Rate this book
What starts as a lighthearted Maine vacation takes a strange turn when Steve Lowell discovers there might be a reason no one has visited the Ashford guesthouse on the east end of Oldharbor in decades. He ventures north to escape the stresses of his life, but soon finds that his life might be something he will have to fight for amid a shop of horrors.

Cinder House tells the tale of a wealthy family with a dark history and the guileless young man who uncovers something that has remained hidden for a long time.

Too short

I would have liked more to this story but I understand it was written as a short story. Liked that it made me jumpy in such a short time

Wow. For such a short, brief story it packs one hell of a punch. What an awesome premise into what could have easily been the start of a great book. But the descriptions and feeling the eeriness of this tale is amazing. Dunn has one heck of a way of making the goose bumps raise up to attention. A very quick and eerie read.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I really liked it, but I found myself wanting to know more. This was just a short story/novella, but it could easily be turned into a full-length novel - especially one that would explain more. Though I have an issue paying for short stories to read, this one is probably worth it.

This was a great short read! I definitely felt like I was right there with the character...although I would be freaked out if I really was. I really hope S.L. Dunn writes more short stories, because I am wanting more!!
