The city that never sleeps, is thrown into a viral-induced coma practically overnight. The empty streets resemble a zombie apocalypse but even the zombies are missing.
First responders are in jeopardy, but why? Why would someone take out the only people fighting a deadly virus which threatens to wipe out not only New York City but large portions of the global population?
Only first responders are brave enough to venture outside, brave like Detective Maggie Flynn. The legacy cop cut her chops hunting a serial killer but now she’s chasing a killer that poses a much wider threat. Detective Flynn must navigate a new partnership to fight crime in a city on the brink of chaos. She’ll need to build trust quickly before the killer sets his sights on her.
In “Dead Cold, An Invitation to Murder” the third installment in Lisa Fantino's Detective Flynn mystery series, Maggie is forced into the ugly world of a psychopath on the hunt during the Covid crisis. One killer is viral while the other is more dangerous, gnawing away at the Big Apple one body at a time.
Lisa Fantino is a master of suspense. Her almost uncanny insight into the minds of the desperate, depraved and near dead unlocks the mystery in “Dead Cold.” This killer wasn’t born with a mean heart, but murder changed all that!
Lisa Fantino is a true Renaissance woman - attorney, journalist, educator and bestselling author. She has appeared on behalf of her clients in both state and federal courts and has won numerous awards for her twenty year career as a broadcaster with the NBC Radio Networks and New York City’s all news stations, WCBS-AM and WINS-AM.
Her bestselling travel memoir, “Amalfi Blue - lost & found in the south of Italy,” made Kindle’s Top 10 list of books on Italy in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
In “Fractured,” her debut mystery, Fantino proved she's a master of suspense. She'll keep you riveted now as Det. Maggie Flynn braves the dark corners of a tudor mansion in "The Costa Affair."
The author's almost uncanny insight into the minds of the near dead and desperate unlocks the mystery, but fair warning, it will leave you with chills and you will never look at The Mona Lisa the same way again.
I received an advance review book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. I’m already looking forward to what’s next in this series.
I loved Fractured and have to say Lisa Fantino does it again! Having read her work before, I knew I was in for a gripping, fast-paced mystery—and Dead Cold did not disappoint! Detective Flynn is back, navigating a chilling case where nothing is as it seems. The tension, the twists, and that atmospheric New York backdrop kept me flipping pages late into the night. If you love crime thrillers with sharp dialogue and complex characters, this one's for you!
