Adrenaline Dominance: A Revolutionary Approach to Wellness

Rate this book
Adrenaline is a powerful hormone whose effects have been virtually ignored by the medical community. "Adrenaline Dominance" explains how this hormone might be a major underlying cause of many conditions currently considered incurable. This book explains why people produce this "fight-or-flight" hormone even when they are not facing danger. It presents a natural protocol for rapidly reducing excess adrenaline. In most cases, this protocol allows patients to reassess their need for taking prescription medications, which treat symptoms rather than address the root cause of their conditions.

Do not buy this book. The author has been disciplined numerous times and finally lost his license for violating the Medical Practice Act, prescribing dangerous drugs while on suspension, inadequate intake procedure, failure to pass the PACE review, and many other instances of gross negligence. Although some of the doctor's suppositions are attractive, there are NO clinical studies that support his theories. Even though his website says the ideas in his book were the cause of his license revocation, the truth is that an extensive and thorough review of his practices - as reported both by patients and undercover investigators.
This was no witch hunt. Platt is a fraud and a charlatan whose "treatments" have been harmful to numerous patients.

Highly recommended for understanding why so many modern health conditions appear untreatable. For decades doctors have prescribed traditional pharmaceutical pills seemingly only treating the symptoms instead of trying to understand and treat the causes of comditions. Michael Platt, a highly knowledgeable medical practictioner explains in layperson’s language how many modern health conditions are caused by excess adrenalin, an umbrella health condition he terms adrenaline dominance.

He claims with proof from letters from his treated patients and by explaining the mechanisms that excess adrenalin is the cause of a wide range of still incurable, life debilitating diseases and health conditions - diabetes II, anxiety, depression, bipolar, anger including road rage and uncontrollable anger, bed wetting in children, autism, ADD, ADHD, extreme morning sickness, diabetes during pregnancy, PMDD, migraines, back and muscle pain, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, brain deterioration, osteoporosis, muscle wasting, stomach ulcers, and even fibromyalgia.

I strongly advise anyone that suffers from any, several conditions or just wants a healthier life with optimal longevity free from dependence on prescription drugs read this book. Tell all your friends, family, and work colleagues. This is the biggest health breakthrough since penicillin was discovered!!

This book is the one I’ve been looking for! Extremely accessible for the lay-person, comprehensive, & well-organized. I really appreciate how Dr. Platt values the observational approach to working with his patients suffering from ailments related to chronic stress. Dr. Platt encourages a return to genuinely observing the patient’s experience of symptoms and how he or she responds to treatment of chronic conditions, many of which seem to be physical manifestations of the persistent low-level stress we experience with no physiological release. His approach is extremely simple and broad-spectrum (“70% nutrition, 30% bio-identical progesterone” which he makes a compelling case for) which I am grateful for in an increasingly complex and overwhelming health environment- both in the more “natural” medicine realm as well as allopathy. I also appreciated that he was not shy in offering his professional opinion while also making it clear when he had not directly treated patients with certain conditions he was opining on. There are a couple of very meaningful anecdotes and comments regarding medical ethics that I enjoyed as well. Overall I will be recommending this book frequently as an introduction to these concepts as I have successfully (and very easily) implemented his suggestions for myself and some of my children. Of course I don’t fully align with everything in this book, particularly some of the specific nutrition advice, but I still think it’s a great starting point for most people! *Please note that this book was successfully read in two weeks exclusively during personal potty breaks that may or may not have extended for an extra page or two to finish a heading… busy mothers CAN read! you just have to get creative 😝*

I read this book at the request of my doctor. It was written so that concepts were easily understood by laymen, yet it contained lots of information and explained so much that is not easily found or compiled in mainstream sources. This helped explain many things that would appear unrelated on the surface. Of particular interest is the information on creative types and a particular type of attention issues.

I wish there would have been even more specific details regarding a recommended eating plan as well as more extensive information on glycemic index ratings for foods, but this does not impact the relevance, practicality, or usefulness of this book. This book is not overwhelming to read as the page count is reasonable and the information is presented in a very reader-friendly style.

Adrenaline Dominance is very informative by a physician who clearly thinks out of the AMA box. I have read John Lee MD's book about progesterone and peri/menopause twenty years ago and have continued using it. Platt's research is very similar only he focuses on the over supply of adrenaline in our bodies, especially in diabetes, ADHD, IBS, TMJ. Progesterone can be used to rebalance the stress reactions in most of us. He encourages lessening our outrageous intake of sugar along with sourcing now gylcemic foods. The connection between the above conditions, cortisol and adrenaline are remarkable. Excellent information.

Extremely insightful!

Read the book via Kindle in two sessions. I was diagnosed hypoglycemic in my early 20’s. The booked helped diagnose my issues. I bought two bottles of 5% Progesterone cream and have been used for three days now. I used to do long intermittent fasting. Well no more! It seems to be helping. Very well written and easy to understand the medical terminology. Will buy again.

Incredible information. This non-fiction book about our fight and flight instincts is absolutely fascinating. Being a stress-junky myself I would like to dig further into the subject of hormonal inbalances. Easy to read and most interesting.

amazingly helpful. Michael Platt provides insight which can lead to healing and hope physically from learning things you might not hear anywhere else. Dealing with symptoms, yes - but getting at the root of a variety of ailments. Really helpful.

Progesterone worked for my ADD for awhile, but then stopped working.

But the advice to eat more vegetables which fuels the brain with glucose and no sugar, and alternate between (protein-less aka a protein-fast) and a normal diet did help very much!

Great information in this small book that makes sense. Has prompted me to try Dr. Platt's way and use bio identical progesterone.
