overcame them were beautiful. The chemistry was good and it was well written.

What a way to finish the series. I laughed, I cried and I am not ready to say goodbye to these brothers.

I loved the back story of these characters so much. This was truly a book of self discovery and taking what you want no matter the outside world’s opinion. Kaylene really captured the complexity of the human spirit and how some things are hidden even from those we love the most.

If you are a fan of MMF, beautifully flawed and real characters, rockstars, love, heartbreak, and being put back together by those that love you most, then don’t miss this book!

The Charming Irish series comes to a heartfelt and emotional close with Liam McGloughlin’s story, in a powerful mix of angst, love, and healing. Liam, Linus, and Avonna’s journey is a true rollercoaster, and it’s clear that none of the three central characters have led easy lives, each facing their own individual struggles, but Avonna’s past was by far the most painful. Her story is both heartbreaking and frightening at times, yet she refuses to let it define her. Instead, her resilience shapes her into a strong, self-assured woman, one brave enough to confront her demons and courageous enough to enter a triad relationship with two complicated men like Liam and Linus, fully aware of the public scrutiny their love would face. Their story strikes a wonderful balance between heart, heat, and emotional depth as it explores heavy issues including religious trauma and homophobia, while probably being one of the hottest and spiciest of all this author’s work. Liam, in particular, stands out as he finally lets his walls down, allowing Linus and Avonna to see not only the version of himself he shares with the world, but all his vulnerabilities and broken parts as well only to realise they love him all the more for it.

Saying goodbye to characters in a series you’ve grown to love is always bittersweet. After reading the previous book, I wasn’t sure I would warm to Liam, but Hushed Harmony changed my perspective completely. While he may not ever be my favourite McGloughlin brother, there’s no denying that his growth and redemption by the end made his story a fitting and satisfying conclusion to the series.

“We’re a hushed harmony. A perfect balance I never believed I’d find, let alone deserved. With them, I’m whole.”

Hushed Harmony was a turbulent, breathtaking masterpiece of emotion. As the final installment in the Charming Irish series, it gives Liam McGloughin the spotlight he’s long deserved—and what a story he gets. Avonna, Linus, and Liam’s journey is raw, tender, and devastating in all the best ways. And while MMF romances aren’t usually the trope that pulls me in, this one completely won me over.

“Avonna. Me. Liam. We’re three pieces of the same goddamn whole.”

What struck me most was how clearly their motivations were drawn. I often struggle to fully understand why characters choose a triad relationship, but here, it made perfect, aching sense. These three weren’t just compatible—they were incomplete without one another. The emotional architecture of their bond was so thoughtfully built that I never questioned it for a moment. Together, they formed something neither a couple nor an individual could sustain alone.

“We’ve never felt whole until now. Not until you.”

Each of them carries their own wounds, fears, and histories, and the story doesn’t shy away from letting them confront those shadows—both as a unit and on their own. Watching them grow, stumble, heal, and ultimately choose one another was profoundly moving. Their love felt earned, layered, and beautifully human.

“The three of us together are a dream I never let myself believe in.”

I fell hard for all three of them, and Hushed Harmony brings the entire series full circle in a way that feels both satisfying and bittersweet. Saying goodbye to the McGloughin brothers isn’t easy, but this finale was everything I hoped for and more. I’m already eager to see where this author takes us next.

Hushed Harmony: Liam McGloughlin, Liam O’Donnell, and Avonna Parilla (Charming Irish Book 5) by Kaylene Winter is a passionate rockstar romance filled with raw emotions and authentic feelings. The story follows the evolving relationship among manager Linus, singer and guitarist Avonna, and Liam, the guitarist of the Irish band Fireball. Fireball was formed by twin brothers Padaiq (drummer) and Liam McGloughlin (guitarist), who had several lead singers over the years until they met Avonna. The story is told from three POVs: Linus (the band’s manager), guitarist Liam, and singer/guitarist Avonna, covering their lives from teenage years into adulthood. Each character is shaped by their home life, leaving scars that influence their adult selves. The band’s dynamics change depending on the interactions and influence of the twins. Avonna escapes an occultist family, while Linus moves to America to break free from his strict, religious family members who don’t understand him. Meanwhile, Liam pours his heart into Fireball after being rejected by his drunk father and, by extension, his family. Only his twin brother stands up for him, strengthening their bond as they leave home for college and devote themselves to the band and their music. Avonna and Linus meet and connect before Liam encounters her. But once all three come together, fireworks ignite. Their meeting also reunites Linus and Liam, who knew each other in college but separated when Linus returned to Ireland after his visa expired. When Avonna joins the band as the lead singer, their love story begins. The spicy scenes throughout the book will singe your fingers. Kaylene Winter writes romance like no other, regardless of the trope or characters. Hushed Harmony concludes the Charming Irish series about the McGloughlin family, whose five sons each find their soulmate or ‘the one,’ ending with a HEA for each.

Hushed Harmony is the fifth and final book in the Charming Irish series by Kaylene Winter. This is a MMF, second chance romance filled with angst, drama and heartbreak. As the final installment of the series, we finish off with Liam and his story with Avonna and Linus. Each book is a standalone in an interconnected world, so read as you will. Hushed is a beefy book, so strap in friends.

Liam, Avonna and Linus have history and trauma together, so much of their lives are interconnected, weaved together. As the story progresses we get more and more of their time together and their time apart, their music and the past. Avonna’s past was so heartbreaking, the loss for all of them, the denial, and then the courage to try again. There is so much to this triad, their relationship together and the struggles they go through to finally get to the palace they want their future to be. While each of the three play a key role in the book, I think Avonna is the glue that holds Liam and Linus together, she is the foundation. These three aren’t just in love, they are pieces of each other, they need each other to be whole.

I have to give it to Ms. Kaylene, this is the first MMF I have read by her, and it was very good. The structure of the book was needed with so much background, and then to bring it to the present where the plot continues. I think this really gave the character time to learn from their struggle, and then choose each other and the future they wanted. I’m sad to see the McGloughin brothers series come to an end, but each of the brothers' stories were so good, I hope others will enjoy it just as much.

Hushed Harmony closes out Kaylene Winter's Charming Irish series, and we finally get rockstar Liam's story as he falls in and out of love with his manager, Linus, and their lives intersect with singer Avonna.

This story is full of secrets, grief, heartache, reconnections, overcoming trauma, making peace with yourself, and so much more. It follows Linus and Liam over two-ish decades, from when they first meet as college students. Their lives become intertwined with Avonna, who ends up as Fireball's lead singer. And her backstory is a doozy since she escaped from a religious cult. From the previous books in this series, I knew that Liam had a tumultuous relationship with his father (because of his dad's alcoholism years ago), so I really enjoyed getting deeper into that through his POV. Then there's Linus, who grew up in a super strict, religious family.

All three characters are flawed, with tremendous baggage and trauma. The chemistry and connection between all three of them was lovely, and there was so much depth to their story as they clawed their way to finding a way to be together as a polyamorous couple. For that fact alone, Hushed Harmony was quite different than the other books in the Charming Irish series, but Liam's story was just as captivating as his brothers before him.

I have really enjoyed following the McGoughlin siblings as they find their HEA, and Hushed Harmony was a super emotional ending!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Hushed Harmony is definitely my most emotional book so far this year. If you have read any of the Charming Irish series from Kaylene Winter, you have been waiting for Liam's story. The wait is definitely worth it! Check your triggers, because this one goes pretty deep in a lot of ways.

Liam has been struggling with his sexuality since college. He is estranged from his father because of his lifestyle, but years after "the incident", Liam is working on his relationships. Liam and Linus met and fell in love in college, but life pulled them apart many years ago. During that time, they talked about finding another life partner who would love them both as well. They wondered if they could find a woman who would want to be with both of them.

When Linus and Liam reconnect, the life they dreamed about could be theirs. They just need to stop keeping secrets, but it is so hard. When they have to face life without some support they needed, they are determined to do it head on.

This story will rip your heart out, then sew it back together piece by piece. If you can imagine an emotion, you will probably feel it reading about Liam, Linus and Avonna. I cried, but my heart also soared with love. This story is an amazing end to the Charming Irish season! I can only keep my fingers cross for next generation stories!!

If you were never yourself, who would you be? Kaylene Winter's Hushed Harmony not only asks this question of its main characters but answers it. Three battered and bruised souls who were forced to lives as shadows of their true selves find their truths in each other, coming together as one, and in doing so, themselves.

The story follows each part of the true triad’s life, both singly and collectively. Being a true triad means the commitment and love flows in each and every direction, both emotionally and physically, and readers are all the better for witnessing it.
This tale is thoughtful, real, and raw. Readers will fine no sugar coated fluff within its pages which adds credence to the lives molded and shaped within. There is no shock value additions here. Each MC struggle is more valuable because it speaks of truth within a world shaped of boxes and labels.

This book quickly became a favorite for me, because of how real and relatable each character was. Truth be told, it’s difficult to not call them people or persons because they are in no way flimsy specters on a page. Well written as always, Hushed Harmony will be one I return to again and again to revisit Liam, Avonna, and Linus, if for no other reason than to bear witness, yet again, to their triumphs.

This is the final story in the Charming Irish Series that gives us Liam, Linus and Avonna’s journey to finding themselves and love! Avonna is a survivor from the controlling cult she was raised in to escaping and discovers what friend do to support her everyday. Liam still devastated continues his band with his twin Padraig having success with female singers along the way. Years ago Linus left heartbroken and has struggled with his parents expectations only to take a risk and start his own business managing bands and becomes successful. One random night Linus comes across a beautiful young woman Avonna and they have an unforgettable relationship, marrying and looking for their missing piece, Liam. There are hurt feelings from the past that bring them together in a world none of them ever thought possible. Making a life that works for them privately has its ups and downs only making them stronger and when their lives join professionally their lives take a turn for them in good and bad ways. This story is one of struggles, healing of families and how strength helps others grow into the person they’re meant to be!

Hushed Harmony by @kaylenewinterauthor
Charming Irish Series, Book 5
Interconnected standalone

The final book in the Charming Irish series is out and @kaylenewinterauthor hurt my heart with this one.

While we get an amazing HEA, you are going to struggle to get there. What I mean is these poor characters have to heal before they can find their happy…. These 3 have been through hell! What do you get when you work on finding out how to be happy? You get Liam, Linus and Avonna. 3 souls perfect for each other who find their deep seated love through healing!

Trust me when I say you are going to need tissues with this one. The writing is descriptive and you feel like you are going through everything…. And I mean everything with these characters. Their relationship plus living in the spotlight and touring can be rough but when you look inside yourself and find the things that hurt the most, well let’s just say that there was a lot that needed to be unpacked. Trust in Kaylene and you will get your HEA. Truly a beautiful story!

I came into this book knowing nothing about the series or the characters. I seldom do this, but I was intrigued by the storyline. So I broke my own rule of reading series books in order. Glad I did.
Liam, Linus and Avonna were complex and intriguing characters as individuals. I loved the growth over trauma and the love between them all. It take a strong person to weather everything that was thrown at them, but their own strengths helped build an even stronger family unit.
This book was long, and because I came in on book 5, there were some nuances that I was missing, I think, which didn't negate the story or the writing, but I did put the book down a time or two, wondering if I should just start with book 1. I'm glad I didn't let that stop me.
I'd suggest reading the previous books, to get the LIam/Linus background. But even if this is your first Kayleen Winters book, or first MMF storyline...don't let it be your last. 4.5 stars.

wow

Wow, just wow! This book has just taken my breath away! I would give it 10 stars if I could. In the beginning, it was a little confusing, but came together perfectly. Liam, Linus, and Avonna each had their own traumas. They had to take their own roller coaster ride over many years before coming together. Their hardships were profound and their love was true. Each one is strong in their own way, but they support each others journey. Every family should be lucky enough to be as strong as theirs. I hope there will be more in this series. On a different note whoever proofread this book should be let go. There were so many wrong words and missing words that it was so distracting. It was if a 10-year-old proofread this book. We pay a good price for this book and although the story is wonderful, it needs to be done more professionally.. Please Kaylene look over your staff because this is not acceptable. Your fans deserve better.

This is an emotion filled story that is centered around the musical group Fireball and features three characters who have been shaped by the challenges and trauma in their pasts even though their situations are quite different.

Liam is a guitarist who has had to overcome painful family drama, Linus is the manager who has never been accepted by those who should have given him unconditional love while Avonna is the singer who had to escape a difficult past.

The dynamics between them is filled with turmoil as they have so much to overcome both as individuals and as a group. The growth of these characters is heartwarming and the realization that they are meant to be together despite what others may think will not leave you untouched.

This review will not do this book justice - words are not enough to tell you just how emotional, how gritty and how wonderful this book really is. Avonna, Linus and Liam's story will break your heart and slowly put it back together better than it was in the beginning. Filled with beautifully written characters, a storyline filled with love, loss and angst, Kaylene Winter once again just adds so much to this series. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be filled with hatred and in the end filled with love. This should not be missed and I would love to see this entire series should be made into movies.

Wow. I don’t think I can put into words how much I loved this final installment of the Charming Irish. We see struggle, love, heartbreak, love found again and spice. Oh man, the spice in this one is off the charts!! We see how Liam and Linus’ story began and unknown to them, Avonna was a part of it. We also see the background of what Avonna went through at home and how she broke free and found her true self. The struggle of Fireball staying together is told perfectly with the revolving door of singers that ends with finding The One (in more ways than one). I hate to see the series end, but it couldn’t have ended more perfect!

Ahhh It's finally time for Liam's story, one we've all been waiting for! To say his life has been traumatic is not being dramatic, he's been torn to pieces - but here comes his saviours! Avonna, Linus, and Liam together absolutely make a whole but what a journey they have to take to get there. It's emotional, edge of your seat crying emotional but well worth it and such a great read. It's been a trip with these McGloughin's but we've come to the end and they've all gotten their HEAs. Brilliant series full of raw emotions.

I'll be honest, I found this a difficult book to read. Not because it wasn't well written, it was, it was the trope I struggled with and knew that I would when I started to read it.

This is the final McGloughlin book ìn the series and covers not only Liam's story but also Fireball's. We also learn about Linus and Avonna's journey's and how they come together, and how they make their lifestyle choice work overcoming prejudices and familial setbacks.

As with all of Kaylene's books I'm sorry to get to the end, particularly when it's been such a great series.
I do think these books could easily transfer to the screen as either a film, or, even better, a series.

OK, this book was a massive emotional rollercoaster ride and I hope that I can convey in words how powerful the story was. It had me invested in the story and the characters, Linus, Liam and Avonna and their story will truly break your heart. I laughed and I cried because the story is filled with love and heartbreak and the spice level is very high. This is the end of the road for this series but what a journey it was and we got to meet some wonderful characters and had a chance to read a series that is really a five star read. I loved it all, although sometimes I felt emotionally drained, but it was well worth it because this is a series that I will remember for a long time to come.

This is the fifth and final book in this amazing series.
Liam has spent his lifetime chasing sound, and Linus, his first love, comes back into his life, while Avonna, whom despite her past. These three characters complement each other, while they struggle to keep Fireball together.
This is a well written raw, gritty, emotional roller coaster, with found family, friendships, tension, heartbreak, challenges, second chances, obsession, why choose, undeniable chemistry, and unconditional love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, and spicy, Irish family, saga.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

What an ending to an awesome series. This was a highly emotional tale filled with rockstars, family drama, struggles, acceptance, dreams, hardships, love, family, friendship, religious cults, found family, extra spicy, and heartbreak.

Avonna, Liam, and Linus relationship is unconventinal but it works for them; they have created a beautiful family among themselves. There are struggles and hardships throughout the years for this found family that will bring tears to your eyes.

There is alot of moving parts to this story, the ups and downs of a Rock star's life, personal and professional. Also, Avonna's past and what she has had to overcome are heartwrenching circumstances, and your heart bleeds for her, and our heart also bleeds for Linus. What his family did to him was shameful. We were so glad the MCloughlin family welcomed him with open arms.

This story is one we could go on and on about how much we loved it, as it was that well-written and tugged on our heartstrings from the very beginning. This story brought so many emotions out of us as readers; we found ourselves bawling our eyes out for most of the story. So much so, my husband thought I was sick as my nose was congested and red. LOL

The characters are amazing throughout this series, and meeting Avonna was a breath of fresh air. What a fierce little thing she was, who survived harrowing circumstances, who craved out a beautiful life for herself.

Her relationship with her husband Linus was beautiful, heartfelt, and extra spicy. So much love between them, so much so, you craved it for yourself. The chemistry between Avonna, Linus, and Liam was off the charts hot.
We were glad that Liam finally found his way.

Inclosing we will say we absolutely loved this story from beginning to end, could not put it down, and finished it in one sitting as we were glued to the pages the entire time. This story has been one of our top favorite reads for 2026.
