Twenty-seven year old Reese Turner has a great job, great friends and all around great life. Not wanting anyone to penetrate the carefully constructed walls around her heart, she prefers the casual company of a man over the entanglement of a relationship.
Until she walks into the grand opening of Nashville's new hot restaurant, Forty-One.
Owner of David Enterprises, James David tops most of the wealthiest, youngest, most successful not to mention best looking lists published each year. Sitting atop of a close to a billion dollar record production company, he's used to calling the shots.
Until he meets Reese Turner.
After one meeting, he decides his Nashville home is far more appealing than his Manhattan penthouse. Spending his days in his Nashville office, he's determined to spend his nights with Reese.
She recognizes the danger to her heart and knows she should run the other direction, but there's something beyond his piercing blue eyes that draw her in. After a few "chance" meetings, he insinuates himself into every facet of her life with his no nonsense take charge personality. With her reluctance shattered she learns quickly there's no chance of remaining intact in the end.
But who said anything about an end?
*Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not recommended for readers under the age of 18.
I will summarize this by saying that I did and many books similar since. The picture above is all there is to know about the BDSM bubble gum served here. Was there even a point to that story? I don't think so.
For starters, let me warn you that we are here in flagrant delicto of insta-love
And that's when I should have cut my losses, but silly me picked that book completely randomly, and I was still hangover from "Thin Love" so I thought for a good while maybe the problem wasn't the book, but me. So I decided to try my damnedest to give this book a real and honest chance.
So we have this beautiful and successful designer, Reese Turner, attending a new restaurant grand opening where she meets James David, filthy rich owner of David Enterprises. Short encounter, he wants her but never asks, he demands. Being the alpha that he is.
Reese—acting difficult since she kept eye fucking him the whole night—decides alpha commanding Mr David is acting like a jerk and refuses to go out with him for a dinner. But a bouquet of flowers and a potential job opportunity from Mr Filthy Rich David later, here they are dining, humping, loving each other. (I wish I was making this shorter for reviewing purpose but it really happened that fast)
Since everything is apparently going so good between them, please let me introduce a bit of drama : Mr Big Shot I own A Rock Band David has a shady sexual past. He never dated a woman before, but had several contracts with submissives. Except within a week, he knows that's not what he wants with Reese, because, you know, she is special. Insta-love and all that... He wants control in the bedroom, and so he goes on initiating our good girl, Reese to kinky sex...
But there is more... Mr Billionaire Extraordinaire David has secrets... A woman he claims he never fucked, or dated keeps stalking him. He disappears in the middle of the night. He goes off radar for several days, letting our poor girl to wonder if everything is over between them. I'm sure you are intrigued... Right?
Well I wasn't, I started skimming, feeling like a fool for still reading this, wondering where all this was leading me to... I was so bored, I should have dnf'd it, but call me a masochist, I wanted to know how the whole thing ended. Maybe, maybe the author saved the best for last?
The answer to that question is obvious, I think. This book wasn't badly written but definitely lacked originality and sustenance. I should know better than open a book without reading the blurb.
The storyline was good and the scenes flowed together really smooth. There were just some facets that just did not make sense. While good, the story just kinda fell flat at the end.
I love that James, even in his broken state, tried the S&M thingy and realized that he wasn't suited for it. Well, that's how I interpreted it anyway. And he understood that it's not that he cannot love someone else but rather he didn't just find someone worth loving for. Until Reese anyway.
Their relationship is not perfect and I like that Reese is not a pushover. She loves James but she won't be meek in the relationship. She got a "voice" and boy, she definitely knew how to use it. For me, I like how the book suggested that relationships are not just about love... It's also about trust, communication, patience and a whole lot of understanding.
The only thing that bothered me is that the ending was sort of... a little short for me. Like the ending has been rushed. When Claudia confronted Reese, I thought there will still be a few chapters to follow. But to my surprise, it's already the epilogue. Is this part of a series... or is this just a stand alone book?
>.< I think there are still a lot of unanswered questions though.
Like... Reese haven't met James' parents yet.. and how did the partnership with Olivia and Kate go... or something like that.
in the beginning with the instaconnection/attraction was feeling like it was taking too long taking off. it was written where you feel the heat to the point where you are saying ENOUGH ALREADY let's do this. whooo. but when the get it together it's an awesome ride. James was just too sexy for words. I never quite got the take on Reece. she seems all bad ass strong supposedly has had several casual relationships with one serious relationship that broke her heart, but with James she all unsure of herself and James loyalty. seriously.....love makes you vulnerable, but it's supposed to make you stronger as well. at times she came across vulnerable but strong then other times weak and annoying and indecisive. yeah, I felt the cyber bitch slap coming on, then she would get her shtuff together, ok her head out of her ass, thank god for her friend Phillip, who I adored.....thankfully he helps the readers from trashing their kindle. anyway. excellent read, but I'm feeling a series here. yeah.....Ashton and Megan. how bout jace and Olivia or mason and Kate. just sayin or prayin......OK HINT HINT
Another great book by Lynn Rider. She keeps cranking out solid, but yummy books!
James is a tough cookie, he's stubborn and knows what he wants. He's not scared to say it. But Reese wants just fun. She's not looking for anything serious. But like magnets, they can't stop the attraction, the lust, eventually love. Even though she's not sure if she should jump in with both feet because she knows he's different. Yet she cannot resist.
Oh, there's great fights, but they don't break up constantly and then fix the problem like most books. They talk it out and figure it out while remaining honest.
This would be a great beach read or even a book in front of the fireplace while eating s'mores and drinking hot chocolate.
I'm not really sure what to say about this one ... I really wanted to like it but it was kind of all over the place. Its weird but this book made me feel like it was too long and rushed at the same. The short encounters with the characters and the jump from one scene to the next just confused me. I felt like I was all over the place. I think I loved Phillip and Owen the most ... I thought there should have been more of a connection between Reese and James. I just wasn't feeling this one.
I was enchanted with this story from beginning to the very end. I didn't want it to end. It has a heartwarming love story with just enough angst to be interesting and a whole lot of sexy erotic loving. This will be a favorite re read. Enjoy.
This story was extremely enjoyable and I loved every single character that played major parts. This story never put the couple through any hard times which was enjoyable to read after reading other stories where there is so much struggle.
loved the book. I felt like the author was setting up for a second book for Meagan and Ashton - however, I have yet to see any details. I would be thrilled if she released a squeal.
This story was very similar to 50 shades of grey just not as developed. It was a fast version. The story skipped parts that should have been more explained or transitioned better.
Have I read this before.... Just saying... I liked the book but I did feel like i have read it a few times.... But it did open doors to a great series that I love!
