Troubled hip-hop country star Freedom Cade once broke her heart when they were teenagers. He abandoned her on the night of their prom because of choices that landed him on the wrong side of the law. Disappointed because she believed he’d changed his hustling means of survival, she vowed never to love him again, though she carried his child.
Even created a family with his former best friend, who was there for her when Freedom chose superstardom.
For years, Jamaica Bennett put the past behind her and focused on loving her husband and family, convinced she and a baby would have only held Freedom back from his destiny.
Until a determined Freedom returns home for their class reunion, demanding to be a father to the son he swears he knew nothing about, and tempting Jamaica with what they once meant to each other and what they could be.
As Jamaica struggles to resist his allure and the blushing memories of first love, dark secrets from the past begin to tumble into the light, and vows become meant to be broken.
The story was so good. I was tempted to shake up this story and give Freedom a pass to treat Kody like his enemy. Freedom lost so much time with his family because of his so-called friend's actions. Jamaica was too easily taken advantage of by her so-called man. Cheat once maybe, but to allow him over and over is just not cool. Anyway, once all the dust settles Jamaica did the right thing for Jamie. The sidenote with Freedom's brother Peace being the school counselor for Jamie and his quiet struggle was well done. I was happy that Freedom was able to find his way back to his family in one piece. He deserved to sing the songs that made him happiest. That part of his story began and ended with Jamaica by his side. Tiye knows how to tell a love story.
Loved it!! Yes, to all the drama and healing. I was so excited to read this book. The storyline was real and raw and the characters were interesting. Listening to the audiobook felt like watching a good drama on Lifetime. I loved this second chance love story that had some huge obstacles and tons of lies and secrets to get beyond. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. I could not put this one down. I enjoyed each book in this FANtasy series.
Freedom and Jamaica truly deserved one another. His transformative story arc kept me rooting for him the entire time. Jamaica learned the meaning of standing up for what you want and believe in. Always have loved this series.
Cade is hot, complicated and a star! This book took you on a journey from the beginning to current times! A definite must read! I would love a follow-up book on the Jacob and Justin! I can’t wait to read the next book in the fantasy series!
