A sweet little surprise of a summer read ☀️
Curling up with The Summer For Us felt like stepping into sunshine — light, breezy, and with just the right touch of romance. It was exactly what I needed: a feel-good, slow-burn story to sink into on a lazy afternoon.
This is Izabela Kamila’s debut (can we take a second to clap for that?!), and honestly, I wouldn’t have guessed. Her writing is smooth and engaging without trying too hard — it flows in that effortless way that makes you forget you’re reading and just pulls you into the story. There’s a lovely balance of humor and heart throughout, which kept me smiling even when the characters were being stubborn (looking at you, Wesley 🫵🏻).
Speaking of which — I really enjoyed the dynamic between Juliette and Wesley. There’s tension, banter, and all the good stuff you'd expect from an “enemies to lovers” setup, but it never feels forced or overdone. It unfolds naturally, and I actually believed in their emotional growth, which isn’t always a given in romance books. They’re both a little guarded, a little lost, and that made their connection feel real.
There’s something really satisfying about a book that knows exactly what it wants to be (and actually pulls it off!). The Summer For Us gave me the kind of charming escape I was hoping for: characters I genuinely cared about, a slow-burn romance that felt earned, and a story I didn’t want to rush through. And for a debut? Very promising. I’m genuinely curious to see what Izabela Kamila writes next
(I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for book two)
.
Would I recommend it?
Absolutely — especially if you’re looking for something light but well-written, romantic but not cliché-heavy, and ideal for beach days or whenever you just want a bit of warmth on the page. It left me with that happy, content feeling — like summer should 😌
Thank you, Izabela Kamila and Luna Literary Management for the arc.
