Living on Gummy Worms

Rate this book
As humans in today's materialistic society, it is all too easy and tempting to seek out the "gummy worms" of this world in hopes of attaining fulfillment. It is also not difficult to find that these "gummy worms" - worldly riches, clothes, money, alcohol, to name a few - do not have the power to ultimately satisfy our voids. Only God has that power.

Living on Gummy Worms takes you on a journey of four fictional characters - Gretchen, Morgan, Sydney, and Shane - all of whom are different individuals with a variety of experiences, but who share one key common thread: they seek the gummy worms of this world to find satisfaction, only to find emptiness and destruction. Will they remain in that cycle of destruction, or will they find that the answer for fulfillment lies deeper than what this world can offer?

I took my chance on reading this book with what I considered a strange title and I'm glad I did. Kirsten Wright did a masterful job of creating realistic characters and taking me on their journey through the rough times in their lives until they finally discover the real basis of happiness - the love of God and what he can do in our lives. "Living on Gummy Worms" contains an overt Christian message that continues to be important a world so full of hate and discontent. I would've given the book the highest rating, but I can't overlook the fact it needs some editing to correct the many word usage and grammar mistakes.

Absolutely one of my favourite books. I'll have to read this again!! There's no mistaking that there are several mistakes that need editing in this book, but aside from that, the characters were amazing to follow and I was hooked from the first page! I loved how there was a kind of mysterious element to the book, though it kept you guessing. Glad he finally got the girl too :D
