Vanessa did not understand why she just grew fangs, as she looked at herself in the mirror. She didn't understand why all of a sudden during the daytime hours she was becoming cold all day. She just wanted to stay under the covers in her bed all day. It scared her what her body was doing, and it puzzled the doctors. They just said maybe you're coming down with something. So the doctors just prescribed her to rest and take some Tylenol for a week. Vanessa knew this was not normal. I mean she could be sick but why in the world was she growing fangs? Why wasn't she sleeping during the day? Each day she was becoming more and more depressed, she used to love bright colors and going outside and feeling the fresh air on her, looking at the clouds. Now she was starting to like to be alone. Food was starting to not be such a temptation. She wanted something more, but she didn't know what or why. Matt's life wasn't a bed of roses either. He was very mysterious to Vanessa of what she knew of him. He had a hard childhood. Not only did Matt get abused a lot, worse than Vanessa. Matt also had a lot of health problems. Vanessa had health problems too, but not to the extent of Matt's. He traveled everywhere trying to make a difference everywhere he went, that really made Vanessa admire Matt. People mattered more to him than risking his health. The moment Vanessa met Matt she knew that it was going to change her life forever, boy was she right.
