DNF. I really tried to get through this book but once I started skimming the pages, I decided to call it a day. I made to about the 50% mark & started skimming. I really want to know how this ends, but I can’t do it. This book is far too long & the FMC is quite annoying. She’s literally choosing to be stuck in a loveless relationship bc of her future mother in law.. GIRL pls.
I had a love hate relationship with this book. I gave it 4 stars because the storyline was very interesting and the character development for the main character was top tier. There were some aspects of the books I felt were a bit cringy or unrealistic. For instance, the main conflict of the book was, in my opinion, unrealistic for me. Dionne character literally aggravated my soul because her actions were selfish to me. The book, especially in the beginning, was repetitive and wordy. And guys towards the end every other word was feen. That word was definitely overused. Lastly, the ending of the book was a bit of a bust, specifically, how Mama Glen was super understanding and waited to the day of the wedding to disclose she already knew about everything. I also wish the author would have went deeper in the relationship between Calvin and Angel. I was left wondering if Arrius and Angel ever came to an understanding.
Overall, with overlooking some aspects, the book was a good read. It definitely kept me engaged and wanting to more. The author mastered the chemistry between the two main characters. The character development was awesome.
I’m gonna give the 3 because it was well written. The content was a nightmare though I’m sorry a forced love triangle where the FMC stays because some fake obligation she has to her fiancée mother. All of this was self inflicted torture and she didn’t deserve no happy ending. Why do you as a grown successful independent woman need the permission of a lady who is not ya mom to love and be happy. Like ole girl was dying the whole dang book and ain’t croak til 95% oh girl pleasee. Sorry the FMC was top ten book dummy and a scary ass. No spine, no soul just high heels and misery.
This book took me through ittttt. I’ve never wanted to climb through the pages and drag a character the way I wanted Dionne. I was actually having visceral reactions and yelling at my kindle. Either way, this was still such a good read! Hopefully we get more of Dionne and Arris.
The FMC made me so mad from how she was so naive and stupid keeping this lie up the entire book. Like ain't no way I'm going to feel that obligated to be miserable. The MMC is a good one felt like he should've moved on halfway through and make her work harder for his love.
I liked it but it was a bit lengthy for me. The chemistry between the main characters was so hot and steamy I really needed a cigarette after reading some of the scenes
